The worst company I have dealt with.
18th January 2022 I booked and paid in full for 9 adults and 2 children to celebrate a mile stone birthday for my wife (60th), who was having her birthday early March. We had a number of interstate friends and family coming up for the day and the cruise was a surprise to my wife. Unfortunately, the floods hit and we were left without a cruise or venue. I had to try to make urgent alternate plans for the group two days out. I then had to rebook and pay in full for the new venue. I am now thousands out of pocket. So I emailed the Kookaburra cruises expecting a refund as they were unable to provide the service I had booked and paid for. (Afterall, we were not at fault, and we did not cancel). They stated that their refunds policy clearly states no refunds. So I copied their policy and stated we did not cancel you did and we were still willing to attend ? 1.2.2. Refunds Please note that this experience is non-refundable so prior to making a booking, please ensure that all parties are willing to proceed. Please check that the date selected is correct prior to making your booking. Deposits/final balances paid are non-refundable To which they stated they were not allowed on the river due to the floods. So they refused to offer a refund and gave me coupons, which half the guests are unable to use as they are interstate. Now Feb 23, these also appear to be useless as they have gone into receivership ? I have now heard the boss is in court for indecent assault... So if anybody hears of a class action, can they please add me to the list. Thank you. The worst company I have ever dealt with for fair play or empathy.

      TOTAL THIEVERY
Utterly shameful and appalling treatment by Kookaburra Queen. April 2022. Won't ever book with this company and strongly advise all others not to either. We also had a dinner cruise booked & paid for which was cancelled due to the floods, and although they would be insured, Kookaburra Queen obviously feel that it's ok for their well-intentioned customers to be left out of pocket while they profiteer from the circumstances. Disgraceful behaviour and absolute theft. Going off other reviews this is clearly a common practice by them. (Refer to the Office of Fair Trading Queensland for information regarding ‘no refund policies’. Attempting to use this statement within ‘terms & conditions’ is illegal as Consumer Rights apply.)

Kookaburra cruises, Brisbane, shameful service, non refund policy is theft
We had a cruise booked for Saturday 5 March, which we were expected to pay up front for and were asked to accept a no refund clause aimed at people not turning up, fair enough.Unfortunately, a storm resulted in the river being closed and the cruise being called off by the company. For some reason, their no refund policy appears to still apply despite us being in Brisbane at that time and available for the cruise. We are not from Brisbane and it is incredibly difficult for us to accept and use a credit voucher. Despite putting this forward to the Kookaburra Cruise management team, we have been given an adamant no, you will not get your money back and if you have a problem with that please complain through ACCC. This us very stressful and feels like being robbed, imagine being asked to pay up front for your meal in a restaurant and then told sorry, chef is not available, not our fault but come back another time and we are prepared to serve you. In the meantime we will keep your money even though we cannot provide you with the promised service, we commented on Facebook, all comments have been removed, shame on you, Kookaburra cruises .😔😔😔

      Total rip-off from Kookaburra Queen
We were booked for a dinner cruise on the Kookaburra Queen, unfortunately it was cancelled because of flooding. When we asked for a refund we were given a categorical no as they had a no refund policy. This would be understandable if we had cancelled but surely not when they cancel. As this was a one off trip of 4 friends the offer of a credit was not acceptable. When asked for management contacts were asked for we were refused and told to go through ACCC. I can't believe the arrogance of this company. The hotel we are staying in had problems with the lifts and immediately offered a full refund if we wanted to go elsewhere. Total difference in attitude.

Theft by refusing a refund when also refusing to give the service paid for.
I would NEVER encourage my family or friends to book with these people. They refused a refund for a service they also couldn't honor. We were only given an option of "credit" after they cancelled the cruise, then they told us to take it up with senior management, then refused to give us their details saying "go straight to ACCC. THIS is called Theft. We will be taking this further, what a disgusting way to treat out of town people. Also inferred they" lost everything ", meaning that they wouldn't be able to" honor "the future so called credit, however they will be claiming insurance not like us small people, we just get robbed by them.

      A delightfully delicious afternoon.
I love high teas and have been to several. The food today was exceptional. So much nicer than the finger sandwiches traditionally served and the cinnamon butter was a high tea highlight.

Must do in Brisbane even for locals
Fantastic way to see Brisbane - the service was above & beyond from moment checked in to the merry Christmas when we stepped off. Food was plentiful & fresh so much choice & if buffet not what you wanted other options to order & pay are available. Great selection of mocktails for those who aren’t drinking. Couldn’t recommend enough this is great for tourists & locals

      Left an awful taste
Terrible customer service. We were the last table of 12 to be served. They pretty much said hurry up desert is coming even though we just got our mains. They forgot 4 vegan deserts. The waitstaff couldnt tell us about the alcohol. We have been every year for 7 years never again. This was a horrible experience and the nanager was awful. Llisa and family

A wonderful lunch with beautiful views.
Went on the lunch cruise (table of 9) & had the best time. Food was great & lots of it. Entertainment enjoyable. Beautiful views of the river. Definitely would go again. Special mention to Curtis, Vladimir & Vonnie who went above & beyond with their wonderful service, a credit to the Kookaburra Queen.

A fabulous way to watch River fire I can’t imagine that any other way would be as breathtaking. Great views, music and hospitality. If you haven’t been on the Kookaburra Showboat cruise before you really are missing out. Truly Spectacular.

The best River Cruise to experience is right here
What an incredible charter it is; We had the best party time while viewing from the top deck the incredible view of our city and the river fire- fireworks show. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and very well informed. We would definitely recommend it to anyone without a second thought -. thank you again.

Memorable and enjoyable Riverfire rooftop experience aboard Kookaburra Queen 1
Both a memorable and enjoyable Riverfire experience. All staff went above and beyond to ensure the evening was a success. The service was outstanding on the Rooftop and particularly by the two girls serving drinks and canapés. Thank you!

Owners motto is “we don’t give refunds”
Drinks package is a great idea if you dont catastrophically understaff your company. 1 drink each on a 3 hour cruise- poor barstaff run off their feet with no management whatsoever. When i asked my waitress privately how to go about securing a refund for an over-hyped, underperformed experience, she admitted that the owner’s motto is “we dont give refunds”. Dont waste your money supporting a business that advertises luxury and delivers a school canteen experience.

      BIRTHDAY DINNER
A big thank you to all the staff on the Kookaburra Queen. Especially to the waitress Helen, she made sure our experience that night was exceptional. The food was amazing. Dining with 3 children 2 years old and under can have it's draw backs, however, they were settled and enjoying the boat and entertainment. Thanks everyone for a great experience

I realise this is rather late in being written, but after a lot consideration I have decided I need to vent. We had a lunch booked with the drinks package for Friday Jan 8th 2021. We were looking very forward to it, then Brisbane was put into a 3 day lock down at 6 pm that night. Being we were to fly out on Sunday the 10th to go home, after a three week Xmas holiday spent with family, I called and asked if we could either have our money back or put into a voucher to be spent by children at a later date, I was told a firm no and was informed we could still go on the cruise being locked down was not till 6pm. As I explained to the person I spoke with we needed to leave the lock down zones so we could still get our flights on the Sunday and needed to leave before the lunchtime cruise as we had someone picking us up to get us out of Brisbane. Also I was told we should have taken out the insurance they offer incase one can’t go. Seriously, I have never heard of taking out insurance for a meal ever. We would have been happy for a voucher and our children would have loved to have had the opportunity to have done this cruise on us. These are uncertain times and in as much as they need the money to run their business, I would have thought this was one of those circumstances that was beyond everyones control and a little bit of understanding was warranted. They wouldn’t have lost any money by giving us a voucher. Instead they had a win, for nothing in return. We will return on holidays again, do this cruise, never.

On a whim, hubby and I decided to do a lunch cruise today. We tried YOT first but it was sold out. So went with Kookaburra Queen, previous experiences have been nice. We tried booking at 11.02 online, you can’t book online if the lunch starts within two hours. We should have taken that as an omen. But we didn’t 🙁. Called and got in for lunch. We didn’t receive a confirmation email but fortunately our names were on the list. We were placed next to a window, which we requested if it was possible. 5 mins into seating we were told we would have to move for another couple. Ok, That’s when we started to think the cruise was going to be ordinary, and our thoughts were spot on. This is an old fashioned cruise, with interesting music (banjos/recorder I think), and is really loud, we moved outside so we could have a conversation, the food reminded me of mess food I ate 20 + years ago in the army. Very unimpressive.
No offence to the elderly, but it feels like this cruise caters to very old people.
The staff were friendly and did their job well.

The weather was perfect - we didn’t have to pay for that though.

Over the last 20 something years we have done this lunch cruise about 4 times. Today was the last time. We will book YOT or eat elsewhere. I always post where we eat and what we eat on my social media, I am embarrassed to do that with today’s experience.

They need Better food and portion sizes , a better band , one drink arrived as we were about to disembark ,we waited that long

The Package that we paid for changed during covid closures and when reopened didn't include drinks anymore. Requested refund but they couldn't afford to do that at the time so ended up using a credit after waiting 3 months for them to make a decent trade to reimburse us- I understand covid has been hard for all but if the pre paid cruise was never used , then our money should still have existed . Calls and emails were dodged.

18 dollars for a daquiri that was served in a small champagne flute . 2.50 pp for cakeage . staff seem unhappy to be there . Food wise ,you ask for say potatoes and get given - one ( see pic ) meat portions are tiny like finger food. You'll likely leave hungry .

    Wouldn't recommend.

Booked the cruise through red balloon. Upon arriving we were told we had no booking. We had an email and hard copy off the booking from red balloon but this was not accepted by the Staff. They told us we could board if we paid once again. We obviously rejected this. The boat manager on the day left the poor booking person to deal with this issue. This coward of a Manager would not front us. We ended up having a beautiful lunch at the wharf and noticed the cruise returned 45 minutes early. Do not book this cruise. If I could give zero stars I would.

Amazing experience, the staff were very helpful, the buffet was one of the best I’ve been to. Very well organised, table by table, food beautifully served and presented, and replenished as necessary. Some folks went back at least twice!!

    Excellent value for money.

I have been on this cruise 4 times and I don’t think I will ever stop coming back! Easily one of Brisbane’s best destinations! This time we had Shristina (spelling might be wrong) as our server and she was so friendly! Vegan menu is always delicious, and who can go past the ultimate drinks package. Friday lunches have never been so good. Thank you so much!

We took a group on the kookaburra queen for lunch, the staff were so very kind and obliging. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble as they assisted with all of my requests for our group. From the moment we arrived, the team were willing to accommodate. The food was delicious, the drinks were icy cold despite the unusually hot day, and the queen certainly is a grand old lady! A massive thank you from me to all of your management team and staff.
