Not a fan of churches or opera but the mosque and the opera are both worth a visit. Even though both are relatively new, the work done throughout is typical of the quality of the artisans of Oman. The mosque combines spectacular opulence with equality under God. The opera is full of technical wizardry to meet the highest standards of classical music.
Along the coast, we visited the suq, with the best part, the gold and silver traders tucked away at the back.
A highlight of the day was a swim in a wadi with a deep ravine on either side followed by a simple lunch date of grilled fish, rice, veg and unleavened bread.
Our guide was a gentle, well informed Omani who was essential for the outing.
As an introduction to the area, this tour did the job well.

This tour is a must do! Wadi Shab is simply breathtaking! The views, the water, the valley, such an amazing place. I’d encourage every person to visit Oman- Muscat outside your hotel, as Oman is a safe place and the roads are in her good condition, plus theres so much to see. The tour is just perfect if you are looking for a more private experience. Elias our tour guide was the best guide we’ve had in a trip. Punctual, polite, professional, very knowledgeable, Oman-native and just the nicest guy. A reflection of Omanian people, as they truly make you feel at home. We started the tour (very nice and safe vehicle) from Muscat and the views the whole way to Wadi Shab were breathtaking. After the Shab be grabbed lunch at a local place, food was delicious! (Must try the lemon mint lemonade), then we headed to the sinkhole were we took great pictures of this amazing place. Overall a must-do! I’d recommend to bring water shoes, try all food offered, and engage with Elias or your tour guide to learn about this great country and its people.

Perfection, picked up on time, stopped for coffee and had a great drive to Wadi Shab. Ilyas our guide was very attentive and great to your with. An added bonus is Ilyas is well travelled and we had a kiwi bond also.

The wadi was phenomenal especially as the van had water shoes onboard and we were easily able to buy a waterproof phone pouch. The walk is not hard and the swimming can be a managed with moderate ability. The water clarity is amazing and the whole experience was simply fantastic. Take lots of water and put on your sun screen.

Lunch at a nearby local restaurant was lovely.

A stop on the way home at the sinkhole completed a great day.

A fabulous day GidOman. Well done.

This was one of the most memorable tours that we have ever done. The booking process and contract up to the start of the tour was seamless. Our guide Ilyas was absolutely fantastic, he gave us an open an honest insight into Omani culture and history during the long drives, offered to take lots of pictures of us around the wadi and organised the most delicious lunch. We also had wet shoes offered to us which we definitely needed and would have struggled without.
We ended up booking additional transfers with GidOman to the mountains and additional other trips which were also excellent. Due to the bad weather we had to rearrange tours and transfers, which were handled most professionally. Can't recommend booking with them enough!

The best trip ever
Our guide ilya was an amazing guide very polite and entertaining helpful he supported us throughout the trip.
We started our hour drive to wadi shab around 9 am then a mini boat ride to the other side where the hike started
A scenic hike with a moderate trail that ended with a beautiful oasis .
Swimming in the oasis was another beautiful experience thankfully we had ilya with us throughout to guide us and give us tips with his help we entered the cave and enjoyed the whole hike .
Finished the hike and swim around 3 had lunch at a local restaurant and from there we went to the sinkhole which was a nice park with the possibility to take a dip in the water .
The trip home was smooth and fast .
Tips
Bring water shoes
Swimming clothes and towels
Snacks
Thanks again to ilya who made the trip more enjoyable

Our fablulous guide, Aziz, was the perfect host. He was courteous, informative and couldn't have been more helpful. He took us to Wadi Shab early so we were able to enjoy the experience almost alone! It was amazing and the water was so pure and clean and a delight to swim up to the waterfall. Definitely take river shoes - my husband didn't and Aziz was so mortified that he was planning to swim in his leather deck shoes that he took off his own and leant them to my husband to swim in! Bimmah Sinkhole was interesting and we also had a very good lunch and a fascinating trip around Muscat. Aziz speaks good English and we felt we had learnt a great deal about Muscat and the Omani way of life from him. Thoroughly recommended.

I very much recommend this tour. Our guide Ilyas was prompt, courteous, intelligent, and kind. He was a great conversationalist and imparted a lot of history and context of Oman throughout the day. On site at the wadi, he was with us every step of the way. He helped us and others navigate the terrain in and out of the water to ensure our safety.

The only two downsides were not getting to the sinkhole early enough for good foto lighting - you need to really push through the time at the wadi and lunch to make it to the sinkhole early enough. And lunch, although tasty, was a little heavy on rice and overcooked fish dishes (says the foodie).

Tip- be sure to ask for bottles of water when you make stops.

We truly enjoyed spending the day with Juma exploring the Wadi and the sinkhole. Juma is a great guide and host and we appreciated his company and passion about his homeland.
After 1.5 hrs ride we arrived to the the Wadi where Juma walked together with up to the pools where we had a refreshing and unforgettable swim! After the Wadi we went visiting the Bimmah sinkhole, about 20 minutes on the way back, where we could also swim and have some fun jumping from the cliffs. We than drove back to Muskat where we had a delicious dinner at a typical restaurant.
We had an amazing day and can only suggest to book this tour!

Hands down, this was our most favorite thing we did in Oman. First things first...our guide was Yusef and he was amazing. We liked him right away and enjoyed spending the day with him. He was funny and very open to share things about Omani life and culture. The hike up to the pools is not easy and my knees are really bad and had a hard time. Yusef was by my side helping the entire way and was very kind. The hike itself is beautiful and by nature of the difficulty in getting to them, the pools are not overcrowded. They are cool and clean and is just an amazing spot to be on the planet earth. We are so glad we went and feel fortunate we picked this company that has the wisdom to hire a guide like Yusef.

We had some stops along the way to and from wadi shab. First was the sinkhole. It is beautiful. The color of the water is a greenish blue. We didn’t swim as the water does not flow. Then we stopped at white beach to have a look around. It looks like a very nice swim/snorkel area. Wadi shab is fabulous. I’m guessing the walk is about 1.5 - 2 miles from shore to pool. Take frozen water if you go in August! Trust me. The cave was a close swim through the limestone. Waterfall was flowing nicely. If you are not a strong swimmer, take a life vest. There are very few shallow spots on the way and once you are at the cave, there are none. You can hold on to the rock formations, but it is very deep. Wear good gripping swim shoes as the rocks along the shab are covered in slick moss. We had a nice sack lunch provided for us in Tiwi. It is a beautiful town with many palm trees and extremely winding roads that can be steep. Great trip!
