Excellent Hunter Valley wine and food tour
We enjoyed an excellent Hunter Valley wine and food tour with Jimmy, our tour guide, driver and very accomplished chef. It started with an 0630 pick up from our hotel, followed by others which meant we reached the first stop, Sydney fish market, around 0725. Jimmy explained how it worked and then went off to source some very fresh seafood that we would consume later. Many of us used the opportunity to stock up on some nice coffee as Jimmy’s van doesn’t (yet) have a coffee as part of his innovative cooking set up. 50 minutes later it was time for a brief walk around a lake whilst Jimmy cooked breakfast for us before teaching us how to roll sushi, which we would eat later at one of the wineries. It’s then an hour or so to the Hunter Valley where we visited three small boutique wineries, many of which you cannot buy on the High street. Jimmy provides an excellent meal - fresh oyster, asparagus with Parmesan and truffle oil, waygu beef sliders, crème brûlée blowtorched in front of us. Then it’s a two hour drive back to Sydney - a long day but very worth it. Jimmy provides an informative but unintrusive commentary on Sydney, wildlife etc on the way. A very enjoyable day and would recommend it.

Wonderful way to see beyond Sydney in a day
Jimmy did a great job in his 12-seater minibus. The stop for breakfast at Brooklyn was a great was to see some bush and views over Hawkesbury. The 3 wineries chosen for tasting were terrific. Met some lovely people too!

    Delicious Sydney food experience
This was a fantastic tour. The food was excellent, activities interesting, and Jimmy (tour operator) was the so informative and accommodating. Favorite experience was the visit to freshwater surf club where we got see some of the various techniques involved in surf lifesaving over the years. This was followed by an absolutely delicious lunch of Australian cuisine cooked by Jimmy. It was a full day, good money's worth. Would highly recommend for foodies

    Awesome experience
My wife and I had an amazing time visiting several of Sydney's beaches both south and north of the harbor. This is a full day! Jimmy was rather informative about the places that we visited and he provided lovely food. Lunch was specular overlooking the beach at Freshwater Surf Club. I took many photos to record our memorable experience.

A must to do in Sydney for gourmet food and wineries up the Fraser Valley. Small group . A perfect day !
What a perfect day. Oct 16, 2023. Not only is our chef superbe, but such a nice guy too, very devoted to our well-being, very creative with the gourmet food that we savoured all day. Small group of 11 today. Starting with a nice stop to buy a bit of fresh fish at the fish market, great picture opportunity, with great coffee and a nice croissant to go. We stopped in Brooklyn, tiny little village on the river and had a hot breakfast cooked outdoor by our chef. Really good… oh, the banana caramel to go on the hot banana bread, on e of the few wonderful things he had for us. Sushi rolling class too. Good start to say the least! Then, fantastic wine tasting at a family owned estate, then another one for our first lunch… right, and the … another lunch including our one sushi roll earlier prepared at the 3rd winery, all 3 beautiful estates with the charm of smaller producers that really take the time to welcome you. Spectacular food, outdoor cooking, 3 great wineries with friendly owners, passionate winemakers. The minivan is super confortable with a nice ride all the way to Fraser Valley. Our chef is a really good driver too and showed us interesting things along the way. And what can I say, to have wild kangaroos roaming the first wine estate! But seriously, it really was a perfect day that I recommend 1000%!!!!

    The Best Aussie Experience
We only had a few days in Sydney and was so lucky to find this tour. We had the loveliest day with our wonderful guide and chef, Jimmy! We've been to several beaches, each with its own beauty. We've been to places with amazing scenic views. And we got to learn a lot of things about Australia and its culture in a day. The best part - FOOD throughout the day! They were yummy!!! I love the coffee experience and Timtams, the delicious meat pie with avocado, fresh oysters and prawns, lamb skewers and so much more. I never though kangaroo can taste so good. This is THE EXPERIENCE you should go for if you only have a few days in Sydney. It's so worth it!

Best Sydney beaches tour with Chef Jimmy! Highly recommend.
A well spent day in Sydney, visiting some of the best beaches in the world with a world class Chef Jimmy! Started with delicious freshly cooked breakfast by the beach and coffee. Then a quick beach walk from Brontë to Bondi, with some of the most stunning views. Then we headed to northern beach and learnt so much about the surf history at Curl Curl Surf club overlooking the beach. Jimmy cooked the lunch on site and so so delicious. Then we headed to a brewery for beer tasting, followed by visiting north head and OMG the views were just out of this world!! We had scones and tea at North head over looking the amazing view. Then we went to Manly for some beach walk and had the famous Golden gaytime icecream. The day was so well planned and executed with the most delicious food by Chef Jimmy. I would highly recommend this tour for people who want to see the best beaches in Sydney who are time poor.

Most convenient and quickest way to get introduced to Sydney beaches
We had a pleasure of being part of this trip and absolutely loved it. Jimmy is an exceptional host/guide and an even better chef. The trip was meticulously planned covering all the best beaches and lookouts. The food served was amazing. I wonder if anyone else can cover so much in a day with such comfort. Highly recommend doing this trip especially if you want to get the most out of your day in and around Sydney.

A great mix of food, fun and exercise!
Very enjoyable! Also, learned something along the way as well. I went with a couple of friends on Chef Jimmy’s Beaches Tour and had a great day. We had a freshly cooked breakfast and coffee and did some excellent walks along Sydney’s beautiful coastline. We then had an informative visit at the Surf Club (the view over lunch was truly spectacular) and a taste and tour at the local Brewery. Ended the day with probably the best viewpoint in the whole of Sydney!

    Wonderful day out
This was the best day trip we had in our 2 week stay in Australia. Jimmy's attention to detail is very high and he organised a wonderful day out. The food he prepared and served was delicious and complimented the wines very well. The 3 vineyards we went to were all excellent and the wines and information they gave us about them was first class. Thoroughly recommend this trip

    Highly recommended!
We had an unbelievable day - Jimmy really goes over the top in curating an experience that is fun and engaging. We learned so much about the Hunter Valley region, and also really enjoyed the stop at the Sydney Fish Market, where Jimmy talked a lot about the different kinds of food we'd be enjoying (loved learning about how to choose a good mud crab!), as well as the stop along the Hawkesbury River for an amazing breakfast. Jimmy takes care of everything, so all you have to do is enjoy the day! Highly recommended, would absolutely do this again.

Fun day with great food and wine
We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Jimmy on his tour. The fish market visit was fascinating and informative. Jimmy's breakfast was delicious and the sushi rolling was fun. The wines at each of the wineries were wonderful and Jimmy's freshly made food pairings were DELICIOUS!! We had such a great time on this tour - I highly recommend this tour.

Jimmy, our guide and former chef did an outstanding job! Knowledge of food, wine and Sydney was amazing! He was fun, interesting, informative and an excellent cook! He first took us to the Sydney fish market, 3rd largest in the world, that alone was unforgettable, where he picked up his provisions for the day. He cooked breakfast for us in a lovely park overlooking a harbor, the food was truly delicious and plentiful, then he taught us how to make sushi! From there we went to Hunter Valley where we enjoyed the wine tasting, the wineries he chose were beautiful, scenic, tasty and friendly, he then prepared food to match with the wine we tasted. Everything he cooked was delectable and eye appealing as well! It was an amazing and unforgettable experience, worth the money!!! I’d definitely do it again!

We were glad this tour went ahead on Monday mar 16 with the covid virus fears. Jimmy kept everybody well sanitized as there were 15 of us. We had a great mix of Aussies, Americans,Canada & HongKong. Everyone got along and we all had a great time. As advertised, Jimmy cooks amazing meals with food bought from the Sydney Fish Market . At the hawkesbury we even learned how to make and roll our own sushi to eat later in the day. We visited 3 boutique wineries with impressive wines and at the last two wineries we ate as we tasted. The kangaroo sliders were to die for. They were THAT good. I would not hesitate to recommend people to do this tour.

The Hunter Valley Gourmet Food tour was sensational. Jimmy was the perfect host, tour guide and chef extraordinare. Starting off at the Fish Markets, then onto Brooklyn for a perfectly cooked breakfast, sushi making class in a beautiful location. His knowledge of the Hunter was amazing and the wine-paring with the food made it an experience to remember. A terrific day. 100% recommendation. Thanks again Jimmy. Louise and friends.

Do you love delicious food, exceptional wine, and learning more about Australia? If so, this tour will certainly meet, and maybe even exceed, your expectations.

Food tours are one of my favorite ways to get to know a new area, and with only two weeks in Sydney I was eager to see what was available. When I came across this tour and saw mentions of wine, incredible seafood, and lots of great reviews, it was an easy decision for me to reserve the last three seats for myself and two friends on the Saturday we we had available. All I can say is this: I am so lucky to have gotten those seats!

Chef Jimmy is truly the heart of this tour, and there were three things he brought in abundance:

1. The organization: From my pickup hotel at 6:30am until my 5:30pm afternoon drop-off, everything on this tour ran like clockwork. From my experience, this only happens with sufficient experience and preparation. Chef Jimmy had prepared most of the ingredients the day before, with the exception being fresh ingredients he picked up at the Sydney Seafood Market with us in the morning. This allowed Chef Jimmy to have the food quickly cooked and served at all of our stops, which was especially impressive at the wineries which had a number of wine pairings for the dishes. The close monitoring and adherence to the schedule, clear instructions at each stop, and excellent relationships with the winery staff displayed the years of experience Chef Jimmy brings to the table.

2. The knowledge. As someone who loves history I had hoped to learn about the area, and Chef Jimmy was a trove of information. Throughout the day he facts and figures at the ready on topics such as local Sydney history, daily life in Australia, native plants and animals, the Hunter Valley, and of course... the food!

3. The food. All of the ingredients were fresh, delicious, and perfectly prepared . The menu relied on local ingredients that were in-season, which only makes me want to return at another time of year to see what other dishes he is cooking up. For my trip, one of the standout dishes was the Sydney Rock Oysters with Finger Limes (a native Australian fruit). Chef Jimmy was also able to accommodate dietary restrictions with equally fantastic alternatives. Don't like seafood? Not a problem. Don't eat beef? Chef Jimmy has got you covered!

Chef Jimmy's food, friendless, and enthusiasm for the work he does made this one of my favorite experiences in Australia. I would absolutely do this tour again with friends and family on future trips to Sydney!

Amazing day! Jimmy made it educational, fun and delicious. We saw the fish market that was the beginning of Jimmy getting some fresh seafood for some of what was to come. The fish market itself was worth seeing. A few indigenous to Australia varieties like “bug” that tasted like lobster as well as a fish market that had other amenities making it worth a trip back for lunch another day. We embarked from there to a lovely park with a lake where we had a bathroom break while he went to our eventual destination and prepared a breakfast for us at a grill station in the park. Two of the participants had special dietary restrictions and he didn’t just substitute something he made them special foods incorporating things everyone had. Fast forward to three very different vineries, one very traditional, one elegant and one modern. At the second and third wineries Jimmy paired the wines with delicious gourmet bites. The winemakers educated us about their wines as we enjoyed being spoiled for the day.
The group was friendly, and more so as we got.more lubricated and it was fun to meet other travelers. Jimmy is a chef who enjoys his craft and enjoys others enjoying his cooking and it shows, One request: can some of the recipes be shared on line? Oh, and we learned to make sushi after breakfast and had our own creations as a snack later in the afternoon. Smart move to put the sushi making before the wine drinking!

Absolutely amazing and probably one of the most well-organized tours I've joined. We visited the fish market, a small mountain where we had breakfast and made sushi, and 3 vineyards. The tour isn't just fun when we arrived at the vineyards or activity sites, but during the transit Jimmy also provided information and fun facts about the attractions or scenery around, but not too much that you felt tired listening. The food that Jimmy made was also great and well-paired with the wines that we got to taste.

Jimmy is also a very friendly, experienced and humorous guide. Not only did he put effort in engaging the participants, but he also took care of the need of individuals. So overall, this tour is fantastic and I'd recommend every wine lovers visiting Sydney to join!

Jimmys mom was right - by mixing his chef background with his tour guide background...what a winner ! This one of a kind in Sydney wine and food tour with Chef Jimmy cooking on site out of his van for you is just wonderful. All courses of the food service were delicious and added another dimension to a winery tour of pairing wines with foods. The wineries we visited in the Hunter Valley were very great too - all small boutique wineries.....and all very good..... we bought wine so that tells the truth.

This was an excellent day tour that I would highly recommend to anyone traveling in Sydney, Jimmy, the tour leader/chef was an excellent host. He is friendly & charming and knowledgeable about food & wines. The tour stops in a park on the way to wine country and Jimmy cooks up an delicious breakfast. After eating, he teaches the group how to roll sushi (which we eat later at one of the wineries). We went on to three wineries for tastings where we sampled 5-7 wines at each winery. The wines were paired with food that Jimmy prepared on his portable kitchen (built into the tour bus). The food was all scrumptious with many Australian specialties served. This small group tour was a bargain for all we got out of it. We would do it again.

Chef Jimmy has perfected this tour! The trip began with a visit to the Sydney Fish Market that was quite informative. We then hopped back in the van for about an hour to a park in Brooklyn for a yummy breakfast and a sushi making lesson using some of the fresh fish we had bought earlier. Then another drive to Hunter Valley for wine tasting and a game of spot to kangaroo! We did spot some! Two more wineries with gourmet food prepared on the spot and paired with specific wines. A grand day for food and wine lovers everywhere!
