Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- nouvh00 contributionsReidier cudlesGreat rendier encounter and feeding. The Sami guide was very nice and the dinner was in a Great traditional atmosphere. We did not go sledding due to the weather, but even so I recommand this tripWritten 4 February 2025
- LOR1860 contributionsEnjoyable experience even though sledding had to cancelled cancelled (due to weather)An Enjoyable morning. Sadly, the unexpectedly cold weather froze the area, making the surface far too dangerous for the reindeer to pull any of the sleds :-( However, this was made up for us by: being able to feed as many reindeer as we wanted from buckets; a delicious Reindeer stew (plus seconds!); and unlimited hot chocolate drinks with biscuits (or tea/ coffee). Rounded off with fascinating stories of the Sami history and culture.Written 4 February 2025
- Kasia M0 contributionsAmazing experienceWe had a fantastic day, we love every minute of it. Stunning landscape, interesting stories and beautiful reindeer. Thank you for an amazing experienceWritten 3 February 2025
- Q4751QWjackg0 contributionsHighest recommendation for this experienceIt delivered as marketed. The reindeer were friendly and hungry to make the feeding experience enjoyable. The food was good and the discussion of the Sami people was interesting.Written 31 January 2025
- l0dinae0 contributionsVery goodVery well organized. Marta and Nina were our guides and they were very friendly !! Loved feeding the reindeers, but the sledding was not very exciting. The Sami culture was really interesting and the soup was delicious. Overall a very nice experienceWritten 30 January 2025
- jameslS7610QZ0 contributionsReindeer adventureWe had a great experience with the Reindeer. You get right up close with them, feed them and can gently touch them. The sledding was slow but part of the fun and experience. All in all it was a good way to spend half the day. Would recommend. Also food was good + unlimited hit chocolate and biscuits. :-)Written 29 January 2025
- Barbara F0 contributionsSami EducationA very enjoyable and informative tour. We enjoyed feeding the reindeer and learning about the herd husbandry. Also learning about Sami culture, clothing and shelter. We were very fortunate to get good weather - temperature 0 degrees with little wind. Special thanks to Reiulf Aleksndersen.Written 29 January 2025
- BobbyDrake70 contributionsBucket list tripOh I loved this excursion! Seeing and feeding all the reindeers was such a special treat (make sure to wrap up warm). The sledding was short but fun. The people looking after us really were so friendly and made a huge effort to look after you. Plenty of space and fires to warm with coffee, tea, and cookies when you get cold. The food was delicious, and the Sami stories important and educational. One not to miss!Written 29 January 2025
- IrisJ210 contributionsNice tripWe had a nice day in the camp. It’s great to see and feed the reindeer, had a nice lunch and also learn about the Sami culture.Written 28 January 2025
- pattyv8870 contributionsSami ExperienceExcellent, well planned experience! Fed the reindeer, rode in a sleigh pulled by reindeer, informative cultural talk, reindeer stew and lots of hot chocolate to warm up.Written 26 January 2025
- Michele170 contributionsWhat a magnificent creature! It was the most beautiful and amazing experience we have encountered - being one with these docile and gentle creatures is out of this world - we are mere mortals in front of them! And there were 250 of them! To feed, touch and stroke them was unbelievable. The Sami people are so welcoming and the talk later about their culture and traditions of looking after the reindeer’s was an eye opener. The stew was to die for - what an experience, would definitely recommend!Written 26 January 2025
- lisa_sunshinepz0 contributionsMagical Arctic AdventureWe had the most magical experience! The highlight was feeding and sledding with the reindeer, who were incredibly calm and gentle. We also had the privilege of meeting the Sámi people, who were so welcoming and kind. Inside a cozy lavvu tent by the fire, we learned about their rich traditions and culture while sipping hot chocolate to stay warm. Dinner was delicious, with reindeer stew served (vegetarians had the option of tomato soup). To make the evening even more special, the northern lights graced us with their presence—truly unforgettable! The only downside was the disorganized bus pickup before the tour began. It felt chaotic, with too many people crowding around different operators unsure of where to go. However, once on the bus, everything went smoothly. Overall, an amazing experience I’d highly recommend!Written 25 January 2025
- D7147SObrianb0 contributionsTromso Artic Reindeer Hospitality needs ImprovementThe tour was nice but the disorganization prior to the tour impacted our satisfaction. We were never notified that the meeting place for the tour was changed. After searching for the guides in a Blue Coat at the Bankgata and Samuel Arenesens Gate location for 15 minutes, we contacted the tour operator by phone to find out they had changed the meeting place to the Tromso Bus terminal. They claimed they sent an email yesterday but probably it went to a travel agent located in a different country. Because we were now late we had to run to the new location. In the process of doing this one of our group (64 yr old) fell hard to the ground as their feet went out from under them hurting their back. We eventually made it to the terminal and were able to get on the bus. The staff was less than apologetic and actually expressed an arrogant attitude (Edwina?) when I told them 3 of our party would not be going. We did not ask for a refund, but were just informing them in case they wanted to let someone waiting to go if there were any cancellations. There is defiantly a problem with booking this excursion through a travel agent due to poor communication.Written 23 January 2025
- I6661IHgarym0 contributionsExcellent versus average.Spent lots of time with the reindeer which was excellent. However there was a lot of down time between events. The talk on their culture was excellent. I felt the tour was over priced.Written 20 January 2025

My partner and I booked the Artic Reindeer Experience for our trip to Tromsø and can honestly say it was one of the absolute best decisions. We did the trip at night so can only talk from that perspective but if the day is anything like the night, this trip is unmissable in my opinion. The trip was organised and efficient from the point of booking through to us actually going on the tour and returning. I whole heartedly believe this tour represents such good value and I will explain in further detail. Nina our guide from the city, our bus driver and all the team at the Reindeer camp were amazing. We missed out on the Reindeer sledding due to the weather conditions but the cost of the tour was adjusted for this. The coach you travel on is spacious and you are well informed about the trip and what’s on the itinerary for that evening. You can tell it’s magical on arrival looking out to a vast area with many many reindeer. Before heading out to feed the Reindeer you enter a large cosy hut with a roaring fire - I have seen people leave negative reviews saying you leave said hut with your clothes smelling of smoke…do not let this deter you!!!! Simply sit on the back row with one of the blankets kindly provided. After a short introduction and brief run through of the itinerary you head out to feed the reindeer which is an amazing experience. After spending time outside you will understandably be cold but head into another larger hut with two fires and ample seating and are provided with plenty of hot drinks, cookies before being served your three course meal. (In my case four courses as I was lucky enough to be offered more of the delicious Reindeer Stew) - (For the alternative option, my partner had the tomato soup which was equally as good). This was actually my favourite meal while in Tromso, genuinely when I say it would not be out of place in a restaurant in the town I mean it, it is so nice. We were lucky enough after our meal to catch a clear glimpse of the Northern Lights before heading back into the smaller tent (follow above said advice if your precious about clothes smelling), at this point your immersed in learning about traditional Sami culture which is really really interesting. In summary, your travel there and back, feeding and meeting many many reindeer, having as many hot drinks and cookies as you want, a restaurant standard 3 course meal, and learning about the Reindeer and Sami Culture just represents great value, I actually heard a few people in a local pub talking about how they saw the reindeer on the side of the road but believe me this just isn’t the same. I hope this is an insightful review and if you choose to go you love it as much as me and partner did.

A night trip that lasts about 3/4 hours in all. They take you by well-heated coach to a reindeer pasture near Tromso where a couple of Sami huts are located.
They provide boots that I recommend in case there is not much snow (so there is a lot of mud).
You'll find yourself able to feed and pet a really huge flock of reindeer if they want to. Afterwards you will warm up inside the large Sami hut where they light fires and distribute tea, coffee and chocolate all u can drink. Included in the price is a 3-course dinner: shrimp salad, hot reindeer soup and a cake.
After dinner an authentic Sami will explain things about her culture and delight you with typical songs.
In summary very recommended to spend a nice evening and for those who have never seen reindeer so closely.

This was a bit pricey at ~$150 USD per person (x3). In the end, it was worth it and it was only a 20-25-minute drive from the bus station. Yes, it was cold but they provided huts with fires for you to warm up if you needed. It was a combination of feeding reindeer, taking a short reindeer sled ride (~5-7 minutes), hot drinks (unlimited), dinner (unlimited), and then some Sami storytelling by the fire. Dinner consisted of (you could choose anything and everything from the following): Salmon salad, reindeer stew, tomato-based vegetarian stew, bread, chocolate cake. At one point, one of the guides pointed to the sky and there were the Aurora Borealis starting to make an appearance. It was cool hanging out with reindeer and seeing the Northern Lights. Given that part of the ticket price goes to care and feeding of the reindeer, I highly recommend this tour and this tour company.

We like to take small group tours and avoid large group activities like the plague. When we saw the size of the bus and that a cruise ship was in port our hearts sank a little. However once we got to the camp we were pleasantly surprised that once everyone spread out amongst the herd and activities, it did not feel crowded at all.
The sled ride was OK, but not really worth the additional cost - you could easily leave this off and still have a great time. Feeding the reindeer was great fun. Some of them get a bit pushy and some people might be intimidated by an antler prod or hoof on their leg, but we never felt in danger at all.
Dinner was nice and added to the over all experience, as did Daniel telling us about the life of a herder etc. The northern lights made a grand appearance and topped the whole evening off.

First of all, we expected reindeer in a wooded area, small group and leisurely sleigh ride through the forest.
In fact, about 3 buses with about 60 people had been put together in a big tent.
The plot is a treeless fenced area with 300 reindeer.
The sleigh ride was disappointing as it took about 5 minutes and only led in a circle over the property.
The feeding was impressive as you got close to the animals and the hosts very friendly.
I found it to be mass handling and was somewhat disappointed.

We had a great time feeding the reindeers and learning about Sami people and their culture on this tour. Inga spoke passionately about her roots and their hope for the future which I hope people around can truly appreciate and respect.
I was celebrating my birthday and I was so touched by their kind gesture, a souvenir I will always treasure. For dinner they had vegan/vegetarian options for starters and mains but unfortunately there wasn’t any dessert (chocolate cake looked delicious). I would highly recommend this tour to appreciate and learn about the many cultures around us which we wouldn’t know about otherwise.

Lots of positives: Feeding the reindeer, 15 minute reindeer sled ride was enough. Reindeer walked in a line, nothing like driving a dog sled. Food was tasty and seconds were encouraged. Stories and songs were interesting by young Sami women. Very friendly and helpful staff. Limited northern light viewing, but not tours fault.
A couple of negatives: Staff at pickup were terribly disorganized and no lighting getting off the bus at the camp. Strongly suggest if you do the night tour you bring a flashlight.

We went in November 2024. We collected the bus from the bus station and headed out 40 minutes to the Reindeer farm.
Feeding the deer is a fun experience, but some of them can get a little bit pushy, so just be aware of that.
We had hot chocolate, biscuits, stew and other food in the main indoor area, which is lit with big fires to combat the cold.
We also saw the Northern lights, which was a bonus.

Before the reindeer sledding we got to feed the beauties, who were very majestic (if a little eager!). Sledding was great, the reindeer were very good and kept in line for the 10-15 minutes. Dinner was excellent but the highlight was unquestionably seeing the Northern Lights! They formed a beautiful crescent and danced across the night sky. We sadly missed more time learning about Sami culture as we were all outside watching them!

Amazing evening - the weather was absolutely pelting it down with snow but this made it more atmospheric. Feeding the reindeer was cute and so was the sleigh ride although I was freezing by the time we got off. No worries, there's an area to go in and warm up where we then had dinner which was delicious.
Afterwards we went into the larger hut to hear about the Sami tribe, our host was really lovely and it was all very interesting.
This was an absolute highlight of our trip and I couldn't recommend it enough.
