In the morning, we start our journey to the past through the Sumail Gap, which divides the Western and Easter Hajar Mountains. After this we head to the old capital of Oman, Nizwa, known for its silver Souq and the big round fort, built during the period of the Yoruba dynasty. After visiting the Souq and the Fort, Then we drive to BirkatAlMouz, a pretty oasis known for its sheer scenic value. Reach from there to the roof of Oman, the Saiq Plateau. A beautiful village which was only accessible by donkeys, for hundred of years. The view the over terraced gardens is very colorful. A variety of fruits like walnuts, pomegranates, apricot and lemon are grown here. There are many interesting walks in Wadi Bani Habib, Shrejaya and Aqur where the weather is cool and dry. Return to Muscat in the evening.

They timed our arrival perfectly, so that we were able to enjoy the desert at its very best, sunset. Our journey started with a visit to Wadi Bani Khalid, where we swam in the crystal-clear waters surrounded by breathtaking scenery. It was truly a highlight! Our group consisted of six people—three adults and three kids aged 10 to 14. We had a private car and driver just for us, which made the experience even more personal and enjoyable. Our driver was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. During the drive to the Wadi, he shared fascinating facts, cultural insights, and historical details about Oman, which made the trip even more enriching. Our second stop was in the desert, where we visited a Bedouin camp and had the chance to ride camels—a memorable experience for both kids and adults. Then came the most thrilling part of the day: dune bashing! Our driver skillfully navigated the towering sand dunes, giving us an adrenaline-pumping adventure that we will never forget. This trip was a perfect combination of natural beauty, cultural experiences, and excitement. We booked the Cool and Green Oman tour as a family of 4 and it was very nice. The landscapes in the Jebel Akhdar mountains were really impressive and beautiful and the food, at the restaurant where our guide took us, was excellent. The fort in Nizwa was very interesting to see, accompanied by a traditional local dance.
We would like to thank our very nice guide Mashari who explained to us about Oman’s country, his culture and the past history of this land.
It was a very nice and unique experience with Mashari. Thanks to his enthusiasm and his cheerful disposition, the kids were not bored during the tour and enjoyed it as much as we did!
We would definitely recommend this tour with Mashari, a local omani guide, who will get you to love the mountains even if it’s not as warm as the desert. 😉

My wife and I visited Muscat in early March 2023. Wabar tours was recommended to us by our hotel for day excursions. We booked a shared trip to the historic city of Nizwa and the nearby Jabel Akhder (the Green Mountain). Our guide and driver for the day was a local Omani called Sameer. We shared the tour with a lovely young lady from Montenegro.
Sameer was an excellent guide. He spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable about not only the main places, but also points of interest along the journey. He was very accommodating, with drink and toilet breaks when needed and took us to some excellent places for lunch. He paid special attention to our interests and made stops for especially for those.
Nizwa and the Jabel Akhder are definitely worth visiting and an expert guide like Sameer makes the trip much more fun and interesting.
Our group were so impressed, we immediately booked onto another excursion with Sameer for the following day to Wahiba Sands and Wadi Bani Khalid. We had another brilliant day.

This was a trip for just me and my wife, not shared with anyone else so the title is slightly misleading.
This was a full day trip out of Muscat to Nizwa and Jebal Akhdar and was a fabulous day, our guide was Mohammed AlShamli. Our itinerary prevented a stay in either Nizwa or on the Jebel but I would recommend that if possible.
The day was very well structured, long drives at the beginning and end are inevitable but our guide kept an excellent commentary up as we passed towns and sites en-route.
Nizwa was fabulous with a souk run by Omanis; we saw the fresh produce areas, the Halwa sweet production and sampling was fascinating. A walk through the other elements of the souk allowed us to view and buy (if we had wanted) all manner of local souvenirs.
We had plenty of time in the Fort and Castle with a very knowledgable guide able to provide more than the plaques on the doors could impart. Fascinating to look at the history os the town that was the de facto capital before Muscat.
Then came the trip up the mountain and to the Jebel.
We passed through the banana and date farms of Birkat AL Mous and a close look at the local farming systems.
The drive up the mountain was exhilarating and the roads would be challenging to the inexperienced; 4WD and power needed for the slopes, more so on the way back down. The visit to the town town and its farming terraces at 6500 ft AMSL is amazing. Our trip included a visit to a house restored to the old style with tiny rooms and a small rose water production area from the farmed area this family would have used. Very well laid out and presented.
Lunch was taken in a local restaurant, good choice of Arab dishes and not all typical so very enjoyable.
All in all another excellent day with Mohammed and we would certainly use them again when we return for our next visit.

Our guided tour of Muscat with Ghatrifi was an absolutely wonderful experience! Ghatrifi was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive to both me and my wife. He shared fascinating insights about the history, culture, and hidden gems of the city, making every stop on the tour memorable. The itinerary was well-organized, allowing us to explore iconic landmarks like the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque and the Royal Opera House while also discovering local markets and picturesque coastal views. Ghatrifi's passion for Muscat truly brought the city to life for us. We highly recommend him as a guide to anyone visiting Muscat—it’s the perfect way to immerse yourself in the beauty and charm of this amazing city!

We had a fantastic tour with our tour guide Mohammed—who was extremely kind and professional and took the time to explain in fascinating detail about our trip. His knowledge of Oman in general really helped add a nice personal touch. Highly recommend this tour, you’ll get to visit the souk which has fair prices of natural mountain goods and Omani sweets (tourists and locals pay the same prices) followed by a visit to the mountain, and ending with a delicious lunch.
I highly recommend Wabar tours who accommodated all our requests and were available at all hours of the day.

Started the day off with a warm greeting from the tour guide of the day, Saif Al Brashdi.
Great service, clean vehicle, and great sights visited.
I would recommend Saif Al Brashdi to be a tour guide for more trips to come as he rendered exceptional service.
In summary, my tour around Nizwa and Jaber Al Akdhar was great.

Great idea to combine historical city of Nizwa (once capital of Oman-interior) with its market (get there early on Friday to catch the animal market’s auction) and fort, breath-taking views of Jabel Akhder mountain top and green valley with historical falaj and palm tree farms in Barkat Moz!
Our guide was Sameer - very interesting facts about the sights we visited and fantastic views!
Strongly recommend this tour for those who don’t have much time to travel around Oman.

Nizwa and Green Mt. Trip was recomended to us by a couple on one of our earlier tours. Samir was our guide for this excursion. We had a great weather after a couple days of rains. Nizwa souq and fort were a great way to learn about Oman and its history. Nizwa souq is recently renovated and a great place to get dates, Omani halva and many other delicacies as well as large selection of handicrafts. We then went on to the Green Mt. and enjoyed cool temps at 2000+meters and amazing views of the plains below. It was followed by a delicious lunch at an Iranian restaurant - selection of grilled meats, rice with saffron and pomegranate, and vegetable curries. We then drove down to Nizwa and were shown UNESCO listed irrigation and water aqueduct system that dates back 2000 years! After a full day we drove back to Muscat. We enjoyed all the sights thanks to our guide Samir's knowledge. We highly recommend Samir as a guide and the Nizwa & Green Mt. Tour.

We spent a great day with Mohammed from WABAR TOURS. We first visited the souk of Nizwa and the fort of Nizwa and on the way there we drank Karak tea. Then came the spectacular drive up to Jabal Akhdar. Here we visited a local museum and also enjoyed a local lunch with a great view. It was very impressive and the day was a great experience.

Mr. Mohamed was our guide for the tour. He greeted us with a great smile, picked us up and shared detailed insights about the locations we were visiting. He also explained geological formations of the mountains in Oman and showed us the fossils on the mountains’ rocks. Nizwa fort was my favorite, I got to see the rooms of Imam’s and student rooms as well as the castle!!! We had enough time for lunch and the food was fantastic 😃
