- FellowTraveler8114900 contributionsKakadu - a long day but worthwhile to visitOne day tour with AAT Kings out of Darwin. A very long day (13 hours) but very educational. The bus driver Libby was amazing, with interesting commentary for the 31/2 hour trip to the national park and a movie on the way back. Tour of Aboriginal Cultural centre was a little brief but the bayou boat trip with guide Dennis was amazing. Lots of crocodile and bird life to observe. Very enjoyable lunch followed by a visit to Aboriginal rock paintings, and then the long ride back to Darwin. All in all a worthwhile experience. Bus was air conditioned and comfort stops well scheduled.Written 23 October 2024

I'm so happy I chose to join this trip which went way beyond my expectations, providing me with valuable insights and new experiences to challenge me out of my comfort zone. To top it off all my posts and pics got rave comments. Well done again Kimberley Off Road Adventures - you definitely live up to your nameWritten 21 October 2024
- bruce m0 contributionsExploring a great countryWe had the pleasure of the well educated Elliott as out tour guide and driver for this fabulous journey from Darwin to Adelaide and with all of the many stops in-between. The journey was very educational and enjoyable as we took in so much of the central part of Australia over 13 days. Recommend this for any person who wants to see our great country.Written 16 October 2024

Martin took us to some of the most amazing places, heaps of information and helped everyone to get to the end of our hikes. Very well organised would thoroughly recommend this trip. Helped us all connect as a group, Martin helped us get to destinations early to enjoy our swim or sightseeing. Great variety of meals.Written 2 August 2024

- Marg A0 contributionsIncredible experience in Arnhem LandI took the seven day tour to Kakadu and Arnhem Land, and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the trip. Kimberley off-road adventure tours (Kapalga travel) are masters of outback travel. We visited many amazing Aborginal art sites, truely breathtaking countryside and enjoyed the great company of the other travellers in our small group. Martin is an extremely capable and good humoured guide. He is very knowledgeable, and was considerate of the varying interests and capability of all the members of our group. Camping under the stars and watching breathtaking sunsets were highlights, not to mention the epic fishing adventure we had. I’m not a fisher but I caught a 13 kilo jewfish in Port Essington. A truely memorable experience.Written 14 June 2024

Thoroughly recommend this trip, wonderful experiences with like minded fellow travellers and excellent guides. Some challenging (for me) hikes, rewarded with magnificent swims in crystal clear pools and waterfalls, views and rock art. Our guides had a true passion for the country, flora and fauna, leading us well in the journey. If you’re up for something a bit different, thoroughly recommend this team !!!Written 31 May 2024

- francoiseNParis0 contributionsA unique and memorable adventure into the wildA unique Australian and Northern Territory experience, especially for a French participant. Not only getting close to the Nature and enjoying numerous hikes, waterfall and hot spring "swimming" but also having a better understanding of the human background of this region, thanks to our guide Adam who shared with us his true love for it. Magnificent diversified sceneries, amazing rock paintings, numerous wildlife. Great camping (did you say swag?!), great food, would it be for picnic lunches or dinners around the fire. A joyful participation of everyone to the cooking and logistics. In short: an extraordinary adventure, to do absolutely. Merci Kimberley off-road adventure Tours!! FrancoiseWritten 19 July 2023
- Phillippa630 contributionsUnique adventure creating memories for a lifetimeThis trip was an exceptional experience. We slept in swags under a clear starlit sky for 10 nights. All of us assist in packing, unpacking, cooking and cleaning up. Up at 5am bed at 830pm. We discovered hot springs, vast cattle stations in the savannah, sites of historical and cultural significance and billabongs, walking and swiming in waterholes most days . This is challenging country where mining industries, farming and indigenous communities coexist. We travelled through constantly changing unique flora, fauna and geography over the journey, and Adam, our intrepid guide, shared his extensive knowledge and experience with us, helping to deepen our understanding of this vast country. Adam was organized and accommodating. He easily adapted to changing conditions. We cooked over hot coals around the camp site every night, and lunches were picnics in stunning remote locations, with the odd visit to an outback pub. Memories of this unique adventure will stay with me for a lifetime, I recommend it, and look forward to other trips with this group. P. GROGANWritten 9 June 2023
- J193OYalc0 contributionsReal Adventure TripA stunning trip through the Savannah Way, plenty of swimming and a great variety of scenery. The tour guide Adam did an excellent job , very informative on all aspects of country and wildlife , this was my second trip after doing the Broome to Darwin last year and I would thoroughly recommend both experiences to anyone.Written 6 June 2023
- Escape5751150 contributionsAmazing experienceAn immersion into this remote area. Natural beauty, pools and falls to swim in, rock formations, rivers crossings, amazing sunrises and sunsets, rock art, understanding of the tropical savannah. Thankyou.Written 29 May 2023
- Cassandra R0 contributionsExcellent Savannah RoadtripThe Savannah Way has remarkable countryside. This is a must do trip and our guide Adam U was so informative and fun. This was our second adventure with Kimberley Offroad Tours. The 11 days went quickly and we could have easily kept going. We had a mixture of camping experiences including bush camps, camps with bush toilets, camps with outdoor showers and deluxe caravan parks. We slept in swags without our tent cover each night gazing at the stars. Each dinner was a work of art cooked on an open fire. Each day there were a number of activities, and swimming every day in rock pools, rivers, under waterfalls and ponds. The scenery changed often. We highly recommend this tour.Written 21 May 2023

This is the best Off-road trip from Darwin to Broome you could go on. I loved every moment of it. Martin our driver and tour guide was excellent and the best tour guide I have ever had. He enabled us through his leadership to have wonderful experiences including seeing stunning scenery, walking among the ancient landscapes such as seeing the sun rise over the Bungle Bungles, swimming under waterfalls and in pools of gorges just to list a few. Every day there was at least one fantastic experience which you did not think could be topped but the next day it was.
The food was plentiful and very yummy and under Martin’s direction my fellow campers worked very well as a team to cook and set up for meals. Martin had done his homework and was able to give us so much helpful and interesting information about the places we were to visit.
One of my favourite things was sleeping under the stars at the wonderful bush camps Martin had chosen for us. On our last night of the trip Martin found a new wonderful bush camping spot where we had a 360 view of the night sky. It was such a last fantastic night to experience.
If you love camping, seeing stunning scenery and adventure and want to see the Kimberley without driving yourself this is the tour for you. You will spend a night sleeping on an island in Lake Argyle, see beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the stunning Kimberley region and have so many amazing experiences that will have you saying as one of our campers said often ‘ this trip has exceeded my expectations’ Kimberley Off Road adventures from Darwin to Broome will exceed your expectations and you will want it never to end.
Special thanks to Adam and Lucy whose family owned company is Kimberley Off Road Adventures and were so understanding with rescheduling our proposed trip during 2020 and 2021, finally going on it recently. Adam’s passion for the bush and sharing it so that others have the best time of their lives is evident in the itinerary and I can vouch for that. Lucy his wife is excellent in communication with you being very happy to have any questions asked.
It is camping with sleeping in swags or in a tent and you do not have toilets at every campsite but this is part of the charm of the trip. The truck.used was very comfortable and their can be no more than 17 passengers. It is the perfect trip to see the Kimberley with age no barrier.
Final thanks.to Martin for all his efforts to make this a trip of a lifetime.

It was great to be in the great outdoors, sleeping under the stars, walking with fellow travelers, and guided by Adam. He is incredibly capable and knowledgeable and a fun leader for the trip. He provided lots of salad and fresh fruit and catered to dietary requirements. The highlights for me included swimming in many clear, cool rock pools and camping a night on an island in Lake Argyle—lovely swim there too in the lake. It felt remote and we had a lovely sunset and sunrise. The Bungle Bungles are dramatic and had good walks there. The walk in El Questro Gorge was challenging, especially if you aren’t young anymore, with lots of clambering over rocks and boulders but it was satisfying to reach the pool at the top as a reward. All in all a great nine day trip, with great communications with Lucy prior to setting off. Recommend this adventure if you like to travel with a small group of people who like to pitch in with all activities and tasks along the way.

For those that want a real adventure that involves swag/tent living, being involved in all aspects of each day to experience the true Gibb River road, Argyle lake and Bungles area, I would recommend this trip. No big operation being herded around to set agenda, small business trying hard to provide a true outdoor experience in a fascinating remote area. We were comfortable, well fed and had some unscripted experiences that made the trip a memory to recall. Small operations like this one rely heavily on the tour guide. Martin our guide put a lot of himself into ensuring we missed nothing, the experience was happy, light and funny when it needed to be and caring and thoughtful when it needed to be. Excellent trip of 9 days with many more experiences than I can add here.

What an amazing experience for all in our family of 5! From the the first day it was clear that our guide, Martin, had our comfort and enjoyment front of mind. We loved the landscapes, the camping, the waterholes and waterfalls, the food and the comradery. We encountered unseasonal rain forcing itinerary changes that, though different to planned, were still so special. The night on an isolated island in Lake Argyle was a highlight and closely followed by sunrise at The Bungles, sunset over The Pentacost and every one of Martin's secluded bush camps.

This trip was a once in a lifetime experience seeing all the best parts of the Kimberley. Dan was an enthusiastic, friendly and knowledgeable tour guide who made the trip the best it could possibly be. I couldn't believe the value for money with this trip, with walks, scenery and swims almost every day, delicious lunches and campfire dinners. Some of the most memorable things I've ever done were on this trip, from a sunrise walk through the Bungle Bungles to a sunset swim in Lake Argyle. So hard to pick a favourite part, everything is just beautiful. May was the perfect time of year to go, weather was perfect and the waterfalls were flowing. I am already planning my next trip, I loved the camping experience so much. Slept better in my swag than I did in my Darwin hotel! Seriously can't recommend this trip enough!

9 days creating memories and making friends, surrounded by the vast beauty of our land.
Each morning I awoke thinking that we couldn't possibly top the day before but we did. Navigating rocky gorges to pristine waterfalls, swimming with freshwater crocs at our side, watching breathtaking sunsets and sleeping under a billion stars.
This is true bush camping-digging your toilet, covered in dust that you wash off with a swim, rolling out your swag and waking up at sparrows fart to do it all again.
It was exhausting, exhilarating and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.
Our group ranged between 30 to 78 and all had different strengths and abilities which Martin, our guide, supported and encouraged along the way so we all got the most from our experience. This combined with his knowledge, bad jokes and great calf muscles made for a unique experience!
If you want to connect with country and reconnect with yourself, then this is the trip for you.

Just completed Kapalgas first tour of the season from Broome to Darwin. Part of the Gibb River road was closed which meant having to add a few extra mikes to our journey. The team at Kapalga figured out an alternative route and we still managed to go to all the places on the itinerary. Adam Utschink our tour guide passion and knowledge of this area, country and flora and fauna was amazing. The highlights of this trip were Bungle Bungles and Lake Arglyle boat and camp ( apart from the Mosquitoes) If you like camping, hiking, swimming, and are prepared to get involved with setting up camp and preparing/cooking meals as well as meeting other people and getting to know them then I highly recommend this trip. If it wasn't for the long flight from UK to Australia id be on one of Kapalgas tours every year!

Excellent tour with great fresh food and well-planned. Martin our tour guide and driver is very knowledgeable and kept us very well-informed of what was going to happen and dealt with unexpected circumstances in a very professional manner. Martin's humour, knowledge of the Stars and his experience with longer tours was certainly an advantage for our group. As stated in the trip notes you are required to get in and help with meals and putting up and setting up camp and as a group helping to overcome the unexpected. Would highly recommend this tour to the adventurous.
There were so many highlights such as Lake Argyle the bungle bungles, bush camps and nights around the fire. We made so many friends and have wonderful memories of our adventure across the Kimberley.

Our family of five thoroughly enjoyed this trip. A great itinerary to see a lot of the amazing sights, wildlife and birds the region has to offer in only nine days. Adam (the owner) has obviously put a lot of time and effort into discovering fantastic, secret spots, which Adam (our tour guide) was able to miraculously lead us to.
A great mix between virgin bush camps under the stars and camp sites with much appreciated amenities including the bar at El Questro!
A great bunch of fellow travellers on our tour with the same mindset- pitch in and get the jobs done and then off to enjoy another great day of adventure, before retiring around the campfire.
Thanks to Adam and Lucy for providing great facilities, food and itinerary. Thanks to the very knowledgeable, interesting and competent Adam our tour guide who made every day a surprise adventure! And to our group for all the laughs and interesting conversations.
Tips: don’t take light coloured clothing (you can’t escape the red dirt), it’s colder than I expected in the evenings and early mornings and buy any alcohol you want before you start the tour.

It was all excellent from start to finish. Martin, our guide/driver was everything you could have hoped for. He was a good safe driver. He was funny, friendly, and considerate. He knew how to motivate us to get up and going early so as to make the most of the day. The camping was excellent. I didn't realise there were so many stars in the sky. Lake Argyle was a highlight. Don't do this tour if you want to be waited on. You have to pitch in and help with the cooking, washing up, erecting the tents and rolling your swag. It was so worth it. And it was very reasonably priced. There is plenty of walking, swimming, and wildlife. A must do once in your lifetime.

Hi Sarah,
Yes, the maximum is 16 which is just right as on my tour we bonded well as a team... ages 78–26 thanks to Adam’s low key, relaxed leadership. The transport is comfortable, air conditioned and though we travelled. 2,800 kms there were many stops during the day for adventures, swims and a.fantastic boat ride on Lake Argyle.
Go for it Adam is offering some great discounts.
