Seven of us had a relaxing boat tour of the sights and beaches of Alter do Chão. After a minor communication hiccup when we arrived onshore, Karlo went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied. Our guide Antonio was excellent, ready with stories and information when needed. But out of the way when we wanted to just chill. Drinks and fruit were readily available and very good. A wonderful experience that we would highly recommend.

Very well organised tour with brilliant boat crew who were very attentive and took car of all our needs and took us to the best places to visits. This is not on normal tourist trail but we would highly recommend it. A must visit palce on your trip to Brazil . We had five days touring with Selvagems boats. Very pleasant and comfortable. Only 1 day we got an english speaking guide, and that put an extra lift. Though I understand being restrict on personell, we actually got the hole boat on our own the 4 of us what we appreciated very much. Thanks to Carlos for helping us with all we asked.

We had 3 wonderful days on Selvagem Céu. I usually do lots of advance planning for travels, but this time I just turned myself over to Karlos who promised everything would be taken care of—and it was! From our early morning arrival and departure to my son’s food allergies everything is as completely well-organized. Karlos emphasized that staying on the boat wouldn’t be luxurious, and he was right that the accommodations were simple but comfortable. But the professionalism and extremely high customer service standards of the crew made it feel like a 5-star resort. They did everything they could to anticipate our needs, preferences and wishes! The food was unbelievably delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The chef (Nati) was very knowledgeable about local food traditions. Each of the locations and communities in which we stopped were special in their own way, and hostess/guide Liza made sure we knew what to do and expect. It was clear that although our captain Nesias was young, he was very competent. We experienced a brief but intense storm but had no trouble—but we did see another boat that wasn’t so fortunate. We have already strongly recommended this experience to our friends, and we also suggest that they consider traveling in the off-season. It was quiet, uncrowded and incredibly beautiful.

We spent three glorious days in Alter do Chão which was arranged by Selvagem via Viare Travel in Sao Paulo. Karlos welcomed us the night before the trip and made sure we had the best time throughout our stay. There were only two of us from England and for two days we joined a group of Brazilian people, most of whom didn’t speak English. It didn’t matter, we had fantastic fun and it gave us the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the Brazilian culture. The Sevalgem boats are large and very comfortable whether you want to sit on top sunning yourself or below enjoying a drink or pick from the well stocked fruit bowl. The crews on board were lovely and couldn’t be more helpful. We were taken to beautiful beaches, remote villages, on jungle walks and canoe trips. Watching the sunsets was truly spectacular. On our last day there were only the two of us. We spent the night on the boat and in the evening the crew prepared a BBQ dinner for us on the beach surrounded by candlelight – magical. Selvagem is a great company and Karlos will personally make sure your stay at Alter do Chão is as enjoyable and interesting as possible.

Had an excellent 5-day trip with Selvagem to see Jamaraqua, Fordlandia, and the Tapajos River. It was a good mix of activities — from touring a latex factory to swimming in the river to walking around the Fordlandia site — still with plenty of time to relax in a hammock with a caipirinha. My guide, Frank, was very knowledgeable about both the history and the people living here. Our cook, Patricia was almost worth the trip by herself, her food was so excellent! I highly recommend the trip and the company.

We did five entire-day tours with Karlos and his staff and the experience was extremely enjoyable in every single one. Karlos went above and beyond to provide an unforgettable experience for us by: (I) creating a tailored itinerary in which we covered not only the main attractions, but also several little, hidden desert beaches; (II) having an extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff (great caipirinhas in the open bars tours) - I was surprised how they quickly acted upon any piece of feedback we gave to them; (III) recommending the best places and things to do in the region; (IV) consistently having an unique customer service in every point of contact and interaction with his staff! You should never take for granted this level of service in this region of Brazil in which general service providers (e.x restaurant owners, tours, bar owners) are not nearly as professional as he is; (V) offering tailoring experience (barbecue in a desert island in which his staff prepared the food there). I definitely recommend this tour! Have fun!

Getting to know a well-preserved Amazon forest was a dream come true with Karlos and his crew. Top-notch service from booking the short trip to the end of the activity. First, Selvagem tours is punctual. We started the trip at the time previously set, unlike many other tour companies in Brazil. Second, the small ship we took was a very comfortable and safe one, a much different experience when compared to the speedboats available from other tour companies. Third, the whole experience was very well organized as far as timing was concerned. There was well allotted time for each activity, giving us time to enjoy everything without rushing. Also, everything written on the site is also true. From the availability of “caipirinhas” onboard to the beauty we see on our walk on the Flona. The pricing is also absolutely fair. There was a little glitch on my credit card and Karlos was superb getting it all solved ASAP. In other words, unforgettable experience with a very competent and reliable crew. Definitely do it again when I bring my parents to Alter do Chão.

A friend and I stumbled upon Selvagem Tours by chance and we thought it was just going to be an average boat trip. It turns out that not only Karlos is an amazing host who makes you feel totally welcome from the moment you set foot on his boat (you can tell it's not just a boat but his home you are entering), he is also extremely knowledgeable and totally accommodating to your needs. Unlike other tour operators you can entirely customize your trip when travelling with him. He takes great pride in listening to what it is you would like out of your trip and organise it accordingly. Totally recommended! Enjoyed it thoroughly. Too bad we only did day trips. Totally worth your while to sleep on board and go on longer trips. No better way to explore the area!

We only did a 3 hour boat ride. Water was very high. Once we got back where the enchanted forest was, if we wanted to go inside we hired another smaller boat for 4 people for $10 per boat. It was like the everglades. Be aware that the boat ride driver probably doesn't speak English so makes a boat tour unexplainable.

These are not penned in. It is a natural experience. Yes, they are offered food for their interaction but it is very exciting. Safe for everyone. You stand in the water (Amazon River) several at a time. You can touch and feel the pink dolphins. They are gray when young. Getting pink as they mature. There is another huge fish you can try to lure and get. Good luck and have fun.
