We chose Jan because of his excellent reviews and I am pleased to say he lived up to them. Jan met us at our hotel promptly at the chosen time. He gave us a little information about himself and the tour began. The first stop was at a statue we had walked past the day before and he enlightened us about aspects of Vienna’s history using the statue as a starting point. He was always very interesting and didn’t shirk from more difficult topics. He is a registered tourist guide and seems to love his job and adopted country. His English is excellent and he is very pleasant and easy to listen to.

Went on the free Vienna city centre walking tour. Took 2 hours. Great tour well worth doing. Paid €10.

Worth it! jan was a great tour guide. Knowledgeable on many subjects and easy to talk to. We have four teenage daughters and they were engaged the entire time! Highly recommend !

Excellent walking tour to know the details of Vienna’s history. Jan is a knowledgeable tour guide that provides significant amount of information and tailored the tour based on specific request from the family. He kept everyone engaged throughout the tour and provided many bits of information that we would not get from a large tour. Highly recommend this experience to get to know Vienna.

Terrific tour! Jan is personable, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. He met us at our hotel and began giving us an overview from the start. He put Vienna’s culture, food and architecture in historical context. His background as an art historian was especially helpful as was his ‘magical’ bag of photos, maps and cards he used to illustrate and educate. He was also flexible and included sites of our particular interest. I highly recommend!

Jan's knowledge and power of oratory made this unmissable. His story telling powers woven together in a humorous compelling narrative dissolved the hours to minutes. We as a group cannot recommend this highly enough.

Jan was knowledgeable, friendly and flexible with our itinerary. He really connected the history, art, food and overall culture of Vienna with that of the country and the world. Also loved his Mary Poppins-like bag of photos and mini-maps to illustrate our discussions. Money and time very well spent - I recommend him highly!

A great walking tour with Jan! Very knowledgeable on history of Austria (including historical development and politics) as well as architecture and art. Great way to start our visit to determine how we wanted to spend our time going forward. Definitely recommend!

Jan was excellent. Very good command of English. He is an art history scholar and not Austrian whose admiration and love of Vienna comes through as a guide. He was very good not only in making certain the important sights were reviewed but also adding little gems of knowledge that made the tour captivating, especially for my teenage daughters.
