- IanH5200 contributionsMuch more than we ever expectedThis was our first time in Oman, and we loved every minute of our adventure exploring coast desert and mountain on our 6 day tour. It will take a while to process all of the brilliant experiences we had. The incredible beauty of this country spans its amazing geography and geology. Its ancient history so beautifully restored, its delicious food influenced from the surrounding countries and beyond. And most of all the calm kind hospitality of the Omani people. We lucked out getting Adil as our wonderful, knowledgeable, patient and generous guide. We laughed and we learned. And we are left keen to come back to continue the adventure. Thank you Adil. Only tweak we would suggest would be to stay in central Nizwa rather than on the outskirts.Written 16 January 2025
- Benjamin M0 contributionsIncredible day trip from MuscatThis was the absolute best thing we did on our trip to Oman and UAE. Nizwa fort is amazing, and Jebel Shams was absolutely dizzying and breathtaking. Our guide, Khalid, was extremely kind, courteous, and pleasant over the long 11 hour trip, and we loved getting to know him. He was especially helpful in the Nizwa Souq, where he gave us a tour of various dates, spices, halva, saffron, honey, and more. Unlike other souqs we visited, the merchants were helpful and patient rather than pushy. If you're in Muscat, you have to get out of the city to see more of this beautiful country.Written 15 January 2025
- Z2439MXfrankp0 contributionsGreat Trip to Jebel ShamsSaid was a great guide and the trip to Jebel Shams and Nizwa was perfect. We couldn’t have been happier with the time in the Nizwa souq, visiting the mountain and talking with Said throughout the day. And you so much for the wonderful memories!Written 7 January 2025
- Iriana I0 contributionsGreat private tour in OmanJihad our tour guide was lovely and patient. Gave us great museum suggestions for kids. Took us for Halwa (Omani sweets) and we stopped for shawarma while at the souk. Jihad gave us tips on what's considered a reasonably priced things and what isn't just to put things in context. Grand mosque was stunning even in moonlight. We didn't make it for visitor times 8-11 but we still get to experience the mosque.Written 14 December 2024

- laurarP4026TV0 contributionsUnforgettable tour with amazing tour guide! Our trip to Wahiba Desert and Wadi Bani Khalid was an incredible experience, thanks to our amazing guide, Jihad, who went above and beyond to make our day unforgettable. From the start, Jihad’s professionalism and warm personality set the tone. His deep knowledge of the region, its culture, and his genuine passion for sharing Oman’s beauty made the journey exceptional. In the Wahiba Desert, he guided us to stunning photo spots, a local Bedouin house for tea, and shared fascinating stories. At Wadi Bani Khalid, Jihad showed us the best swimming spots and hidden gems in this oasis paradise. His attention to detail—ensuring we were comfortable, hydrated, and capturing perfect photos—made all the difference. If you want a mix of stunning landscapes, adventure, and cultural immersion, this is it. With Jihad as your guide, you’re guaranteed an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!Written 26 November 2024

- T252JCchris0 contributionsThe perfect weekend in Oman.We went as a group of friends as a little celebration and wanted to experience some thing a bit unique. Had a great drive through the mountains which were spectacular. Detour to the Wadi Dayqah Dam was beautiful. Highlights were sighting turtles at Ras Al Jinz and an unforgettable swim in Wasi Shab: do get to the cave at the end as it is spectacular. Khalil was a great guide who solved our problems: big and small. We had a fantastic time.Written 27 October 2024
- 514chiaw0 contributions2 days in lovely Omanwas led by Khalil on a private tour with a customized itinerary that included Wadi Dayqah, a local sink hole, nighttime turtle sightings, a local watchtower and Wadi Shah, complete with local food tastings. our vehicle had a tire rupture which took some time to remedy but we were able to witness Khalil's tenacity and the kindness of the Omani where a random driver pulled over to pass us his air pump and help. all in all a wonderful experience.Written 27 October 2024

We sincerely thank Oman Day Tours for organizing the tour around the country. The excellent work of all 3 guides - drivers, comfortable cars, well-planned excursions left a very good impression of Oman, its tourist attractions, nature and hospitable people. I especially want to thank the guide Nasser. Our group of 13 persons from Lithuania enjoyed his work, knowledge and communication.

We visited Oman mid of December 2018 and booked our 5 day tour with Oman Day Tours via Internet from home. The communication was very quick, efficient and friendly all the time. Also payments were handled absolutely correct and we no problems.
Everything was organized perfectly and our guide Abdul Rahman was absolutely the best we could get. We felt very safe and secure all the time. He is a cautious driver and has lot’s of knowledge of the country, his history and famous sites. We felt like travelling with a good friend all the time.
We can for sure recommend them and we are looking forward to come back one day.

We were picked up at our hotel in Muscat at 08.00 am by our guide Khalid in a spacious 4x4 car (we were the only guests). We then drove to a sinkhole and further to Wadi Shab. There we did a short 45min hike with Khalid to the first pool and then walked further into the Wadi by ourselves. Although it was quite busy at the wadi, the experience was still great! After that we drove to our first hotek, the turtle beach resort. The resort has a nice beach and the dinner there was great. At around 09:00 pm we visited the turtle sanctuary in Ras al Jinz where we saw one giant mother turtle and two baby turtles. Amazing!
The next day we quickly stopped at a dhow factory in Sur and the continued to Wadi Bani Khalid. Again, after a small hike, we went swimming in the Wadi. The Wadi was also a little bit crowded but we still had a great time. In the afternoon we drove to our next hotel which was the oryx dessert resort. We drove with our 4x4 car on a dune next to the resort and watched the dessert sunset which was amazing. The food at the resort was also amazing. Please note that an extensive 4x4 “dune blasting” car ride is not included in the package but can be booked at the resort. However, Khalid was so nice to drive a little bit off road on the way to the resort. Thanks for that!
The next day we stopped at various ancient cities and visited several irrigation systems, some of them hundreds of years old. This shows you how the Omani people were able to grow vegetable and fruits in apparently dry regions. On that day we headed towards Nizwa were we arrived in the early afternoon. Since there were no more activities planed on that day, we walked to the city center (4km, Khalid offered to drive us!) and explored the old city of Nizwa ourselves. Dinners not included in Nizwa, so we found ourselves a nice Shawarma place.
The next day was a Friday and we headed early for the cattle market in Nizwa. We recommend, that you plan your tour to be in Nizwa on a Friday. The cattle market is really something to see! After visiting the Souq for some shopping and the amazing Nizwa fort we headed for our final stay at the Jabal Shams Resort. The views of the “great canyon of Arabia” on the way and around the resort were amazing. We took many great pictures the cliff of the canyon. Please note that we arrived there in the early afternoon and that there was not much time to do extensive hiking around the canyon. There is a hiking trail near the resort, but you should inform the touring company in advance if you want to do more hiking. Again, the views on Jabal Shams and the canyon were amazing.
After the breakfast and two short stops we drove back to Muskat where we arrived in the early afternoon. All in all, we had a great tour! The hotels and the resorts were all nice and so was the food. However, it was our guide Khalid who made the tour especially great! Firstly, he spoke very good English, he was very kind and polite, and he had great knowledge on the sights we visited and the history of Oman. We had many great conversations. Secondly, he is a very calm and safe and driver, which is also a good thing. We would definitely recommend this tour, since you see many things in a short period of time, and you don’t have worry about any organizing or booking. A local guide and be driven around also adds safety and comfort. I also think that the price is fair.
In a nutshell: Great tour and great guide – would do it again!
