- bo8080 contributionsPrague and Budapest day tour. Both the trips to Prague and Budapest was amazing. Kevin from the tour organiser went out of his way to make this happen, thank you. Best regards to both Marcus and Marco in taking us to these wonderful placesWritten 5 March 2025

- hienc420 contributionsHoping for a good tour and ended up with a completely wonderful experience! From the start, our driver/guide Belage (spelling?) was tremendous as he was friendly, accommodating, and informative. He doled out fun facts about Vienna, Austria, the Sound of Music and we even got some history lessons. Every stop was well coordinated and we had ample time at each one (although we would have like to have stayed at Sankt Gilgen longer since it was such a picturesque Alpine Village). At Salzburg, we met Maria, a local who was our guide through the town. She was a sweet lady who gave us great insights into the city, its history, and the Sound of Music. It is a long day, but definitely a tour that was well worth it!Written 29 December 2024
- 12aileend0 contributionsAmazing day trip to Prague!!My favorite day trip was to Prague!! Such a beautiful city that I will definitely go back. Linda, our local guide had so much information to share and brought us around to see as much of the city as she could in our allotted time. She gave us lots of tips and was willing to help and answer any questions we asked. Our driver Balazs was so kind and also shared lots of wonderful history regarding Austria and the Czech Republic. I would definitely use this tour company again when I am back in Vienna and would highly recommend them to anyone!!Written 28 December 2024
- Navigate6544110 contributionsA MUST WHILE IN VIENNA!!This was one of my most memorable tours. Of course Hallstatt speaks for itself, its beauty and charm. The other villages we stopped at on the way are lovely as well. Being able to enjoy some time and not have to navigate myself was a real treat. What made the trip so memorable was the camaraderie of the group. We hit it off right from the start! There were 2 hilarious strangers (to each other) who had the rest of us laughing so hard, it was something I'll always remember and made the trip extraordinary. The breakfast stop was expensive, as other reviewers have mentioned. And the young man at the checkout was less than friendly. I would have appreciated knowing how to get out of the restaurant! The entrance and exit are in different places and you have to walk through the 'store' part to get out. If there was one thing that put a damper on the journey, I feel the need to mention the driver and his ethnic comments along the way. Very poor taste. I recall other reviews saying the same thing. It's a shame this driver hasn't taken note and deleted those unnecessary and hurtful words from his commentary. It looks like there are at least 2 drivers for this excursion. I got to experience both of them due to a glitch in picking the guests up from their hotel. The first one was great - friendly, chatty and funny. The one for the actual drive to Hallstatt was disappointing. Still, this trip is well worth going on. Hallstatt is romantic, pretty and dreamy.Written 10 December 2024
- Lainie0070 contributionsA good trip to get a taste of PragueMy tour guide and driver, Marco, was late on his way to pick me up for the day trip but he sent me a message via WhatsApp, which was appreciated. He was friendly and knowledgeable and a good driver. The drive is 3 1/2 hrs one way so expect to spend a lot of time in the van. Our local guide in Prague, Jane, was friendly and knowledgeable, but seemed more concerned that we shop from local businesses (perhaps they're all friends with her). She was knowledgeable about Prague, but we didn't visit some of the locations on our itinerary like Prague Castle. Also, when she was asked for recommendations for lunch she didn't have any specific places to point us to, she just told the us to go to Old Town. Keep in mind all restaurants and souvenirs shop are in Old Town and the walk back to the meeting point in the New Town was almost a 10 minute walk away from Old Town. This meant your free time is limited to eat, shop, and do what you like.Written 5 December 2024

- 214stj0 contributionsAmazing HallstattHallstatt is every bit as amazing as we hoped from the pictures. While the driving is pretty long from Vienna, we were glad to have made the trip in the off season rather than going on our own. Hallstatt is really a tiny village and it was easy to see how it could be overwhelmed by busloads of tourists that bring in 10X their population in a day during the height of the season. Our tour guide in the town was terrific and gave us a great appreciation for the local history and nearby salt mines. Even though we had sloppy weather on our day, the village and location are still very picturesque and made the drive worth it. Our driver, Roman, was very good and made sure to take regular comfort breaks. Our stops on the way down gave us the chance to see a couple of cute villages we would have otherwise missed.Written 2 December 2024
- brightnik0 contributionsA must do!I had a great time in this trip. Thanks to our driver Zoltan and the fellow passengers for making this trip much more fun than I expected. We had a good breakfast on our way and made 2 stops before reaching Hallstatt. The place was beautiful! Had a wonderful experience.Written 27 November 2024
- I8750XZheatherb0 contributionsBeautiful trip! Highly recommend!Marco was a really great tour guide with Alligator tours. The van seemed new and very comfortable no matter what row. I loved that Marco spoke through the speakers so everyone could hear him! I can’t believe all the knowledge of everywhere we went. It was a really long day but it was all worth it. We loved our hour tour with Christina at Hallstatt as well and the stops along the way.Written 24 November 2024

We recently took a day trip to Budapest, and it exceeded all my expectations! The itinerary was perfectly paced, allowing ample time to explore the city’s stunning landmarks. The lunch recommendation was spot-on, offering delicious local cuisine in a lovely setting—it was the perfect break in our day. Our tour guide was exceptional—extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the city’s history, culture, and hidden gems. Their insights truly enriched the experience. I highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to make the most of a day in Budapest!

Peter, our personal guide, had a welcoming and very approachable personality. Moreover, his vast knowledge of multiple cultures was indispensable — certainly this experience would not have been nearly as informative and wonderful as it was, all thanks to Peter.
Not only is this trip a very good value for the money, it has prompted me to take other White Alligator Tours. A hearty “thank you”!

Tour guide was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Unfortunately the Chinese president was in town so our trip was significantly impacted by traffic and the buda castle/fisherman’s bastion being closed to the public. I recommend telling travelers ahead of time their trip might be severely impacted during events such as these so they have the option to book a different date

Our tour guide Peter was very informative and personable. He was sensitive to the unusual traffic delays getting to Budapest and made sure we got that time back. We did see all of the sites noted in the itinerary but there was not enough time to tour the inside of any of these important sites. Perhaps we could have spent less time driving around the city and been given the option of more “free time” to talk the city and tour some of the important sites like the opera house, parliament building or church. It was disappointing to only see these sites from the outside.. While the itinerary indicated that the cost of the trip did not include admission to any sites, it was not clear that touring the sites would be time- prohibitive.

I am not sure how to write this review since we also went to Hallstatt with White Alligator and that tour was 10/10 amazing! But this tour...not so great. It was really crowded in the van, and we were all uncomfortably squished together. It snowed a lot as well on the way to Budapest and in the city, but our tour guide did not factor that into the time we had to visit each location. We stopped by a church, but by the time I walked around the Christmas markets to get tickets for the church entrance and then walked back up the stairs to the church, we had maybe 15 minutes. By the time we got to the long stop, where our guide suggested places to eat, we were all tired and grumpy. In fact, we ended up eating and then walking to the Hyatt (our van was parked in the lot there) and saw the rest of our tour waiting inside as well. The weather definitely impacted this tour, but I feel like our guide could have done a better job.

The tour guide/driver was punctual, polite and knowledgeable. The drive to Budapest was peppered with historical references. Once in the city of Buda, we received an excellent tour of the castle district and enjoyed a coffee at the oldest coffee house in the city. The Pest side of the river provided us with not only beautiful views of the city, but provided additional history of the founding of the city and ample time to do some personal touring.

This was the best way to see the Budapest hightlights from Vienna, Austria.
Marco was our driver and tour guide and he was the absolute best! As I was solo, I sat up front and was able to witness his very safe and courteous driving. His knowledge of both Vienna and Budapest were excellent and his commentary while he drove was both informative and entertaining. Would highly recommend this tour.

One-day tour in Budapest, the tour guide was very professional and very nice. We took a lot of beautiful photos. The tour guide took the initiative to take photos of each of our families. He introduced a lot of local customs and practices. There was enough time for each attraction. We returned to Vienna on time. After returning to Vienna, he introduced us to the buildings and stories we encountered in the old town of Vienna.

The trip blends the culture, history, and scenery. Our guide is knowledgeable and friendly. He makes sure that we visit the iconic spots, and he also gives us plenty of free time and information to explore the city.

Our guide/driver Marcus was fine with tour Vienna details. That was the positive.
The Negative is having 9 total people squeezed into that small vehicle.
The rear seat, with No legroom or storage. and 3 people seated there was torture for 3 hours.
I realize it’s business and all about money , but no consideration to Guest Comfort in this situation.
Sorry but no future tours recommended with White Alligator/TripAdvisor

We were provided free time on the tour in the city center, so you should be able to visit an attraction during that time. It is not a lot of time (2-3 hours) though, so you'd probably want to plan on no more than one thing. We had time for lunch and a visit to the main market, then grabbed a drink by the river.

Hi! Is there enough free time to see the thermal baths?
Written 8 March 2023
Yes, we had lunch for an hour and then went to the thermal baths. I didn’t realise we would have this much time, so I wasn’t organised with swimmers. So we wondered around the baths instead of swimming.

I didn't have this problem, so I can't advise you, except that when things like this happen to me, i let American Express take care of it. They have not disappointed me yet. Other credit card providers may have similar customer services.

Is this tour still possible with omicron variant? I am fully vaccinated (2 rounds plus booster) coming from South Korea to Vienna.
Written 7 January 2022
Yes, I believe that’s possible. I’m vaccinated three times and the tour guide checked. You also need to show proof of vaccination (2 plus booster), along with your passport, when you re-enter Austria from Hungary.
It’s really an amazing tour! You will love it.
Written 8 January 2022
Hi ,
Could we take this day tour from Budapest to Vienna or other cities in Austria if we are not vaccinated ?
Written 13 December 2021
Probably not. There is a lockdown for unvaccinated people in Austria until the new year.

We are 3 Americans. Which Covid Test do we have to show a "negative" in order to get into Hungary?
Are all vehicles checked at the border? And then again when we return to Austria?
Written 26 September 2021
Hello, we went to Hungary from Austria. There were no checks at the border at all and in Budapest they had lifted restrictions altogether. On our return our COVID pass was checked at the border when returning to Austria. I have Pfizer vaccine and all was ok.
