More than 20 years ago, I did a couple of flights at Point Cook while serving in the Air Training Corps/Australian Air Force Cadets. Personally, I thought my experience with Tristar Aviation was much better than the ones at Point Cook. I can definitely understand why they’re the 2020 winner of the Wings of the Year award.

My pilot instructor, Andrew, was very thorough in taking me through the routine inspection of the aircraft and explaining each aspect and its role in the flight. I was also impressed with the way that he took the time to explain the controls and was extremely patient with me when I became nervous when it was my turn to take the controls.

That said, I enjoyed the hands on nature of the experience and that I got to be in control for most of the flight while in the air. Views of Port Phillip Bay from the cockpit were also pretty amazing.
