About the operator
- jdrew4300Well worth a visitWell worth a visit. Very informative . Virtual reality of bombing of Darwin, going inside RFD plane all great experiences. .
- 411kiaram00Informative and enjoyable.Enjoyable tour. Plenty of information. Museum was great. Guides on the boat very knowledgeable. Bus tour showed us more than we could have found on our own.
- 679mareea00Worth the price.Very well organized. The narrator spoke very clearly and we could hear everything he said. There were couple of naval ships in the bay so it created more atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this tour as we really enjoyed it. Good price as you get to see the RFDS also which is very interesting.
- kenfD1515CZ00Cruising the harbour with an historical highlight.A great experience combining a harbour cruise with very interesting information about the bombing of Darwin. The tour operators were very knowledgeable, friendly and full of interesting anecdotes.
- 548jacquieb00Bombs, Boats and PlanesSuper interesting. The guides were very knowledgeable. The RFDS display was interesting and the WW11 3D experience was informative and fun. Great way to start our discovery of Darwin history.
- O3135VGnaomim00Disappointing not value for money .Interesting tour which could been great but not as advertised . One of the main reasons we took the tour was for the underwater camera to see the ship wreckage. The camera was not working and appeared it had not been working for some time the guide made some comment about it not working last few days . Not the guides fault but we feel this should have been made clear prior to our tour. This is really one of the main reasons for taking the tour as most other things can be viewed from shore . Secondly we shared a tour with a large school tour group who were given prime seats up the front of the boat and we were stuck up the back despite having been at the dock earlier than the group arrived . I do not feel they should have sold the additonal seats on this tour if we were going to be treated as less favoured guests . It effected the experience of my five year old as up the back the boat is higher and so the structure of the boat makes it harder to see and despite the guides saying we could sit on coaches towards front it had no sun coverage and they were low and facing wrong way . I just don’t agree that as paying guests we should have been treated this way. Normal protocol on a cruise is guests are let on in order they arrive . I think the guide could tell I was not impressed and tried to accomodate us but really I think the combo of the camera not working and then being stuck at back would mean I wouldn’t recommend this as value for money . For a family of 4 it’s an expensive hour $180 and for that price these things should be taken care of . Particularly the camera it was not as advertised and we should have been offered another tour or something
- J4085BXpeterm00Bus and harbour tourWell organized with excellent guides volunteering historical and local cultural information with suggestions for further activities. Included visits to war relics, vivid descriptions of the conditions and the geopolitical events. Harbour tour of war graves and big picture of the bombings. Interesting comments and your of architectural changes before and after the war and cyclone Tracey.
- jc22200A Great Harbour Tour..........An excellent way of exploring the past and to understand what had happened during the bombing of Darwin. The tour guides knew their history and well able to share a host of informative examples of what happened, when. The boat was extremely comfortable and was very well suited to dashing around the harbour with a minimum of fuss. An extremely good tour and is highly recommended.
- Dave_Sinclair00Good insight into Darwin's historyNice tour of Darwin Harbour with a knowledgable commentary. Kerry and Ella looked after us well. The RFDS museum is an added bonus.
- K5906RDdeed00Very informative and enjoyableLoved the Harbour Cruise. Both guides were very good and informative. Enjoyed walking through the facility, watching the movies and having a look in the RFDS plane. I learnt a lot from doing this tour.
- aussiewanderers00NOT MUCH TO SEEThe boat used is very sturdy and fast, making the tour feel safe even in windy and choppy conditions. The two staff on the boat do their best to give a good oral account of the initial bombing but the exhibits they have to work with are poor in the sense they are either no longer on the shore or in the water or are so distant, it is difficult to see any detail of them (gun placements, buildings bombed etc). Overall, you will get a superior understanding of the bombing history if you skip the boat tour and just attend the WWII bombing experience on Stokes Hill Wharf (see separate review).
- aussiewanderers00SUCCINCT AND NOVEL PRESENTATION OF WWII HISTORYAn effort has been made here to use technology to the maximum extent possible to both entertain and inform about the bombing of Darwin in WWII. While the floor area is not big, the amount of information conveyed is large. Children will not be bored at this museum, the virtual experiences guaranteeing that. The only criticism I could make is that the display concentrates on the initial bombing and fails to make the truthful point that Darwin was bombed over 60 times during the war, not just once or twice. The entry ticket is combined with a museum display of the history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, which is interesting but not as spectacular as the WWII efforts. You can also get a combined ticket with SEADARWIN's WWII boat tour of Darwin harbour, but I would not recommend this (see separate review).
- Odyssey M00Great, informative tourGreat tour. Very informative and interesting. Can highly recommend. Tour operators are knowledgeable and give great insights into the tour subject.
- Jamie C00Friendly informative tour of WW2s bomb Ing of DarwinGreat tour with an informative explanation of the bombing of Darwin. Tour bus driver Phillip was very informative safe and friendly. And the guys on the boat did a great job too. Well worth it if you’ve a half day in Darwin.
- Escape1322005606900Darwin WWII Harbour Tour Package ExperienceThe tour was very informative and really brought home the terror and reality of the surprise attack that the people of Darwin had to endure for so long. Was certainly worth the experience and so glad we took the tour. The only small downside was knowing how to get to the virtual viewing part of the tour, as the staff in the RFDS facility were not aware that we had this included in our tour package. But did get sorted by the friendly staff.

An amazing way to see sunset on Darwin Harbour. The team looked after us well with great local fish & chip pickup on the way to dock prior to the sensational sunset. Highly recommend and enjoyed the water donuts 💦

Really enjoyed the cruise. Georgia and Sam were fantastic hosts. The food was good and the sunset was amazing. The best part was landing on the sandbank and watching the sunset. We were even entertained by some dolphins. Sam the Skipper gave the kids on board a few thrills at the end by doing a couple of donuts with the boat. Would highly recommend this cruise.

Magic sunset tour! The fast boat was fun, scooting around the city to Cullen Bay with a glass of bubbles! We were a little hesitant about the quality of the fish & chips, BUT how wrong were we! They were absolutely delicious! Batter was crisp & there were 2 large thick pieces of fish & the chips were great as well!
Now, the sunset…. WOW, WOW, WOW! Was truely amazing & we stayed watching the magnificent sky change colour for at least 20mins before we headed back to the Pier. Such a wonderful memory.

What an amazing experience. I live in Darwin and have had the pleasure of taking many cruises but this has a point of difference. Fish & Chips with a glass of your favourite tipple taken straight from Cullen Bay Fish & Chips was unique. We then motored slowly directly towards the sunset with the opportunity of the staff taking your photograph off the bow with your own camera with the sunset in the background. The boat powered by 4 x 300 hp engines makes it a speedy return when required. Well worth the trip.

This was a great experience and good fun as the boat travelled at high speed at times but was calm and sedate while viewing the sunset.
The boat was a nice compact size and the staff were friendly.
The sunset was magnificent, and a surprise bonus was the silhouette view of the city with the sunset colours behind it.
Calamari was delicious but fish and chips were not great.

Thank you for your kind words Michelle, we're glad you had a lovely experience - the sunsets have been pretty special lately! I appreciate your feedback regarding the fish n chips - I have followed this up with La Beach (the restaurant), and hope that the matter has been rectified moving forward.

Disappointed with their cancellation policy, charged us $10 per person to cancel our tour despite not being able to travel from Sydney to Darwin due to lockdown. Read the fine print and don’t book if you think you may have to cancel. Every other business we dealt with in the NT fully refunded us and replied personally within a few days which Sea Darwin didn’t do.

Hi Jessica,
We agree about the importance of checking cancellation policies in these Covid times. We are lucky to have a booking system that ensures our customers are aware of our terms, with a tick box agreement required prior to making a booking. We think your 1 star review is a little harsh. We were responsive in modifying your booking date multiple times without charge, and then we actioned your request for cancellation by email applying the cancellation policy that you had agreed to on booking. We're sorry you're aggrieved, but we do understand that disruption of travel plans is upsetting. All the best for when your travel is able to occur.

This is a must if you are in Darwin, the perfect way to see a Darwin sunset. Well worth the price which was $99/adult and $89 for our 14 yo. The serving of fish and chips was generous, it also includes a glass of wine/ bubbles or a choice of 2 different beers, you can purchase any subsequent drinks and you get to keep the wine glass/ stubby holder. Kerry the captain was informative and explained all the relevant land marks, I'm sorry I can't remember the 2 girls who were with him but they were informative and very attentive to the passengers. Also we had booked for a different night but our daughter had an opportunity to do something on that night and I can't speak highly enough of Heather in the office who although thought she might not be able to move us managed to make it happen. We did the cruise on our last night in Darwin and it topped of an amazing week and sent us home wanting more.

This was an excellent way to experience the magnificent Darwin sunset from the water. The boat was comfy and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We cruised to Cullen Bay, collected our fish and chips (which were delicious) and then sat with a glass of bubbles/wine/beer watching the sunset light up the sky. We highly recommend this experience.

Hello there,
We would love to book this cruise. However I am not good at ship/boat due to my vertigo. Although my condition is not too bad, I just wanted to know how smooth/rough this boat gets. It is a "Dry" season now, so hope it's not too bad, I suppose? We are looking at booking on this weekend 18th/19th June, 2021. Looking forward to your prompt reply. Thanks.

We went out and the water was calm. We are leaving Darwin today and other than a couple of days with a bit of a breeze, the water is fine. Just note that the boat travels at high speed and does donuts before heading back to harbour. If you want calm/slow cruise, I would suggest one of the other options for dinner cruise.

Hi, my husband is disabled and uses Canadian crutches to walk or a small mobility scooter for long distances. Is this Sunset Cruise 'safe' for us...the boat looks smallish, but the deal sounds lovely. And is there a toilet on board? We will be there on Sunday 13th October '19. I really would appreciate feedback from you all!! Cheers...Jill McNamara

Hi there. There is definitely a toilet on board. As for the accessibility issues you raise, why not give the operators a call and have a chat with them directly.
:)
My wife is unable to have any flour coated fish or chips sprinkled with seasoning containing flour or wheat. In other words it MUST be gluten free. Is that possible on your cruise?

We booked and paid on line prior to boarding. Best to book ahead to make sure you get a seat. Drinks during the trip were paid by credit card on board. Really good trip, not too formal, relaxing and friendly and also not too long. Sunset was awesome. Well worth it. The fish and chips were great. Recommend this trip over a formal dinner cruise if that’s what you like. Hope this helps. Gary
