About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- whliu20010 contributionsRelaxed a day outThe tour start with a crocodile jumping tour which is interesting. The crocodiles come to boat for food and jump really high. Then went swimming and spent time visiting a few waterfalls. It is relaxing although without dramatic scenery.Written 19 February 2025
- mikkelk3910 contributionsTour cancelled less than 48 hours before departureI dont recommend this operator. They cancelled our tour (that was booked almost 3 months in advance) less than 48 hours before the tour should start. We even didn’t get a full refund as they either charged us for the return payment or the currency change.Written 30 January 2025
- S474OTkimb0 contributionsThe best trip with so much nature and historyThe trip from Darwin to Kakadu is long. This is information you know on forehand and you make a decision to do this tour - so no one has the right to complain about that. Tourguide Tim made me totally forget the long drive because his enormous amount of knowledge entertained us all day! He kept on giving us information - in a non-boring way - about everything we saw, the Aboriginals in the area, nature, wildlife, you name it! Every question was answered in a calm, informative and fun way. This was accompanied by his DJ-skills with beautiful indigenous music on this awesome roadtrip. The crocodile cruise was really good (with also a very skilled tourguide) and Fogg Dam was beautiful. Tim made sure to give us enough stops along the way, including a beautiful hike to astonishing rockpaintings. 100% recommended!Written 28 January 2025
- S474OTkimb0 contributionsPerfect trip with so much to seeI absolutely enjoyed this tour with very skilled tourguide Naomi! Not only did she have a massive amount of knowledge about the area and nature, but also her communication- and people skills were outstanding (to me that’s very important in a tourguide!). There was so much to see along the road and she made sure that we got the best out of our experience as a group - including a perfect swim in the (crocfree!!!) Florence Falls! A perfect day and 100% recommended!Written 28 January 2025
- Jon T0 contributionsA must visit if your in DarwinWe booked this trip last minute and was so pleased we did, the crocodile tour was an amazing start, we had Damo and Shano as our guides, great fun and are really passionate about what they do, we have some fantastic photos from the trip, this was a great start. Our guide was Daryl for the whole tour, he was very informative about the landscape and culture, the cathedral termite mounds were incredible, there are a few stops along the way for drinks and snacks, then onto Kakadu, this is a short tour of the indigenous art at Ubirr, the one thing I would say is please listen to your guide, it is very hot at Ubirr and they will insist you take lots of water 1.5L per person is a must! Don’t forget a hat and good walking shoes, the view from the top is incredible. Would highly recommend.Written 22 December 2024
- Jan B0 contributionsA very long and hot day but worth itIt was a long day and Tim the bus driver kept us going with bits of information as we drove down "the track" but to me the highlight was the boat trip and a huge shout out to the young woman who was our guide and boat driver on the Gorge. I'm so sorry I can't remember her name but she was engaging, funny and knowledgeable and had nija boat driving skills.Written 15 December 2024
- unemployedj0 contributionsAn excellent day trip to Kakadu national parkIf you are in Darwin and short for time, then this one day trip is an excellent taster for Kakadu and the surrounding wilderness. It's a long day, so be prepared for this but you already know that Australia is no small country. Our tour consisted of 10 people hosted by our guide Bec. The small 20 seater coach was comfortable, air conditioned and each person had 2 seats to themselves. Along the journey there's lots of wildlife and fauna to see and our guide Bec was very knowledgeable and informative providing a very good commentary along the way and return journey. We stopped at various sites at Kakadu and enjoyed seeing beautiful landscapes as well as aboriginal art on rocks. Plenty of wildlife to be seen, crocodiles, wild buffalo, wallabies, a solitary dingo and an array of bird species. We never felt rushed during the stops at the various locations and our tour guide certainly took good care of us and was never short of providing informative information which made the day extra enjoyable. All in all a very good day out and this trip is highly recommended.Written 28 November 2024
- jasongK9609JI0 contributionsGet a guide not a driverWell, the itinerary looked excited and started off great with crocodile tour…look at them snappas!! Then Kakadu and the journey became fragmented. It turns out our guide was just a driver. He would drive us to various places and then start his guiding. After we would view something we turn and he’s gone. Turns out he was going ahead of the group to take his own pictures first. He would stand and snap at the best vantage point and we would have to queue behind him. If you could not keep up with his “speed guiding” you were out of luck. Oh , and if you are feeling bad from the heat, don’t count on this driver/guide turn to your fellow tourists. I wish the crocodile dudes could have come instead…true Aussie hosting and guiding!Written 10 November 2024
- 307kamalp0 contributionsWell organised and very enjoyableA day tour with a hike to Leliyn - Edith Falls which included a quick dip at the natural pool and then to Nitmiluk National park to see the Katherine gorge inclusive of a boat ride sounded exhaustive, but this was exactly what the Autopia tours have nicely compressed into their package to this part of the Northern Territory. Distance from Darwin was several hundred kilometres and our group comprised of a mix of young and elderly. We were picked up from the hotel around 6.30 in the morning while it was still dark and we were able to witness the sunrise along our way on the Stuart Highway heading to Adelaide River where we broke journey at the "Adelaide River Post office and store" for refreshing and picking up food items for breakfast and or lunch. This was an interesting rural café, post office and a store where we were able to get coffee and pick up some delicious Sandwiches to take for our lunch on-the-go. Our driver guide “Rick” gave us a fantastic commentary about Darwin during the second world war and the consequences of bombings and he explained many other things of tourist value in the areas we were crossing during the journey. He took us passing the World War II cemetery in Adelaide River which was supposed to be the only one in Australian soil, which appeared to be very well maintained and then to the old causeway across Adelaide River showing us the level to which this river rose during the last devastating floods which submerge a large land mass. We had another stop at Pine Creek to refresh ourselves and finally arrived at Leliyn “Jawoyn Leliyn Kiosk” where we refreshed again and began our hike, first to the Bemang lookout of Edith falls and then to the upper pool for a quick dip and thereafter proceeded to get back to the bus. Rick took care of us by joining us on the hike and always remained closer to the weaker elderly to make them feel safe and assisted. The hike was a bit strenuous in warm weather, a bit more than expected for some but with a slower pace everyone was able to complete the loop to hurry to the next destination. Edit Fall was very pretty cascading down in two tiers. Water temperature was extremely soothing for the bathers. Boat operators were ready and waiting to welcome us for the boat ride and Autopia travels have pre-booked our tickets and it was a quick transfer on a ramp to the awaiting boat to commence the tour. The Katherine gorge tour was excellent and memorable. The pre-historic rock art were marvellous. The tour was well organised and we were in safe and caring hands of the driver guide “Rick” who did an excellent job.Written 3 November 2024
- John E0 contributionsEnjoyable TourNice and comprehensive tour through the Litchfield NP and very nice spots. All in all a quite enjoyable tour, thanks to our guide Rick. Just be aware that there can be a lot of people at some spots.Written 14 October 2024
- 54chadel0 contributionsAn underwhelming experience. Good for visiting watering holes only.Fairly underwhelming tour unfortunately. Our croc tour ran 30 mins behind meaning the big boat went out first and got to see many jumping crocs whilst our small boat was only able to see 2. Because our croc tour ran behind, this then has a effect onto the rest of our Litchfield tour. I specifically picked this one as it was planned to visit 3 watering holes but our tour guide (Lloyd) decided to cut our opportunity of swimming at Florence Falls due to alleged ?rough conditions and the heat.. but that’s exactly why we wanted to go there? To cool off? So we only had a small opportunity to walk to a viewing platform to see that. I also felt many of Lloyd’s stories were unprofessional and simply not needed. He was also sick. Coughing the whole way through the trip and even told some of us at one of the stops that he shouldn’t have been working as he needed antibiotics but needed the money! Unbelievable! He also lit up a cigarette at the Termite mounds which I felt wasn’t a good look for the company, or himself, especially after complaining how sick he was. Overall, I felt this tour was way too long with too much time needed to get to each spot and Lloyd didn’t provide the experience I was expecting after reading other reviews. Go for the watering holes if anything but pack snacks and your ear phones so you can listen to music to distract yourself during the long drives.Written 7 October 2024

- Sharon B0 contributionsAn enjoyable experience. We would recommend it to others. Our tour guide Dani was very experienced and knowledgeable. She was really keen to answer any questions and helpful. - charles63460 contributionsIt's a long day but it's a good dayThis trip is long. It starts at 6:30 AM. I would have liked to have had hotel pick up. The trip ended at 9:30 PM. The bus was new and there was space for 27 people. The Driver/Guide was very good. The drive is boring. We did stop twice to buy snacks and lunch. I would wait and buy lunch at the snack shack at Edith Falls. We were able to swim at the pond at Edith Falls which was refreshing. The cruise through Katherine gorge was very good.Written 24 September 2024
- H3672VFcolinp0 contributionsAutopia 5 day camping experience Kakadu,Katherine Gorge and LitchfieldDaryl the driver/tour guide excellent, couldn’t do enough to support not so well client. His knowledge of culture and wildlife pretty good and would highlight when he didn’t know something as well as having extremely keen eyes to spot wildlife. Campsites basic but adequate, where Daryl would lead the cooking and a was a reasonable cook at that. Food plentiful, though limited choice offered initially, Daryl always able to provide an acceptable alternative eg. Non fish eater, offered ham. What was surprising was the obvious lack of maintenance to the 4 wheel drive vehicle, the 3 securing screws of the lock for the rear passenger door, were missing from the start. This meant the lock was NOT secure. Also the handle spindle kept falling out partially and completely, in either case, Daryl was unable to open the door from the outside, though it operated fine from the inside. Additionally, the initial microphone/headset was so Intermittent that you couldn’t hear much of what Daryl was saying. Fortunately at the 1st night campsite stop, Daryl was able to get another headset from another Autopia tour guide, also at the site. For me and my wife, the tour could have done with a bit more emphasis on the wildlife, but that said, it was a good tour all the same.Written 24 September 2024

A really good way to get a feel of country in the Top End. Ben our guide was very knowledgeable and he was very passionate in his delivery, making the long miles travelled pass in a very informative and jolly way. Overnight accommodation at Anbinik Kakadu Resort was adequate and the food Ben rustled up was tasty and much appreciated after a long day, which included croc spotting on the billabong wetland cruise, a visit to a cultural centre to gain more insight into the traditional owners, country and culture, and a sunset walk around Ubirr which featured lots of amazing rock art. The ride down to Maguk on day 2 was interesting in the tour bus given she’d never ridden off road before, and after our first wild swim, as Ben wasn’t feeling too great, up popped Andrea in the 4WD to sweep us back to Anbinik for a bbq, ably assisted by crew member Becca. Day 3 we were up at the crack of dawn to witness a beautiful sunrise at Gurrungkuy and a short walk down to the Anbangbang billabong saw a couple of Jaberoos grazing amongst the huge flock of Great Egrets. We lunched at the start of the scramble to Jim Jim Falls after a loooong washboarded stretch of gravel and a crazy technical 10km off road to this very remote and special place. The trail to the waterhole was not for the faint hearted, although short, quite challenging, but the reward was magnificent and one could only feel very grateful to be in such a wonderful place. After Jim Jim was the long drive down to Pine Creek where the landscape changed on leaving Kakadu through the Daly River region and into Nitmiluk. We had excellent grilled barra at the local hostelry and a good nights sleep in en suite rooms. Day 4 we had another treat in store as we made an early getaway to enjoy the delights of Edith Falls. If wild swimming is your bag, then this trip is unmissable. It was great to learn more about country and the traditional caretakers of the land. Autopia did a great job and I would certainly travel with them again

Such a great tour to get a overview of Kakadu National Park. Ben was our guide and his wealth of knowledge and passion for this area and it's people provided an experience that gave more than your average tour. The small group adventure meant that we got to know some lovely people while hiking, swimming and sharing unforgettable experiences. Ben took great care to make sure that all tour members were comfortable and managing along the walks and provided good food for hungry hikers throughout the day.
The afternoon at Ubirr, walking through rock art sites followed by a beautiful evening sunset, was a highlight. Unfortunately conditions meant that we had to miss Jim Jim falls but the substituted Yellow Water Cruise was great for croc and bird watching. Swimming in the natural waterholes at Maguk and Edith Falls was so refreshing and the feel of summer after a cold Sydney winter was delightful.
Highly recommend this tour if you want a taste of outback Australia.

We had a fantastic time on this tour with our wonderful guide Jay. This tour covers a huge area - Kakadu and south to Pine Creek. We saw Aboriginal rock art, beautiful sunsets and sunrises, lots of wild life and native trees, rock formations and swam in some great water holes. Jay was our driver, cook, and shared her comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of Kakadu. We did a lot in the 4 days, and had lots of laughs. I thoroughly recommend this tour. Age is no barrier to going on it, provided you are physically fit and enjoy bushwalking.

We felt very lucky to have the tour guide that we did. He had an impressive work ethic with cooking our meals and re-planning the itinerary when certain places were unavailable. Elderly and less mobile guests were well looked after. Our guide's knowledge on local flora, fauna, culture and history was also fantastic.
Vehicle was spacious and comfortable, as was the accommodation.
Sights were spectacular.

Just back in Darwin after a wonderful 4 days of adventure with the amazing Mel as our tour guide. There was so much to do and see with just the right mix of scenery and culture. Mel kept us entertained, both on the bus with her extensive knowledge of the area and in the evenings with her guitar and singing. It was such a fun group of people to travel with, I miss them already!

I highly recommend this tour. Four days gave us ample opportunity to explore Kakadu and take in its immense natural beauty. We saw crocs, stunning birdlife, and water buffalo. It was wild! Our tour guide Andrea took us to several significant aboriginal rock art sites, introducing stories and cultural traditions. We were in good hands with Andrea as our guide. We swam in beautiful gorges at Jim Jim, Maguk, and Edith Falls. Our accommodation (bungalow style at Jabiru and motel at Pine Creek) was comfortable, clean, and perfect for recharging our batteries. Andrea prepared delicious food and we ate so well throughout the trip. Kakadu's scenery was truly awe inspiring. This was a great trip!

I booked this tour mainly because of the rave 5-Star reviews I saw and I was not disappointed. Taking the 4 days to explore this vast and incredible region is really the only way - you would miss out if you tried to do it in a shorter time. Our tour guide/driver, Richard, informed and entertained us all through the trip and ensured everyone was involved no matter their level of fitness.I was the oldest in the group of 12 and also about to have surgery but that did not prevent me from experiencing the beauty and magic that is Kakadu. Richard is very knowledgeable having lived in the Top End for many years and gave us great insights into the Aboriginal culture and the incredible natural world we encountered in Kakadu. He really brought the whole group together and we truly enjoyed the scenery, the wildlife, the awesome geology and his entertaining stories. You must expect to travel long hours on the tour bus because Kakadu is huge but it was certainly worth it. The accommodations were quite basic but comfortable and we all pitched in to help with the meals and packing the bus which helped to make us a group together rather than a bunch of strangers. I'd highly recommend this trip

This tour was fantastic! Our guides Andreas and Tiffany were excellent. Andreas was so passionate about sharing his learnings and passing them on to us. Being a small group tour (13 people) in very comfortable 4x4 bus we had a very personable and at times quite flexible experience. Spending 4 days in Kakadu allowed us to see so much of the area. The group was made up of both couples and singles. We saw so much of Kakadu in the time we were there. Well worth doing.

Hi there, the trip is looking amazing and I would b ver kee to book it for my and my husband. However, I would like to know if yo cater for special diets. I know remotely sourcing different food is challenging, but I am a vegan, not consuming any meat, dairy or eggs, only eating plant based food. Please let me know if you can accommodate this, which would be much appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance!
