Picture With Koala
Mar. 2020
The Ferry from Sydney Harbor to Taronga Zoo was a pleasant ride and the cable car ride from the dock to the zoo enteance gave you a spectacular view. The zoo did have a large variety of animals but the koalas were the most popular and the main reason we went. My wife and friend wanted their picture taken with them. You are not allowed to touch them, but they take a professional photograph with you under a tree with a koala in it. After which they allow you to take photographs on your own in the koala enclosure. There is a charge and you do have to make a reservation of which they make a limited amount each day. They have several talking exhibits throughout the day. You can walk, bus or cable car back to the ferry for another pleasant ride across the harbor.

ZOO WITH A VIEW !!
Feb. 2020
Great zoo, most informative zookeepers, wonderful assortment of well cared for animals with large clean enclosures. Elephants, tigers, meerkats, seals, koalas and more. And what a amazing view!! There is no other zoo in the world with a view like this. Seeing the spectacular view of Sydney Harbor and the city skyline from the top of the mountain across the harbor where the zoo sits? That alone is worth the price of the ticket. The best view of all is from the Free-Flight Bird Show. Ferry ride across the harbor was quick and easy. Then the Sky Safari aerial tram ride up the hill from the water was cool too.

A great time getting to the zoo on the ferry and a great time at the zoo
Jan. 2020
Not sure what I liked better, the trip to the zoo on the ferry was fantastic - we started at Darling Harbor and the ferry stopped at the Sydney harbor to pick up passengers - then off to the zoo. The trip was fantastic - loved seeing Sydney from the water.

Then we got to the zoo - once you dock you walk up to the tram which takes you to the top of the hill - on the way you are going over some of the animals which is great. The zoo is very well designed - you walk down hill all the way to view the animals and then get on the ferry to go back home.

The animals in the zoo were very interesting - nice environments and unusual animals for those of us visiting from the USA

Worth taking the ferry to this great zoo!
Jan. 2020 • Friends
The ferry ride was beautiful on the way to the zoo. Once you get to the zoo, you get to take the sky safari to the entrance and again, more amazing views. The zoo itself is awesome. It’s huge but pretty easy to navigate. It was extremely hot, so a lot of the animals were just lounging in the shade but we were still able to see them all. Ferry experience back was BAD!
Dec. 2019
This was really good at the beginning taking the ferry across the Sydney harbour to get to Taronga Zoo and we did went up the gondola to the zoo. Spent the day at the zoo which was great then we came back to the dock to catch our ferry back there a lot of people and when the ferry arrived it was quite a small one that could only fit about 60 people I think. We were a group of 14 and not all of us made it on the first ferry. It was bad, especially when the skipper of the ferry who was on his own said that there was another ferry right behind him. So we took the first ferry and only 12 of us were on it leaving behind 2 people of our group behind to catch the ferry that was coming. We made it across to the dock on the circular quay side and then the same ferry departed. We had to wait for our remaining 2 to arrive for our group to be reunited again. 20 minutes or so later the same ferry that dropped us back was the same one that went back to pick up the remaining number of people. Firstly that skipper lied and us trying on board the first ferry lots of people were pushing it was messy and disgusting there was no need for such unorganised boarding but there were not enough staff to assist with boarding. Overall we were not happy with the service ending the trip but it was what it was but it goes to show we will not recommend this cruise company or take it again.

Dear MarcelT2A, Thank you for your review of your Captain Cook Cruises experience. As any other ferry operator in the harbour, we unfortunately depend on traffic and weather conditions to operate which can be affected by unforeseen circumstances. For that reason, we update our timetable daily to try to be as reliable as we can. In this circumstance, there was another vessel due to arrive shortly after the ferry you are referring to, however it was unable to pick up passengers due to a mechanical issue. We do apologise sincerely for the inconvenience. As you know we value customer feedback, therefore your comments were forwarded to the relevant managers on that matter. Thank you once again for your feedback. Kind Regards, Head of Customer Service Captain Cook Cruises

We had 3 days in Sydney. This was definitely the best thing we did whilst in Sydney. Just the ferry over was a treat but the zoo was the best I’ve ever visited.

A must!
Jan. 2020
The harbor cruise itself is little more than a ferry service from Circular Quay to the Taronga Zoo, taking 10 minutes. However, what’s waiting at the other end is fantastic! The zoo is great and well worth the time and money. Up close to kangaroos, wallabies, emu and others. Seals and penguins. Some koalas. A suggestion if you’re going is to buy the hop-on/hop-off ferry ticket, so you can also go to Manly.

Nice visit
Jan. 2020 • Family
We took captain cook ferry and visited Taronga Zoo on Jan 1st, 2020. The zoo was amazing. We saw kangaroos roaming along with us. We saw koalas wife awake. Zoo is not very big. You may plan the visit for half a day.

Only thing captain cook ferry was not that frequent on that day, while regular ones were more frequent.
