No. 1 Work Christmas party lunch
We had our first ever Work Christmas Cruise. We all paid for it ourselves, seemed a little expensive at the time, but as soon as we stepped foot on board, we knew it was value for money. We had the drinks package, and it was excellent value. The waiters kept asking us if we needed more drinks, and were bringing them to our table very efficiently. I have done 10 other Harbour Cruises at night, but they were nowhere near this standard. I received quotes from other operators, but felt this was the best, and I was right.

    Super experience
Super experience of fabulous harbour views with charcuterie selection & glass of wine. We were warmly greeted by Surpriya & shown to our pre allocated table. A very pleasant way to spend a few hours.

    Taronga Zoo
Thank you very much, I enjoyed my day at Taronga Zoo, which has a wide range of animals and is excellently curated enabling visitors to learn a lot. My favourite animal sightings were the tigers, elephants, koalas and kangaroos.

Taronga Zoo Tour & Sydney Harbour
The Taronga Zoo is a great place to explore and see all the animals while in the Sydney area. If you go with children, you could easily spend a full day there. They also have a hotel at the zoo, in case you wanted to do night walks to see the nocturnal animals in their natural habitat. That would be very cool to do also! I would definitely recommend this trip, but depending upon your available time, you may want to take a regular taxi ferry, as they run more frequently than the Captain Cook Cruises.

Easy way to see Australian animals and others right in Sydney
Taking the ferry to the zoo makes for a fun day. There are also great views of the city from the zoo itself. Taronga is somewhat spread out, but you can see most of it in about 4 hours. At the moment, they seem to have several exhibits undergoing renovations, so they seem to be continually improving the facilities. KIds would really enjoy doing this while in Sydney!

    Nice way to see Sydney
Lovely tour! Short ferry ride to each stop, where you could wander as you wished. Zoo was very nice and we also stopped at Watson’s Bay which was a cute small town.

A Must See for Animal Lovers
Fantastic way to spend an afternoon after taking the ferry over from Circular Quay. The zoo had a wonderful variety of animals from different continents. The zoo was very clean and had adequate bathroom stations and water bottle filling stations as well. We were able to take in the Free Flight bird show. It was fantastic. The show with the seals was also enjoyable. Unbelievable views back toward Sydney Harbour from vistas within the zoo. Nice photo shots. Would suggest some better signage from the lower part of the zoo where are you depart from the ferry to get up to the area of the zoo by the upper main entrance. Existing Signage was a little confusing.

    Disappointed this time
I went whale watching with Captain Cook back in 2016 and had a great time. We rebooked for today which left us very disappointed as we are at the end of our Australia trip and really wanted to see whales close up before we go home. Firstly, the cruise was booked for 1:15, we did not leave the port until after 1:30. Whereas other companies nearby which were also booked for 1:15 left boarded prior to this time and left the port at 1:15. Following a fellow passenger suffering with sea sickness just as we got out to sea, we returned to Watson's Quay to allow them off the boat with several other passengers. I could not hear what was being said over the speaker at any point outside as it was not loud enough, so had to ask staff when we stopped at Watsons Quay what on earth was going on. We were first told that we would be returning to Circular Quay and could enquire with the booking office to explore our options. However I was then advised that we were going back out whale watching following the drop off at Watsons Quay. They did not mention at this point that this would be for about 15 minutes (having lost about an hour of the trip returning the unwell customer back to the quay and then getting back out to sea) and we would still be returning to Circular Quay at the same time as previously planned, I wrongly assumed that we would be allowed a little more time. We did thankfully see a couple of whales, but just their fins surfacing from the water, however we did not have time to hang around in the area and wait for any more to resurface due to the rush to get back to Circular Quay. I would recommend that others book with other companies who offer 3 hour trips as it gives you a bit more time to see the whales, and should anything go wrong, it will hopefully mean you're not rushing back. These companies also seemed to set off from Circular Quay before us, despite having the same booking time. The problems above were clearly not the staff on boards fault, but I just feel as though the situation could have been handled better and communicated better with the remaining customers on board.

    Expensive and disappointing
Overpriced venue with some really rude staff especially the filipino bar manager who walks around like a storm trooper. Meals were little more than snacks , I asked for a med well steak which was a piece of meat about the size of a 50 cent coin and no joke it was charcoaled and bar prices were high as well and for the $140 price per person without any drinks im sure you could find better value for money! Only redeeming factor was the first officer upstairs who was friendly and great to talk to which made the outing a little better

Definitely worth it, especially on your first day to the city. Worth the money, and a good initial orientation to the city. Views were fantastic.

Whilst the food was acceptable, it was nothing to write home about. We were left very disappointed, the Sunset cruise was booked by our son who lives in Sydney as we were visiting and him and his wife for our 20th wedding anniversary . It turned out despite the name of the cruise being SUNSET the cruise finished about an hour half before the sunset! Whilst I’m sure it was somewhere in the small print , it seems to me it should not be a Sunset Cruise if it does not include the sunset. All for of us left the boat feeling disappointed, and I could hear other guests saying the same things as we were. The cost of the cruise meant it was not good value for money .

Never read the reviews before we went but we were only in Sydney for four days so we decided to cram as much in as we could and thought a "nice" trip round Sydney harbour seeing the sights and having a meal onboard would be a great treat for us all and we knew we would not see a sunset due to the time of year but the whole trip was a low point and a waste of money putting a damper on a great holiday. As reported by another reviewer the boat left late and returned early cutting the trip by 20 minutes with no commentary of any of the harbour attractions just a whistle stop tour but by far the worst aspect of the cruise was the meal. We had paid for a windows seat ( which we got ) and on sitting down at the table we looked at the sparse menu and the four of us in our group decided on what we would like for our starter and mains which proved to be a complete waste of time as the waitress arrived with two each of the two choices and slapped them on the table and said sort them our yourselves as this is how we do it and so if you all want the same meal you cannot have it you only get two luke warm fish and two chicken mains for four guests so two have to have something they don't want, for the price they charge they should do better than that. Terrible service and poor value for money if they have trouble with their catering they should give you choice of food on booking so they know what to get in.

Hi Roger We are very disappointed to hear that you were dissatisfied with your experience onboard with us. We've been proudly cruising Sydney Harbour for over 50 years and we always aim to deliver the highest standards onboard Captain Cook Cruises and take seriously the feedback of our valued customers. It certainly does sound like on this occasion we fell short of those standards, so may we ask that you email us at dine@captaincook.com.au as we would greatly appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further, and somehow resolve your dissatisfaction and restore your faith in us once again. Kind regards Holly

We boarded at King St Wharf and the cruise was on the Sydney 2000 on sky deck. We didn’t have a window seat but we didn’t need it. Windows are so big and clear that we could see the views clearly from where we were seated. Surprised that the 3-course meal was served alternatively Only one small bread roll per person which seemed a bit skimpy. Service of food was very quick. Entrees & mains served within first half hour on board. Food looked plain appearance wise but was quite tasty and we both enjoyed all 3 courses. Drinks could only be ordered via the QR code on the table. Pianist and singer provided nice background ambience whilst dining inside and there was plenty of time to go out to the spacious outside decks to take lovely sunset photos. We are glad we did this as we had a very pleasant 2 hour cruise.
Plan to do the High Tea cruise next.

I booked this for my partners birthday as a surprise whilst on holiday in Sydney and have to say there were elements that left us disappointed. There was no choice of food - two options for each course and you were given one of each whether you liked it or not. Food was bland and not very exciting at all. Dessert was probably the best course. Our starter was served almost as soon as we departed which is fine if your cruising but we sailed to Circular Quay from Darling Harbour and picked up other guests. This meant we were eating our dinner whilst docked looking at the wharf and a rusty metal pole, waiting for guests to board!
The entertainment during dinner wasn’t great either - a guy playing the piano and a woman singing through her nose! There was a woman singing on the lounge deck who was so much better and would have been much better received on the dinner deck. The lounge deck has some lovely seating and if I’d have known about the food choices (not advised when booking), I’d probably have opted for the afternoon tea which is served on this deck.
Views were worth seeing and the fact you could wander up to the outside decks when you wanted was good.
We sailed back with 10 minutes to spare so not the full 2 hours as advertised.

The staff are exceptional, one of our party uses a wheelchair and every single staff member ensured that both boarding and disembarkation was comfortable.
I loathed the drinks scanning code system and strongly recommend you nominate one person to work out the system and another to get photos or, alternatively - just forget about having a drink on board so that you can get photos.
Staff have been instructed to push the full menu on each table e.g; 2 people get one of each, 4 - 2 of each. So if you both want chicken or fish preorder. (Though this may also be ineffective as I’m fairly certain I aid that 1 of our party was vegetarian and I still had to insist x 4 on that course).
The views are fabulous. The photo ops brilliant.
Highly recommend the cruise.

We are sorry to hear you didn't appreciate the QR ordering system but guests are also welcome to order drinks with our waitstaff. The dinner was excellent catered very well for the vegan in our party. All the food was great.
Called a sunset cruise but actually we boarded at 5pm so arrived back before sunset having said that the views of the city, Sydney Harbour bridge and the Opera House were spectacular. Well worth doing.

Very disappointing, we spent money on a nice and quite sunset dinner for my mum, unfortunately we didn't see any sunset, because it's so early, but the big problem is that they offer a set menu, but what they don't explain is that they will put it on your table 2 different starters and you have to spread them out on the table even if you don't like it, then the main course was chicken and fish, they gave us 4 chicken and 3 fish dishes and then we decided who eats what, CRAZY! If no one eats fish, then you hold on and eat it.
For the prices they charge, I would have gone to a 5-star restaurant to eat whatever I want.

We very much enjoyed this Cruise, the food was lovely and once we got the hang of ordering drinks on our mobile phone it was very easy with quick service and reasonable prices. It was pleasant and relaxing just floating around the harbour enjoying the sights while we dined.

This trip was okay, but really, all the boat did was circle the same portion of the harbor four or five times while we were served an average meal.

We believe a better alternative would be to have a better meal at a land-based restaurant and get your cruise experience with a ferry trip. The ferry gives you much better angles for pictures and generally viewing the highlights of the harbor.

This boat really travelled too early in the evening to see the harbor at night with the lights on. All of that said, the people on the boat really did a good job, treated us well, and the meal was pretty good.

We had a wonderful time on the Sydney sunset dinner cruise. The cost for 2 adults and 2 kids on a Saturday night was about $315 and it was totally worth it. The food was really nice - a smoked salmon salad, a barramundi filet, and then a lemon-lime tart. Of course the scenery was spectacular, even though it was overcast that evening. (But at least the rain let up for the cruise!) I'd recommend this experience.
