An amazing artistic experience in a beautiful setting, wonderful music and a great artistic ensemble. Ended with a long, chanting applause from everyone present.

Trumpet and Organ recital at Malteserkirche is one of the best concert experiences in Vienna
One of the best concert experiences we had this December in Vienna, which is saying a great deal! The trumpet and organ recital is held in the beautiful and intimate space of the Malteser Church located on one of the prime shopping streets in Vienna, Kärtnerstrasse 37. Freddy Staudigl plays several trumpets with exceptional skill providing a warm, modulated, brilliant sound that was at times gentle and times soared to the heavens. Tonight he was joined by Robert Koizar playing the "historic baroque organ, built in 1767 by Gottfried Sonnholz (1695‐1781), boasts 339 pipes, with over 300 remaining original from the Baroque era. Despite its limited number of stops, the Sonnholz organ at the Maltese Church in Vienna produces a rich and diverse sound that is truly captivating." (courtesy of the Malteserkirche website). Robert came down and gave a brief history of the organ in both English and German adding to the feeling of being amongst friends. We were thankful to be seated over one of the heaters under the pews since it was a cold evening in December and enjoyed that Freddy himself handed out cushions for the pews to make guests more comfortable. Given a choice of this concert or, say, the one at Stefansdom, choose this one. It is an infinitely better choice.

    A wonderful VIP evening
My husband and I had VIP tickets last week. We enjoyed the meal, the carriage ride and the concert. We appreciated all the help our pages provided (Denise & Lily). We thoroughly enjoyed the performance, and meeting the conductor & two of the singers at intermission. What a fabulous way to spend our anniversary.

    Concert excellent, dinner orrible
The concert, music , hall, musicians, director were phantastic, really a great event. Four dots instead of five fo0r the dinner in Grand Hotel Wien: really miserable. If the Hotel is not interested to concert's guests, better to avoid the dinner at all. Poor food, no choice, no coffee available: really a bad experience

    Beware the Brahms
Dinner at the Bristol was pleasant enough. We had purchased the category A seats for this concert which was held in the Brahms Hall. Given the flat floor for the audience and only a slightly elevated stage for the musicians, my view was limited to sporadic glimpses of the conductor's wig and my wife's view was even more disappointing. The performance itself was good so during the pause, we collected the DVD and will listen to the full performance without straining in vain to actually see it. The Brahms is not friendly to the patrons.

Mozart concert at the Vienna Musikverein.
The concert hall is fantastic. The orchestra and singers are fabulous, dressed in costume, giving us a memorable evening. It was our second visit, last year it was a Strauss concert, which again was fantastic. Dress code is smart casual but many people were simply dressed in their winter holiday clothes. A great evening was had by all.

Most enjoyable concert in the Brahms-Saal. We had seats in middle balcony and had a fantastic view of the musicians. Sound was also perfect. The concert was a very good mix of orchestra and opera snippets. The conductor involved the audience at one point during the performance which was great. Highly recommend this Mozart Konzert.

    Good tourist concert but...
If you're a serious music lover these concerts are not for you. We went because we wanted to see the inside of the Musikverein. The music played was perfectly chosen as it was mostly well known musical bonbons adequately played but if you wanted a serious concert, Vienna offers much better quality. We were also disappointed by the seating in this great concert hall as it is not raked. This means that if there is someon tall in front of you, the view isn't great. It has put us off ever trying to get to one of the famous New Year's concert at the musikverein.

So I was worried. I am a classical musician at heart (super serious in my younger years more of a hobbiest now to give an idea of my background).I saw these guys all over the street dressed in Mozart garb and turned to my partner and was like uhh I'm sorry I think we may of bought tickets to a tourist trap. So we did. I mean it seemed to be a bit campy and a bit of a tourist trap. But it wasn't bad. It's not like a community theater. Certainly not the vienna phil but very entertaining. The conducter made it fun and engaging. The music was pretty well done. There were some pieces I am well familiar with and have played (think memorized as audition pieces ) and they were well done. Common recognizable pieces were played. Also I accidentally let them choose our seats (I think there's an option for this). I got the cheapest 55 euro tickets and bought them before we got to Vienna. We somehow landed in 2nd row seats to the right of the stage which were fantastic. Not sure how we pulled that off but it was awesome. The seats fyi are super close together (someone mentioned fire hazard of a theater and this is sadly on point) but we had the row to ourselves although the theater itself was quite full. Tip:they make you check your coats (we guessed because the seats are so darn close together) and charge a euro or two per coat. Some of the more well versed theater goers brought one of those packable bags and put the coats in there for the duration of the show. It saves money but perhaps more importantly time. And also checking your coat next to some random persons coat who you don't know (as someone with lots of allergies this is a concern of mine).Oh also the theater itself is out of this world. It's opulent beautiful and just a work of art.

I'd love to give this 5 stars, because the musicianship is top-notch. The first chair violinist was superb, the singers great - everyone first class. Unfortunately two things spoiled it for me. First, during the performance, the lighting wasn't dimmed at all. I realize they want to show off the hall and costumes, but stage lights are fine for musicians, and we all saw the hall before the show. The second and touchier subject is that multiple audience members talked during the show, including the 4 people behind me. I did a "shhhh" but that didn't work. I told the ushers during intermission, and they said there was nothing they can do because they don't enter the hall during the performance so as to not disrupt. I realize that's a fine line, but there should be at least one usher in the hall to observe if people are talking during the show.

We thank you for taking the time to review us! Makes as very happy that the music perfomance was of your enjoyment. The Musikverein has its traditions, and one of them is that the lights stay on during their concerts, always. We are very sorry though to hear about other guests being loud and disrupting your evening.

The venue and concert were delightful and entertaining. The musicians and singers performed extremely well. This would be a concert I would recommend to anyone who enjoys the music of Mozart with the ambience of period dress and beautiful architecture.

Only reason it's rating of 3 vice 1 is because the orchestra put in a worthy effort. It's not their fault the concert is peddled on the street and online very haphazardly along with guests being stacked like cattle inside the concert hall. For the amount paid, seating was jammed packed and wholly uncomfortable. A complete tourist trap. Highly recommend seeing an ensemble locally at one of the small churches. Stay away from the large venues as the tourist companies are pushing for profits not customer experience or appreciation of the region's heritage. Talented orchestra, but between the venue being a fire hazard and the impersonal nature of the experience, it's not worth the price or frustration. Stay away.

The experience at the Vienna opera was not the best. They sell tickets at the airport and all over the city, but they don't warn that most of the tickets, the cheapest ones essentially have low visibility. You can't see anything. I felt cheated with the whole experience as did my friends. Many people left in the middle of the concert to complain

Dear Guest, It saddens us to hear that our service did not satisfy your expectations and has not met the high standards that we proudly give ourselves. Nevertheless we kindly ask you to understand that there are different seat categories with different prices, as usual the higher the price the better placement you will get. Although we wish to, is not possible for us to give everybody the first available rows, and that is why we are very strict with our sellers to always make sure to show customers the sitting plan of the venue, to avoid any kind of displeasure. If this was not the case at the time you made your purchase, we deeply and sincerely apologize. Kind Regards, Customer Service.

To be honest, these concerts are overpriced with very bad quality musical and voice quality. It's purpose is to get as many tourist as possible and provide them with a very low quality performance.

For those of you who do know what classical music is, do have the correct hearing ability and can recognize what sounds right, do not waste your time and money on this.

I just wasted 75,00 euro on a sit between people whom I can only say have never ever heard any performed piece fully, do not poses hearing ability and worst of all, have no idea when to applause, how to do that and for sure how to dress.

Ratio for those visitors who knew the music is maximum 2 percent, rest are musically uneducated tourists.

Solist, I cannot call her a Diva aka prima donna as she stands way below in the rang and definitely should not sing arias she has no capability to perform.

Overall these events have only commercial and money making ideas. So if you have lots of money and want to waste that, go to such concert. If you value a good quality of music, just do not bother looking at that and go to a place where quality stands above quantity.

Thank you for taking the time to rate us. We would like to point out that we welcome all guests to our concerts, whether they come from a musical background or not, as our aim is to spread the music of mozart to all parts of the world. We also found it a bit appaling that you are able to judge the level of musical knowledge that the people around you have without talking to them. Furthermore only high caliber professional musicians perform in our orchestra, most of whom have toured around the world, not only with us but with also other renown orchestras and symphonies. Of course we understand that classical music as an art form is always a matter of personal taste and therefore you can't please everyone in the audience 100%. Nevertheless, we are happy to say that most people leave our concerts with many positive memories. However, we are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations. "

Trip advisor pulled a bait and switch on this venue. You advertised a concert in the main hall which has spectacular sound, we paid for better seating to see the performance. When we arrived they told us that they essentially were overbooked and we were placed in so called “improved seats in a smaller side stall. Totally not the same.

This is the second time I booked through Trip Advisor and they did not deliver as advertised. They should refund our money for this type of false advertising.

Thank you for your review, we are sorry but we do not understand the situation. As we are an orchester, it is not possible for us to be overbooked and relocate you to another venue. Maybe there was some sort of missunderstanding as the venue has several halls inside. We hope though that the musical perfomance was of your liking

-I liked it: the space, the golden room is impressive, as in the retransmissions of the New Year concert, as well as the exterior of the building.
-I didn't like it: "I guess" it won't be the Vienna Philharmonic, during the month of August it is focused on tourists and the quality of both the management and the musicians is not the same, besides being dressed in period costumes that in my review contribute little, they play the very accelerated themes, I guess to be able to include more pieces, so they lose a lot of quality. The director should just ask for palms in the Radetzky March only and not spoil other pieces, I understand that he wants to encourage the tourist, but it makes it something that I did not expect.
I also consider the €85 per person dear for a mediocre concert and only 1 hour long with 30 minutes rest in the intermission.

I recently attended a concert at this venue, and I have to say, it was a huge letdown. My seat was in the balcony, second row, and honestly, I couldn’t see anything. All I could see were the backs of people in the first row, which was incredibly frustrating. I found myself having to stand up just to catch a glimpse of the stage, and even then, it felt like I was merely listening to a radio broadcast rather than enjoying a live performance.

The sound quality was decent, but the view was so poor that it overshadowed everything else. The tickets were overpriced for such a terrible experience, and I left feeling like I wasted my money. I wouldn't recommend this venue for concerts, especially if you want to actually see the performance. Save your money and choose a better place!

This evening at the Musikverein and with the Mozart Orchester wiener was a disaster.

As soon as we arrived, we were confronted with a crowd of Asian tourists, who arrived by bus, whose behavior was anything but respectful. Rather than savoring the moment, they spent the evening chatting loudly, getting up and running around the aisles, continually disrupting our attention and that of other spectators who came to listen to the music. As if that were not enough, some even allowed themselves to eat in the hall during the concert, a total disrespect for the artists and the audience.

The room, usually synonymous with refinement, was unrecognizable. Overcrowded, it echoed endless sounds of conversation and wrapping papers, turning what should have been a moment of contemplation into a veritable cacophony. Add to that a forest of mobile phones brandished to capture every moment, and the atmosphere was anything but conducive to concentration or musical appreciation.

The orchestra, for its part, deeply disappointed us with its mediocrity. The musicians seemed out of sync, and the conductor, more concerned with his antics than with serious conducting, only accentuated the general feeling of amateurism. The musical programming did not help, stringing together the most stale clichés of so-called classical music, without any audacity or creativity.

To top it off, the audience wore lamentable outfits, unworthy of such a prestigious venue. Shorts, T-shirts and taps dominated, giving the Impression of attending an outdoor outing rather than a concert in one of the most respected venues in the world. Considering the exorbitant Award we paid for this evening, we are all the more disappointed by the lack of quality and general respect.

In the end, this Musikverein experience gives a poor image of Vienna, a city of culture par excellence. We leave with a deep sense of disappointment, regretting that this high place of classical music no longer lives up to its reputation, and that it thus tarnishes the image of this city yet so rich in artistic traditions.
