    Great experience
We, family of four with children aged 10 and 15, all really enjoyed the zip line. Fantastic view of the city and mountain whilst zip lining along. Booked online beforehand, there is a signpost of where to go once at the top of Ulriken. You can either take your backpack with you or leave it at the start. Took mine with me with no issues. The hike back up to the start took around 10 mins and was muddy and slippy in places.

    A disappointing experience
My teens were really excited about this experience -- The Last Viking Escape Game -- because they love Escape Rooms. But it ended up being a disappointment. It started with confusion about how to begin the game. Turns out we were never sent a critical email with instructions, only an email with a 'meeting point' that was in front of a travel agency that had no idea what we were talking about. We finally found a phone number to call and get help. 45 minutes later we were able to begin the game. They had hoped it would be some sort of geocaching treasure hunt. Instead they walked around 'in circles' until the app/smartphone recognized that they were in a specific location and would then reveal the next question on the screen -- questions that were not very challenging, and sometimes didn't make sense or were wrong. One question asked "Where is the home of the gods?" Some of the choices were Asgard, Ragnarok, etc. They chose 'Asgard', but were told they were wrong and that the answer was Ragnarok. (A later question said, "What did the Vikings believe was the end of the world?" and the correct answer was Ragnarok). Overall it was underwhelming and a waste of time. It could be a lot of fun and a really great idea, especially if it incorporated some geocaching and perhaps some history of the area.

    60mph Mountain Rush
10/10 would recommend! Allegedly at 60mph, Mt. Ulriken's zipline is the fastest in Norway. You're 65ft/20m off the mountainside whizzing past the scenery for about 30 seconds 🤩 My boyfriend was too heavy to safely participate: can't weigh more than 220lbs/100kg. But he was able to hike down below the line and get a great video and stills(attached). There is quite a hike back up, so be prepared as there's only a minimal trail. Victoria was our guide and she was fantastic! Very knowledgeable and funny 😁

    Great experience
Friendly instructors who made sure we were all very safe. Be prepared for a jolt when you get to the end, wasn’t as bad as I was expecting, though. Shame it wasn’t longer to be honest! I found it a bit difficult to find where to go - basically follow the sign down the back of the restaurant, past the water fountain and turn left at the end. The walk back up from the end of the zip line is very wet and slippery so where appropriate shoes

    Mt. Ulriken Zipline Tour
Staff was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. We felt very safe using the zipline equipment. The view form the zipline area were fabulous. We would certainly come back.

Little information online but an awesome Zipline experience!
I ordered online and got little to no information! nr 1: where the meeting point was. The staff at the restaurant on top of Mount Ulriken had no clue there even was a zip line there so I ended up asking the locals, that pointed me in somewhat right direction. Took me and my friend 20 minutes in total to find it. (find the restrooms under the restaurant and walk past them on the pavement, take a left turn and then walk over the cliffs on the left and you are there) nr 2: If I had to buy a single ticket or returning ticket taking the train up the mountain. You can of course walk up and down. (buy returning, you can also buy tickets at the bottom and on top of the mountain). nr 3: If it would be possible to either store our bags somewhere or take them with us. (You can leave your bags at the starting point and since you have to walk back with the helmet and equipment, you'll end up there again and can pick up your belongings) The zip line itself was fun, will totally recommend! Great staff member on both ends. Goes fast! Beautiful scenery.

    Something different
The zip wire isn’t too long or too scary. I’d say it’s a really fun thing to do if you are planning on going up Mt Ulriken but not worth making a specific trip to do. It was perfect for us, we walked up, did the Zipwire and then go the cable car down. A great way to spend a morning. Organisation and safety all good.

    Great biking experience
The employee was extremely friendly. We met her the day before and she gave us very valuable advice. The bikes were very nice quality and their own app suggests some routes. She also gave us great recommendations for what else to check out in Bergen. Great experience!

Food and Culture Walk in Bergen
We were visiting as a family and scheduled a food and culture walk. As others have mentioned, we wish we'd done this the very first thing, since we had such a fantastic guide who told us about the city, its history, and about contemporary culture in Bergen and around Norway. Our walk was well paced for a family group (short distances with stops where some could sit down) and we enjoyed the food (snacks at the beginning and sit-down places with a substantial soup and drinks at one, sweets at another, and more drinks at a third) quite a lot. We also got a thorough tour of the historic trading quarter of Bergen. However, the best thing about it was our guide, Victoria. She was so knowledgable and enthusiastic, fully of great stories and happy to respond to all our questions.

Great place to hire a bike. Friendly staff
Hired bikes for the day online before we arrived. Got brand new bikes from a really helpful chap. Also got their app with lots of suggested tours around Bergen which really helped. Open until 7pm so didn't have to give up the bikes too early. Also got helmets and locks. Would recommend.

    Food and Culture Guided Walk
This is a must for first time visitors to Bergen. We wished we had done this tour at the beginning of our stay in Bergen as we learnt so much about the city and what it has to offer. A wonderful educational experience with a fantastic guide.

E-bike rental perfect way to spend some hours
We came to the city of Bergen early afternoon without any plans what to do. We decided to go up the mountain with the famous Floibanen but the ticket line was endless. We decided to walk around and see what comes our way. Accidentally we found this place and started talking with a nice young lady. Through her we got the idea to go up the mountain with e-bikes. So we did and I believe it was a much better way then going with Floibanen. We could stop wherever we wanted, take in different views and riding through endless rows of old wooden houses. The e-bikes were great and it was so much fun! There is many different ways to go up and down. Forest trails or perfect asphalt. We went up the forest trail and down the asphalt way. No problem for the bikes. No need to stand in any line wasting time. This was a perfect thing to do when having just a few hours. Thank you Base Camp Bergen for such a kind and helpful service and advice. We will be back, and then we do the zip line!

The food and Culture walk was the first thing we did after arriving in Bergen, and we are so glad we did it! Our guide was very informative and fun as she walked us through the city, sharing interesting facts and stories about Norway's culture and history as we ate and drank delicious samples at various stops.

If you're thinking about visiting Bergen, make sure to add this to your itinerary!

Out tour guide, Nina, was great. She spoke wonderful English and was full of stories and had (most) of the answers to our questions. I leaned a lot about Scandinavian history and the history of Bergen. We walked all over and through some little neighborhoods and really got a feel for the place as locals. The reason why I gave an average rating is because this was supposed to be a food and and walking tour and the food was just- missing. We did eat. Started with a fish cake. It was kind of greasy and slimy and oddly good at the same time. Then we had a *bite* of a cinnamon roll and brown cheese My husbands fell on the ground and there was no extra, sorry about your luck. Next we had the tiniest flake of dried fish. Now, granted, it tasted like salty sawdust, I still wold have liked a bit more to try what Bergen is all about. Off to an old establishment for soup that was ok. Then for some apple cider at a bakery
( I bought buy own baked goods to eat) then a beer and some stories at a bar.
Overall, it was just average. I have been on 20+ food tours so I have something to compare it to and I have never left one hungry before. The price that you pay you expect to sit and eat more food, not walk and nibble.

Hi Stargaze Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with Nina, and that you learned a lot about our history and culture. When it comes to the food, our tour is considered as a lunch, and we are sorry to hear that you did not find this sufficient. Regarding your husbands cinnamon roll that ended up on the ground, we are sorry he did not get a new one, which is the standard if things like that happens. We will bring your review with us in our continued work to offer a tour that our guest will enjoy to the fullest. We hope you left Bergen with a lifetime of memories. Great way to spend mid day in Bergen. Our tour guide was informative and supplied us with a great historical background of the area. I especially enjoyed visiting the local neighborhoods and having lunch at a local restaurant where you would probably never see a tourist. If we have the opportunity when visiting the city, I would definitely add this to your itineraries as mentioned before our tour guide was amazing and we would definitely do it again with her if we’re in town.

It was an amazing experience! Our guides were very friendly and told us great historical and personal stories about the city. The food was also very good and typical from Bergen. We had a fishcake, skillingsboller, meat soup, liquid apple cake and a beer. I would absolutely recommend this tour when you want to experience Bergen in another way!

Hi Adrian Thank you for your review and for recommending it to others! We are so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the food and stories. We aim to give some interesting stories distributed over the almost 1000 year of Bergen history. Some old, some more recent, some fun and some serious facts. We hope that the food gave you an interesting addition to the stories, and also gave you an insight to our extended food culture. The "liquid applecake" is also fantastic as a treat for Christmas. We hope you left Bergen with a liftetime of memories. Best wishes for all your outdoor experiences to come Bergen Base Camp crew

Our family enjoyed the food and culture walk in Bergen with our guide, MaryAnn. It was a perfect combination of tasty food, walking and getting to know the town, and talking with our guide and group. MaryAnn had so many interesting stories and insights to share.

We started at the Fish Market with fish cakes and then cinnamon buns with the local brown cheese. We continued our tour along the harbor learning some of Bergen’s history. Then we sampled the dried cod. Next we explored some of the streets away from the harbor and enjoyed a sit-down lunch at a restaurant that is enjoyed by the locals. We continued our meander through the streets of town and then enjoyed a stop for coffee or “liquid apple pie.” Our walk concluded with a visit to an old pub for a beer and some very interesting stories from history.
We highly recommend this excursion!

Hi hdh1203 Thank you for your review, and for recommending it. The calm walk through the city streets while hearing history and tasting local food, is how we look at it, the right way to do it. We want our guest to be able to absorb both the stories and the view of streets, buildings and sorroundings, and to do so, a slow pace are essential. Our guide is herself a local and the extra level of insight this offers, we hope our guests appreciate. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the food and culture walk, and hope you left Bergen with a lifetime of memories. Best wishes for all your outdoor adventures to come. Bergen Base Camp crew

If you are a foodie looking for a food tour, this isn’t it. Our guide was perfectly nice and had lots of stories to tell about the Hanseatic history of Bergen. There were also snacks- a fish cake, cinnamon bun, brunøst (brown cheese), a bowl of soup, warm apple juice, beer- but we came away not having learned anything about the food or culture of Bergen. The pork and lamb soup, at a restaurant that used to be a public bath, was an especially odd part of the tour.) If you are really interested in Norwegian or Bergen food and food culture, this is not the tour you want.

Hi MEMworldwide Thank you for your review. You are correct that this is not (only) a food tour. Our food and culture walk i a mix between history, culture and food, where we share from both the citys long history and also from some of our rich food culture. Also - we hope that the focus on making it "behind the beaten track", made you experience not only the historic, but also the authentic Bergen. We are sorry to hear that the food on the tour was not to your expectation, but we hope that walking the narrow streets, and having views over the city together with your guide - made for some good memories. As locals- our guides have a special insight to "everyday" life in modern Bergen, good insight to different historic sides of our city, as well as knowledge of the best sites and streets to visit. We hope the stay in Bergen was lovely and that you have a lifetime of memories from you visit here. Best wishes for all your future outdoor adventures to come. Bergen Base Camp crew.

Our guide was excellent and this review is not a reflection of her.
The tour is a food and culture tour and the picture was of the fish market.
Unfortunately we didn’t tour the fish market which is what I had hoped to do.
In the beginning we were given two Norwegian snacks and part way through our
walk of Bergen, we stopped at a restaurant for soup.

Hi mcoe056 Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your time with our guide. Our food and culture walk starts at the fishmarket and walk through on the way towards the Hanseatic Warf. As you point out, the tour does not include a tour of the fishmarket with stops to buy or interact with the vendors, and we are sorry if you missed that as an option. We hope the tour in total was to your liking and that you learned interesting things about Bergen and its long history. We also hope you left Bergen and Norway with a lot of lovely memories. Visiting from Australia we did the food and cultural walk with our guide, Mary-Anne .

It was perfect with great information being given by a passionate local.

3 hours wandering the streets, tasting local dishes (and a beer) and hearing all about Bergen in particular and Norway in general.

Very highly recommended.

The tour was so different from other tours like this in other cities. The first half was standing around for long periods of time listening to a history lecture from a guy who knew English well but had no fluency. It was hard to follow the story with his halting English. At one point we stood for 20 plus minutes to listen in a dark cool hallway. Why look at beautiful views when they might distract you from the history lecture? We were given some local food but literally started the tour standing next to the fishmarket, and he never once mentioned anything about it. The second half was better after we stopped for meat soup at a local restaurant. We walked through some cool neighborhoods and got some good pictures. It ended with a small beer in an old pub with a drawn out historical story.
If you’re expecting a food tour where you go to 4 or 5 local restaurants with short stops to point out the attractions and lots of food and culture content while you eat, this is not that.

Hi 554betsyk Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed with our tour. Our tour is a walking tour, and there is - as you mention- periods of standing as the guide shares. Sometimes standing in the hallways at the Hanseatic Warf can protect from the famous Bergen weather, but also it is a part of the tour and gives an insight into the building technique and history of the buildings. As you mentioned, this is not a tour with many stops at local restaurants, and this might separate us from other tours in other countries. We like to do thing differently in Bergen. This tour focuses on visiting the oldest parts of the city and showing our guest the beautiful narrow streets and views, together with tastes of local and traditional food. We appreciate your comments and we will keep them in mind as we review the season later this year. We hope you had a great time in Bergen. Best wishes for all your future adventures to come. Had a great time walking the streets of Bergen with our very informative guide. Visited many areas we would not have found alone and learnt so much about the rich history of Norway. 10/10 would recommend this tour at the start of any trip to Bergen.
