Kakadau,Katherine and Litchfield great (But read the review )
we did Kadua. , Litchfield Katerine gorge all brilliant , but as other people have mentioned they are very long tours , we did one per day ( BIG MISTAKE ) 6AM start at hotel 8/9 PM return , to early for hotel breakfast , couple of pee breaks on the trip up , maybe a muffin not long enough for 20/30 people to order a coffee, these locations are nowhere near Darwin and you will spend 70/80 % of that time on the coach , with a couple of swimming holes ( they were beautiful ) but by the time you walked down the track , got your swimmers on , one place had no facilities so we got changed out in the open on a rock , then get through the crowd jump in , its time to go , so be prepared with swimmers on already , the commentary along the way was informative , but a tad boring , as there is literally nothing to see along the way ,( flat burnt out vegetation , a few birds and the odd wallaby ( not roos ) so the driver does a good job of commentary about almost nothing , until you arrive at the highlights that are worth the long drive , Now here the kicker people if you do the three locations ,DONT do them separately (14 hour tours each trip) because there is only one highway up there , we saw the same stuff, same commentary, different drivers same blurb , we met a few that took all three but stayed in hotels up there (as they are all in the same region) cost is much the same but you actually can spend more time at the venues without rushing and no coach time , coming back into Darwin at 9 PM is pretty dodgy and nowhere to eat other than a dodgy Maccas. You will thank me if you take the advice they are great locations , long tedious drives

Overpriced tour for what you get and not really worth it.
Long ferry trip - 2.5 hrs each way. Island not well kept and not inviting on arrival. Tour was guided by local Tiwi who showed us what was described on the tour. Lunch was sandwiches and salads all fresh. My Partner who came with me on this tour for a second time, took this tour 25 years ago and observed minimal significant improvements. Disappointed as I wonder where the funds go to what appears to be an overpriced tour. I do hope some funds do go to the communities.

Fantastic guide for Kakadu and Katherine.
Fabulous 3 day tour of Kakadu and Katherine, including jumping crocs cruise, wetland cruise and Katherine Gorge cruise. I can't speak highly enough of our guide Libby. Her depth and breadth of knowledge were brilliant! A great sense of humour too. She also showed her first aid skills when one of our party cut his scalp on a rock overhand on one of the walks. Absolute legend

          Nice day trip
Good timings - pick up 7.30. Drop off at 5pm. Not huge amounts of commentary but a nice helpful driver. Main focus is Litchfield Park waterfalls. Florence Falls pretty rushed in the time allowed - down the steps 5-10 min in the water and walk back via Shadey Creek. Nice though. Tolmer Falls ok and Wangi Falls was great! Enough time and great swimming. Could let go of stopping at airstrip on Stuart highway with cardboard plane cutouts and just focus on the park.

          Too long for one day
Too long for one day. Left at 6.15am and back to hotel at 8pm - too late to eat dinner and too much time on a bus. Recommend NOT doing a day tour to Kakadu unless you like sitting on a bus for hours. Only saw rock art at Nourlange Rock but no time to walk up to the lookout and Yellow Water which was great but that was it apart from a stop at cultural centre. Waited for people who did flight which meant late arrival back in Darwin. Guide/driver Pren was very interesting. Return driver Roman had little of interest to say.

          Crocs Great. Driver Not
Crocodiles were huge. We saw about 4 hungry crocs in their natural habitat. Super cool. Our drive/guide Warren was not good. Unhelpful, very vanilla in his commentary and driving not great. Company should hire passionate safe driver guides, very dissapointing. Enjoyed the bus plus fellow traveller's who were all excited for what is so symbolic to the nt.

An absolutely fantastic Top End experience!
We had a wonderful day with Darren who was really informative about the Park's history and aboriginal culture. The swimming holes were spectacular and the termite mound site mind-boggling, especially with regard to the life cycle of the termites themselves. I would absolutely recommend this day tour to anyone visiting the Top End!

          Magical
Kakadu has always been on my bucket list and this was the best way to do it. Our driver / guide Roman kept us informed and entertained the whole trip and seeing the wonderful yellow water cruise and First Nation's rock art was truly magical.

Expensive tour where you dont see much. Treated like you are a child or elderly. told tp have a drink and keep hydrated about 100 times. Lookout was about 200 meters away but told we coudnt go. spent 1 hour on lunch, food was fine but what a waste of time + morning tea + arvo team - no wonder we didnt see much!. Only highlight was yellow waters cruise.

A Sound trip to the Tiwi with Authentic Aboriginal Guides
I enjoyed this pricy but very interesting tour. The Tiwi Aboriginal guides made it and were interesting funny great sensor of humour and caring. The trip started off chaotically with the ticketing process which took too long. The boat trip was 3 hours and it was choppy. And likewise on the return. The crew were helpful in handing out bags to those feeling ill. The ferry was fully loaded. On arrival the darlings customers were split into 2 equal groups and we proceeded with the tour. We wandered around visiting a good museum and old Catholic Church. The guide gave us some stories of founding of Christianity on the Tiwis and the relationship with the first priest and the islanders. We then visited an art museum which you could purchase locally made items. Lunch was a standard buffet salad and was very tasty. Tea coffee and water were supplied. Then we had the guides paint themselves up and did some cultural dances. These were good and interactive. Finally a bus tour around the town and before we knew it, it was time to farewell our guides. It was a great experience and I felt enriched with knowledge about our First Nation People from the Guides. The ferry trip was very quite choppy and there was some illness on board but sealink staff handed out sick bags it took 3hours. Overall a great tie-me made special by the guides.

Great experience and tour guide but…
Would otherwise rate it a 5 star experience, given the guide/driver is so informative and funny, which made the bus trip to and from the site very interesting. The let down is in the advertised second view point- fogg dam conservatory is not visited- instead a quick stop over at the Howard Spring park to feed a few fish in a pond. When queried with the guide on this itinerary discrepancies, it was advised that the company has recently changed the route but hadn’t updated the marketing materials (including what’s on TripAdvisor). I am not sure if this is an acceptable explanation for a customer bought the experience for its entirety? If only for the jumping croc trip, $155 is at a high end to pay. I provided feedback to AAT king (via online survey), however, never have received any follow up or clarification etc. Please double check the itinerary before you choose this trip.

The Katherine gorge cruise was amazing...but this review is for the aat kings tour.

The itinerary stated above: war cemetery, edith falls, nimeluk visitor centre and cruise is not what the tour entailed.

We boarded the bus at 6:10am and after 10 hotel pick ups left darwin at 6:40am. That was ok.. we then had almost 30 mins at the war cemetry and a second stop for 30 mins at a Cafe in pine Creek. They had amazing cake there but due to the almost 60 people on our bus they ran out and some tourists were ushered onto the bus before they could order coffee.
We were then told we ran out of time for edith falls and were given 10 minutes and not able to swim.
At our lunch in the visitor centre, the buffet ran out and some people didn't get food...

We then had our lovely cruise.
On the way home we stopped at the petrol station in Katherine for 30 minutes for the drivers mandated driving breaks. We then drove to the Adelaide river petrol station for another 15 minute driver break.

We arrived back in Darwin around 9:40pm and were dropped off at our hotel at 10pm. Numerous people choose to get off at other hotels and walk.

We got mcdonalds at 11pm back in our hotel room as no chance to buy dinner.

The cruise was amazing and the cake in pine Creek great. .. a better organised and shorter bus trip would have been appreciated.

I had previously done 2 small group tours through different companies (less than 25 people) and did not realize at time of booking that there would be about 50 people on this tour, given the chance to go again I would book a smaller group tour for this trip.
Our driver was also the tour guide and props to her (I can't remember her name sorry) but that would have been a big day for her driving as well as speaking.

This really was a huge day, understandably Katherine is quite far away, so lots of driving was inevitable, however next time I would hire a car to drive there from Darwin and camp for a few nights as there are canoes for hire in the gorge as well as a walking track which would be nice to do. The gorge cruise was fantastic. Really fantastic!!!

Lunch was a buffet at the visitor center which was semi-okay, however there weren't any snacks provided throughout the day and the first stop in the morning didn't provide many options for breakfast or enough time for every one of the 50 passengers to order a coffee, considering pickup was before 6am I hadn't eaten so this was a little tough.

Edith falls was gorgeous however we were only allowed to spend about 50 minutes here, and this didn't give much time to swim or walk around unfortunately.

I'm looking at this as an expensive taste tester that has given me the knowledge of where/what I would like to do the next time I come to visit NT.

While the required 7 hours of bus travel was inevitable, and resulted in a long day, the organisers did well to highlight the magnificent Katherine Gorge experience, and allow a reasonable time at Edith Falls. 50 people is a large group, and time could so easily be wasted, but Prem, as driver and guide, was able to encourage full co-operation in a friendly manner. Lunch was delicious, plentiful, and prepared for our arrival.

Our bus was comfortable, the air con worked REALLY REALLY REALLY well at some points a little too well (for me). The drive was long but manageable on the way there, we stopped briefly in Adelaide Rivers for a toilet break and then to the cemetery. This was ok, but not great. However you do need to read the story signs to get information or a “story” of the past as this is not a guided tour section. Back on the road and the very very very very long Stuart Highway to Katherine Gorge. You couldn’t help but fall asleep on and off the entire way there. Shane our bus driver was great, he did everything to keep us entertained but even he was bored on the freeway. Before going on this trip we knew how long the trip was going to be so that’s not an issue nor a complaint because unfortunately Darwin is super spread out, it is what it is. We entered Nitmiluk national park to go for a little toilet break and stroll at Edith Falls, we couldn’t go swimming as it is the wet season. Although we stayed for approx 40 minutes we did do a little mini hike (my partner and I) which made this section kind of fun for us because we needed the walk. Back on the bus to go to the gorge, about another hour from Edith falls. We arrived at our buffet lunch at this point I was starving! There was a decent selection, bread, fruit, cold meats and cheese, salad, lasagne, fried Rice and some sort of pastry thing. Straight after lunch we headed down to the river/gorge and onto the boat. Russell was our guide he was funny and made some great jokes. We cruised down he told us some stuff and then back we went. Back onto the bus for the straight 4.5 hours home. Again this was a really long day and overall I feel the drive is to long for the experience and considering we didn’t do a lot and see anything more along the way then mentioned, I feel I would have enjoyed this more if we self drove to the gorge. The description in the adventure advertisement seemed so different to what we actually did. We were just on a bus the entire day and briefly a boat. Again we knew going into this that Katherine was 4.5 hours away however we thought we would learn and see a little more along the way. I would recommend packing snacks, lots and lots of snacks, a tablet, bring spare clothes and a towel incase you get rained on if traveling in the wet season and I would NOT recommend this tour for children as it is really really long for them and not many stops along the way. If traveling with children I would self drive so you can stop as much as you need along the way although keeping in mind you are on the Stuart Highway the entire time. There were no children on our tour but I think it’s worth a mention for parents.
It was a good day for first timers, however I wouldn’t do this again.

Dear Natasha, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your trip to Katherine Gorge. We will pass all of the above on to our operations team in Darwin who are always looking at ways to enhance our guest experience. As you mentioned, it is quite a long way between Darwin & Katherine Gorge so we do appreciate there are times where you are travelling for quite a long distance. Our Day Tours are suited to those with less time when visiting the Top End so we do try to capture all of the highlights of this magnificent region. AAT Kings do also offer longer itineraries across our Short Breaks & Guided Holidays where a more in depth experience is covered. We will be sure to pass on your kind words also to Shane. Kind Regards, Jacob from AAT Kings

Very well organised day, fantastic being with only 4 people and your pilot. We met a beautiful couple travelling from Moree and enjoyed the day together. Everything organised including car transfers and lunch. We had a ball with Luke our pilot who looked after us so well and had so much knowledge and information.
My only comment would be for Kakadu Air! Why haven’t you organised for your pilots to experience the whole day. I was shocked that Luke had never done the cruise (a highlight of day) and also that even though we paid a premium for the day that he wasn’t included in lunch plans. Crazy! Would make so much business sense for the pilots the have experienced the whole day so they can help passengers and sell future trips.

Katherine's many gorges are spectacular and well worth the long day trip. Our guide/driver Prem was very attentive and knowledgeable but wrangling the large number of passengers must have been challenging. He did, however, keep us on track and on time, despite a few stops along the way. Lunch at the Nitmiluk visitor centre was lovely. The highlight of the day was the cruise through two of the gorges and our guide was really enthusiastic and friendly. We learned a lot about the indigenous heritage of the park as well as the geological make up of the area. We had a beautiful sunny day, so it was very hot and some on the tour found that challenging.

Amazing day tour to do the Katherine Gorge Tour. Early pick up from our accommodation & dropped back at 8.30 pm. There are adequate stops during the day with the longest non stop stint being two & a half hours in each direction. Bus carries cold water to top up your water bottles during the day. A lovely buffet lunch is included & a there is a stop on the way back to purchase something small for dinner. It’s a good idea to take plenty of snacks yourself. Prem the driver was very informative & careful driver.
Highlights of the day was the moving visit to the beautifully kept Adelaide River War Memorial & the actual Katherine Gorge. A 500 metre walk is involved across sand, rocks & a boardwalk to change boats to view different gorges. A long day, but well worth it.

We had a great time on this tour - it was something we weren’t willing to arrange and execute on our own so to have it all done for us was perfect as we just sat back and relaxed.

It’s a massive day, be warned. Our kids are 10 and 13 and it was doable but there were many ‘are we there yet’ comments and questions!

The gorge is a must-see and that cruise was absolutely amazing! It’s super hot so bring sunscreen and hats and water bottles (although they do have filtered water under the bus to refill with).

The tour group was huge, and that requires patience as every stop meant waiting to exit, to board, to use the toilets (female line was always 15+ deep) and get food. Lunch was a buffet and pretty nice, we’re vegetarian so just pumpkin, potato, salad and bread for us (but we were happy with that).

The drive home ‘dinner’ was a service station so if you like potato chips, or greasy food, it’s good, otherwise do as we did and pack some nuts, fruit or a sandwich to get you through.

The coach driver was great - well done Prem! The swim at Edith Falls was magic, so beautiful. Oh and bring a charging cable if you think your device might go flat.

What a great day. Our driver Love was excellent. I felt like I was in safe hands with such a long day on the road and he was so polite. Commentary was informative and funny. Swimming at Edith Falls was amazing but would have enjoyed the experience more with a flotation noodle. Katherine gorge is a stunning boat ride and lunch was fantastic. There were slight changes to the itinerary due to COVID with some areas closed but overall I feel like I saw much of what the area has to offer. A long day out but I’m so glad I went

Extremely disappointed in this tour. From the very start the pick up was half hour late by bus company, then trip to war cemetery ( which in itself was a beautifully maintained place of respect) was rushed, onto Edith falls where there was no time for swimming ( part of the tour highlights promoted) rushed onto lunch at the gorge ( very ordinary meal) then onto the cruise which was well done by the national parks guide then back onto bus for an extremely laborious trip back to Darwin via hotel at Pine Creek for a very rushed dinner.
15 hours in total for what was an hour & half on a boat at the gorge. Would not recommend this trip at all.

We're so sorry you didn't enjoy this trip. Our Katherine trips are normally very popular but we do understand this is a very long day. The tour does cover a lot of mileage in a short space of time so we do have to be pretty strict about maintaining the schedule. That said, we never want our guests to feel rushed and we're sorry you feel that way. If you'd like to travel with us again, we're sure your next experience will be a great one, Kind regards AAT Kings Guest Relations
