Queensland offers magnificent natural beauty. That's a fact. When booking a tour, it is the guide that determines a wondrous experience. Or not. Brian is an exceptional guide, a rare experience in my experience of Queensland these many months.

Knowlegeable, experiened, generous, and intuitive Brian led us to the best of North Stadbroke. Our small group walking the boardwalk to Look Out Point was blessed by sightings of frolicking dolphins, three humpback whales (stragglers making their way south late in the season). One mantra, one turtle , and a kangaroo relaxing in the bush added to my excellent rating.

Three koala's, including a baby hovered above in a Eucalyptus at Pulan.

Lunch at the only possibility was the only disappointment. Not the Tour Company's fault. This hotel understaffed, and overwhelmed on a Monday resulted in line ups for beverages that resulted in no beverage for several in our group, me included. Better management, more staff please. Drink service would benefit hospitality at this place. Following fried food lunches, we moved to Cylinder Beach which aided digestion. A majestic and wild beach with few people pleased.

Our final stop was Capembah where much understanding was added to Indigenous history.

Hi Alee, We are so happy that you enjoyed your tour to Minjerribah (Stradbroke) with Brian. It is a beautiful place . The wildlife were obviously being cooperative! We are sorry your lunch didn't go as well as we might like. Covid restrictions have placed a much larger workload on staff. On a Monday they may not have expected the large number of guests that were having lunch at the Hotel that day. Stradbroke is currently the place to be and the Hotel has the best meals in town! You made mention of the fried food. Out of the seven offerings on our menu only two are "fried". But your comment has been discussed and we will in future be offering the fish done both beer battered and grilled. We appreciate your Review. Regards Jo-Anne

What a fantastic day! Our tour guide, Shane, was knowledgeable and showed us all around the island. Some of the day's highlights included seeing 3 koalas!!, ospreys feeding a chick at their nest, a feeding frenzy beneath the cliffs of the Gorge Walk at Point Lookout, and a visit to Brown Lake. Although it was hot outside, the bus' airconditioning gave us a break

The tour was a great introduction to Minjerribah and has made us want to return to spend more time there. The weather was spectacular and the views from the North Gorge Walk cant be beaten. We saw wild koalas, kangaroos, osprey, goannas and dolphins. Lunch was high quality, and we followed it with a swim in the crystal clear surf at Cylinder Beach. Our tour guide Brian was friendly and approachable, with the perfect balance of useful guidance and information and knowing when to let our group have some time to themselves. Great day out, thank you!

I went on the day tour to North Stradbroke with Queensland Day Tours. The guide, James, was one of the good things on the tour. He was fun and you could tell that he knows his stuff. He was good at spotting wildlife and pointing it out to us and we saw coalas, kangaroos, some birds and a ray.
It was definitely not his fault that I couldn't enjoy the trip that much.
My problem was the minivan (13 seater). I was sitting in the last row together with 3 other people and it was really, really cramped and nearly impossible to move comfortably. You could literally feel your neighbours body heat for the whole time and I didn't know where to put my bag or legs. I think the last row can only work comfortably for 4 if all the 4 people are thin and not that tall or children. That was not the case on our tour. Another couple sitting in the last row was unhappy about the situation as well. One person was swapped which made it slightly better but still not comfortable.
Apart from that I wonder why they call it a day tour when you leave the island as early as 14:30. Why do you spend only 4:45 hours on the island when there is so much to do? This was the most expensive day trip I booked in Australia and at the same time the shortest and most uncomfortable so I can't say that I feel it was worth it. And it was the only time that lunch was included but no drink with it. The lunch was pretty good though and in a nice spot.

I've heard from others who had done other tours with this operator that their bigger van/minibus is much more comfortable so I wish they'd taken that one.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to provide a Review on our tour to Stradbroke Island. We take all comments seriously and have discussed your tour with the guide. Given that you have rated us so poorly, it is obvious that you did not like much about the tour. However, you cover 2 main issues in your Review: 1. Bus Seating Yes - you were in a 14 seat standard mini-bus with 13 passenger seats, 4 seats across the back (2 x doubles). On your tour there were 5 guests travelling solo, 3 of which were seated in the single seats, with the remaining 2 put into a double seat. The tour was full so there were no spare seats. When the guide was made aware of your concerns regarding the seating arrangements, the passengers were shuffled around to make the tour more comfortable for yourself. Notwithstanding this, regardless of your position in the bus, all seats are the same standard size and majority of day tours departing Brisbane and Gold Coast use a similar sized mini-bus. Whilst we do have 21 seater buses, it's unreasonable to assume that the larger bus be used for a small tour group, particularly when it would be going on the vehicle ferry. We are sorry that the seating arrangements did not meet your comfort standards, however the guide did try to rectify this situation. 2. Not a Day Tour You state that the time on the Island was just under 5 hours. This is correct but you failed to mention that a big component of the tour was the cruise across Moreton Bay which is one of the highlights. All tours require transfers to get you to the destination and it is not a realistic expectation that you would ever be on the Island for a full day. The tour in fact was 8.5 hours long with a 40-minute transfer each way to the ferry terminal, and a 45-minute cruise across Moreton Bay. There were two other tour companies on day tours to the Island the day you travelled; both took the same ferries as us. It is not feasible to take a later ferry and the tour program promised was provided at a comfortable, relaxed pace. All tables had bottles of water with glasses. There was also a bar available should you have wished to purchase a drink. We are the only tour company that provides a sit down bistro lunch in a beautiful iconic setting. Another highlight of this tour. I am sorry we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. We will however pass on your positive comments regarding the guide, James. Regards Jo-Anne

With Shane (who was just fabulous) as our guide and driver, we ventured to Stradbroke Island. The drive from Brisbane city to the ferry terminal was about 45 minutes followed by a 45 minute ferry ride across the bay. The ferry ride is calm and scenic. Once on the island, we visited Myora Springs (fresh water), Cabarita Park (beach, bay), and then a headlands hike around Main and Cylinder Beaches (ocean). The scenery is breathtaking!! On the day of our visit, the temperatures reached 100 F (40C) - be sure to bring water with you!! We then had an included lunch which was delicious - there are many options to choose from. We purchased some refreshing ginger beer with lime to accompany the meal. Then...on to a swim in the Pacific Ocean. The beach was one of the most beautiful we have seen. Swim between the lifeguard flags and be mindful of stinger jellyfish and surfers. We spotted koalas in the trees, and turtles and rays in the ocean. We even had time for a gelato in the afternoon before heading back to Brisbane. Yes, it is a long day, but so worthwhile. Note: We were able to change into swimsuits at the restaurant, shower and change back into shorts at the beach, and did the headland hike in flip-flops. Again, bring water with you. We found Stradbroke Island (Stradie per the locals) to be simply beautiful and would eagerly return there.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to write a comprehensive Review of our Tour to North Stradbroke Island. It sounds like you were there on a very hot day but lucky you can go for a swim in the Pacific Ocean and mostly there is a cooling coastal breeze. We are happy you enjoyed the lunch that was provided and isn't there a great view from the Stradbroke Island Beach Hotel. Shane will be very happy to be called "fabulous"" and we ensure that he sees the Review. Regards Jo

I booked the Sunshine Coast hinterland and Noosa trip and it was so good I booked the Stradbroke tour the next day. The booking process was super easy, the bus was comfy and clean, the tours were a really good pace without leaving anything out and Brian was super lovely and so informative. Highly recommend 10/10

Such an amazing day tour! Our tour guide Shane was the best, he made everyone feel very welcome and took the time to actually get to know everyone on the tour, he had a high knowledge of North Straddie and showed us some great little spots that weren't even on the tour. It was such a beautiful day and the water in the ocean was so clear and beautiful! Such a perfect temperature as well. We saw dolphins and turtles on our walk in the water and we saw koala's up in the trees for the first time ever, the swim and the ice cream afterwards was to die for!
If you want a tour to remember do this and fingers crossed you get Shane as well.
Biggest regret was not bringing my camera on the tour, so be sure to take yours with you because there are so many opportunities for amazing photo's 😊
We will be back for sure 👍

The three of us did this tour today and we had a great time. Our guide was able to spot wildlife (kangaroos, koala, pelicans, bush stone curlew) throughout the trip and we also spotted some dolphins, turtle, and humpback whales! Definitely recommend this tour. The minivan was comfortable and the lunch at the Stradbroke hotel was delicious. We learnt a lot about the local Quandamooka's culture from our tour guide. Highly recommend!

Brian the Driver/Guide was great. The trip, pick up, buss ferry etc, was plain sailing. Lots to see and do but given the chance I would have rather done less for longer or extended the trip by one ferry crossing. Lunch where we were all just beginning to bond and chat was a little rushed and could have done with longer. Having said that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would not have missed the trip.

Hi, Thank you for taking the time to review our North Stradbroke tour. We take on board your comments about lunch but our thinking around lunch is the less time the better which comes from many years of operating tours and getting feedback from our guests. The idea around providing lunch is to get you fed and get you back on the tour to see/do something which is the main focus of providing a guided tour. Our policy is to provide you with 30 minutes after the meal is served - then we depart. We also feel there is plenty of time on the tour to chat with your fellow guests including the time in the lounge on the ferry. We would not wish to take anything out of the tour and taking a later ferry (next one is 90 minutes later) is just not practical as it would hit peak hour traffic and get guests back into Brisbane after 6pm. Regards Jo
