A great activity for two active teenage kids & fun to watch on as an admiring parent!!
I took my son and nephew for an abseil a couple of weeks ago and also booked them the twilight climb which they did last night. George was our instructor on both occasions and the boys absolutely loved their trip down and up the cliff-face (both kids had quite a bit of experience with indoor climbing and the climb up the cliffs was perfect for them). We were super lucky to be in small groups on both occasions and the boys had plenty of turns up and down which they loved. George was very friendly, knowledgeable and very encouraging of the kids (aged 14) and we all had a wonderful experience. Thanks so much!! I've booked again to take my kids and all their cousins :)

    Kayaking fun with friends
The tour was really nice. Gieran, our tour guide, gave us clear instructions on how to kayak (getting on, rowing, what happens if you fall off). He was very friendly and provided fun facts during the tour. He also offered assistance to any kayakers who needed a tow or fell off the kayak. Overall, the duration of the tour, the equipment and guide were perfect and we had an amazing time.

    Paddling on the Brisbane River
We received the twilight kayak tour as a gift and it was such a great experience. Even though we live in Brisbane, it was beautiful to be on the river at this time to see the city come to life. Our guides Gieran and Lucas were excellent. They were friendly and ensured everyone's safety at all times and also provided some interesting facts about the history of the river. In fact all the staff, from booking over the phone, through to the staff on the desk on the night were very pleasant to deal with. The Mexican food was delicious and the wine and beer went down a treat rounding off a very enjoyable evening. Keep up the good work.

20 years since I kayaked so was feeling apprehensive but the experience was great.
Loved the experience all the staff were excellent helpful and personable. Hanka my Kayak instructor was very in tune with my needs. All were health and safety aware and I felt safe and secure. Up and down the Brisbane river was awesome. Will do it again next time I’m in Brisbane.

    Very Patient Guide
This is a fun and simple City kayak for all levels. Alex, the guide, was very good and very patient as there were a number of people who had never kayaked before and needed a lot of support and help. You don't go that far in 1.5 hours, especially if the group is slow but it's a nice way to see the City and the Bridge. I hired a bike from them afterwards and cycled across the river, through the Botanic Gardens, down to New Farm and then back over the Storey Bridge which I really enjoyed.

    Fantastic Place to Rent Bikes
Travelling from Canada, we wanted a way to see Brisbane by bike. It was easy to arrange rentals and to get the bikes when we arrived. The staff took the time to fit us properly, we are got helmets and items we needed, and we were away. We chose to do a self-guided day, and this worked well for us. The pathways were amazing - beautiful and well-marked and maintained. We followed the river the whole time, travelling over several bridges, and stopping for lunch or coffee as needed. This is a wonderful way to see a beautiful city.

Highly recommend for all ages and ability’s. You are in safe hands so varying abilities will feel comfortable!
We decided to do this sunset kayak as a last minute activity after a change of plans and was such a great experience! Was so straight forward and easy and felt comfortable in the hands of our instructor. It’s a good workout but great fun! Gieran was our guide and was lovely to chat to, had some great facts about Brisbane and overall a brilliant guide. Would 100% do again and would recommend :)

Perfect end to a day exploring Brisbane
Sunset kayaking on the river was the perfect end to a day exploring Brisbane. The staff were warm, friendly, efficient, encouraging and instilled confidence in even the more nervous participants. Single kayaks were easy to use - although I would suggest at least having been in a kayak before as the river current/tide is quite strong so it helps to know how to paddle! Gorgeous views, start in the daylight, watch the sunset, paddle back in the dark - very cool. Big shout out to Gieran and Lucas our awesome guides - Gieran trying to take a photo of us under the Goodwill Bridge with a tide on the turn and less than expert kayakers trying to stay parallel was hilarious!

    Great mixed ages relaxing activity
My parents and I (22yo) booked this on a whim when in Brisbane for the weekend. It was the perfect activity to satisfy my want to be active, whilst also being easy enough for my parents. Dad in particular was worried with joint issues, but found it easy enough to participate. We had the guide Gieran who was beyond amazing. Our tour was very mixed skill level and fear, and he had a calming manner and a great way at guiding the whole group. He was also extremely knowlegable and provided some awesome stories. The paddle itself was gentle, and we did not rush at all. It was a lovely afternoon and would highly recommend. Would recommend applying sunscreen and also wearing a hat and sunnies as it does get hot and bright on the water.

    Brisbane Adventure
Brilliant and fun way to see Brisbane city. Half of us did kayaking ,the others did rock climbing. We didn’t need a guide for kayaking but had good and very helpful advice about the tides to make our journey with the least struggle. Rock climbing at sunset was thrilling.

    Love ya Brisbane!!
Blake and Mitch were excellent hosts, warmly welcoming my friend and I for our much-awaited Brisbane River adventure! They taught the group "kayaking 101" then helped us into our kayaks then away we went on a magical journey along the Brisbane River. I loved seeing Brisbane by night and all the reflections on the water, also seeing under the bridge I drive over all the time. Great to see Brisbane from this perspective in such pleasant company. Highly recommend this experience!

    Disappointing
After reading many positive reviews, i was looking forward to the 'guided' tour along the river. After taking 45 minutes to deliver the safety briefing and get the 15 kayakers into the water, we had only 45 minutes on the river. Two guides accompanied the group but there was no information about highlights or features along the river as I had expected. The PFDs are probably due for replacement but the kayaks were in good condition and easy to manage. Based on my experience I would not recommend this activity.

I don't like to leave negative reviews, however as my experience was only last week, and resulted in pain and injury, I feel it's important to warn others in case they are subject to the same experience.

To start at the beginning, prior to my abseil there was no checking that I'd signed an indemnity form (I hadn't).

I was then provided with a harness that had no padding, it was simply the webbing without padding (unlike the instructor's fully-padded harness).

I've done abseiling several times with professional organisations, and each time has been a wonderful, uplifting experience. However this time I was very disappointed, and was left battered and bruised after a painful abseil with a cheap and nasty, unpadded harness. 4 days later and I still have bruises across my waist/hip area and lower back, which is due to the unpadded webbing taking my full body weight during the abseil. I told the instructor I was in a lot of pain as I stepped over the edge, and he said that was often the case and it would get better as I went fully over the edge. It didn't, and it was a painful, unenjoyable abseil. I had the option to do several abseils, however choses to stop after one due to the pain, and I let the instructor know.

When I returned to the Riverwalk building, one of the staff asked me how it had gone, and I said terrible and explained about the lack of padding and the pain - and that the instructor's harness had been fully padded. He told me it was because padded harnesses are too expensive. From my point of view they will be building a customer base of unhappy, negative reviews and this will impact their business significantly. Padded harness would save them money in the end.

Brilliant experience! The location is lovely, with an amazing view which you enjoy when you're preparing for your descend. Jen, the instructor, was very attentive to the different levels of experience and perhaps confidence, and endured that everyone in the group felt save. Definitely recommend this activity to see the city in a different way and then stroll around Kangaroo Point and Southbank afterwards.

WOW!!! What an awesome experience! Couldn't have done it without CASPER , our abseiling guide! He knew all the right things to say to comfort us through our hesitation of droppping over the edge, concquering that fear of giving into falling off a cliff when you begin the decent! Such a spectacular spot and such a beautiful cliff face. Once your're over it easy, as our guide said, just waddle on down like a penguin and dont forget to take in the spectacular views along the way!
I went with my two teenage sons and they had a blast! You even get to do it a second time if your keen! Thank you Riverlife and Casper for this wonderful experience. We will be back next holidays to climb the cliffs!!!

The second time down was more enjoyable as I was able to relax and listen and abseil down.
Enjoyable views while waiting. If going in a group, bring water you can leave on bench tables. Julian was very informative and knowledgeable, we felt confident and safe. Maybe to encourage and builf confidence, allow experienced abseiling people to go first so inexperienced people can watch and learn. Great experience!

It was a good experience and Lachlan who was out instructor was very knowledgeable and helpful. I’ve never done abseiling before so he helped make me feel safe.

I do think however that the money was not quite worth the experience as the group was too large for individuals to get a good amount of experience.

I have wanted to abseil the Kangaroo Point cliffs since my first visit in 2018. Now living in Moreton Bay, I received a voucher as a birthday present. My visit was less than 2 weeks after the 2022 floods, but the Riverlife Centre was not showing any sign of their trauma. Clean and it seemed like all facilities were functioning.

The only thing that reduced my score was that our start time was delayed due to having to wait for two people that had booked and not shown up. I know businesses like Riverlife have to be somewhat flexible, but as my wife and I did have to get back to Redcliffe after the adventure, it left us feeling a little rushed.

The guides were thorough and briefed the group well. Equipment was well looked after. And the abseil? Big smile on my face! City views are great.

Getting there was not what we had planned. The most convenient way would be by river ferry, but they weren’t running due to the floods. We got an Uber to Thornton Street (Ferry Terminal) and it’s a short walk along the riverbank. Again, due to the floods, the site was apparently not the usual one, and was a moderate walk away.

Would like to return for a twilight or evening abseil.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. It's good to hear you had such a great time here at Riverlife abseiling and we apologise for the wait due to the missing customers. For us it's always a difficult decision as we don't want people to have to wait but often customers are getting lost on their way down to our Adventure Centre and we try to give them some additional time to find their way. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. We absolutely recommend a twilight abseil. You will get the best mix of golden hour and the sparkling city skyline during nighttime.

Has a fantastic time abseiling kangaroo cliffs! Julien our instructor was fantastic!! Had the patience of a saint! I was the oldest in the group (in my 70’s) and the youngest was only 11 and he safely and calmly got us all down the cliff with smiles on our faces!! Some of us even went down twice! A fantastic day out. Highly recommend this activity and Julien!!

Our family of 10 were given vouchers last Christmas for the Abseiling activity. We finally could be all together on Sunday 17/11. It was the most fantastic family fun experience, made all the more enjoyable by our experienced crew - Sam and Chris, who were safe, knowledgeable and each had a great sense of humour. Very important with my family of comedians! Thank you Sam and Chris and Riverlife for this faboulous day. Highly recommended.

My son and I went abseiling yesterday. It was my first time. I was rather anxious about it, but our instructor, Katie, was truly amazing. The steps killed me (overweight 60yo) so I was only going to descend the once, but after my descend, I decided to brave the steps again and do a 2nd descent. I think everyone in our group was surprised, but happy, when they saw me up there ready to go a 2nd time. But you only live once, right.
Anyway, things didn't go as smoothly the 2nd time around (MY error) but Katie jumped into action and I was soon away down the cliffs again. Thanks Katie for your patience with me and making me feel safe at all times.....and for offering to take photos from the top of me descending down the cliff on my 2ND descend and then texting them to me. That was above and beyond, Thank You.

Only downside was whilst the whole 'things didn't go as smoothly the 2nd time around' issue was that I lost my sunglasses :(

I would definitely recommend Riverlife when Abseiling the KP cliffs.

I was only in Brisbane for a couple of days so wanted something a bit different. Really I wanted to do climbing but this was close enough !
There were quite a few of us in the group, instructions were clear and concise and the chap doing it (who's name I have forgotten) was very approachable and patient from what I saw.
It was not made clear that there is quite a walk from the reception to the bottom of the stairs to get up to the top of the climb, obviously the climb up is quite steep, but that was pretty obvious !! There is very little shade while you wait but suntan lotion is offered and there is a water fountain by the road. I went fairly early in the group and the sun had gone in but I wouldn't have been that happy standing for 30/40 minutes in the Brisbane sun...
This was a good and unusual thing to do in a new city, so would recommend it.
