About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- SueMo_110 contributionsAn excellent way to be introduced to Sydney.Couldn't ask for a better way of seeing the Sydney Harbour area from the water. It was our first full day in the City and we came up trumps. Beginning with an excellent buffet lunch on board ( not the skimpy portions experienced elsewhere in the past) we were given a full description of what we were seeing mixed with a history of how the city came into being. The guide Ron, a 7th generation Aussie, was able to give us a clear insight into Sydney in our own mutual first language (English) which often doesn't happen on tours. This meant we were able to relax completely and benefit greatly without straining to understand. Would recommend this tour to anyone.Written 21 January 2025
- ejm1016010 contributionsGreat Experience Even With Bad WeatherTook this trip on a rainy day and still had a great time! Ron the commentator was very kind and approached me as I was traveling alone. It’s clear her cares about his job and loves teaching tourists about the harbour. Would totally recommend this tour to someone visiting Sydney. Thanks Ron!Written 17 January 2025

- 78kaisak0 contributionsWould recommend! We really enjoyed the tour. We got to see beautiful views and got good comments from the guide. The tour was 1.5 hours, and it was enough to enjoy the cruise and see the city. The boat was nice and comfortable.Written 10 January 2025

I have just completed a 3rd whale watch, and each one was a totally different experience, and each equally enjoyable. I bought a Groupon voucher (about half the price of regularly advertised cruises) and booked via an on-line link. The booking process was straightforward, and a confirmation email with cruise vouchers arrived promptly afterwards.
On arrival at the point of departure, I reported into the check- in, and after having my temperature checked, was given a boarding pass ( pink paper wristband) which also indicated I had pre purchased a drink (cheaper than buying on board).
Boarding for the lunch cruise was on time at 12.15.
Biggles provided an extensive, and entertaining, commentary throughout the trip, beginning (after the safety demo) with the history of whaling around Sydney and the migrations of the humpback whales.
Lunch was basic, but sufficient... and served as soon as we left Circular Quay.
Shaun, the Pilot, worked well with Biggles to locate, and track, different pods of whales, throughout the cruise.
Sadly, the whales did not oblige us with a play date alongside the boat, but still provided sightings, as they traversed towards their destination....... the Antarctic waters or those up nearer the equator.
I learnt a lot, and had a thoroughly enjoyable cruise on each of the 3 afternoons.
All the staff were friendly. The whole experience from start to finish was a pleasure.
Cruising stops around the beginning of November, until next year, when the whales once again begin their migrations, north or south.
Well worth the money

Such an awesome experience. I was invited to replace someone a few days before and I’m really glad I went out on that day. Best experience and the crew were so friendly and the lunch was great and a drink it was so reasonably priced for a day out on the harbour let alone the show the whales 🐋 🐋 put on for us, we also saw two seals as we headed out.
Biggles was a great guide and explained what to expect and what to keep and eye out for and when returning gave us insights into history in Sydney.
With Covid we did have a lot of safety measures which just shows the crews commitment to our health and safety. Thank you it was a breathtaking experience I will be doing again.

An absolute treat!! We had the most fab whale watching experience with the legendary Biggles and Sean and Nathan and all staff and crew.
The day was perfect. Luck was on our side, a rare experience of 1 in 200 chances to see 11 whales, 3 of them stayed with us for about an hour showing off their tail slaps!! Absolutely awesome to watch.
Ozwhale watching practiced safe/healthy checks before, during and after the cruise to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew. The BBQ lunch was buffet style, consists of healthy salad choices, noodles, grilled chicken, sausages, fresh bread. Tea and coffee were also served.
The boat had comfortable seating (not that we were sitting all the time). Everyone was standing outside enjoying the beautiful sun, sky and harbour while watching the natural whale show in their own habitat.
What a beautiful experience. Biggles is the man. He is a treasure trove of whale watching facts and personal encounters as well as a Wikipedia of Australian history. I heard that he descended from one of the first 10 couples from the First fleet, who were rubbing elbows with Captain Cook in 1778.

Had a great time love the view of Sydney and going out the heads, it took a little journey to see a whale but it was worth it in the end, got to see a few whales and even one that put on a show for us very exciting. And for a extra bonus we got to see some dolphins as well. The crew are great and very friendly, the lunch is good, this was mine and my partner 2nd time on this cruise and I’m making a point to go on this cruise twice a year when in season. Would highly recommend this cruise to anyone wanting a trip out sea to search for whales.

Hi there,
We are delighted to hear that you had a great time on board with us sailing out past the heads, to sight some amazing whales with the additional extra of dolphins.
Even better to hear that you found our crew very friendly, and that this was your 2nd time on our cruise this season! So happy you have repeated this experience with Oz Whale Watching.
We look forward to having you on board at the end of this season and next year!

Get in early for lunch, it isn't running for long to reduce people filling their bellies and getting sick. The crew and captain are very knowledgeable and were able to find us some whales. We also got lots of great info about Sydney Harbour and surrounds on the trip. Make sure you have sea-sickness tablets. One of our four kids was a little queasy but keeping them active, moving and watching the ocean is the key. Lots of people spent money to feel sick and sit inside with their head on a table. Don't be one of them.

Wonderful afternoon! A committed crew that were professional and knowledgeable, but also created a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We took a trip up North as there had been reports of a feeding event, and the host was excited as this only happens every few years. We didn't find it, but I was caught up with the host's genuine excitement at the prospect.
He extended the cruise to make up for the disppointment, and we were treated to 4 whales swimming alongside us and repeatedly displaying their surfacing, dives and tail flicks.
The food was great, lots of whales, plenty of room and ability to see them. So enjoyable, I'd definitely go again!

Great day out, across Sydney Harbour and out ‘the Heads’ searching for whales off the northern beaches of Sydney.
Really close encounter with 4 juvenile whales right in the middle of the heads.
Biggles gave an excellent commentary throughout the day and applied his knowledge of whales to finding us a very close encounter.
The vessel is comfortable and lunch is adequate with bar prices non-exorbitant.

Beautiful day and fun cruise.
The skippers knowledge and commentary on not only the whales biology but also Sydney history in general also had some amazing dad jokes peppered in.
I’ve been on other ones where they encourage everyone to scream, yell and ‘woo’ which isn’t my thing so this one was much better.
They also do the right thing ethically by the whales, as such, the whales were much closer to our boat than the others that were deliberately trying to spook the whales into breaching etc.
Also well worth it if you have no interest in whales and are happy with a nice cruise and BBQ lunch with spectacular views of Sydney harbour.

This is our third time on this cruise, we have seen lots of whales and learnt something new from the very knowledgeable guides every time. An amazing way to spend the afternoon, watching these enormous creatures who don’t seem bothered at all that we’re there., mainly because the crew show a lot of respect to the rules and know types of behaviour to look out for so they don’t over crowd or spook them. Yesterday’s host was entertaining and clearly passionate about what he does, we stayed with two whales who surfaced time and time again for about two hours, awesome! The food is simple but tasty and the crew all very pleasant. Thank you once again!

Hi there , well I’ve only been the once but when talking to all other passengers a lot actually do one a week!!
But I’d definitely go again if I was staying here longer. We did the afternoon 12-4 and we saw quite a few .
Difficult to say which one would be better but if you can do both of them on different days .
I’m sure you’ll see some in September, I’d give Oz whale watching a call to see what they say . Hope this helps
