- Zane H0 contributionsFun wine tour with a great guideMy wife and I took the wine, wildlife, chocolate and cheese tour in February and had a great time. Sam was a terrific guide and we also had a wonderful mix of people from all over the world on our particular tour. The stop at the wildlife park was plenty of time to see a good amount of the animals without feeling rushed. On the way to the Hunter Valley, Sam asked the group if anyone had any preferences as to types of wines, as the stops were not set in stone and we certainly appreciated that he made that accommodation. The cheese and chocolate tastings were enjoyable and lunch was excellent. We really enjoyed the small group size and being able to meet some fellow travelers in a such a great place. Highly recommended!Written 14 March 2023

- lucasashby0 contributionsGreat tourWe had a great time. Sadly, the bush fires have been occurring, so the sanctuary had to be evacuated. Thankfully, the animals are safe. Our tour guide, Sam, was incredibly courteous and informative for us. We had a great time getting to tour the vineyards and learn about the industry in the area.Written 30 November 2019
- Jess U0 contributionsAmazing personalized wine tour!Took this tour to the Hunter Valley with Sam on my honeymoon. We had the BEST time! Ive been on quite a few wine tours all over the world but never have I had the tour leader ask what kind of wines the guests like and decide what wineries to take us to depending on what we choose! The wineries were small and family owned which I loved. My husband is more of a beer guy so the stop at the brewery was perfect. The lunch time stop was great with a delicious cheese tasting and a few delicious and affordable options for lunch. Not to mention starting the tour out with a stop to play with kangaroos and koalas was just the icing on the cake! Its a long day since the hunter valley is two hours away but its definitely worth it!Written 18 November 2019

Sam was an amazing tour guide. Great day trip to a great wine region that knows how to produce wines in some tough conditions. Kudos to Sam for picking some great wineries to visit. Also, an awesome stop at the wildlife sanctuary to see free roaming kangaroos, wallaby’s and koalas. Better than any zoo.

This tour was absolutely worth every penny. The guide was wonderful and we enjoyed the sites.
Our group visited a zoo and fed Kangaroos, took a picture with a Koala & a Dingo, saw sleeping Tasmanian Devils and cuddled with a baby Wombat.
We also visited two winery and a brewery that had some of the most delicious drinks and were able to take a bottle of wine to our lunch location up in the hills where we tasted some delectable cheeses. To top it off, we even tasted some great chocolates made a the family factory.
I recommend this tour for anyone. It was truly a relaxing time in the country outside of Sydney.

My mom and I had a memorable trip with Sam as our guide ! First of all, the van was spacious, comfortable and even had Wifi on board ! We got to see up close kangaroos, koala, and emus so it made a huge difference as compared to going to the zoo. Sam asked us for our wine preferences and took us to the ones that would fit our tastes. Oh and don't get me started on the cheese tasting experience ! In the end, Sam dropped us off to as close to our place as possible. I rarely ever see any guide that does that in my traveling experience. Seriously, you have to do this trip, even if you are from Sydney.

Our guide and driver for the day Sam was terrific but this whole tour was very poor value for money and should be avoided. The first stop was an excellent wildlife park where we could have stayed a bit longer to see all the animals. We then went to shop that sold olive oil and chocolate where we tasted some of the produce we were obviously being lined up to buy. Then another hours drive and onto a nice golf club for lunch and drinks which should have been included in the original deposit but we had to pay for. Then to two wine tastings at two mediocre Hunter Valley vineyards where we learnt nothing about the vineyards. Just another shopping trip. After the second stop we had a two and half hour trip back to the City so in total we spent nearly five hours in the very cramped mini van. Total cost was $ 470 for two of us which was a rip off.

Ouch! This was tough to read, especially because Hugh was great and I really enjoyed his company. I genuinely got the impression he and his wife had a lovely time as they told me so at the end of the day.
I have since reached out to another guest on Hughs same tour referencing his review to check if they had a similar experience. This was their reply:
“Wow!! That totally shocks me. I thought we all had a great time. I’m so sorry to hear he was unhappy.Â
The only thing I can remember the couple being less than happy with, was the last stop taking too long. But, it seemed everyone was having a good time.Â
We enjoyed our time on the tour. Thank you."
I won’t break down and respond to each of Hugh’s points. As difficult as it is to read such a perspective I guess we need to remind ourselves you can’t please everyone, but we will try to!
I’m happy he thought I was terrific and he loved the wildlife park. One of the vineyards we went to was Audrey Wilkinson, one of the highest rated vineyards for quality in the Hunter Valley and Australia. Their wines are by no means mediocre although obviously weren’t to Hugh’s taste which is fine. It’s all very subjective at the end of the day. We hope your experience will be quite different to Hughs!

We had a fantastic day with Sam! He took us to two terrific wineries, chocolate factory, a cheese factory, and an amazing Australian zoo that had Australian reptiles, koalas, kangaroos etc. Every stop was memorable, but getting up close and personal with the koalas was a highlight! Our guide Sam made the day go smoothly with his knowledge, ability to keep our group on time, and his selection of wineries he knew we would love. Such an amazing day and memory. Thank you Sam and Kangarrific tours!

We were picked up near our hotel by Sam and swept away for a day of wildlife and wine tasting. We began with an hour drive to the Reptile Wildlife Park, where we got to feed some kangaroos, see koalas, and a whole bunch of other animals up close. Very interesting.
From there, we were transported off to taste some chocolates and olive oils before heading to a lovely wine tasting, followed by lunch, and then another tasting before returning to the city. Our group was very friendly and we enjoyed most all of the wines. The tour was a great way to experience some of what the Hunter Valley has to offer.

This trip was excellent from start to finish! My auntie came over from the UK and I really wanted to fit in a day tour with as much as possible and this tour was certainly that! We were picked up by our friendly tour guide Sam and headed to the reptile park and met some koalas! Then we had some cheese and chocolate tasting then a winery before heading for lunch. The two wineries were lovely, the second one was probably a personal favourite! It’s a small enough group to get to know others that you are with, we met some lovely people! Sam was knowledgable, friendly and couldn’t be more willing to make the whole experience both personal and smooth by asking us which wines we preferred etc etc. He even went out of his way to make sure we spotted some kangaroos! I cannot recommend this tour enough and will be doing it again when my parents come over from the UK in November!

Sam did an amazing job driving and guiding us throughout the day. The wildlife zoo we visited was the best I have ever been to for Australian animals, reptiles and one on one encounters with koala’s! The Wineries were custom picked for our small group’s interests as well as the lunch was delicious. Highly believe this is one of the best hunter valley tours I have been on. Will definitely return!

This was a very happy experience for us. The Reptile Park of Australia was outstanding. The park, which was our first stop, is in a beautiful location, and had much more than just reptiles. We interacted with koalas, where (with supervision by one of the park's animal experts) we could scratch them and take pictures while doing so. The park had kangaroos that we hand fed and stroked. The kangaroos were very gentle and calm. Other animals there included Kamodo lizards (no touching them!), crocodiles, aligators, dingos, wallabies, Tasmanian Devils, and many more. All the employees were friendly and helpful. This park is commited to the proper treatment of all their animals, and does a lot for enhancing the natural environment around Australia. Our other stops included wine tasting at boutique wineries, where we sampled various wines with no pressure to buy anything. We had a tasting at a cheese shop where a variety of cheeses are locally made. We had an excellent lunch. Throughout our day, our personable guide, Sam, was very solicitous and knowledgable. The van was comfortable. The other guests, 8 other people, mentioned that this tour exceeded their expectations. The front office was very responsive and understanding (a shout out to Ruth). This was an all day tour and we highly recommend it.

What a great introduction to Australia and its wines! Sam was the best tour guide and willing to answer all questions. The animal part of the tour was also an experience we'll never forget. Pick up instructions were very clear even with our unfamiliarity with the city. It was a great tour for our first time to Sydney!

I have a phobia of snakes. When we visit the kangaroos and koalas is the snake petting far away so that I won’t see them?
Written 12 November 2019
There was only one brief visit with a snake held by the keeper, otherwise none to be seen. I barely knew it was happening so you do not need to participate. Also, it was the only snake I saw on my entire trip :), none anywhere around the city or vineyards.
