Itinerary

Stop At: Castelo de Sesimbra, Rua Nossa Senhora do Castelo, Sesimbra Portugal

Classified as a National Monument on June 16, 1910, Sesimbra Castle is the last of the Sea Castles, which have come, well preserved, to our day.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Cabo Espichel, Oeste de Sesimbra, Sesimbra 2970-738 Portugal

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Cape Espichel, located on the westernmost point of the coast of Sesimbra, is a unique civil and religious architectural ensemble that combines the monumentality of the building with the immateriality of religious devotion. It consists of the church, guest houses, Hermitage of Memory, Opera House, in ruin, Pilgrim's Gardens Casa da Água and aqueduct. The landscape framing of this monument, in a plateau that ends in cliffs to the sea, makes it monumental.

Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Jose Maria de Fonseca, Rua Jose Augusto Coelho 11 13 Vila Nogueira, Azeitao 2925 Portugal

A family business with almost two centuries of history that, without ever resting on the glory achieved, has been able to modernize. José Maria da Fonseca has been active in wine since 1834, the fruit of the shared passion of a family that has been able to preserve and project the memory and prestige of its founder. Aware of the responsibility of being, at present, the oldest table wine and Moscatel de Setúbal producer in Portugal, José Maria da Fonseca follows a philosophy of permanent development, which leads her to invest more in research and combining the most modern techniques with traditional knowledge. An example of this is the José de Sousa Rosado Fernandes Winery in Reguengos de Monsaraz, Alentejo, where the Roman tradition of fermenting in clay pots keeps abreast of the latest technology.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Portinho da Arrabida, Portinho da Arrabida, Setubal District, Alentejo

Set in the Serra da Arrábida Natural Park, Portinho Beach is one of the most beautiful in Portugal. Its fine white sands and the varied shades of blue of the clear waters contrast with the verdant vegetation of the Serra, forming a beautiful scenery that invites you to rest.

In this quiet bay it is possible to practice diving to observe the marine diversity, however it is forbidden to spearfishing because the seabed is also considered a nature reserve.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Azulejos de Azeitao, Rua dos Trabalhadores da Empresa Setubalense 15 Sitio da Bacalhôa, Azeitao 2925-495 Portugal

Azeitão Tiles uses the European traditional methods of tile making, and reproduces antique designs from, not only European countries, but Islamic and Chinese. We make flat hand painted tiles as well as relief tiles with different color glazes, in the style of Hispano-Moorish tiles of the 16th century.

All our tiles are made to order, so that we can give our clients the flexibility in the size, the colors, and the design.
Here on these pages are just a few of the designs that we have chosen to reproduce. However, we have an extensive library with books on tiles and other ceramics, which we use as reference when we need to find additional images to copy.
