- sofilidgren0 contributionsa great placeI just love it and will go again. the tasting combined with the food they offered was done with professionalism. It also had a very personal touch from the owner, which made the visit specialWritten 6 November 2019
- Happiness2731000 contributionsA really enjoyable experienceMy son and I recently did the red wine blending experience and must say we had a great time. It was all about the structure of different wine varieties which we had never really thought about before. But each wine was explained and more importantly tasted and then we got to do our own blends and then blind taste each others. Unfortunately his blend came out the winner. We really learnt a lot about wine structure while having an absolute ball. Alex was fantastic and we would recommend this experience to anyone who likes red wine.Written 3 September 2019
- Misa H0 contributionsWinery experience in the cityI went to Urban Winery with a group of friends last month. Owner Alex is also the winemaker and is very knowledgeable about wine. I had a glass of buttery chardonnay and peppery shiraz and I enjoyed both (I'm not usually a chardonnay drinker). Definitely recommend the salami and sheep's cheese. It would be a good place to go with a group of friends who love vino.Written 5 July 2017
- amytheblue0 contributionsBest winery in Sydney!!We went to visit the Urban Winery as a group of work colleagues on a Wednesday night! We loved it! The wine was amazing. Alex was super lovely and explained the entire process to everyone. The food was also divine with delicious (local) cheeses and cured meats! Definitely recommend!Written 5 July 2017
- Andrew S0 contributionsHigh quality wines in a working winery near Sydney CBDI recently attended a party at this venue minutes from the Sydney CBD. The quality of the wines was very high, the setting in a working winery superb, and the food and service first class. Great to support this relaxed, creative and innovative space, and enjoy a glass of beautiful wine - from both regular grapes and also some creative and different blends. Nice to hear first hand detail from the winemakers.Written 3 July 2017
- thelittlelady0 contributionsSunday Harvest LunchWent to the 3 hour Sunday Harvest lunch with my daughter as a birthday treat. We were served a glass of rose on arrival while waiting for the rest of the group to arrive. The winemaker gave us a quick talk of his background then we were invited to stomp some grapes. You quickly immerse your feet into a tub of soapy water then the winemaker rinses your feet off with a hose, before stomping.Make sure you wear something that you can hitch up high as you need to climb over into the square vats that are approximately 80cms ? high. The grapes come up to about knee height. It's quite satisfying and fun. Then it's time to rinse off your legs and sit down to a lunch of shared loaves of bread, cured meats, pate, olives and cheeses. All were delicious. We were treated to a taste of a chardonnay that was in the middle of it's journey and it was still cloudy and quite sweet. You are then served another glass of wine, either white or red. I chose the white which was a sav blanc which was very good. Later they come around to either refill your glass or, in my case, I chose a glass of the red, equally tasty. I think you may be limited to 2 glasses at the sit down lunch as they didn't come around for a further top up. It was a great way to spend 3 hours leisurely eating, drinking, talking with the experience of being in a working winery.Written 19 March 2017
- NatBan700 contributionsFantastic venue - shame about the food and serviceI recently visited the Urban Winery to attend one of their Long Lunch events - having heard such rave reviews from other friends who had been to one of these events - I had very high hopes. Unfortunately the reality was significantly different, the service was terrible and the food quality very average. Other people had finished their meals before ours had arrived - the wine was also very slow we had to ask for refills - not what you expect when paying $110.00 per head. I think they might be better going back to just having one table for these events and providing a better level of service. Sorry Urban Winery - I won't be back.Written 1 March 2017
- arabellarayner0 contributionsGreat new wine barWe visited the Urban Winery a couple of weeks ago for a drink. It's a newly opened bar set amongst a fully working winery and was v cool & authentic with delicious wines & cured meats. I can't wait to come back for the blend your own wine experience - think it would be such a cool idea for Christmas!Written 30 November 2016
- Tom R0 contributionsGreat Inner City ExperienceI went to the Urban Winery for lunch several weeks away and I was impressed by both the venue and the wines. There is a great little bar and a long dining table amongst the barrels. All of the other wine-making equipment is there and Alex (Winemaker) took time to explain what everything did and the process of making wine. I have spent a bit of time in cellar doors and I was really surprised that the same feel could be achieved in Sydney. Definitely recommend going for a dinner or lunch. But also, the wine bar is great on its own and I will be back on a Saturday afternoon. The wines are great and there is plenty else going on in the complex to see while you're there.Written 14 November 2016

Alex the winemaker proudly demonstrated the characteristics of 6 of his own wines.
Brilliant for the amateur expert or beginner, arming one with the means to appreciate some of the subtler features of these European style whites, rose and reds. Accompanied by a delightful charcuterie plate, this is a novel way to have a late lunch.
