About the operator
- PetterM7900A quick and worthwhile tour in SydneyDave delivers once more! A nice mini excursion north of Sydney. Two hour trip, starting in Circular Quay and then a short ride across Harbour Bridge to the bat site. So many bats, I got to borrow Daves camera to take pictures which I then got transferred to my phone. All finished with a beer and nice chats. Definitely worth your time!
- Patricia G00Kangaroos and wombats galore!Dave is a great guide. We stopped at several scenic spots before our kangaroo and wombat encounters. Dozens of kangaroos and several wombats appeared at dusk. The barbecue dinner was excellent. Be aware that black flies are horrible as dusk approaches and swarm around food. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!
- pearx400Great tour by an outstanding guide!I never thought I'd see a flying fox, much less a bunch of them and so close. Dave's tour is absolutely fantastic; he took us to the best vantage points to view the flying foxes and also provided the option to use an excellent digital camera to enhance the experience. The digital camera transfers the pics directly to your phone via blue tooth. You get close enough to get great pics while remaining at a very safe distance. Dave not only knew the best spots to view the bats, but he was also very knowledgeable about them. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it. Last, Dave was gracious enough to drop my sunglasses by my hotel after leaving them in his van (thanks again, Dave!). Top notch service by a first-class guide!
- brendawF1730SM00Flying Fox Tour! You need to go!We had so much fun! Tons of bats and little pups so very cute. Dave was an amazing tour guide. Plenty of laughs and treat along the way. Highly recommended!
- GrumpyandtheOldLady00Another winning tour from Dave and Perfect Day Sydney! We did the Wild Bat Photo Experience/Flying Fox Tour (as well as a Wombat Tour (see separate review)) with Dave from Perfect Day Sydney. The morning was cold and drizzly and Dave picked us up. He took us to the bat colony in Sydney, which is located next to a residential area. We could not believe how noisy they were. He took us to prime spots for photographing the Flying Fox (Fruit Bats) and had so, so many subjects to choose from. What was unbelievable to us was that the gross majority of the bats had babies on them. We have so many photos of bats with babies clutching onto their mothers. This was so unexpected and so incredible we were just overwhelmed. Dave is a wealth of information on many kinds of native (and non-native) flora and fauna. He is a fantastic guide. You really need to book this tour. Oh, and watch for several wild cockatoos on the lawns of the railway station. We couldn't believe they're just sitting there grazing, fighting, and mouthing off. Pretty cool.
- jresum00Review of perfect dayDave was very friendly and an excellent tour guide. He was very gracious and a great chef! I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see native Australian wildlife!
- 552MarkR55200Met the batman of my dreams on this tourGreat easy day trip to see some special wildlife with a chilled and knowledgeable guide. Great photos
- GladdysL300Perfecting my holiday with Perfect Day SydneyWent on both the bats and wombat tours with Dave. Dave is a humorous and friendly guide who goes above and beyond to ensure his guests are well taken care of. He shared great insights on the wildlife and the places we passed by. We had a fantastic time on both trips and were able to capture tons of memorable photos. Highly recommend these tours; the experiences were truly unforgettable!
- 174jeann00So Many Bats!We saw literally hundreds of flying fox, and even though it was daylight they were active. It was absolutely amazing to see them spread their wings and fly. It was a short tour, not far from Sydney, and I chose to get off in Manly so I could do some hiking.
- skeckersley00A "Pinch Yourself" experienceThis is a short visit to see a Flying Fox colony in the suburbs of Sydney. Once again, our guide Dave makes it special with his knowledge, humour and ability to make his guests feel like friends. The colony is huge and the photos spectacular. This is another of those "pinch yourself" experiences where you are experiencing what you have likely only ever seen in documentaries.
- ChristopherD7300Awesome, best day in Sydney bar none. Thanks Dave for a cracking day out, we loved hanging with you. We had the best day out. We will be back! Cheers
- N2693QQtinal00Very worth itThis was our second tour with Dave. He is very informative and really nice. The camera he provided was amazing. I am not used to taking photos with the actual camera because normally I just use my phone, but the shots that I took with Dave's camera were awesome. So I highly recommend this tour to anyone. Does not matter if you just want to see the bats, you are a professional photographer or this is your first time using a proper camera. Also, there were way more bats than I expected.
- N641AVjenniferb00LOVED it!!!This was by far the highlight of my trip to Sydney! A truly fascinating experience seeing so many beautiful bats in one place! And Dave was an incredible tour guide. He is extremely knowledgeable and clearly has a passion for animals and sharing the beauty of this country with others. He was full of valuable information about bats and fun to be around as well! Thanks Dave!
- 731rdpw00Calling All Bat Lovers!Calling all bat enthusiasts!!! This is the tour for you. If you love bats then this tour cannot be missed. You will be up close to thousands of grey headed flying foxes which can only be seen in Australia. Dave, your tour guide, has digital cameras which will enable you to see and capture every nuance of these magnificent creatures. We watched them interact with each other and learned about the hierarchy of their places in the trees. We even saw one climb up the trunk of the tree with his hands until he found a spot where he was accepted by those around him. This is not a tour where you just see sleeping bats hanging from trees. These bats watched our every movement, interacted with each other and even took flight to move to other trees. And no worries if you don’t know much about bats because Dave is a wealth of information about these flying foxes and you will come away from this experience with a greater knowledge and appreciation for them. I wish I could give this tour more than 5 stars!!!
- briguy7300An Amazing Encounter with Thousands of Bats in SydneyWe had the absolute pleasure of taking a bat tour with Dave, who is one of the most knowledgeable and informative tour guides we have ever met. We had previously taken his kangaroo and wombat tour, and we were so impressed with his knowledge and passion for wildlife that we knew we had to book his bat tour as well. We were not disappointed! When we arrived at the bat colony, we were expecting to see a few sleeping bats in the trees. However, what we saw was nothing short of amazing. There were thousands of grey-headed flying-foxes hanging from the trees, crawling up branches, and flying around! What an amazing sight! We learned so much about bats on this tour, and we had an amazing time. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in learning more about bats or who simply wants to experience something truly unique. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in learning more about bats. It was a truly unforgettable experience. Pros: The opportunity to see thousands of grey-headed flying-foxes in one place The informative tour guide The unique soundscape of the bats The chance to get up close to the bats Cons: The bats can be a bit noisy Some people may be hesitant to get this close to bats Additional Thoughts: Dave was an excellent tour guide. He was knowledgeable, informative, and engaging. He made the tour very enjoyable. The bats were amazing to see. It was incredible to watch them fly and interact with each other. We learned a lot about bats on this tour. We learned about their diet, their importance to the ecosystem, and even some fun facts about them.

After a few weeks in Sydney, I was keen to see more of the national parks and wildlife outside the city, and I really wanted to see kangaroos in the wild. Not only did this tour deliver kangaroos, but also some cute wombats and breathtaking scenery!
Leaving from Sydney Central station was perfect for travellers without a car, and a great opportunity to see places that we wouldn't otherwise be able to reach. The tour started with some amazing scenery in the Southern Highlands - the well-named Sublime Point overlooking Wollongong, then two different national parks with waterfalls and a view that just about took my breath away! I thought the wildlife would be the highlight, but I have to say I was equally stunned by the landscapes on this tour.
We went to see the kangaroos and wombats at dusk when they come out, and everyone was delighted to see them! We even managed to get quite close to a big kangaroo male, and it was lovely to see the kangaroos hopping away into the bush.
This tour delivered everything I was hoping for and more - it's been the highlight of my time in Sydney, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in the outstanding wildlife and nature that Australia has to offer.

Dave was great- very friendly and communicated with frequent updates in the days leading up to the tour. The itinerary needed to be changed as the National Parks were closed, but we still saw lots of beautiful scenery and wildlife. We stopped along the coast, to see pelicans and a manta rag, a blowhole, walked around the rainforest, had a delicious bbq dinner, and then onto Kangaroo Valley. There we saw lots of kangaroos, wombats, a wallaby, echidna, and a lyre bird. We napped in the van on the way home and he dropped us right off at our hotel. A terrific day! I would highly recommend Dave and Perfect Sydney tours!

Don't miss this amazing tour. The host Dave was not only knowledgable but took the time to make everyone feel welcome. A range of activities, lunch on the beach, rain forest walks, majestic falls, amazing blow hole, and my highlight the wildlife. Saw about a dozen wombats, hundred kangaroos, 2 enchideas, spelling?, along with a male and female lyre bird. Thanks Dave for a fabulous tour, will take home precious memories.

What an amazing day!! We started off with a pickup from Dave in a comfortable van. Dave had available lots of amenities, such as snacks and drinks, phone chargers and Wi-Fi. We set off and drove to Sublime Point, a stunning lookout over the gorgeous Australian coastline. We then drove about an hour through pretty rainforest to get to the world famous pie shop, where each guest got to order a pie of their choosing! Next, we stopped at two breathtaking waterfalls. Each was accompanied by a short, easy bush walk, and Dave stopped along the way to let us take on the sites and share his knowledge about the sights we were seeing. He was also very kind and offered to take pictures of each of us at every stop. After the second waterfall, it was a short drive to the campsite, where Dave cooked a delicious barbecue, along with toppings, sides, snacks and drinks. As we finished eating, the kangaroos and wombats started to come out for the night. It was amazing to be able to interact with these animals up close - a thousand times better than seeing them at the zoo. We were able to get pretty close to the kangaroos and even closer to the wombats. Dave was helpful in spotting wildlife where the rest of us wouldn’t have noticed it - he pointed out a kookaburra and even spotted an echidna on the side of the road and let us get out and have a look! This is the only tour of its kind near Sydney that is in this price range, and I am so happy I did it. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves wildlife and natural beauty!

Dave was an excellent tour guide. This was our favorite day of our whole trip. We visited beautiful waterfalls and overlook points to start the day. Lunch was at a delicious Aussie meat pie shop which we enjoyed. Dave worked extra hard to find us Wombats and Kangaroos- even after dark. We were taken to a beautiful campground and Dave grilled us delicious burgers for dinner- he also had wine/ beer/ snacks and even Tim Tam cookies and other desserts. Nice touch. We saw Kangaroos as soon as we arrived. Chairs were set up for us and it was a relaxing evening as dusk fell and we waited for the Wombats to come out. It was amazing to be so close these animals in the wild without dealing with the crowds and constraints at a zoo. Highly recommend this tour if you like nature and want to see the animals in their natural habitat. Thanks Dave for a wonderful day. Mark and Gina Smith

We had an awesome day with Dave on our Walking with Wombats tour! Dave is truly a nice guy and had all bases covered for this tour. When it rained he was there with umbrellas, when we needed someone to take our picture at one of the locations he was more than willing to help out. He was knowledgeable about all of the places we visited and the wildlife we saw. We were treated to lunch at a pie place in Kiama (apparently kind of a traditional Australian quick meal), which was delicious. Dave also grilled out burgers (and some kangaroo meat) at our final stop, where we got to walk among the wombats and kangaroos. Of course that was the highlight of the tour -- the opportunity to see wombats and kangaroos up close. We saw many of both, and even got to see kangaroos "boxing", which was a sight to see. I would highly recommend this tour if you are looking for a great day of some uniquely Australian sight seeing!

My wife and I booked this while visiting Sydney, and the tour far exceeded our expectations. We were amazed by how many wombats there were and pleasantly surprised to encounter several groups of kangaroos during the barbeque. Dave was a friendly guide with great taste in music. We covered a lot of ground in one day, from blowholes, to beaches, overlooks, waterfalls, and of course the wildlife. The tour was a good mix of walking and hiking portions to break up the ride in the van. Highly recommend for someone visiting Sydney, or just looking to hang with some animals and see the countryside.
I recommend double checking the location before the day of your tour. The station where the van picks up is quite large and we initially were on the opposite side. Luckily Dave gave us a call and directed us the right way. Thank you!

Dear All
My daughter and I would like to thank Dave our guide for being such a thoughtful guide.
Despite of the daily grind of his work he was genuinely interested in getting to know all of us and brought out the enthusiasm towards the natural environment in us by sharing with us his knowledge and experiences with us.
My daughter experienced for the first time of being close up to the Kangaroos and Wombats and did so with the hills rolling into the sunset. Such an experience is priceless and it is one of the reasons why I brought her to this grand country.
So many thanks! Hope all of you will hang in there and come back even stronger after the coronavirus crisis!
Best Wishes

I highly recommend this tour for a day out of Sydney to see what NSW, Australia is all about! Dave took us to beaches and bluffs, the rainforest (where we stumbled upon a swamp wallaby, monitor lizards, and lyre birds!) He grilled up a proper Aussie cookout and we spend the evening on a wildlife excursion. We saw multiple echidnas, wallabies, kangaroos, and wombats!! Dave made us all feel like family right away and is very knowledgeable and friendly. He made sure that we were enjoying the tour always! Because of the fires, we couldn’t make it to all of the stops but he made it up to us with more adventures! This company definitely cares about their guests and making a memorable experience.

This tour was a great experience! Dave pre-confirmed a few days in advance via Whats App so I knew my reservation had been relayed and what number to reach Dave at if needed. Ends up the clutch on his normal van went out the morning of our tour. Impressively, Dave was able to contact all of us to say he would be a wee bit tardy... rent a van, re-hook up his BBQ trailer, and off we went in a rental vehicle only slightly delayed. I am so grateful he did not cancel as the day was fabulous... we did see wild wombats & kangaroos, and several scenic outlooks, a pie shoppe, and a lovely BBQ. We were dropped off at the end at our individual hotels. Thanks, Dave, for a memorable and fabulous day!

Hi Dave,
My family of 4 is booked for your tour later in Nov. and we're so excited! Awesome reviews from others... QQ: we will be in Sydney for roughly 5 days. We are also considering a day trip to the Blue Mountains but I know that's also a full day tour and I believe it includes visits to waterfalls/rain forest too. We have 2 kids and I don't want to burn them out with too much van travel... In your opinion, are sights on a Blue Mountain tour somewhat redundant to what we'll experience with you - or would you encourage us to do both tours?
Thanks in advance for any insight!

Both are big days as the location are a long way from central Sydney. A lot of my guest do both tours. You would need a lay day in between for sure. If you do a tour to blue Mountains with Featherdale zoo you can feed kangaroos and get your photos with a koala (none left in the wild in Sydney). Scenic world is great also.
The rock formations will be almost the same blue Mountains has bigger views. Waterfalls are better in the southern highlands. Rainforest will be the same. If your’ve got spare money I’d do both if you’re stretching it just do Walking with Wombats. If you’re in town on a Sunday you can take the train for $2.80 to the blue Mountains return. Any other day it’s $13 return.

February is the warmest month and usually the most stable but you will still need a rain jacket and one set of long pants and a warm jumper. NZ weather can change a lot in one day.
