- Kelly S0 contributionsNice shore excursion to see the cityWonderful day tour. Very close to the port with pick up at the casino. Very easy to find. Took us around the city and to the botanical gardens, look out point and a stop for tea and scones. Highly recommendWritten 25 January 2025
- barbaradD3707PC0 contributionsA fabulous outing touring CairnsWe had a wonderful time seeing the sights of Cairns, & learning the history of the town. Graeme did a fabulous job, and we loved all the other members of our group. We would recommend this tour to everyone. The dinner cruise was great, & the buffet was delicious. We had such great service.Written 6 January 2025
- TucsonTeeter0 contributionsExcellent tour after a rough start related to pick up pointWe booked the tour six months ago and received a confirmation that the meet-up point is the Reef Casino. However, the booking information was for pick up at the Cruise Terminal at 12:30. My friend called, and we were told to walk to the Casino by 12:50. We got there just as the van pulled up. We were happy only 7 passengers were in the 20-passenger van because it would have been uncomfortable. The highlight of the tour was St. Monica's Cathedral. Chris is a fantastic tour guide—funny, knowledgeable, and kind. I recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about the layout of Cairns and its history.Written 27 December 2024
- J6707LYgemmab0 contributionsA MUST DO! Cairns and Tropical North Queensland day tourWe were greeted on time, by a modern, air conditioned, comfortable minivan (seats approx 12 in the back) and tour guide Laurence, whose energy really rubs off on you - Laurence was born to host this tour! The lunch is very good & organised by selecting what you want in the morning with the tour guide phoning ahead. We did spot a couple of crocs & is luck on the day. We did feel rushed once or twice, but that was only to ensure we could enjoy the day to the fullest! We made it to Cape Trib! A shame we didnt make a stop at Alexandra Lookout due to the roadworks fixing the cyclone damage (outwith the companys control). Such an enjoyable experience. This trip was thankful to Laurence - he is an asset to the company; his enthusiasm & knowledge are second to none. Pointing out points of interest along the way, so if you did have more time in Cairns you could do, and listening to his stories of travels & events were enjoyable. Thanking Laurence for a fantastic day, from your scottish friends Gemma & Graeme (the day the fallen tree blocked the road!)Written 25 December 2024

- viviens6580 contributionsFrankland islands reef cruise, something a little different.Great trip. Boat ride to island was easy and calm. Staff were friendly and competent. First time I had snorkelled but I had a ball. Saw so many fish and coral so close to the shore. Great spot for kids too as they can play on the beach. Lunch excellent. Submersible boat experience too. Perfect for me to practise snorkeling. Diving also catered for.Written 11 October 2024
- tricia16530 contributionsGreat tripThis is a really varied tour with highlights of the city stopping to see a magnificent stain glass window in Saint Monica’s Cathedral, having a personal tour around Cairns museum and then out to have a superb afternoon tea, all the places are visited on the tour where extremely interesting and would definitely recommend this again,Written 26 September 2024
- browney2370 contributionsSure it’s a long day but it’s worth it.Dale is a wonderful genial host - he’s more than a tour guide. From the time he picked us up in Port Douglas, to the time he dropped us off he was welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble, including the dietaries that with notice he’d more than adequately addressed. Dale makes no bones about this being a long day. Much more so if you join in Cairns, but do t be put off. It’s well worth it. Dale says he’s made it a day he’d like to do, so it’s a tour that’s been carefully curated. Across the Daintree River by ferry, a stop at the quiet Thornton Beach, it’s beautiful, in the Daintree and then the trek along the Bloomfield Track to Cooktown. There’s plenty of time to take photos along the way, as well as to croc spot, sadly, there were none obliging. Once in Cooktown there time to take in the sights. First the lookout and then to where Cook landed. From there a short stop for lunch in a local hotel before a visit to the museum. From there it’s home which took us inland. We had stops at the amazing Black Mountain, Palmer River and a final stop to take in the stunning views of the Desailly Range. It’s a great day.Written 28 August 2024

- denniscL5660IR0 contributionsWe totally recommend Reef Magic and Cairns Discovery ToursWe chose the Cruise/Fly option where you cruise to the Reef Magic pontoon and fly by helicopter back to Cairns. We found this a fantastic choice. Although the ocean was a bit rough, we enjoyed the cruise out and the staff were very attentive and helpful. We decided not to go snorkelling as the weather was a bit cool, instead we went on the semi-submersible, the glass bottom boat and watch from the underwater observatory. We feel that we didn’t miss out on anything by not snorkelling. The morning and afternoon teas were great and the lunch had a great variety of choices. I am lactose intolerant and all the food was clearly labelled for food intolerances/allergies which was greatly appreciated. All the staff were very friendly and professional. The flight back to Cairns was very enjoyable as we got to see the reef in a totally different way. We totally recommend Reef Magic and Cairns Discovery Tours.Written 30 July 2024
- denniscL5660IR0 contributionsA totally enjoyable dayWe started with the small group Cairns River Cruise which was very informative and relaxing, a great way to start the day. This was followed by a delicious lunch at Dundee’s on the wharf and the small group Cairns City Sights which was a really good way to have an overview of Cairns. A totally enjoyable day. Maryanne at Cairns Discovery Tours was very helpful with suggestion for our holiday in Cairns.Written 29 July 2024

- AReid150 contributionsFabulous Daintree and surrounds day tourMy husband and I did the Daintree and Cape Tribulation day tour and it was one of the best tours we’ve done. Maryanne who took the booking went out of her way to book us in at late notice which we were grateful for. The itinerary was was well thought out and delivered a full experience (including delicious scones for morning tea). Mario our tour guide was simply fantastic. Very knowledgeable, engaging and kept the group to time. Overall I highly recommend this experience to anyone wanting the most out of their FNQ visit.Written 18 July 2024

We were picked up at our accommodation at the specified time, by Chris, our tour guide. The mini bus was comfortable and we were informed that seat belts were required to be worn. We first visited St Monica’s Cathedral, with the most beautiful stained glass windows. Second stop was the Cairns museum for a short overview of the history of the city from a lovely guide- well worth going back to. Afternoon tea was followed by a visit to the botanical gardens, where Chris gave us a great tour of the beautiful tropical plants in the garden- he was extremely knowledgeable about the plants. A visit to a lookout was followed by a drive to Palm Cove, where we could walk on the jetty. Then back to Cairns to be dropped at our hotel. An enjoyable tour and Chris was a great guide. Highly recommended.

The trip was well planned and went ahead despite only four people booked.
Graham (aka "G") the tour guide, was very knowledgeable about everything we asked questions about. Very professional, personalble and knowledgable and made the trip worth while.
A great way to learn about the history and lay out of Cairns from Graham and the museum guides, especially if you are visiting the area for the first time.
A highly recommended tour. We really enjoyed it. Thanks G.

A splendid half day tour. Our driver and host was Chris who did an excellent job in both commentating and providing background context. He was clear and comprehensive and made the tour really informative. Highlights included St Monica's cathedral, the Flecker gardens and the Cairns museum.

This was a good taste of some sights in Cairns. My partner and I chose not to hire a car, so appreciated seeing things we might not otherwise have enjoyed. Highlights for us were the Botanic Gardens and the Museum. The Museum guides were terrific and being able to come back in our own time at no additional cost was a nice touch. Transfers were smooth and timekeeping was well handled. The tour guide John provided an amusing and interesting narrative and refreshments and breaks were well scheduled.

All of the sites we visited were enjoyable and worth-seeing. The highlight for me was the marvellous leadlight displays in St Monica's church.
Graham was a terrific tour guide. He was on time with his pick-ups and drop-offs and provided a knowledgeable and, at times, witty description of Cairns and its many attractions.

As we did not have a car, this tour was the perfect opportunity to see Cairns surroundings and to visit places we would not have seen otherwise. The trip started with an interesting visit of the Cathedral with its unique and modern stained glass windows. Then we had a quick tour of the Museum before heading out of Cairns for afternoon tea. Then we visited the Botanic Gardens with their amazing tropical flora before heading to Barron Gorge and its waterfall, and finishing at Palm Cove beach before returning to our hotels. Overall, a very diverse choice of places to please everyone. Our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate, with a good sense of humor.

Friendly, fun and knowledgeable tour guide,John, showed us around ‘his patch’. It was a fun group of guests being from VIC, NSW and SA, there was friendly banter.
Visits to local sights with short tour of Cairns Museum with a guide and yummy warm scones for devonshire tea and great lookouts for viewing amazing scenery.
I really enjoyed our visit to the Cairns Botanic Gardens where the flora is diverse and gorgeous.
Very enjoyable trip more suited to adults of all ages and possibly less so for young children.
Thank you for a great summary of Cairns and Palm Cove history to date!

I went on the bus tour last week and thoroughly enjoyed it! The bus was full, and everyone was very pleased with the experience, sitting at the table eating a yummy scone and sipping a hot/cold beverage. Chris, the tour guide, was detailed in his explanations and very convivial. I loved every minute of it, but the biggest highlight for me would have to be the Botanic Gardens. I highly recommend the tour and hope to come back with my children.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We're thrilled to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your Cairns City Sights and Surrounds tour with us last week.
It's fantastic that the scones and beverages hit the spot by our local cafe, and pleased you found Chris's guidance both detailed and convivial—he really does love sharing his knowledge.
The Botanic Gardens are one of the highlights of the tour and enjoyed by many ; it's a gem that we're always excited to share with our guests.
Thank you for your recommendation and we hope to see you again with your children on your next visit to Cairns. Regards Maryanne
