A brilliant day out!! Crocs, views, swimming 😁
We had an amazing time. Our guide Darryl was both entertaining and knowledgeable (we have some wonderful selfies of him) and determined to ensure we had trip that gave us great value for money, we thank him for that. We saw termite mounds, sampled great swimming spots, and really enjoyed the jumping croc tour with Shaneo and Damo!! Highly recommended! Thanks also for sharing all the pics with us!

      Great introduction to Kakadu
It's a long drive to see the sights and nothing much to see along the way but Tom our guide provided a running commentary that made the trip interesting. On our trip there were 2 major sites. The first was Fogg Dam where we sit did see brolga's jabiru buffalo and pigs but not many birds. They were a long way off and I was fortunate to have a telephoto lens to view them. On 2 Ubirr which was the highlight with impressive aboriginal paintings and great views from the summit of grasslands and ranges. We also saw several crocodiles and were lucky to visit a pub that had crocodile feeding. Tom was great but I think experience could be complemented by an aboriginal guide particularly at Ubirr.

5-day tour in NT with the best guide you could ask for, Elliott
I was on a 5-day tour with my family as the first part of our journey in Australia. It really became hard to top after that. From the first stop with the crocodile cruise, I was sold. The tour in Ubirr was absolutely fantastic. We saw a lot of rock art, and our very knowledgeable guide, Elliott, told us all about it. The sunset was beautiful, but the timing was too touristy for my taste. Jim Jim Falls was a highlight, and the camp in Jabiru was with good service. The trip continued to Katherine Gorge, more waterfalls, and Katherine Hot Springs. Then a new camp, which also did not disappoint! Bonfire and lots of fun. On the last day, we drove towards Litchfield, where we stopped to see termite mounds, and the last stop was Wangi Falls. The best way to round off the trip. Despite many kilometers driven on this trip, it didn't feel so long, as the trip was perfectly planned with small stops and visits to cultural centers along the way. I can highly recommend this trip, and it definitely wouldn't have been the same without Elliott. He is extremely respectful of the land, and he informed and taught us a lot about native life, nature, and the country. Even with a full bus, he always lifted the mood with stories and jokes, good music, and high spirits. Elliott is the most passionated and dedicated guide I've ever had, and I highly recommend him. He arranged the trip to fit our group perfectly, and he really made sure that everyone was comfortable all the time. So, thanks to him for making my journey in Australia truly special!!

      Kakadu and Litchfield
I spent a great 3 days with our guide Eliott who was a wealth of knowledge on the First Nations Culture. We had a good group of 14 people. The tour reached places I would not have gone by myself like Jim Jim Falls. Camp accommodation was comfortable and clean, with hot showers

Snapshot of the beautiful top end
Really enjoyed this small group tour. 10 was the perfect number to travel with. Elliott - " the outback guide" showed and shared his passion and knowledge of the Territory. His indigenous knowledge about the bush included food, medicine and rock art. We had busy days seeing many different sights and got to swim in some beautiful waterholes . The campsites were comfortable. The nights included some wonderful camp-fires and amazing sunsets. The tour show cased some of the best of the top end. Would definitely recommend this tour .

      Great small group trip
This 4 day trip was so enjoyable, well paced and organised. Our guide, Becs, was knowledgeable and sensitive to First Nation culture as well as being a good, safety conscious driver and all round fun person. We saw an abundance of wildlife, learnt from local First Nation guides and ate well.

Good to visit but long day
The trip to Fogg Dam and Kakadu was well worth it. The sites and information provided was excellent and Rachel our driver was very knowledgeable and friendly. The only down side is the length of time on the road particularly on the way home

10/10 recommend this tour! Autopia is a brilliant company that offers a smaller group experience, a well-planned itinerary, friendly and approachable staff and guides. This tour we had 10 people with 3 guides, Becs, Rick and Tom. They each bought their own flare to the tour, and made it the greatest day. Having 3 guides was a blessing at Edith Falls, with some staying in the lower pool while the rest trekked the 1.2km to the waterfall for a swim. Despite the day being long, it was well paced and planned with time focused at the attractions. I will definitely be booking future tours with this company again!

With 9.5 hours of driving and rest stops to get 2.75 hours down at the Gorge and the Falls, it just wasn't worth it. The 20-25 minutes spent at the utterly uninteresting visitor center was a complete waste of time, robbing us of time that would have been MUCH better spent at Edith Falls. The tour driver said almost nothing along the way, so we learned very little, and with no access to WIFI along the route, it seemed endless.

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your Katherine Gorge Tour. We are sorry to hear that you weren't pleased with the time allocated for different stops throughout the day! This is something we can definitely look into for future tours. Unfortunately, the distance out to the national parks from Darwin is rather far. The time spent driving on our top end tours is quite unavoidable. If you would like to discuss further, please email us at info@autopiatours.com.au . It would be great to know your date of travel and guide! Regards, Madi

Whilst our tour guide Naomi was very knowledgeable and informative, and the boat cruise along the river was spectacular, the rest of the trip was very rushed. There was nowhere to buy food at the national park (other than chips or ice cream), so we stopped along the way at a petrol station at 8am and was told we had 10 minutes to go to the bathroom and buy our lunch there (pre made sandwhiches) before getting back on the bus.

Once we completed our boat cruise at Katherine Gorge we were told we had 15 minutes to eat lunch before being rushed off to Edith Falls. No time to relax while eating lunch and take in the serenity or to see the visitor centre, explore any of the bush walks or take photos from vantage points above the gorge as described in the tour description and shown in photos.

When we got to Edith falls we only had 1 hour which included getting changed into and out of swimming gear and exploring the gift shop before needing to get back on the bus. Again, tour description said we would be there for 3 hours but this was certainly not the case. No time to explore the upper pools or walking trails at Edith falls as shown and described.

To summarise it was 9 hours of driving in a small bus with no wifi for a 2 hour boat cruise and a 15 minute swim at Edith falls. I don’t feel like we got to spend enough time at each place or do everything that was described. We physically couldn’t have done it any quicker to allow for the guided walks or anything. The swimming spots at Litchfield are much better (and 3 hours each way closer to Darwin) than Edith Falls and looking back it would have been better to spend the full day at Katherine Gorge exploring the bush trails and swimming instead of being rushed off. Although we did experience some delays due to roadworks, it would’ve only accumulated to 15 minutes max and still wouldn’t have allowed for more time if there were no delays. The time limits described at each place includes the travel time, not actual time at each location.

I’m glad I experienced it but for costing over $300, next time I think I will do it myself at my own pace so I can experience everything.

It's an epic day but well worth it to see Katherine Gorge. Breathtaking! My only feedback to the tour guide is to be less flippant with comments such as: 'oh well, if they're late we'll just leave', and then not seeming to check numbers very thoroughly. I was previously been left behind in regional WA by a thoughtless tour guide who decided to leave five minutes before the agreed time and didn't do a proper head count. When we book these tours we put our trust in the tour guide to look after us - particularly in remote locations where there isn't always wifi or a way to get home! I know NT has a very relaxed approach, but there are some things we shouldn't be relaxed about.

Amazing experience. Katherine Gorge was spectacular - informative and entertaining guide, rock art, a freshwater crocodile and the incredible gorges. We stopped off at Edith Falls on the way back to Darwin for a swim (gorgeous spot). Our guide Ben was very knowledgeable. Even though it was a 13 hour day trip it was very relaxing and an incredible experience. Would highly recommend.

This was a great day, very long - but this we were aware of and prepared for. The bus was comfortable and air conditioned. Plenty of opportunities to stretch the legs along the way.

Unfortunately we were unable to swim due to crocs, but still enjoyed the day as a whole. Our guide Danny, was exceptional. She really knows her stuff and we got so much out of it due to her local knowledge and commentary. I was really impressed that although tour numbers were below minimum, Autopia honoured to the trip and sent along 4 guides in training.

Edith falls was underwhelming, however the Katherine Gorge cruise made up for it in spades with its spectacular scenery. Had a wonderful day!

The tour was well organised and we enjoyed the day.
It was a very long day indeed, returning after 9pm.
We had some issues on the day with microphone headset faulty and a delay due to other passengers misjudging their fitness level on walk. More emphasis on required fitness levels to passengers might be worthwhile. We were late to the cruise through no fault of the driver who went above and beyond to have the cruise departure delayed until we arrived.
The dip at Edith Falls was lovely and the Gorge cruise was excellent - informative and scenic.
Although there were opportunities to stop and purchase food, we would have appreciated some snacks to be offered by the company/driver at the stops with the cost of the tour and length of the day.

It really looks like a place of dinosaurs. Actually, these gorges are so old, they precede life on the planet!!
This & many more unbelievable facts are disclosed by first hand guides as they shuttle you through these monumental sights, diverting our way around the occasional croc or swarm of flying fox... to mention only a few of the natives.
Tours from Darwin are pricey & long(15hours return by coach). Self drive to Katherine Gorge is easily possible, but Park fees & Gorge tour costs are unknown. But you'll be glad you did it

Katherine Gorge is beautiful and well worth a visit. We, unfortunately, chose Autopia Tours which was not a good choice. We were picked up at our hotel at 6am and returned at 8:30pm that night - a very long day. We had a 10 minute stop on the way to Edith Falls for a toilet break. We had three staff on the bus, 2 plus the bus driver. None of the staff seemed to know any of the walks at Edith Falls and were very disorganised. We were basically left to our own devices and told to be back at the bus in an hour. There was limited food available (especially as I am Coeliac and require gluten free). We were told we would have an hour at Katherine Gorge to have lunch before our cruise. We arrived at Katherine with 15min to spare and told to 'grab something to eat' which was impossible as the staff at the Aboriginal Centre were overloaded and didn't have time to prepare any food in the time given. After our trip on the river (which was wonderful), we hopped on the bus for the return journey, again having only 10min toilet stops on the way. We arrived back to our hotel after a 14.5 hour day, hungry and tired. Thankfully we had snacks in our bags to sustain us.

Thanks for your review. We're so sorry your Katherine Gorge tour wasn't what you expected. A long day, limited breaks, and lack of food options (especially gluten-free) don't meet our standards, and clearly fell short for you. We sincerely apologize for the disorganization and lack of staff guidance at Edith Falls, and the limited food choices, especially for your dietary needs. The beautiful scenery shouldn't come with a side of frustration. Thank you for your feedback. It helps us create better adventures for everyone. Sincerely, Santi

We were picked-up at 6.20am was from a site six blocks from the hotel. No confirmation received prior to the trip. No good morning or his name given as being ticked off the list/told no first toilet break as we were in a hurry/as we are boarding.
The “accredited Outback driver/guide” hardly spoke a word, he spent most of his time trying to get the radio/music to play and when he did, it was poor quality and very poor choice. We asked for some explanation of the trip.
There was no opportunity to purchase breakfast or lunch “Meals not included. Guests will have an opportunity to support locals and buy lunch along the way.” We were taken to servos/service stations where there was only deep-fried foods and highly processed foods. So, no food for us.
At Edith Falls the driver had his shirt off, uncertain if he had been swimming and did not put it on until our next stop. Late in the afternoon he offered us two muesli bars and said “ I hope these aren’t too processed for you, as we had not eaten all day.
Katerine Gorge was amazing and the Aboriginal guide Brandon was excellent.
