Super easy and worth the extra money
This was an easy purchase. I got the email 2 days prior with time to get tickets and then my tour time. I took the train to Füssen, walked 8 minutes to the location to pick up my tickets. The lady there was nice, have me my tickets and had very helpful information about transport and when to arrive. I took the bus up to the town. I didn't choose the carriage ride, but chose to walk. It was an incline but less than a mile and really only took 20 minutes. I arrived 15 minutes before my tour time. They let me in the front gate. I took pictures while waiting till the clock indicated my tour time was ready. Scanned my ticket and went in. Very easy process. Very happy with the fact that I had the ticket already and didn't have to stand in line to buy it when I got to town.

Service was great - clear explanation and a great time slot (10:25am) before the crowds got too heavy.

"Skip the Line" really means "Assigned Time"
Oct. 2019
Great castle, very beautiful and well worth a visit. The ticket experience was weird. You buy tickets online....but then have to turn up to the office to collect tickets. We knew about this in advance so weren't too put out but it made the buying online somewhat redundant. We headed up to the castle and were there over 90 minutes before our alloted time. We couldn't skip anything. You had to wait your turn. Again we accepted with good grace as it's not the staff's fault but it seemed ratehr unusual.
The castle itself is lovely but don't expect it to be in the same league as other castles. Firtsly it's only about 140 years old, so it's effectively a modern building, and hasn't seen historical battles, etc. Secondly the queueing is a bit mad as already mentioned. We had hoped, having arrived early that we could skip our guided tour and just go in on our own bat but wre refused. Thirdly, and this is a German cultural thing not a fault of the castle per se, but the coffess shop didn't take bank cards. I'm Irish where virtually every purchase is on card, and you you rarely carry more than 5 euros. Bring cash.
All that said the one positive was the sound quality of the guided tour. Often the little radios they give in other places are appalling but this was quite good. Our guide spoke perfect English which helped.
One final point, as a tourist in a country you shouldbe prepared that people will not speak your language. However in German cities, especially Frankfurt, you wouldn't even need to speak German at all. In the tourist areas, be prepared to try to speak a bit of German, even saying "Bitte" and "Danke", as lots of staff don't speak great English.

Choose the day carefully
Oct. 2019 • Solo
I did the Tour from Munich. It was 31 Oct and was very foggy that we did not see anything. I recommend you search for a clear or sunny day as during fog it was waste of money. Our tour guides one from Germany who was very good , very passionate about the Tour and he did his best to make us enjoy. The other guide who is from UK was not nice at all, doesn't care about anyone and very selfish not even care to count the group members before leaving. So i also recommend you go with tour guide from the country itself. Thanks to Josh our guide in Radius tour agency for trying to help.

Very short tour due to construction!
Oct. 2019
The castle is beautiful and worth a trip to see, but wait until they are finished with all the construction. They need to let guests know it is under construction BEFORE they buy tickets and travel to the castle. Not worth the skip the line ticket price now...just buy onsite.

Be very cautious if you are buying tickets at Fussen railway station. .
Sep. 2019
Amazing castle, well worth the trip. Stunning interior.
One issue however spoiled our day.

Be aware though that you may well be scammed if you buy tickets from the tourist office in the train station. AVOID at all costs.

My friend and I bought tickets from Ruth, the Irish manager, our tour was to begin at the castle at 13.45 on Saturday Sept 7th,

We purchased 2 tickets for €40 from her at 11.30am that morning.

She told us the bus time for the castle and where it left from, she then pushed a map of Fussen under our noses saying "go off and have a coffee before you get the bus"
We had time so off we went, came back, got the bus, went to ticket office at Neuschwanstein to enquire about where the queue for our tour would be, when we showed the agent at the castle our ticket she informed us it was a receipt and not a ticket.
She knew nothing about the Fussen ticket office and refused to call them to verify we had tickets and that they must be there.
Having paid €40 that morning, for 2 tickets, which we now were realizing we didn't receive, we had to purchase two more tickets at €26 to get to see inside the castle.

When we got back to the train station that evening we went into the International Ticket & Travel Center and asked to speak to Ruth [-], who sold us the tickets, she wasn't there, so we asked the girl on the desk to call her as we wanted to speak to her.

From the outset she was extremely aggressive, wouldn't accept that she forgot to tell us to come back for our actual tickets.

Personally in hindsight it's VERY STRANGE that you pay for tickets up front and don't get them there and then.

The paper she'd given us was only a receipt, however we assumed it was our ticket as she stated she put both tickets on the one paper.
She used phrases like 'how dare you' when we spoke to her on the phone, for customer service her manner is appalling, dismissive and down right rude!

It was obvious we weren't getting a refund, when we left she was still on the phone to the girl who also works on the counter, I have a good understanding of German and from what I could hear from the distance that I was standing, out of sight of the girl on the phone, the two of them were having a good laugh at our expense.

Very disappointing as all my previous visits to Germany when without issue and to be scammed by a fellow Irish person.

Amazing castle!!
Sep. 2019 • Solo
After buying the ticket I was informed that I have to collect the ticket from the agency’s office which is in a different town approximately 7km away from the castle between 8-9AM!! Since I stayed overnight in Rothenburg, I was late in getting my ticket and then had to rush over to the castle office where you are assigned a certain time for the indoor tour in English. Fortunately they were able to accommodate me and change time of my tour as it wasn’t very busy that day. That being said the castle itself is magical and highly recommended for anyone thinking about it. The indoor tour itself lasts approximately 30 minutes. The hike up to the castle from parking is approximately 45 minutes and not recommended for people not in shape to hike up the mountain. For 3€ one can buy round trip in the bus that will take 10-15 minutes to go up. I would not recommend to go on horse buggy as it takes a long time and to prevent animal abuse. Photography is not allowed inside the castle. For not giving full information about the ordeal one has to go through so one can plan in advance, I’m rating this seller average.

Sounds Great... Very Misleading, Got a Refund. Read before you buy!
Aug. 2019
This is a very poorly explained service and borders on bait/switch

Neuschwanstein works based on a time entry ticket system. The only way to buy tickets is to queue in line at the ticket office or use the ticket office’s online form. The online form needs to be completed at least 72 hours before your visit. Given we did not do this, we wanted a way to skip the line as we were driving down from Munich in the morning.

What this service is... This is a guy who owns or runs a hostile and goes and stands in line to buy tickets at a hugely inflated cost. The big problem is that once you purchase the tickets through TA, you get a voucher that says you need to try to pick up the tickets between 8:30am and 9:00am. If you are in the position to need to purchase this tickets, the timeframe probably defeats the whole purpose for buying. FYI, during the purchase process, there is no mention of this time window.

Also, in the fine print- you must pick up the tickets in town at the hostile, not at the ticket office.

We ended up walking up to the castle and getting some great pictures of the outside. You cannot take pictures inside the castle and it is a fairly quick tour anyway. Oh well!

If you want to make sure to get tickets with the time you want, use the online form from the official ticket office at least 72 hours before you go. In high season, you will need to request a time at least 2-3 weeks ahead of your scheduled visit.
