          Wonderful Group Hije
Jon and Kevin were great guides. The sunset hike is the way to go. We had a beautiful afternoon and evening. The snacks, dinner and gear they provided were great. They were attentive to dietary needs and allergies in our group. The hike itself was fantastic; we had 9 people ages 13-75, and each and every person loved it. The photos are excellent and the overall experience even better.

          Grand Canyon sunset
As a 64 year old woman I was a little nervous for the hike, but totally wanted the experience. It was hard but totally worth it. The guides Kevin and Kristy, were exceptional!! They were so supportive. The sunset below the rim was beautiful. Food was delicious.

Fabulous way to see the Grand Canyon
Where to begin - wish we could rate it higher than 5 stars, it was that good. First, Jon and the guides are great - Jon organizing, communicating, answering questions, and helping with details. Kevin and Christy were the guides - top notch guides and hikers, knowledgeable and fun, patient and responsive. Besides that, they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet - not only for our group but asked every group on the way down and back up if they were doing okay or needed water or other help. As for the hike, it was beautiful scenery and views that you just can't see from the rim. We took our time and came out of the canyon right as the sun was setting, so it was a perfect view. We had a few hiccups but with the goal of everyone happy and smiling when we got back to the rim, it was a great hike and highly recommend Only Grand Canyon Day Hikes. The food was great and the snacks and drinks abundant. The trekking poles were a big plus and learning how to use them helped too. All in all, it was a great once in a lifetime adventure.

          Must Do Hike
This was my husband and my first trip to the Canyon. We went with a friend who had been before but only viewed it from the top. We wanted to experience the Canyon by hiking down into it. This tour was perfect for so many reasons. First, although we are regular walkers we are not experienced hikers. With the helpful tips from our guide Kevin we were able to successfully hike 2 miles down into the Canyon and back up again. Second, as advertised Jon provided everything needed to have a successful hike- walking sticks, backpacks filled with more snacks than needed, water, frozen Gatorade, back packs, Jon’s famous and delicious chicken wrap, and even headlamps which we did not use because we made it back to the top before full dark. Third, our guide Kevin was very knowledgeable, patient, and encouraging the entire trip. He also took fabulous photos of us! So happy we picked this tour. Memories of a lifetime were made.

          Incredible Family Hike Experience
I can’t express how amazing our experience was from start to finish. My mom has always loved the Grand Canyon and we thought it would be really special to have all 3 generations of us hike into it together for my daughter’s first trip to see it. Jon walked me through everything and made us feel that the trip would be catered to suit us as the ages range from 11-73. When we met on the day of the trip I could tell he had remembered all of the details I had told him over the phone. He truly cares that you have a safe and wonderful time. They also have backpacks with everything you could possibly need with amazing snacks! Our guide picked us up in Flagstaff and was with us the whole time. Kristen was truly awesome looking out for us, walking us through any points that made us nervous or were a little harder (going up), and she is just fun to be around. Hiking into the canyon is alone an awe inspiring experience but Jon and his crew still managed to make it even better. Thank you so much from our family for this memorable and perfect day!

Our Grand Adventure Hiking with Jon!
We enjoyed our private hike for two to Skeleton Point with Jon! He provided everything we needed, even gloves for my husband. He was very knowledgeable and patient with us. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch overlooking the canyon and the Colorado River. He even accommodated for my GF DF diet. He provided a variety of snacks and plenty of water. He made sure we didn’t miss a thing, even capturing some amazing photos of us. Hiking with Jon was a blast and worth every penny!

          Absolutely perfect! Book it!
Absolute highlight of our vacation and definitely in the top three of all vacation activities we’ve done. From the time we booked the trip to the very end everything was professional, well executed and perfect. John was very responsive with booking and questions. He followed up with us the night before to confirm everything. Our guide, Kevin, was out of the gate wonderful. He showed up with a huge smile and enthusiasm which was contagious. You can tell he is passionate about his job, his clients and of course the Canyon. He made us feel safe and comfortable. They supply everything you could possibly need. Backpacks, walking sticks, water, great snacks…everything. Our hike was perfect. The lunch was delicious and perfectly timed. Kevin took amazing pictures that we will always treasure. All four of us, me, my husband and two 20 year olds all agreed this was a wonderful day and there is not one thing we would change. Thank you John and Kevin for a memory making day. Book this trip and enjoy!

          You Canyon do it!
Wow! What an amazing experience. We’re a family from Houston with a 12 yr old son who don’t do much hiking at all…the most climbing I do is a flight of stairs to the 2nd floor of our home. So, if we can do the South Kaibab trail you may be able to do it as well. It does have way more “stairs” than I was expecting (especially as compared to the bright angel trail). Our guide was Kevin and we loved him. I was so thankful that he didn’t have that typical, annoying tour-guide voice. He befriended us from the beginning and we felt like family. He talked to us in a normal, friendly tone of voice and had so many fun facts and stories about the early canyon characters. He clearly loves his job. I was also thankful that he encouraged us to take breaks and enjoy the view, especially on the way back up when I needed it the most. If we can do it , you canyon too! 😂

          Highly recommend
This is a fun, worthwhile and exciting way to explore the Grand Canyon. Jon is an excellent and attentive guide, and an enthusiastic and knowledgeable hiking coach. We came away not only with wonderful memories of hiking below the Rim, but also hiking tips that will serve us well on the trails ahead.

          Fantastic!
Jon was incredibly prepared, entertaining, professional, and encouraging. He is a genuinely good person and offered water to non-group members who were struggling. My teens said this hike was their favorite part of our trip. Climbing out of the canyon at sunset and moonrise will stay with us all forever.

          Top Ten Day
WOW...I can't believe it's been one week since we hiked the Grand Canyon with our two grown daughters. To see the Grand Canyon from the Rim is an awe inspiring view, BUT to actually hike down into its majestic vastness and truly see its beauty, is a once in a lifetime memory or for me, it was addressing my fear of heights....UGH... I can not find the words to express how SAFE I felt with Jon. His experience, guidance AND ability to read the situation made the day. Providing all the tools needed for a successful and enjoyable hike (we are novices) has spawned a new desire to "get out there and HIKE." We also witnessed Jon's compassion as a really decent human being. He offered water/hydration to fellow hikers on the trail who were looking a bit 'stressed'. This hike is hard work and not being prepared can lead to serous consequences. Thank goodness we were able to enjoy this family memory with a true profession. The photos we were able to get during our trip down (and up) are not only proof we enjoyed ourselves, but I have our Christmas card ready to go:). Thanks again Jon for everything....you and your company are the BEST!!!

          Unforgettable Experience
Neither my husband nor myself had ever visited the Grand Canyon before we booked a day hike with Only Grand Canyon. From the start, we knew we were in good hands. In the weeks before our hike, Jon enthusiastically kept us informed on details, answering all of our questions along the way. On hike day, Kevin kept us safe, well-hydrated and fed, took many photos for us, pointed out big-horn sheep and other wildlife, shared wonderful canyon stories ... and best of all, shared in our awe of this majestic place. As seniors, we moved a bit slower than other hikers along the trail. But Kevin was patient and always encouraging. We felt very proud of ourselves physically, as I know I worked pretty hard coming back up! But this trip is about so much more than that sense of accomplishment. It is the chance to enjoy nature at its stunning best with qualified professionals who love it too.

My husband and I did the sunset half day hike on the South Kaibab Trail with Jon and we agreed it was the highlight of our trip around Arizona and Utah. Jon provided everything we could possibly need - backpacks, poles, tons of water, snacks, a great meal (yes, the chicken wraps are as good as everyone says), sunscreen, toilet paper, everything! We watched him help clean up and bandage someone who had a minor fall in our first 5 minutes of the hike down and we knew we were with the right guide. We were a little nervous about doing the full 6 mile hike but he always set the right pace for our ability and we never felt rushed or exhausted. We agreed, we would never have attempted to hike as far as we did without a knowledgeable guide with us. If you want to feel like you really saw and experienced the Grand Canyon, book a hike with Jon!

Jon showed us a fantastic time today. We hiked the South Kaibab Trail down to Cedar Point. On the way, he gave us a lot of information about the history of the Canyon and was more than happy to answer our many questions about the area. We stopped at Ooh Ahh Point, Windy Ridge and finally Cedar Point…where, like a magician, Jon made the BEST chicken wrap we have ever eaten! He made sure to take plenty of pics of us. We are getting married next month and he even brought a bottle of sparkling cider and cups to toast our upcoming marriage. He also brought plenty of fluids and snacks for us, as well as lent us great backpacks and walking sticks. The hike back to the rim was challenging but he was encouraging and patient as we stopped for as many breaks to catch our breath as we needed. 10/10 recommend!

We are a family of four with two 11 year old kids and we wanted to do more than just look over the edge and see the Grand Canyon. We wanted an authentic hike into the canyon, experiencing all the splendor it has to offer. We were nervous going it alone, so we booked Jon’s private guided hike for the family. This turned out to be the highlight of our two-week family vacation! Jon took care of everything making sure we were fully prepared with all the right equipment, appropriately dressed, well-hydrated and fed. He was so great with the kids, he brought the canyon to life and we were so proud of ourselves for completing the hike. With Jon’s expertise, we had a an amazing experience. I cannot rave enough about Jon’s guided Grand Canyon Tour!!

OUTSTANDING! If you are interested enough to have read about this hike you MUST sign up. It is the perfect way to see the Grand Canyon below the rim. We had both Jon and Kevin as our guides. They covered everything perfectly. They answered all of our questions about the history/geology of the GC and the trail. They got us those amazing views that you want and can’t believe when you are there seeing them for yourself. The food, water, packs, poles, shoe crampons – everything that we needed for a successful hike was provided and was in excellent condition. It was a bit chilly with snow/ice on the top part of the trail our day but they prepared us properly in the days ahead to layer for the temps and hike that we would have that day. They know the GC and adjust to the conditions to provide you with a fantastic hike. Kevin made the wraps fresh, on the trail at lunchtime – they were excellent.

We had three fit people (one who was only 12wks on a new knee), one moderately fit person, and one unfit person. Kevin and Jon were excellent at adjusting to the realities of our group. They provided excellent encouragement to the less fit to help them focus on the next resting point on the way back up. In the end we did the hike in about 4.5hrs which we were told is about average.

That is what Jon and Kevin provide – all of the attention that your group needs to have the best experience on your hike. They know the trail, the weather, and how to work with hikers of all abilities. We could not have asked for more from ONLY Grand Canyon Day Hikes. They were outstanding. The South Kaibab to Cedar Ridge hike was fantastic. You really need to book this hike.

Jon was a fantastic guide through the canyon. He set up an excellent unique sunset adventure along the South Kaibab trail, and provided superb hiking advice. We had dinner in the canyon, watched the sunset, and then hiked out with head lamps. Was an absolutely unforgettable trip. Highly recommend his service.

We were totally blown away with how much we enjoyed and learned on our guided tour. I recommend this tour to anyone who wants to really see the Grand Canyon and the beauty of the Canyon. Jon, our guide was excellent and extremely well informed. He was also very prepared with water, Gatorade, snacks, lunch and incredible information about the Canyon. Even though it is advertised as Half -Day, it is really three quarters of a day. I say that because you drive to the Canyon, put on your back pack (provided by them) filled with EVERYTHING you might need plus hiking sticks and then you tour the Canyon at your own pace. We were a bit slow but this gave us plenty of time to really see the Canyon.. Plus we had several opportunities along the way to take amazing pictures. I recommend this to anyone interested in seeing the Canyon and making memories.

        Here on some tips:
Listen carefully to your tour guide. Jon had over 25 years of experience and really knew the Canyon.
Wear the right shoes. Parts of the trail may be slippery and hiking shoes are the best.
Wear layers of clothing. Surprisingly, as you go down into the Canyon, the weather gets warmer so you want to start shedding outer layers.
Stay hydrated! Our guide had preloaded our backpacks with water, Gatorade and other fluids we could choose to stay hydrated. There were also several different types of snacks to eat as you are really burning calories.
Wear sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat. Parts of the Canyon are very bright and the sun is intense.

I highly recommend this company to anyone of any age. They will create your tour to fit your unique level of experience. We were a group of three, ages ranging from 7 to 65 years. We all enjoyed it and it really made our trip to Arizona special!

Jon was enthusiastic and so knowledgeable. He took our group of 4 women with varying hiking skills and made each of us feel accomplished. His guidance was spot on and on top of that he prepared a delicious lunch. I’ll never forget the Canyon view while eating and watching the mule train come up the trail! The South Kaibab trail will always be my favorite thanks to Jon.

Thank you so much. I really enjoyed our lunch also and it's always fun to look over the trail you just came up. Thanks for being so tough and hiking through the canyon with me. Thanks again. Greatly appreciated, Jon

Planning a trip to the Grand Canyon with my two young adult daughters, I called the lodge where we would be staying and asked for suggestions on activities. They suggested an Only Grand Canyon Day Hikes tour below the rim with Jon. I could not thank them enough. Jon picked us up at the lodge, gave us the equipment that we needed to make our hike comfortable and safe (snacks and Gatorade too!) and we set off on an exciting, emotional and sensational hike down the canyon. Jon’s knowledge and professionalism provided us an experience of a lifetime!! He explained a lot about the different types of rock, and the various animals you could find, which also made it very interesting. Once down the trail, Jon prepared dinner and we watched the sunset – words cannot describe the emotions we felt. We then began our hike back up the canyon and we had the most astounding view of the Milky Way; Jon then pointed out various planets and constellations. . An absolutely amazing hike!

From the moment you meet Jon you know that you’re in good hands, and that he’s about to take you on the absolute best hike you’ll ever go on. He comes more than prepared to help you and your group. The equipment he allows you to use is top-notch. He’ll bring you more than enough healthy fueling snacks and a delicious lunch to keep you going, and most importantly, he knows how to get the most out of the people he is guiding through the Grand Canyon. Just know that this hike isnt your typical walk in the park, but you’ll get views and memories to last a lifetime, and you’ll feel safe with Jon.
