What to expect
  • Day 1: Mt Mitchell Plateau (Full Day Walk), 13km (6.5 hours) A gently winding 5km ascent brings you to the twin peaks of Mt Mitchell, an extinct volcano named in 1828 by botanist and explorer Allan Cunningham in honor of the Surveyor-General Thomas Mitchell. The guided walking trail takes in sheer cliff faces and breathtaking views over the Scenic Rim and Fassifern Valley and offers the opportunity to discover local wildlife and plant species along the way. Day one concludes with an easy descent into Spicers Peak Station, following the ridgeline back to Spicers Canopy in time for a rustic dinner. Day 2: River Loop (Morning Walk / Free Time) 6.5km (4.5 hours) A relaxing day spent exploring the nooks and crannies of Millar Vale Creek. Setting off after a hearty breakfast, your guide will introduce you to the rich local history of the area, which is believed to have been the original route for indigenous traders passing across the Great Dividing Range from inland Australia to the coast. Throughout the day you’ll have the chance to learn more about the local flora and fauna, including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and a wide range of colorful and occasionally noisy birdlife. And on your return to Spicers Canopy you can enjoy a host of on-site activities, or simply wind down by the fire side. Day 3: Spicers Peak Exploration (Full day walk) 13km (5.5 hours) Follow in the footsteps of the early settlers and see a part of Queensland that even today only a handful of people have been lucky enough to experience. The trail leads through the dense rainforests of Spicers Peak, complete with giant ferns and awe-inspiring 1000 year old Hoop Pines, before opening out to panoramic views of Spicers Gap and the Great Dividing Range. Day three draws to a close at Spicers Peak Lodge, with an evening of well-deserved pampering and gourmet dining – the perfect end to a truly unforgettable adventure. Day 4: Spicers Peak Lodge (Optional Morning Walk) 4km (5.5 hours) An optional early morning walk to Ryan’s Lookout is on offer for those who still have energy to spare. Alternatively, you might simply want to enjoy the surroundings, relax in the library, play a game of tennis or indulge in a rejuvenating treatment at our in-house Spa Anise. A helicopter joy flight over Main Range National Park can also be arranged. Transfers back to Brisbane depart around 11am.
