Whale Watching On The Big Island
From USD 75.00
Overview
Hawaii’s Big Island is home to migrating pods of humpback whales, which often breach as they build up energy for their northward migration. This narrated tour brings you to some of the best viewing grounds via 24-person catamaran. You’ll be able to hear the whales singing through the provided headphones. The tour provider guarantees whale sightings or the next trip is free.
What to Expect
Make your way to the Honokohau Marina to be introduced to your guide and start the check-in process for your Big Island Whale Watching Experience.
Whales arrive yearly in the Hawaiian Islands after a 3,000 mile journey. Hawaii is the only state in the USA where humpback whales mate, calve and nurse their young. Your 2.5 hour journey aboard a 24 passenger luxury catamaran is designed for open ocean conditions that will allow you to sit back, relax and enjoy breathtaking views of the beautiful Island of Hawaii and watch the humpback whales.
You'll hear singing humpback whales through our underwater hydrophones, and you may also be lucky to see dolphins. The catamaran has restrooms on-board and will be operated by an experienced United States Coast Guard licensed captain. Once the tour has completed the boat will return to Honokohau Marina so that you can make your way to your next destination.

Whales and dolphins

The captain got us some fantastic views of the whales. We also saw some bottlenose and spinner dolphins that were acrobats. Nate the first mate was took good care of us and made a great suggestion on where to go to see green sea turtles.

Harms Dolphins

The staff on Hang Loose was wonderful, informative and flexible. But the small bay where the dolphins hang out was inundated with too many boats and swimmers chasing the dolphins. This is less like seeing dolphins in the wild and more like swimming with captive...More

Fun crews to be around and generous too

This was the best of the many trips I took in Kona, Hawaii. Captain and Jacob were eager to make our trip memorable. Do not miss sailing with them.
