We only had a few hours in Oslo before our flight back to South Africa, this was an excellent way to see the city. We flew in from Bergen after our Hurtigruten cruise, checked our luggage in and hopped on a train to Oslo Central to get the hop on hop off bus. unfortunately no hopping off for us but we enjoyed the drive around. The tour recording was interesting, informative and clear. It was the first time we learnt about "The Scream" painting that we had been seeing all over Norway :-)There were parts of the tour that was very bumpy, seems there is alot of contruction happening in the city but apart from that we had no complaints.

One of the best HOHO tours I have been on. There was so much to see and do that I needed more time. Several museums and interests points along the way. We stopped at Frogens Park/Vigeland Sculptures, the Viking Ship Museum, Karl Johans Gate, and the Oslo Opera House. Warning: On the brochure where it says “last” for the time-that is when they stop 🛑 It’s not the last time to get on. We were all booted off the bus but fortunately we were only a 20
minute walk from the port. The walk back was actually nice and thankful we were not further out at the time.

The bus leaves by the national theatre every 30 mins. Go on the upper deck as the views are very restricted down stairs. We got off at the viking museum, which is very good. If you get back on go to the kon-tiki museum plus 2 other museums there. if the bus wait is too long its only a 15 min walk. We got back in bus after kon-tiki and did the rest of the tour which lasts about another hour.

The buses are clean, bus drivers helpful, signs very well marked. Sound for commentary good. Better than taking a tour off the cruise ship

The reason for giving one star is that I have been on many city sightseeing tours in many countries and many cities. Every single other city was a 5 star experience. This one left a lot to be desired.
Buses late and unnecessary long stops on your travel that aren’t even communicated. Just stuck on a bus watching the driver walk away looking at 2 cell phones without any notification on how long he would be gone.
12 minutes later he returned and back on the bus, again without any communication. Just not the same service I have been given with this company. All the drivers seem incredibly disinterested. Terrible representation of the company as a whole.
If this was my first impression of city sightseeing, I would never use the company again.

Although Oslo is a nice city and there are plenty of attractions to keep you busy I would not recommend using the hop on hop off bus tour. The busses are unreliable. When we first arrived 3 busses went by (all full) so we had to wait much longer than anticipated to get on to begin with. Then later in the day we walked from one attraction to the next because we had no idea when the next bus was due as there is no indication of times. There are no queuing systems and with people to desperate to get to the next attraction people were crushing onto the bus with some standing in the aisles. The bus drivers were not overly friendly and barely looked at you never mind check if there were too many people on the bus. And there were a couple of points where (if you were upstairs) the bus felt it was a bit rocky and you needed to watch you don't get hit in the face with a branch. A better option would be to get the oslo card which gives you unlimited transport around the city and entry to the museums.

In fairness, the company was not helped by the masses of road and building work. At times we were not on the proper route looking at things of no interest. The busses are not frequent enough and there were quite a few busses standing idle, when we waited ages for a bus at one stop, which was crowded when it arrived. It then tried to make up lost time and was more of an express bus than a tour bus.
Get a map, walk to all the main attractions in the central area, then catch a normal bus to the area with all of the maritime museums (no 30), and visit the museums. Much better.

Over the years we have been fortunate to visit many European Cities and when there is a Hop On Hop Off tour bus service, we normally make that our first port of call, it enables us to get familiar with the layour of the place we"re visiting.
How disappointed we're with the Oslo, Norway Hop On Off bus, they only have a bus every 30 minutes, running at least 10-15 minutes late and the buses are so full they can't take anyone else. Do yourself a favor, spend $34 US for a couple and get a full day multi bus / train public ticket, rather than $80 US for the Hop On Hop Off Bus.
After getting off at stop 4 to visit "Vigelands Park" we waited nearly an hour in the rain, without any shelters to get a completely full bus of people, about 25 passengers at the stop missed out from getting on.
After visiting the 'Viking Ship Museum" at stop 7, we again wasted 45 minutes for the next bus. Once on board I enquired with a limited English speaking driver, what time is the last bus? His reply was the next one is 5 pm, so armed with that knowledge we proceeded to stop 8 to visit the "Fram Museum".
We made sure we got back to bus stop at 4.45pm to get the next bus, 5.00 pm, 5.30 pm came and still no bus arrived. By this time, there was 20 angry people at stop 8, waiting for the next bus.
At this point I opening the brochure and under schedule, it states, departures every 30 minutes and 'First 09:30 Last: 16:00"--- So the driver clearly doesn't know his schedule and incorrectly advised us, equally, I blame myself for not checking the times. It's absolutely ridiculous, that the bus stops at 4:00pm when most tourists site close at 5:00 pm
Irrespective of that and after struggling to get on and off full buses all day and now stranded at stop 8, the only alternative to get back to our hotel was to catch a public bus back to the centre of Oslo. But which bus? We didn't have a clue,
Anyhow, we got on the first public bus that arrived and paid $14 US for a couple and hoped for the best, finally we noticed the only english words we could understand appear on the screen, " National Theatre" and knew that was somewhere near our hotel.
The Hop on Hop Off Bus is too expensive, slow and a waste of time - Equally, they've now lost 'loyal customers' who will not automatically rush into using their service in other countries we plan to visit.

Most cities with a hop on hop off bus have multiple buses running at the same time so the wait for one should only be a few minutes. We waited 30 minutes outside the cathedral and then had to chase the bus down because there’s no clear pick up spot around the attraction. It was over a block away and down a street. Then we got stuck waiting at the ship terminal for another 20+ minutes. Do yourself a favor and either walk Oslo or take the city bus. This is a rip off and I wish I could get my money back.

As part of our cruise, we stop 5 hours in Oslo and bought HOHO assuming would be a food deal to get to know all interest points..., wrong. First we stopped more than 20 min at first stop, when asked to the driver, he got nasty and responded that they told us this was going to be like that, wrong again. We decided to stop at the sculpture park and when trying to get back on the bus, we had to take a cab after waiting more than 45 minutes! When back at the terminal, the same driver told us that we were lying and that wont be possible, and the representative of the company was overcommed by this terrible driver..., so no money back, wasted more than an hour waiting for the bus, treated like dirt and spent more money on a taxi, the worst thing, we were not able to see the rest of Oslo because of this company..., NEVER TAKE THIS SERVICE when in Oslo...

My cruise ship is docked in Oslo from 7am - 2pm.
Is the first bus at 10am and not earlier?
Do these buses run less frequently on a Sunday?

You haven't too much time ashore so I'd just go with a quick full tour than decide which stop if any you want to get off and visit second time around. I believe 10:00 is the start time as the majority of attractions wouldn't be open before then.

I couldn’t find it either. You will need to ask for a map when you get to Oslo and visit one of the sales representatives along the route. I got one from the city stop the day we arrived and before we actually bought a ticket. It takes you to all the tourist “must see” places.
We are looking to come on the 28th jan is the bus hop on hop off tour running then please?
