Wonderful snorkeling experience with yummy lunch
We had an amazing time snorkeling! The views were great all day, lunch was delicious and accommodating to dietary restrictions, and we got to see some amazing wildlife at our two snorkeling stops. The stinger suits provided were a nice touch, as there were many small jellyfish at the first stop of the day and they provided additional sun protection, without having to continually reapply sunscreen!

A spectacular vessel, spectacularly crewed and a spectacular day of exploring the reef. We always felt looked after. Great food and definitely not overpriced at all. We would highly recommend Evolution if you’re looking to experience the beautiful Great Barrier Reef.

Great experience and the best staff
We are a family of four with kids 11 and 14 years old. We had an amazing day on this cruise, starting from the check in until the end the staff was very nice and helpful. There was a really good vibe on the boat with the staff interacting with the passengers and joking around (special thanks to Eddie who was the highlight of the day according to our daughter). The safety briefing was done in a humorous way and therefore catched everyones attention. I have never snorkeled before and don’t feel very comfortable in the water but i went out with with a guide holding on to a flotation aid. The guide was a guy from Finland (sorry, can’t remember his name) and he showed me a lot of cool things at the reef and made my experience unforgettable. My husband is an experienced snorkeler and was also very pleased with the cruise and the snorkeling. We have only good things to say about this cruise and can strongly recommend it.

          Bucket List Event
This was a bucket list experience that I really enjoyed! The ship's crew (The Evolution), seemed well trained, very experienced and were very thorough, especially when it came to the passengers safety. I had to throw up while enroute to the first stop. I ran to the bathroom, but they were all occupied. One crew member saw my distress and immediately gave me a bag to use and a crate to sit on. He made sure I was OK and made me feel less embarrassed about throwing up. I must say, it was a bit chaotic getting off the boat and into the water at the first stop. It was much smoother at the second stop. The other negative was the lunch. I'm vegetarian and this was communicated and confirmed days in advance. However, there were no hot entrees for me to eat. I had a lettuce, tomato, cucumber salad, a cold pasta salad and bread. It would have been nice if they had some fruit. That being said, they did have coffee/tea and pastries in the morning and wine, cheese and crackers on the way home

          Beautuful reef...too many people.
The reef was amazing. There were just way too many people on the trip. There were 175 guests aboard the boat. The boat is large so it was not too bad on the boat, but there were way too many people in the water. Some of our group dove so we could get away from them but it did make coming up to the surface and getting us and our equipment on board difficult. The ones in our group who snorkeled said the water was chaos so the couldn't enjoythe beauty of the reef. There were only 5 certified drivers on board so we were ok. But they were giving lessons to around 30 people which also added to the chaos. The food was good and plentiful. They had a bar on board.

Wonderful snorkeling and scenic flight sessions in Great Barrier Reef
The snorkeling and scenic flight sessions were amazing, really superb. Great Barrier Reef deserves its reputation. The cruise was fun, staffs were professional, safety briefing was good as well. Things that could be better probably in terms of foods and drinks. More snacks and drink options should be provided and included for free.

Just a fantastic experience on the reef, stunning boat and really friendly staff. Plenty of fresh food for lunch and all the equipment was in great condition. Safety was their main concern for all passengers, and they are always willing to help you. Thoroughly recommended.

Colorful coral, great staff on boat.
The staff on the boat was excellent, super friendly, and helpful. Plenty of time to snorkel at both barrier reef locations. The ride back was a bit bumpy because of rain storm for about 15 minutes, but we did go during cyclone season (January). The staff did warn everyone before the trip and during to take motion sickness medicine as a preventative if you thought you might get sick (my family was fine with no meds). No sharks or turtles seen on snorkel, but some fish were seen - the coral reef did have the colorful coral. The free use of the stinger wetsuits was great. Definitely use sunscreen before and after going in water, we got light, very minor burn/tan even though used sunscreen twice.

          Neglectful and unsafe
Good fun but very unsafe. The staff did not notice my dad drowning despite preaching to us the importance of knowing the hand signals for help! Thankfully another tourist threw a pool noodle to him! The food was not good

Far North Queensland is beautiful. And the three day pass was good value.

The trip to the reef was amazing and the snorkelling was a definite highlight.

Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge and the Daintree - also highlights.

Kuranda was a total disappointment. The train up and cable car back was interesting, but Kuranda was tired and completely tourist-driven. My pass meant I had to spend 4 hours there. After the firat 30 min, there wasn't much to see or do.

My wife and I went to Queensland as part of our honeymoon and booked 3 tours with Down Under Tours. We had an amazing experience and each day tour was unique and memorable in it's own way. The Kuranda train and skyrail was enjoyable and we got to see a lot of the major Australian wild life at the top including holding a Koala and feeding wallabies and kangaroos. The Daintree rainforest excursion was very fun and informative. Our guide Tom, was hilarious and passionate as well knowledgeable about the rainforest. Finally, our day trip to the Great Barrier Reef was unforgettable. The crew was very friendly and accommodating, and clearly took safety seriously. If traveling to Queensland, I would highly recommend using Down Under Tours. They're very professional, and provide a great experience in learning about Northern Australia and Queensland.

Snorkling in the Great Barrier Reef was a bucket list item my husband and I checked off with great joy last fall. The cruise took us to a beautiful, isolated portion of it, and we spent a couple of hours doing something I'd only dreamed of in all my 63 years. ... The Kuranda Scenic Railway was yet another not-to-be-missed experience, if you're in that part of Australia.

My husband and I were only going to be in Cairns for about 4 days. We had two goals: snorkel at the Great Barrier Reef and cuddle a koala. I came across this three day excursion on Travstar. After seeing all that is included, at such a low price. I knew this was for us!

The Reef: Boat ride is about 80 mins. Be sure to bring motion sickness medication (if you forget, they sell on board). I cannot stress enough - TAKE IT! Even if you have never had motion sickness. The ride is quite rough, but obviously very worth it! We snorkeled at two different reefs, one of which was about 1-2ft from the surface! Was truly amazing. The meal they served was tasty as well. They offered many vegetarian dishes which was greatly appreciated. Overall excellent day!

Kuranda: The train ride was tight quarters, but excellent views. Only about 1.5hrs so manageable. Kuranda is a cute village with many touristy shops, cafes, restaurants, and art galleries. Very walkable and fun to wander through. We also opted to go to the Kuranda Koala Gardens. This is where I was able to hold a koala for a picture!! Queensland is the only state in Australia that allows this. They tell you exactly what to do to ensure the animals safety. I absolutely loved it. Also there is an area you walk through where you can feed kangaroos and wallabies by hand! The food is free. What a once in a lifetime experience truly! This park is small, but exactly what we needed to ensure we had time to wander the village. We took the Skyrail down. Absolutely amazing views! There are two platforms it stops at - highly recommend getting off for some pictures.

Daintree/Cape Trib: This day was split up just enough to ensure an excellent experience. The drive to Cape Trib is about 2.5hrs, but we never had a ride that was over 1.5! There are multiple stops/activities throughout to ensure this. The rainforest walk is not difficult at all - on a boardwalk the entire time. There was a light drizzle, which made it even better in my opinion since we were in a rainforest after all. The lunch at Cape Trib was decent. The beach itself was beautiful! We literally were the only ones on it. It’s amazing to see the rainforest literally touching the sand that starts the beach. The crocodile cruise was interesting as well! We saw a small baby croc, as well as 2 big males - one in the water and another up in the bank! The guide also had us stop for ice cream at a local fruitfarm that makes it onsite. Was truly delicious. We stopped at some lookouts as well that were breathtaking views of the coast. Even by an open field that had 100s of wild wallabies just laying there. Loved it!

If you will be in Cairns and want to see a little of everything that it has to offer, definitely book this trip!!

Such wonderful feedback, thank you for joining us for the 3 day package and experiencing some of what Cairns has to offer! In regards to the boat, everyday isn't a rough ride but it definitely pays to keep an eye on the winds! 05-10knts is the ideal/ perfect weather conditions but anything over this definitely we recommend the seasick tablets! Best insurance you can bye for the reef!

        The first day -
The boat ride out to the reef was great however I was violently seasick for about two hours, the staff were really good about it. The snorkel gear was clean and good working order, the reef sites were incredible, my 10 year old son snorkeled by himself ( I was very confident the staff were watching him).
        Second day -
Kuranda tour was great very informative, the butterfly sanctuary was great but the bird sanctuary was incredible absolutely loved it, you can feed the birds. The skyline was nice and it was relaxing.

        Third day-
Cape trib and daintree tour was great been worn out from the days before I would suggest having a days break in between one of the day tours. Mossman gorge was nice but not much time to spend there. Cape tribulation was lovely.
Things I would of done if I had more time amd money # Aboriginal tour or bush tucker, spent more time in Cairns CBD, night markets and bought local art.
I stayed at the caravan park and it was really nice. People in town are friendly and helpful. I like Cairns and Im glad this was the first place I decided to visit.
        Thank you for hospitality.

This was a great trip. Worth the money. I priced it out to do these tours individually and to take the family myself instead of booking it all together through this company and it was more money. Day 2 and 3 have bus drivers that act as guides and tell you lots of information about the area.

Day 1 on the reef was excellent. There were over 150 people on our boat but you would never know it. The crew were excellent. They knew us by name by the time we got off the boat. Not many divers but lots of snorkelers. My son did two adventure dives and the dive crew took great care of him. I did 3 dives and Shea was an awesome dive master. I paid the extra $10/dive for her to guide me around and it was well worth it.

Day 2 was a trip to Kuranda. We got picked up by bus and taken to the train station. The train trip was 1.5 hours and beautiful. We toured Kuranda on our own and had to be back down to the Skyrail by 2:15 to get to the bottom by 4pm for our bus pick up back to hotel. In Kuranda there is a butterfly sancturary, Koala Gardens and a Bird Sanctuary. These were extra money. The birds were great if you want to get up close and hold them. The Koala Gardens were small, I would recommend others like Port Douglas or Townsville. The Skyrail down was amazing!

Day 3 we were picked up from hotel by bus and we drove up to Port Douglas to the animal sanctuary. We had one hour there to explore. It was nice and not busy first thing in the morning. Then we drove up to Mossman Gorge and went for a swim. Next we drove to Cape Tribulation and got a tour of the rainforest before eating lunch at a place in the middle of the rainforest. We had some time to walk to the beach after lunch. We left lunch and drove to a crocodile tour. We only saw one small one and a snake but it was a good tour. The guide was informative. Then we finished the drive home.

I would recommend this trip. It was well organized and you can't find it any cheaper. It is a busy 3 days!

We flew to Cairns from Sydney to enjoy the 3 day trip outlined by Viator as a SuperSaver. Aside from the extreme heat it was super fun and a great value. The first day, the Great Barrier Reef we had to walk to the pier (5 minutes since we stayed at the Mantra Esplanade in town). The crew was thorough with instructions, we were provided stinger suits because of the jellyfish and we went to 2 areas of the reef. The sea was quite rough and I took trava calm (available for purchase on the boat) right away since I get motion sickness. Glad I did as the majority of the passengers were goners before we got to the first reef. Crew again was helpful with people being seasick. Food was provided-just okay. I didn’t like that snacks provided on the way back had people grabbing cheese and crackers and fruit with their hands to put on napkins. They should have provided serving ware and paper plates. The reef was colorful and we enjoyed the snorkeling. They have a photographer who takes photos below the water that are for sale. I bought 2 that were airdropped to my phone. A little pricey, but such cool photos!
Our train trip to Kuranda was really fun, but hot. We stopped once to stretch our legs and a photo opportunity. In kuranda we we went to the koala area (extra fee) and held a koala (extra fee). But how often do you get to do that? Well worth it. Shopping and eating took up the rest of the time in Kuranda. We took a gondola ride down with stops-beautiful views!
Cape Tribulation-we had a great guide, Mal, who took good care of us all day. We went to Featherdale Park where we got to feed kangaroos and wallabys and saw many animals! Hot sticky hike into Mossman Gorge, but so pretty! Mal pointed out all kinds of things. We took a ferry ride to a back country resort for lunch where you could opt for exotic food if you wanted. Lastly we took a river boat ride to look for saltwater crocs.
We loved all 3 days-so worth the time and expense to fly to Cairns.

I went out with them to see the reef- they're locally owned and operated which is good to support and the staff are beyond friendly

everybody in this company was a pleasure to interact with, very accommodating and great value for money.
the highlight being the day on the reef, we were lucky enough to meet the chef Tom who was also the entertainment on the way back in from the reef.
Tom was an excellent musician who performed some great rock classics making the usually long slow cruise back an experience to really enjoy.
thanks Tom and all the crew for a wonderful experience
