      Michael is a star!
Michael wonderfully hosted us for a very special tasting, generously sharing his knowledge of both the wines and the winery itself. He made our party feel very welcome and provided us with a wonderful experience in an amazing setting.

      Beautiful spot
3 of us dropped in for a visit to this beautiful winery on Sunday 19th November we received fantastic service from the lady who greeted us, she was very knowledgeable about the winery and the area, suggested we go for a walk in the cellar and then suggested a sparkling tasting which we proceeded to get a bottle. We sat out on the deck which had beautiful views of the Goulburn River.

A couples tastings, wanders and lunch!
A special place, a fabulous day. We caught a taxi out for the tasting, just in case. The cellar door experience, and the tasting was fantastic. Kylie was friendly, helpful, informative and we enjoyed the experience. We wandered underneath to the cellars. WOW! We then wandered across to the wetlands restaurant. The menu just very tempting, we chose to stay and were very, very happy. Food was sensational. Wines to match. Service was good, and we could see the staff were busy. Finished sitting the deck with affogatos. A wonderful day, highly recommended. Bought boxes of wines!

Good wine tasting and great restaurant
Friendly and informative cellar tasting. The tasting room is impressive and tastefully restored space with loads of history. Great food, service and ambience at the wetlands restaurant. The farmers market added a nice vibe to the visit.

      Sensational dining experience
It was a lovely afternoon at Tahbilk, we had a lovely meal at the restuarant. The food and wine was sensational and the service was fantastic. Lovely, friendly staff. We then wandered around the grounds and admired the old buildings. We will be back to try the wine tasting and a bit of exploring on the eco trails.

      Fantastic
Great place to visit. Oozes the history of the winery. You can experience by wandering amongst the original buildings with historical machinery, venture down into the cellars or undertake some wine tasting with very knowledgeable and attentive staff. Would definitely recommend a visit from young to old

Reminded us of a Bordeaux winery
We called in at Chateau Tahbilk for a cellar-door experience. We didn't dine at their restaurant nor undertake any other activities. We were quite familiar with their wines, which we liked ... a lot. We were certainly not to be disappointed. When we arrived we were surprised that the winery reminded us a wine chateau we had visited near Bordeaux a few years ago. Both the buildings and the grounds were very reminiscent. The winery dates from 1860 and has an impressive provenance. We sampled an array of whites and reds, including some vintage reds that aren't normally available for tasting, but the bottles had already been opened ... so our host invited us to try these too, which was must appreciated. And there no fee fo tasting at Tahbilk - unlike virtually any winery in NSW you go to these days. We particularly liked their Cab Sav and the Cab Merlot, as well as some of the whites. Needless to say, we came away with a box of wine and also joined their wine club. Don't miss the very impressive, evocative cellar under the tasting area. Also, the winery says it is carbon-neutral, another positive.

      Excellent
What a sensationally beautiful location with its own magnificent billabong and boat ride. The captain of the boat was delightful and so very kind and helpful, full of knowledge and a true gentleman. Cellar door absolutely amazing and very well worth the tastings. Don’t forget to go down stairs. The chef cooked up delicious tapas style food which was definitely worth eating in. However and sadly the head waitress was extremely rude, nasty and down right left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. Her attitude was horrendous. Holly the other beautiful waitress was so polite, assertive and helpful, thank you Holly you made the uncomfortable situation bearable. Definitely worth a visit, I just hope you don’t have dealing with the nasty waitress.

      Australian winery with historic roots
Tahbilk is one of Victoria's best known wineries. It has been producing estate grown and bottled wines since the 1860s.. It specializes in Rhone Valley varieties, such as Marsanne and Roussanne. The pre phyloxera reds are treasured and sell for premium prices.

      Beautiful local winery
A beautiful winery, well maintained. With friendly and knowledgable staff who were keen to help but not pushy to sell … glad to pick up some very palatable wines at very reasonable prices … well worth a visit if you’re in the area - if you want to eat in the restaurant you’ll need to book.

One of Australia's oldest family-owned wineries
Tahbilk, formerly known as Chateau Tahbilk, is one of Australia's oldest family-owned wineries. Tahbilk's "old block" shiraz, where the vines date from the 1860s, is eagerly sought throughout the world. Oenophiles will also appreciate Tahbilk's Rhone Valley varieties, including Marsanne. Marsanne is one of the few white varieties that improve with age. Extensive plantings of these grape varieties are rare in Australia. In all, the trip to Tahbilk is well worth the effort, especially as you can get a pleasing lunch.

Enjoyable experience with very good wines
Our tasting experience at Tahbilk was excellent. It is such an old winery and some of the old buildings are still being retained. It looks so attractive as you drive up. We were able to go downstairs into the cellar that dates back to 1860. Those attending to us were so helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. We really enjoyed the experience and the wines themselves. We joined their wine club (which, unusually, does not require a commitment to boxes of wine arriving on your door step regularly .) There was a very good variety of wines and at reasonable prices. This is certainly worth a visit.

      Fun, hands on and insightful
Bruce our winemaker, was extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the history of Tahbilk and of course, wine making. We learnt so much about tasting and blending and had a great time. I highly recommend this experience.

      A Winery You Must Visit
There was no Winemaking - Blending Experience class scheduled for the day that I was visiting (solo) but Suzie kindly mentioned my enquiry to Holly who then kindly agreed to give me a session! Holly was amazing, knowledgeable and yet able to make it a fun experience for a novice like me. Thanks Holly! Learned a lot to the art of wine tasting, it was illuminating and now looking forward to tasting wine on my own! With Holly's expert guidance, I took home a bottle of wine blended to my preferred taste. The team at Chateau Tahbilk from the wine cellar to the restaurant was warm and welcoming and service was excellent. A winery and team that is a credit to the Purbrick family ... looking forward to many more years of visiting Chateau Tahbilk.

We really enjoyed our day at Tahbilk and absolutely fell in love with the winery and the estate. Special shout-out to the team for the lovely itinerary they planned for us! Our day guide, Michael, was a really enthusiastic and knowledgeable man who brought so much life to the estate through his stories. The wine-mixing class led by Bruce was loads of fun too and taught us so much about how to appreciate wine; we even got to bring home a bottle of our own mix! We rounded the day off with a scenic boat cruise along the estate’s wetlands, which was made even lovelier by the wonderful blue weather. We had such a memorable time at Tahbilk and are so grateful to the warm and welcoming team for making this possible!

My wife and I visited this Winery and Vineyard recently during our holiday in Nagambie, where we stayed at the Nagambie Waterfront Motel near the town centre.

This was our second visit to this Estate, as we were here last year and enjoyed our visit so much that we decided to visit again.

The main attraction for us was the extensive Eco Trail next to this Estate. We walked across the entire walking trails and were the only visitors during our visit. It was mid week off peak season.

My wife and I were travelling to Benalla for a 2 day Golf Tournament. We left home Sunday morning and decided to drop into a couple of wineries we have never been to in the past on the way. The first was Fowles just off the Hume Hwy and the second was Tahbilk winery.
Tahbilk Winery is very old and has plenty of history, in fact we were told it is the oldest in Victoria. The Cellar door was quite large and were greeted by a lady named "June", who was one of the staff with the tasting.
My wife and I are experienced, "Wineys" and love and know our wine. June was the most pleasant, friendly and knowledgeable tasting staff person we have ever met. We chatted with her while tasting their wine for over an hour, she was of a similar age and we shared family, travel history and anything else that came up with her while tasting the wine. It was the most pleasant experience we have ever had at a winery. As far as the wine went, we enjoyed their whites, sparkling whites and sparkling shiraz. Not a fan of their Shiraz and Cab Sav, all a bit too much Tanin for us. We purchased a half dozen and continued on our way. June, was a champion lady and what a shame we lived so far apart as we would have loved to have seen her later and formed a friendship. Great Experience.

We had a booking for the Tahbilk Cellar door. It is an amazing looking cellar. The staff were very informative and the tastings most enjoyable. We walked away with a few bottles of red and white wine along with a muscat. Also, while you are visiting, take in the museum section and learn the history behind five generations of the Tahbilk family.

We were lucky enough to coincide our visit with the Tahbilk farmer's market. Not a very big market, about 25 stalls but the stalls had excellent produce and home crafts for sale. Market Day is the fourth Sunday of the month so keep this in mind when visiting.

Between the market, cellar door tastings and the restaurant we had a great day at Tahbilk winery. Highly Recommend.

Tahbilk has a significant place in the history of Australian winemaking. Its old vines pre-date the phyloxera epidemic, which killed almost all Australian grape vines. The wine made from these "old growth vines" is treasured. Tahbilk also has extensive plantings of Marsanne, a rare French grape variety. Marsanne is one of the few white wines that improve with age. The Purbrick family, now one of the First Families of Wine, cointinue to nurture this historic vineyard, which dates from 1860. It's well worth a visit.

We had the most fantastic wine blending experience hosted by Holly who was as enthusiastic as she was knowledgeable. Micheal shared the history of the farm prior to the blending session and we thank him for providing some “Cane Cut” for tasting at the extensive cellar door. Croquettes, lamb ragu and smoked chicken accompanied their delicious Marsanne for lunch and was served on the deck overlooking the billabong. After lunch old mate Bob skippered us for an informative boat tour and explained how the winery are reducing carbon emissions as well as improving the entire ecosystem. Highly recommend this place if you love food, wine and good people.

There is plenty to do at Tahbilk. In addition to the wine tastings that everyone comes for, there is a quality restaurant, picturesque eco walking trails and the unique underground cellars which are all worth a visit. A good half day of interest for everyone.

A must visit when in the region. We enjoyed an excellent wine tasting before exploring the winery and grounds. A hot tip! Try to co-ordinate your visit with the Farmer’s Market held on the winery grounds.
