- Clownfish880 contributionsAwesome experience - amazing sunrise, great breakfast, super fun segway tour!!!Ok - I'm 55 and I have been crossing off items from my bucket list. Riding on a segway was one of the items on my bucket list. My husband and I did the "Uluru Sunrise & Segway" tour with Uluru Segway Tours, and it was awesome. We booked directly with them on their website which was super easy. I had a couple of questions for them before my tour and they were quick to respond. We were picked up at 5:20 am from our hotel - Sails in the Desert. Nick was an awesome guide ... drove us to the viewing area and setup our breakfast while we all watched the amazing sunrise and enjoyed the beautiful landscape of Uluru. There were lots of goodies for breakfast - croissants, muffins, cereal, jam, juice, coffee and tea; there's plenty of food ... no one goes hungry :) After breakfast, we drove to a washroom stop before heading to the segways. We got our safety equipment and a quick training session on our segways. Nick made super sure that everyone was comfortable before heading out on the trails. It was my first time on a segway and I couldn't believe how easy and fun it was. It was pouring rain so Nick provided us with ponchos and covers which worked out very well. We did an entire loops around the base of Uluru with a number of stops where Nick explained the history and culture of the people in the area. It was a very informative tour. After riding the segway, we got a walking tour to the Muṯitjulu Waterhole which was amazing with the rain. All in all, it was an awesome experience.Written 3 February 2025
- LDizzle110 contributionsUnique way to see UluruWe had the best time getting around Uluru on the segways. Our guide Nick did a great job sharing creation stories, and always made sure we were safe. The segways were such a fun way to get around and I could not imagine a more fun way to get around the base of Uluru. Would highly recommend!Written 3 February 2025
- Donna W0 contributionsGreat instructions for the newbies to segueThe crew were friendly and informed and worked together well. As new learners we were totally impressed by the encouragement and support in learning how to ride. A little light on for local information and stops to take pics but in 43 degree heat the quicker and easier means (compared to our planned walk!) was well worth the financial investment.Written 27 January 2025
- RayA10610 contributionsSo much More than just a Segway tourGreat way to see the rock, we were only expecting a Segway tour but also had a really informative tour of the rock by our guide Nick. This was so much more than just a Segway tour! Once again thanks to Nick for the lesson in operating a Segway safely and being really informed in aboriginal creation stories and the geology of Uluru. Told us stories about the first peoples of Australia. In particular about the local stories regarding the area. - Seeing_the_World_110 contributionsPerfect way to see the main sites at Ayers RockSince I was visiting in one of the hottest months, I decided to do the Segway tour instead of hiking around Ayers Rock. This proved to be a good decision as it was almost 100 degrees by 10am in January. As a first time Segway user, the guides provided excellent training and time to practice on the Segway before the tour began. During the tour, the guide explained about the geology, history, culture, flora and fauna around Ayers Rock.Written 10 January 2025

Two of us on this fabulous tour - one 68 and the other 61 years old. Just mention that to say how easy it was for even near pensioners to master the Segways and enjoy this rolling trip!
Praise and compliments to Natalie, Dan and Brendan for looking after us so well. The Segway setup is just so cool and clever: practise area, truck transport for the segways, safety gear, and even a toilet and small office space driven out each morning so no permanent structures damage the rock base.
After a scrummy breakfast and sunrise view of the rock, we received our patient and considered Segway orientation. The whole group is divided into roughly half so a big crowd of Segways do not snake around the rock interrupting others on bikes and on foot. After a short walk and tour to what was the main waterhole (now sadly polluted by those who left their detritus on top of the rock before its closure in 2019) we were off.
Dan stopped at several places explaining interesting detail, making sure we didn't take photos of sacred areas and constantly checking we were all OK. Even an unsuspected shower didn't stop us or slow us down as we enjoyed our 90+ minute tour right around the 'bloody big rusty rock' (as one participant described it).
Truly, a Segway is the best way to feel you are doing something and exercising when you aren't. Track is wide enough to accommodate everyone out there and the ride is just soooo much fun! Couldn't recommend this more highly for folk of all ages.

Hi,
Wow, what a wonderful review! It is so great that you felt so looked after by so many members of our team. We are really lucky to pride ourselves on having exceptional guides who are passionate about the region and show casing it to visitors.
Thank you for noticing our set up and how it is low impact to the national park and area. Also it is wonderful to hear you enjoyed your sunrise picnic breakfast and found Segway riding easy enough to pick up and learn.
Hope the rest of your holiday was just as great.
Cheers,
From all of us at Uluru Segway Tours.

Firstly we had a great time on the tour and shout out to Hayley who guided us with a smile all the way and a friendly and informative tour. It’s an early start and a bit chilly in July but we really enjoyed it. Segway’s were good fun and surprisingly easy to control and get the hang of. The rock delivered and it was great to see it again with kids in tow this time.
However, our experience didn’t start well, and could have been very different. We were greeted by Sam at 6.30am in an unnecessarily rude and surly way for being about 90 seconds late for the bus. Zero smiles, no good morning, hardly any eye contact, this is how he treated everybody as they got on the bus, I watched carefully. What is this guy doing in the tourism industry? - he should be a prison guard or debt collector, much better fit. We prayed we didn’t have Sam for the whole tour and thankfully were on Hayley’s list. If we had have been in Sam’s group I think I would have had to ask to return to the hotel.
Sam - try and remember we’re all on vacation, have travelled long distances to be here, and these are valuable hours/days out of busy working lives. If you can’t smile, be polite to paying customers and try and make the experience as fun and welcoming as possible I suggest you find something else to do for a living, if you worked for me you would have been out of a job by about 6.35am this morning.

This was perfect for our last morning at Uluru before catching a plane back to NSW, especially since I'd sprained my ankle and it would have been difficult to circumnavigate the rock on foot, which I'd so wanted to do. We were collected with our luggage from the resort at 5.25am and headed out to Uluru (they very kindly dropped us at the airport after the tour).
First up a light breakfast was provided by way of coffee tea muffins, croissants and cereal, after which we walked to the Mutitjulu Waterhole. We were then fitted with helmets, knee and ankle pads and learned how to use the segways. I was a little nervous as a friend had fallen off one years ago (somewhere else) but as long as you have a sense of balance, follow instructions and are aware of your surroundings so you don't clip your wheels it's absolutely fantastic fun. It was a wonderful way to experience the magic of an Uluru sunrise, plus we had a small group of seven gorgeous people to share it with. Thanks to Nicholas our guide for the yarns and information, you are obviously passionate about the wildlife and flora of our 'red centre'. Fantastic experience! Ali & John

Hi Ali & John
Thanks for the incredible review. It is wonderful to hear that you had such a great time on your Segway tour with Nick! He is a great guide with so much knowledge of the Red Centre to share! It's also great to hear that we could help you explore all of Uluru despite having hurt your ankle earlier in the week.
Thanks for sharing your last morning at Uluru with us, we are really glad we could help you see the full base of Uluru before you had to fly back to Sydney.
We hope the rest of your time in the Red Centre was just as great.

We did the sunrise tour with the lite breakfast. Early morning (5:45) pickup from the resort was easy, just need to make sure everyone has a park past. At the viewing point we had a good selection of food and drinks for the lite breakfast. It was an awesome day the sunrise was perfect. Off to the base of Uluru for the training and guided walk to the watering hole. Training was well ran and even the newbies picked it up easily. We were lucky that the trail around the rock was open, as it had rained a couple of days earlier and parts had been closed. The 2hr ride was great and Nick our guide was very informative and helpful, with good stops along the way for photos. Back to the resort about 11am.

Gliding around is better than a climb any day. This activity is endorsed by the Anagnu custodians. A complete circumference of Uluru is provided within a small group, and they feed you prior to set off. The guides are certified, professional and warm. A cohesive and comprehensive understanding of this special place is provided, + they put on a fine breakfast spread, and a decent coffee. Our groups guides were Natalie and Brie. The segway around was cool, but our guides were what made it for me. Thanks Nat and Brie. I was also lucky to have had another Segway tour led by the elusive Darell in early December - but I suspect he’s been banished again.

Hi,
Thanks for the wonderful review it's great to hear that you had such a great time on your Segway tour. It sounds like you joined us for the sunrise tour, that's my favourite as well. I love having a picnic breakfast at the foot of Uluru whilst watching the sun slowly begin to rise. I'll be sure to pass your great feedback on to Nat, Bree and Darryl, they are all really great guides with so much enthusiasm and passion.
Thanks again for the great review.

Fabulous Experience! Only way to see the complete base of Uluru. We were picked up from our hotel by our guide Dan and taken to Uluru for a yummy sunset breakfast consisting of croissants, muffins, muesli, coffee, tea, hot chocolate and juice. We then headed up to the lookout to watch the sunrise against Uluru.
Before our Segway ride Dan took us on a short walk to a watering hole and cave with Aboriginal paintings and shared some local knowledge and stories. We then headed back for a safety briefing and short test ride on the Segways.
The trip around the base was easy and great fun. Dan made regular stops, took photos for us and continued to share the local stories and history. He was definitely the perfect host!

So much fun. The tour was well organised, the breakfast unexpected and pleasant and the segways surprisingly easy to ride. Chrissy, our tour guide, was a blast - one of the most fun tour guides I have ever had. She was very knowledgeable about the local creation stories as well as local flora, bush tucker and bush medicine. Her 'dad' jokes added to the fun of the morning. I would definitely recommend this as a good way to see Uluru, hear about the indigenous culture and have fun. Thanks Chrissy. PS. the pink lippy was a nice touch

We saw rainbow early in the morning as it was raining a bit. Very nice sunrise view. The guide was kind to provide some of us jacket (which we were not prepared for the chill and rain weather in mid Apr). Trip included light breakfast, Mala walk + Mutitjulu Waterhole. Good scenery, nice ride. Some of the people who join the trip are over 50 and 60 and it was not a problem to ride a segway.

Hi Kezial,
Thanks for the great review, how lucky are you getting to see a rainbow and a nice sunrise! That has to be the best weather possible. It sounds as if you might have done our wet weather track due to the rain, I hope you were able to see some waterfalls too!
Our wet weather track can be a lot of fun as it means you can get up close to the rock and see waterholes filling up and explore the caves on the Mala walk. It is wonderful to hear that the whole group was able to ride a Segway with ease too.
We hope the rest of your time in Central Australia was just as great.

Hi, We're a family of 2 adults, a 13y and 15y old with 1 overnight stay in Ayers Rock: flight arrives 1:40pm then departs 3:25pm next day in July. It's proving tricky to fit in trips so we're left with a choice between a stand alone sunset with AATKings or Sunrise trips which are: a Sunrise Camel ride or a Sunrise Segways with full base tour or an AAT Kings Sunrise with base tour. We want to make the most of feeling Uluru in this short time with our teenagers. Which would you advise would be best please? Thanks

I should also have said that the flynets were an absolute necessity in January, I don't know what it will be like in July.
We also did the Kata Tjuta Tour. This was very nice and we had a picnic also. Might be an option for you

Same answer as bhmacs, facilities are at the start in a portable bathroom facility and the segway tour is approx. two to two half hours. I am very conscious of bathroom requirements and if need be, duck behind a rock. The tour guide is very helpful.

The tour goes for about 2 hours from memory. Yes there is a weight and fitness restriction. I am 107 and pretty fit and was perfectly fine. The guide stops every mow and then foe you to get your feet back. They get a bit numb.
