A good overview of Darwin but expensive.
Good itinerary but quite expensive. Commentary: Seemed there was a lot of missing information, and it was irritating with the bad jokes. The driver was helpful when asked but not overly engaging or friendly.

Hop on for a great ride.
The bus was great. It was on time (driver would wait if he ran ahead of schedule). Commentary was informative and provided plenty of details about historical Darwin and the present day Darwin. All of the drivers were helpful and provided directions when passengers left the bus.

      Feeling very ripped off.
We came via cruise ship. Midafternoon. Bought tickets $84 for the both of us (pensioners discount price)! We asked the person who sold us the tickets if they stop at the museum. The answer was yes, but failed to mention that we probably will be short on time. We didn’t get off at any other stop but the museum only to realize that the museum would close in 1/2 hour at 4pm and even worse, last hop on hop off was 4.25pm from the museum. There would have been some more stops we would have hoped off, but they also closed 4pm. So, you happily took our money, knowing very well we couldn’t utilize the tickets. So if you come via cruise in the afternoon, don’t buy a ticket, it’s a total waste of money!!

Older bus, Big Bus Tours app doesn't include Darwin maps
Tour was OK but commentary difficult to hear as it was an old bus without headphones. Convenient that tour stops at cruise terminal but inconvenient in that the queue was more than 1 whole bus full, so further 20 minutes or so waiting in the heat for the next bus. App for the Big Bus Tours doesn't include Darwin maps so can't have live location of buses or details of stops. You can book tickets for Darwin via the app but it isn't one of the options if you want to "change cities" (it isn't listed). Maybe this is a work in progress...

      City Overview
A great way to get an informative overview of Darwin. The commentary was clear and interesting with plenty of good photo opportunities as we went around. We did the entire loop first and then went back to the stops we wanted to see more of. The only downside was that the service finished at 4 pm.

      Big red bus Darwin
Bought our tickets on line and arrived in Darwin via cruise ship.the lines to board the buses where crazy, understandable considering almost 3k people where on board the ship and no doubt a lot where going to use Big Red Bus! No-one seemed to have a clue what was going on and obviously the guys running the show were not given any heads up there was a cruise ship on the way! Lines of people asking questions and reps just walking away as if to throw their hands up in the air plus hour long waits to board a bus we decided to just walk into town and have a look around, We did eventually get a bus but to be honest it was a waste of time and money would have used my time better to have just stayed aboard the ship relaxing!

      Rude and disorganised…
Absolute appallingly managed. Disorganised and rude. Bought the ticket online. Joined the queue to be told it wasn’t validated, and to join another queue. Get to front and told no more tickets were available - to add insult to injury the ticket guy just walks off!!!!! They know a cruise ship is coming in and THEY blame the cruise ship for not laying on enough buses - nothing to do with cruise ship! What are we supposed to do!? how do we get a refund???

      Very informative tour
We did both loops on the one day pass. It was a very informative ride and we learned a lot about Darwin and its history. You could get on and off this bus at any of the stops. It was well worth it and I highly recommend taking this tour.

Great coverage of the main areas! But a rude driver! Maybe he was having a bad hair day!
I did a 2 day pass? It was great except one really rude driver!! Told me to stop talking to my friend sitting on the seat in front of me!!! I could understand if I was yelling and being disrespectful to other passengers!! But we we just talking to each other up the back of the bus hardly anyone else was up there ! I did put in a complaint but no reply!!

      Useful and worthwhile
We usually check out the hop on/off tour bus and Darwin was no exception. We managed to incorporate both museums into the day trip and really maximized the ticket use. Oddly enough, the hop on/off bus map seemed to be the only map of the city …!

I chose to buy the 48 hour bus ticket and bought my senior’s ticket from the Booth at Stop One. The driver was super helpful explaining the options when I was deciding on my purchase and recommended the purchase of tickets for attractions I planned to visit over the two days. This proved to be a great choice as the line up to purchase tickets at some of the attractions was quite long.
Every driver was courteous and readily provided assistance to those requiring help to enter or exit the bus. They also clearly explained the times for pick up, drop off and location even though the brochure clearly displayed the timetable.

On the first morning a heavy shower saturated the top level seats so the driver quickly provided a chamois and the seats were soon dry, ready for departure. Up top there was a great view and often a cooling breeze which was most welcome. Downstairs was very popular as it was air conditioned, a must on 36 degrees days.

The bus is great value, takes you to the major sites, and even provides a 5pm service on Thursday evenings to the Mindil Beach Markets. The commentary was interesting, informative and often presented with Top End humour.

I’d highly recommend taking the bus if you don’t have your own transport or would prefer just to sit back and relax.

The audio narration of the whole journey is funny and humorous. Good sight seeing trip, We rode on the longer afternoon route, and the views were magnificent. Remember to ask the driver when you get off when the next bus will come.

We bought our tickets in the afternoon which enabled us to have two half days of travel around Darwin with the drop offs and pick ups suiting our transport requirements for dinners and lunch as well as the tourist attractions.. The drivers are friendly and extremely punctual. We never had to wait past expected time. Riding in a double decker was fun and the commentary very interesting, but not sure how visitors without good English would manage.

This bus offers a great way to see the main sights in Darwin without having to rent a car. I was able to see Cullen Bay, the Museum, Parap Market, etc with running commentary and ample time to hop off and explore before the next bus came. Worth every penny!

A great opportunity to see the main attractions, the recorded audio is informative with some Aussie humour. The driver was great, he provided some personal information and tips at the stops on how to best experience Darwin. A local with great passion for the town and lovely customer service. Also had the extra benefit of going out to Mindel markets at 4.30pm after the schedule runs had finished - a unexpected bonus for the day.

For the visitor, the town of Darwin is a relatively small place. This trip helps enormously with orientation around the CBD, Waterfront and close-in suburbs. Staying close to the Waterfront - this tour really helped with my subsequently finding my way around the town. The canned commentary is informative and worked well for me - even if just a little cheesy.

Drivers/Staff were friendly and helpful. The bus frequencies might have been higher - but it was the low (dry)season and they worked well for me.

The slightly longer afternoon circuit was well worth it.

Excellent way to get around Darwin and get your bearings for the rest of your stay. Stops at heaps of the tourist spots and points of interest. We visited the Art Gallery and Military Museam using the bus, and revisited other areas on other days as you don't have time to do them all in a day.
