    No sights to see!
First of all, no open top. Secondly, there is NOTHING to see….unless you want to see an old pond that was in the sound of music… and oh, did you know Mozart was born here?? Don’t worry if not, you certainly will by the end of this. We got off early as frankly, I didn’t fancy a loop around the train station. We do one of these tours in most new cities and it’s normally helpful…. Let me help you with Saltzburg… walk it, it’s very pretty and very easy to get around as it’s surprisingly small!

An intimate walk through Mozart’s life
Mozart lived in two places in Salzburg. This was the one where he was born and we understood that the exhibits at other house were more focused in his father. This house is well maintained and laid out for the many tourists who visit it. It is full of items that reflect life at that time and of course, Mozart’s family life and experiences. There are a number of his personal items as well that make you feel part of his life. We spent several hours there going through every detail and thoroughly enjoyed it. I’d highly recommend this - especially if you like Mozart.

    Beautiful & mesmerizing
Don't miss this.bits breath takingly beautiful. Green line bus is comfortable & nice. Red line is a mini bus & quite crumpy. Bus was jam packed & no a/c so inside it was hot, suffocating & smelly (human sweat smell) but all the stops & little village was superb

VERY DISAPPOINTING- IN A HURRY TO FINISH
I was really excited over taking this tour of the Lakes and Mountains from Salzburg. The day was perfect for some great photography...only the driver chose to skip any stops offering quality views especially the panoramic view overlooking St. Gilgen and the Alps rising from its shores. The recording said we were to stop but we did not. When asked at the next stop, the driver said we will leave in 5 minutes! Our tour was scheduled to last about 3 hours; it finished in 1hr. 50 minutes.

    Lake and Mountain Tour
We bought the Lake and Mountain Tour as the “regular” city tour was no longer available (end of season). We waited 30 minutes for the bus and it arrived on time. The driver, John, was personable, informative and professional. We transferred and our new driver, Mary was just as good and very helpful. On the way home we had a different driver (as we stopped for lunch) and the bus was 10 minutes late (which is not a real problem as there was construction). I was not impressed when this driver responded to a text whilst driving. Not a good policy, and because of this we did not leave a tip. We paid $30 Euros each for this tour, and the cost was reasonable considering the distance covered. Not a bad tour but you must wait one hour at any given stop. This does allow you time to explore and/or have a bite to eat. Fair value for the price paid.

    Good Audio Info-Very Clear
We enjoyed this hop on hop off because the quality of the audio info in english was very good, easy to understand. There was quite a lot of interesting info, not too much dead air. The route showed old town and new town Salzburg. Well worth the hour and 15 mins. Then we had a good wander around old town based on stops we had passed on the tour.

    Not as friendly
The tour is really nice. Most of the buses have wifi, however some of the drivers are not so friendly. This can improved. Also be aware the ticket is for just one of the 3 lines available. The yellow one. Other hop on hop off in other cities I have visited were better.

    Okay, but not great
This gives you access to the whole city (and slightly outside the city), but is not very informative. Much of the information on the audio is about Sound of Music, and this is better done with a separate Sound of Music tour.

A relaxing tour with beautiful scenery
We participated in Lakes and Mountains Hop-on-Hop-Off Tour and were very satisfied. The bus was almost empty and the driver was very polite and drove in a very relaxing way and spoke good English. The sceneries were romantically nice with the exception of Red Bull Headquarters which were totally from another era. Comments supplemented nicely sceneries.. We drove on to St Wolfgang. There we stepped out but did not take the Schafbergbahn but instead stayed in St Wolfgang itself. It is a picturesque small village with lake sceneries, narrow lanes and numerous well cared houses with balconies full of flowers. Really charming! The village also offers good possibilities for lunch. So we stayed there for two hours. Then we started our way back and to our surprise we were the only passangers all the way to Salzburg. During that leg we saw the Sound of Music wedding church shortly but unfortunately I was not prepared to take any pictures of it, Our driver on this return trip was a little bit more aggressive than our morning driver

    Musical History
Did this tour today due to a rainy day outside. Easy tour with English text available. Lots to learn about Motzart and his family as well as very humbling to stand in the very room of his birth!

    Do not waste your money!
Do not waste your money if you have the Bayern Ticket. Transportation in Salzburg is free with the Bayern Ticket. Plan ahead and you can visit most of places for free if you budget your time.

Great way to get to the Lake Region
We used the green line $30 per person to get us from the heart of Salzburg to St. Gilgen. Right next to the bus terminal is the gondola ride up the mountain. A few blocks away is the ferry across the turquoise blue lake. Bus was simply a means of transport, guessing a taxi would have been much more expensive. Make SURE you get back to the bus station before the last bus leaves. In addition, make sure you are at your stop a few minutes early, the drivers we had didn't wait to see if anyone was coming and we were a few minutes early at each stop. Would NOT use this to get around Salzburg unless you are unable to walk. The city is very easy to walk and if you ever get tired there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and museums where you can rest.

Interesting, informative and well worth a visit (particularly if you are a classical musician or fan of Mozart)
Wonderful to visit particularly if you are a classical musician / fan of Mozart. My friend and I had the Salzburg Card so the admission fee was included with our card. Interesting to see the room in which Mozart was born and to see snippets of scores, info, letters and paintings on the life of Mozart and his family. On other floors of the museum, there are items of clothing, furniture and room lay outs giving the viewer an idea of how it would have looked during that period of time. There is also a souvenir shop and cafe in the building.

    Disappointed ☹️
Very disappointed in this Hop on Hop off service. With the exception of the helpful staff at the ticket desk, the staff/drivers were not helpful or friendly. Came across as a group of very unhappy people that didn’t want to talk to tourists. The buses only run every 30 minutes and route map isn’t well laid out. Not worth the cost (if I had to do it again I would take the public bus next time). For comparison, the Hop On Hop Off in Vienna was great - staff were very approachable and happy to answer all questions.

A well-run and clean tour. You listen through earbuds which the operators provide. The recording lines up with where you are in the tour, so if there is traffic and the driver is delayed, the recording doesn't keep going, instead it keeps pace with the bus. The bus hits the stops exactly on time as listed in the brochure, so if you want to get off and back on, you won't run into the problem of not knowing when the ext bus will arrive which happens often with other tour operators in other cities. I wish there was better visibility from the bus, as it's not panoramic, but that's my only quip. The full tour lasts one hour exactly ( if you don't exit the bus) and starts and finishes at Mirabellplatz 2, 5020 Salzburg, Austria. I definitely recommend it for a quick run through of Salzburg's most famous landmarks, then get a Salzburg day card to use the public transportation if you want to travel throughout the city outside of the tour bus loop.

We came to the yellow line buss in Mirabell stop at 15:30 on Thursday 1/8 when the buss was starting. The driver Carmen was very nice and she couldn’t charge me by card and I didnt have enough cash, so she said that she would stop at an ATM so that I could take some cash. She charged me 80 euros for a 24 hours ticket 2 persons, and gave me a receipt of 58 euros. I was so confused that I didn’t react immediately. When I came home and counted my money I found out what she had done. Pity because she seemed very nice, and I was grateful that she stopped to let me get the money. In general I found the Austrians to be very honest. The tour of 1 hour was ok. The blue line is 2 hours and we will try to get it tomorrow 2/8-24. There is also a green line that you can take.

First let me say that the bus itself is very comfortable, the commentary is informative and the stops are good for reaching main attractions however that is where the positives cease.

Unfortunately, the staff running this service significantly take away from what should be a very enjoyable experience.

After a lovely day on the blue line we were returning back to Salzburg (Bus no. S415H) and chatting to some friends that we had made. The driver (Marco) shouted at us to say that we were not allowed to talk and would have to move seats if we wished to speak to one another (there were only 6 people on the bus) so we were not annoying any other guests. The driver was constantly talking very loudly on his phone for the entire duration of the trip which was not only rude but also very unsafe and our friends informed us he was on his phone constantly on their journey out as well. When we asked him any questions he either ignored us or answered very abruptly. He was also a terrible driver and the journey was very uncomfortable - jolting us and throwing us around in our seats which was very concerning especially to me as I was 6 months pregnant at the time.

Additionally, the bus does not run very frequently on the blue line so should you wish to get off at any of the stops you are very limited.

As this was a special trip for my mum's birthday and to celebrate my pregnancy we were very disappointed by the service we received which took away from a lovely trip and area of beauty.

This was probably the worst hop on hop off bus tour we have ever done, and we've done quite a few! And at €54 for 2 was not worth the money. To start with it was a single decker, not an open top double decker as most tend to be. Having said that it was comfortable and air conditioned, but that's about the only positives I can find! We went to Mirabell Gardens to get on at the first stop and had to actively search for someone selling tickets. Once purchased a bus arrived immediately and we got on board. The driver didn't even wait for my husband to sit down and in his rush, didn't spot the overhead rail and banged his head, so not a good start. By the time we got settled and plugged in our headphones we had missed the first 2 stops! The leaflet that you're given doesn't tell you what sights are at each stop, and the print is so small that it's difficult to read. We got off at 3 stops, and actually, another positive, the time table at each stop was accurate and the bus did arrive on time. Apart from the 1st driver, the rest were very nice. Our last stop was to go and see the castle and nunnery. We got off at what we thought was the right stop as we had seen there was a funicular, but once we found out, having walked uphill and steps already, it wasn't operational! We did get a far as the nunnery but had to miss the castle as I was recovering from surgery. It wasn't until later when back in the old town that we saw a working funicular up to the castle! We got back to Mirabell Gardens around 4.45 and intended to get on to another at 5.00 to do the bits we'd missed at the beginning but there were no more buses. That was partly us misreading the timetable so read carefully! Finally, the commentary wasn't very good, it gave some of the history but didn't really point out any interesting landmarks. I'd say don't bother. We'd already paid €4.50 for a bus ticket to get us to the town and that was valid all day, wish we'd just used that ticket on regular buses.

The two tours are interesting and well done.
Unfortunately they decided to change the timetables the same day we took the bus (August 23rd), halving the runs of one of the available lines (in particular the blue one), while on the brochures available in the hotels the timetables were valid for the whole month in August and without telling us as we got on the bus. We had to call a taxi to go back to our hotel.
Experience to forget and we missed half the tour we paid for.

We always like to do a tour like this the first day when we travel to a new city/country to get a lay of the land and see if there’s anywhere we see that we want to go first.
The lady driving our bus started off having to raise her voice at me first thing because I didn’t know we had to scan our tickets entering the bus, then rolled her eyes and chucked with others waiting in line. While I sat in my seat I noticed it was a common event that almost everyone had to get a yelling at 😒. Maybe they need to be a little more specific before entering the bus .
That started me on the wrong foot.
I thought she was a terrible host for my first day in Austria . We listened to headsets and she didn’t have to talk (thank goodness at this point). At one point in our journey when someone walked out in front of us and quite a few of us gasped, she turned around shaking her finger at us telling us not to do that.
She acted like she was very annoyed at any interaction anyone had. She surely does not enjoy what she’s doing and should hang her keys up for someone else.
If it helps the company, we did the 1 pm tour.

Awful- No bus came to our stop neither when the tracking told us the bus was passing through stop 6 nor at the scheduled time. We called and they told us that the app was showing that the bus was already several stops ahead, though this was only 5 min after the scheduled time and a long wait. The bus simply didn’t pass through our stop and we were not believed. We requested a refund and the answer was that it’s not possible by phone. They said that only email is the possible route to request one. We’re stuck. Spent a long time in the cold with no bus near the scheduled time.

This tour is overpriced for what it is. In the winter months the buses only run every 90 minutes. We went to get the 10am bus - the first of the day- and it arrived 10 minutes late. Later in the day it was nearly 20 minutes late getting to Hellbrun palace- no point in having a timetable really. The commentary was a bit sparse in places and really did not tell us much about the city

As I waited for reply my email to cancel this ticket but I don't see reply till 9.30 am Salzburg time.
Your hope on hope off tour is not up to Mark & waste of time and money.
All Bus stop has no proper stop no sign .
10 am bus leaves at 10.30 as booking agent keeps selling tickets filling bus.
11.16 am bus came at 11.42 at stop no.6
Half bus stop driver does not stop.
I wanted to get down stop 8 & driver didn't stop took me to stop 1 & wasted my time to go back at stop 8.
You should have proper signage for stop no & hop on hop off sign not flyer pasted on stop.
Also your map is tiny words & hard to read even local people I asked having problems to read.
It's totally waste my money.
Your agent forced me to scan ticket.
Will not use grayline in future.
Your tour company is totally unprofessional.
Will advise tourist to take Salzburg card & not your bus.

I have just had a terrible experience with Hop On Hop Off in Salzburg Austria on April 27 at 12:05p. We spent eur54.00 for 2 adults on the yellow line. We did not get on a single time. When we tried to get on stop 4, we waited almost an hour (from 3 to 4) and when the bus came, it did not even slow down. We did not want to wait another half hour, so walked to the train station. By the time we walked back to the selling kiosk, they were closed. They have not responded to numerous ways of reaching them. I do not want to spend good money chasing a refund because of the international calls from USA. If they are actually owned by Gray Line, what an embarrassment this franchise is to them.
