Big Island in a Day: Waterfalls, Rainforest, Coffee Farm, History
From USD 182.30

Exploring Hawaii’s Big Island can be a big undertaking, but it doesn’t have to be. Avoid the stress of planning out all the details with this guided tour that includes round-trip transport, lunch, snacks, and bottled water for your convenience. Because there’s minimal walking distance during this tour, it’s perfect for people of all ages and fitness levels. Plus, if the weather gets dreary, rain gear is provided to keep you dry.

What to Expect

Start your day's adventure with pickup from your Kohala or Kona hotel in a comfortable tour vehicle, and then head out for the farther reaches of the Big Island. Be sure to bring good walking shoes and dress in layers, as the temperature can vary widely at different elevations. Enjoy traveling with a small group of fellow travelers, limited to just 13 people.

Pass Parker Ranch and into Waimea, where the landscape changes, and take in views of the scenery instead of fussing about directions and logistics. Stop at Waipo Valley lookout for some photo ops and listen to your guide's narrative about King Kamehameha.

Wind down the Hamakua Coast toward Akaka Falls and Rainbow Falls, two of the area's most beautiful. Then visit the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden before continuing on to Punalu'u Beach for a stroll along the black-sand beach. On the way back to Kona, pass Kealakekua Bay and learn about the area's bloody battle history.

If time permits, you may stop at a Kona coffee farm or the famous Punalu’u Bakery before you're dropped off at your hotel.

Overall, this tour was Ok. Our tour guide was not bad, but not very flexible. The itinerary was the best any tour company can do, under the circumstance (closure of HVNP). However, being cramped in the back row of the van with three other people...More

The tour is a 12 hour day by the end of it we were pretty spent and we are adults. The Van is pretty small and there are long stretches of driving without stopping. Im not sure it would be good for choice for small children.

Sorry, there won't be opportunity to swim on this tour. Our Waipio Valley and Waterfall Tours allows you to swim at a private waterfall weather permitting. I hope this answers your question.
