Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have just returned from a visit to Stamford and were incredibly fortunate to attend a walking tour of the town with Nicola. Such a pretty town not overly touristy and Nicola was awash with interesting facts, not only about the buildings but the history of Stamford’s rise and fall with lots of anecdotes thrown in. Cannot recommend Nicola highly enough and despite the rain making an appearance later on it did not dampen our experience.

We were in Stamford for a day trip. Rather than simply wander the town, it made sense to hear about it from someone who could tell us about what we were looking at.
When the 2:00 start time arrived we were the only people on the walk. Our guide Jim was knowledgeable and entertaining. He appeared to know something about every building and clearly enjoyed talking about the town. I did wonder if £8 per person for a 90 minute walk would be worth it. It certainly was with Jim.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour guided by Nicola starting outside the Town Hall. She imparts her knowledge and passion for this beautiful town in a well paced, clear and easy to picture style. We would thoroughly recommend this tour if you love your history along with beautiful architecture and to understand how this gem of a town was born.

Our guide, Nicola, was amazing and brought the history of the town to life. The walk is fairly easy as the town is not that big. We viewed the story of the town through its buildings, including some that I wasn’t aware of. It was a lovely way to spend 90 minutes and I would highly recommend it.

We did a Spooky Tales (child friendly) walk for Hallowe'en and it was brilliant! "Cassandra" our ghost tour guide was amazing - in character the whole time and full of interesting - and spooky - facts and information about Stamford. It was a really atmospheric walk especially as it was getting dark as we walked around. It was perfectly pitched for the age group and my children loved it. We would have happily carried on for another few hours! I would highly recommend, and have come away feeling very inspired both by Stamford, and our tour guide.

This was a brilliant tour led by your guide Simon ( on his birthday ! )
He was engaging , amusing and full of enthusiasm about the buildings and history of Stamford. It was also really interesting to learn the origins of many of our English sayings which Simon referenced as we shown around .
I have lived near Stamford all my life and visited many times . It was really good to stop and view buildings that we would normally walk past or not realise their historical importance and to hear about the people who had been influential in its history . Top marks ! Would highly recommend .

We booked a group tour as part of a birthday party and it was fabulous! Informative, funny, manageable for those less “good on their feet” and we heard so much about places I’d never even thought to look, despite having lived in the town most of my life-like the Tesco car park!
Booking for a group was very straightforward and Nicola was kind enough to cover a wide variety of information to suit our 30ish guests.
Cannot recommend highly enough!

We spent an afternoon on a guided walking tour of Stamford with Kiffy and it was an afternoon well spent in a beautiful setting. Kiffy was very knowledgeable on the history of the town and its importance on the trading routes. Historical buildings, facts and figures were all covered during the walk and at no time did Kiffy make us feel rushed. We would highly recommend this tour and, if you are lucky enough to have Kiffy as your guide, you will be all the more knowledgeable for it.

If you are visiting Stamford or you even live there, we fully recommend under taking a tour. We visited for the weekend and it was a great start to a wonderful weekend in the town. Our guide, Jim Grant, was incredibly knowledgeable, happy to answer any questions and had a great sense of humour.
He was a great guide. There’s so much history in the town that next time we visit, we will definitely do another tour for sure.
Jim’s pub tour of Stamford, the 7th Oct 22 is a must not miss if you can make it.

There are plenty of town car parks but the nearest to starting point can be found by turning down Station Road by The George hotel. It’s called Cattlemarket Car park.
