Seeing Orcas and Humpacks was a joy!
We were very lucky to get a last minute booking on the Brim Explorer! That day there were 4 boats going out so we had to figure out the one we were on. The boat was full to capacity, and it would have been nice for some of the people who got the middle aisle seats to get tables as it is a long journey. The guide was very knowledgeable and I learnt alot about the whales and history! Did you know that corsets used to be made with whale bone? We finally got to where we would see the whales, and we were so lucky! We saw so many Orcas, and humpbacks! The deck goes get quite cold so do ensure you dress quite warm! What a great, less intrusive experience!

      A wonderful evening 💚
Absolutely wonderful experience, the crew went out of their way to ensure that my dietary needs were catered to and that we were all happy and comfortable, you couldn’t ask for a more caring staff. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere on board was fantastic, and after days of bad luck with the weather the crew alerted us to go outside as we had a glimpse of the northern lights! Such a beautiful and memorable experience! Thank you kindly to the Brim explorer team, 10/10 💚

      Unforgettable Encounters with Nature
Our silent whale-watching tour was an absolutely magical experience—a true dream come true! We were lucky enough to see majestic humpback whales and an unforgettable pack of orcas. The orcas came so close to our boat and treated us to a breathtaking, showstopping display that we’ll never forget. What made the experience even more special was how respectful the entire tour was of the animals’ well-being. The silent motor and the guides' careful approach ensured we didn’t disturb these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat, which we deeply appreciated. Maria and Tobias, our tour guides, were fantastic—professional, kind, and endlessly knowledgeable. Their engaging mini-lectures throughout the journey gave us fascinating insights into the lives of these marine animals and the ecosystem they call home. They answered every question with enthusiasm and made sure everyone felt involved. This experience was an unforgettable journey. We would recommend it to anyone looking for a responsible and awe-inspiring way to connect with marine wildlife!

      Excellent trip
We had an amazing time. We saw numerous Humpbacks and a pod of Orcas. We even saw the northern lights on the way back. The scenery was also breathtaking. It’s a long day with journey there and back, but the crew did presentations and made it interesting. Thank you to the crew, they were really friendly and made it a lovely experience. I’m so grateful to have experienced this.

      Good experience!
Globally a nice adventure. Just a bit a shame we need to travel that much (>3h boat) for short time with the whales (30min-1h only). Did not get to see orcas today unfortunately. Ship is quite big but come in advance, you might not have a comfortable place otherwise. Personal on board was amazing, very nice and clearly explaining! Take some food with you.

Great Experience, with Passionate & Knowledgeable Guides
Great experience, the guides were nice, knowledgeable, and you can tell that they are very passionate about what they do to educate the people. The activity is long but worth it, I do suggest you take nausea medication as the waters can be tricky, and also something to keep you warm during winter months as you will be spending time outside the ship often to see and take in the sights. They have a small cafe onsite where you can buy food while on the trip, their cinnamon buns are very good!

      A great day out
Good day out. Friendly staff, clean boat. Good information provided about the area and wildlife. We were lucky to see several humpback whales and some orcas too. Outside on deck was freezing so suitable clothing is a must. Food and drinks, free refill coffee too, sold in the bar but we took a packed lunch. We were lucky to see some northern lights on the way back which topped a great day out.

      Staff and boat was nice
To be fair to the trip there was a snow storm which meant visibility was poor, so consider this when reading my review. However I was made aware that coach trips to see the northern lights offered a refund before getting on the coach on the basis that there was zero chance of seeing anything, which people accepted and were happy with the honesty. The crew did say they hoped we had our expectations set as low due to the weather. The staff were all very friendly and presented many facts about the local area and northern lights, we can't fault the staff. The boat was nice and warm, the toilets clean and plenty of seating. There is a bar on board which was needed Overall we were bored, three hours of boredom to be precise. I am sure if you knew you had a hope of seeing something it would be fun waiting but the fact we were told getting on that there was no chance it was just boring. There was no offer either of coming back another day for free. I know there is no guarantee however they should of offered the option of a refund up front and leave it to the individual choice To be clear the staff and boat are very nice - its the policy of the trip I didn't like If the weather is ok then book this trip

Great made better by fantastic staff
Friendly and knowledgeable staff who gave information throughout the day. Saw many killer whales and humpback whales once we were in the correct place. Plenty of time and opportunities for sightings and photos. They didn't rush us away although time was getting on. The day was fantastic and well worth going.

Incredible Whale Watching Experience with an Outstanding Crew
Our whale-watching tour was absolutely unforgettable, thanks to the incredible work of the entire boat crew. From the captain’s skillful navigation to the attentive and friendly staff, every detail was handled with care and professionalism. A special highlight was the Australian marine biologist on board, whose engaging lecture about whales and orcas made the evening truly special. His passion and knowledge brought the experience to life and deepened our appreciation for these magnificent creatures. We saw plenty of wildlife and felt safe and comfortable throughout the journey. This tour is a must for anyone visiting Tromsø—highly recommended!

      Amazing day, amazing staff.
Went on the whale watching tour today with my daughter. All the staff were amazing and well informed. Prices for food and drink on board very reasonable. We saw some humpbacks and a small pod of orcas who came so close to the boat and did some spyspotting! Amazing day and can't thank you enough! You enabled my daughters childhood dream to come true!

      Whales and Northern Lights
The trip was long but there are plenty of talks from the guides during the journey to provide information on whales and Norway. We saw lots of Orcas and Humpback whales and also the Northern Lights on the return journey. The trip was worth it for the experience

      Magnificent!
Great experience! The boat has enough comfort, great pastries, a kind and enthousiastic crew and above all 3 decks and a lot of windows (which they cleaned when it got frozen). The company also cares about the whales: they follow a code of conduct to make sure the whales don't get disturbed too much

      Silent Whale watching with Brim
An absolutely stunning trip, from beginning to end it exceeded expectations. The wonderful staff - Tobias, Maria & Francesca welcomed us on board in the most professional & friendly way. It was -11 outside but inside the super comfortable boat it was cosy & warm. All through the trip Tobias kept us informed about the Whales, the location, the route. and the effects of the changing climate on the marine life. We had excellent luck with several up close views of Humpback’s as well as a pod of Orcas cresting alongside. It was magical to see and hear so many whales. To top the trip we were treated to a stunning Northern Lights display on the way back. Altogether i cannot recommend Brim Explorers and their excellent staff.

We took the Arctic Fjord Cruise on the 6th of March 2022, and it was a fantastic experience!

The boat used for the tour was new and modern, with very quiet engines. There were two main guides: one of them was from the area and shared many interesting bits of local knowledge, and the other guide was very knowledgeable about local wildlife. All in all the staff was very friendly and approachable.

The tour started by going up a narrow fjord until we reached the ice sheet on the water (see picture 1 below!). There are also some sites of historical importance there that the guides pointed out. On the way back they lowered a drone in the water so that we could see some of the aquatic wildlife, and the guides would also call out directions if there were interesting animals to see from the boat.

After that we went to a small fishing facility nearby (see picture 2) for a brief tour and tasting of some smoked fish, akvavit, and also cod liver oil for those with a strong stomach.

Throughout the trip there were stunning sights and we took many nice pictures. The tour lasted for about 5 hours, which felt like the right amount of time. We paid 1190 NOK per ticket and feel like it is a great deal. Thoroughly recommended!

A state of the art and very comfortable and quiet electric boat took us on a four hours tour of the neighboring arctic fjords. Amazing views over beautiful unspoiled nature. Tromso's fjords are not as spectacular as other more famous Norwegian and Scandinavian fjords, but the tour was well worth it. You can spend time on the deck, or stay inside and still enjoy 360 degrees panoramic views. There is a bar in the main cabine offering beverages and snacks at an additional cost. The tour guide is friendly and very knowledgeable. My only critic is the tour length, it could have been done in 2 or 3 hours.

Great idea to explore fjord during not a great weather.
Both hosts Veronica and Kim did an amazing job telling us about the landscape, history, and animals.
The underwater dron was a nice addition and mini sample of little canape with the fish.
    Great landscape despite foggy weather.
The whole adventure took 4h,we left after 10:00 and were back for 14:00.

I would only query that we did not stop on /got off the boat any of the 2 planned stops (Ramfjorden/Kavaloya) given in the intenerary.
I would also check the price (it says £97 when started booking but we're charges £109 as a final price so a bit misleading).

Recommended this company by Wandering Owl (who we did the Aurora tour with). Had looked at the RIB option but so glad we went with this company. Good sized boat and only 21 guests booked on so plenty of space. Cold out on the deck when moving so we enjoyed being inside with panoramic windows so you could see the scenery very clearly. Popped outside for photos and when we stopped to put the drone out.
The crew were very friendly and informative, some history and geography lessons as we went, all very interesting. Stopover at a fishing village was very cool, tasters of fish and cod liver oil. Hot chocolate on the boat was delicious.
All round very pleased to have gone with this option, we wouldn’t have seen as much on the RIB and I fear we’d have frozen!

Tromso is where people go in the hope of seeing the Northern Lights. That was us too but we soon learned that our timing was off and the weather was against us so we went in search of other things to do. We chose this cruise after speaking to some of the local travel guides and given the weather, shopping aside there didn't seem to be a lot more to do.
The weather on the day of our cruise was not great (to say the least) but we still enjoyed exploring the fjords (the sun came out briefly as we ran into the ice sheets), and learning about the way people live, eat and work in this challenging environment.
The heavy snowfall which began mid morning was quite a novelty for us though it did make walking around on the deck a little risky. And given the conditions we didn't see any wildlife apart from a porpoise or two off in the foggy distance. But none of this was the the cruise operators fault, and the staff were great. Making the best of the challenging conditions, they persevered with the onshore presentations and made sure everyone was safe getting on and off the boat as the weather deteriorated. It was freezing on the island but it was interesting to see the fishing facility and drying racks and to have the opportunity to taste some of the fish.

This was an informative tour, with lots of beautiful scenery. Our guides Frank and Frida were excellent and carried a lot of knowledge. Overall I thought it was a great privilege to see the fjords. As someone who has lived in a city my whole life, being able to see untouched beauty was such a privilege. Would definitely recommend if you want to have ample time to take in some new sites whilst learning about the history and ecology!

Took the cruise from the Tromso harbor with Ivan as our guide. He introduced the crew and provided the safety briefing with an interesting twist helping to keep the attention of passengers on an important subject.

Ivan provided narration, information and history, explaining points of interest as we cruised.

Unfortunately, wind and currents were to high to make any stops or launch the underwater drone, but the captain made up for it by pointing out a harbor porpoise and following it for a bit to ensure all passengers got a glimpse.

The ship is lovely, very comfortable and has lots of room to move about. My sisters and I enjoyed our experience.

We really enjoyed this mini cruise through the arctic fjords near Tromso. The instructions and meeting point provided upon booking were clear and Tromso isn’t such a big town so it wasn’t hard to find. The ship itself was delightful, with plenty of space to sit inside where it’s warm and walk around outside if you dress warm (we went in March). It’s a very quiet vessel and the water looked like a glass or mirror. Views were simply spectacular. The fish samples and narration of the journey were interesting and fun. Thank you!!

We stayed in a hotel near by the ship, in the morning no body gave us a call or text to coordinate where to meet or how. However, we managed to reach on time prior to their departure.
The trip was very amazing, it was a like a mix of biology class and amazing views.....I liked it.

The staff were very helpful, the were very talkative and offered to take pictures. The boat is clean and well maintained.

I'd say a free drink on board would have been a nice gesture specially with the price being paid is not low. However, it was mentioned that nothing is inclusive.

Overall I would definitely recommend it to any body.

When in Tromso there are so many tours you can do that it can be overwhelming closing which one. We chose this particular tour as we only wanted a half day tour, due to the cold temperatures we wanted to be comfortable inside a boat and not restricted to outside space. This boat looked great with big panoramic windows. The tour also promised to launch a drone under the water and see what we could see (conditions permitting).
We were not disappointed with any of the above.
The boat was lovely and comfortable with big windows and lots of deck space. The staff were friendly, helpful, informative and fun.
The views from the boat were terrific and our great captain took us right up to the edge of the frozen part of the fjord. Incredible.
The visit to the fishing station was good and a chance to stretch your legs on land.
They did launch the drone but couldn't really see much and due to the sea currents, it was not in the water long. Still interesting to see though. They did play some previous drone footage of a beluga whale which was interesting to see.
Food and drink served on board and not too expensive.
Plenty of deck space outside to wander - careful of the spray and the wind!

Overall, a really enjoyable half day on the water. Would recommend.
