    Valletta by Foot
Had booked our Tour through Colour My Travel for the 10am one. Unfortunately at the very beginning of the tour my husband became unwell and we couldn’t continue on. After returning to our Hotel,Matthew had contacted his office and they had sent us a really kind message to check up on us and offered us a later time to do the tour which we did. So glad we did as it was a wonderful tour full of lots of history, facts and Matthew has a wealth of information and is very passionate about his skill of retelling the history of Valletta Highly recommend this Tour and Tour Company…

Best Excursion! Do this Trip Early in Your Valletta Stay!
This was our favorite excursion. We regret not having done this on our second day in Valletta rather than our next to the last. Hngile, our guide was extremely knowledgeable in so many areas. We got Maltese food, cooking tips to make some of the dishes, a city walking tour with a history of Valletta, language and cultural influences. It was worth every penny we spent on this excursion! Hngile is also personable and has delved into the history of Valletta and presents interesting and exciting tidbits of information. And the food! Well … it was excellent and plenty of it! You must book this tour with Hngile!

    Fascinating tour with stunning architecture
Fascinating tour with such a knowledgeable, articulate tour guide, Nadine! We learned so much about Malta’s history, culture, and architecture from her. I highly recommend this tour - so much to see, and explained clearly.

    A brilliant half-day tour
We did this tour with a Maltese guide who was magnificent! So much to see, so much history! The cathedral is a must-see, a must-go, so go on a tour with this included in it; you skip the queues there if you do when you go with the tour guide and he takes care of all the ticketing! The interior of this cathedral, of which there is so much, is quite breath-taking! Beautiful, and with decoration on the most incredible level, quite beyond belief! It also houses the most incredible paintings. And, if it your thing, you can visit the clock towers too, and the crypt. You can have a audio guide as most visitors did, but we had our human one who was magnificent. I have not posted any photos here as there are so many already and mine really add nothing to the those showing the tour or the cathedral.

    Super walk around Valletta
While most walking tours are excellent some stand that bit above the rest and this was definitely one of those. With a lot of history to cover Ben was clear and informative throughout and kept the whole tour interesting and fun. He was keen to answer all questions and well prepared with recommendations for other trips and restaurants without simply promoting his iwn tours.

A very informative tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and explained everything very nicely. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who plans on visiting Mdina and Rabat. I believe without the tour we wouldn't have appreciated Mdina and Rabat properly.

Fantastic tour and great way to see the city and get to know things we wouldn’t have known just wandering ourselves. Nadine was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and the tour was well paced hitting all the major stops.

Great time following the red umbrella!
Had visited the Tourist Information office and found this tour was about to start so raced over and were able to join Angela's group on a lovely bright morning. The walking tour covered a lot of ground but with many stops and gave very useful information about the various key sites of interest and of the history of Valletta and Malta generally. Angela was also able to share interesting facts because of her wealth of experience and personal interests. She was also very humorous! We enjoyed our time so much we stayed for the optional cathedral visit and the following day joined her for the Rabat/Mdina tour (which was great too!). We would say this was the most enjoyable walking tour of a city we have ever done, anywhere in the world. Many thanks Angela - keep walking!!

Malta is one of the most magnificent, fortified harbours, not in the Mediterranean, but in the world. Fortifications, walled cities, citadels, towers, gun batteries, unscalable walls four meters thick, moats and carefully sited killing grounds.
Within this harbour fortress they have built the most beautiful renaissance city of Valletta, a jewel of the Mediterranean. There can be no better way for the curious visitor to the city, to understand it’s rich history and it’s architectural treasures than the three hour stroll through Valeta with the “cultural and food walking tour” Nothing too heavy in terms of walking, nor in eating, but intensely interesting and led by a local gourmet historian, with a nice turn of humour.
The food was not up to much, as there appears little distinctive about Maltese cuisine although they do seem to eat a lot of rabbit, possibly to compensate for the low fertility rate of the island. Their fish restaurants though, are quite outstanding.
I thought this was 50 euro well spent, and it will leave you with some very fond memories of your Malta visit

This food tour is an absolute must when visiting Valletta. Ernest was incredible and very knowledgeable, always more than happy to answer any and all questions, food-related or not. It is incredible good value, you get multiple mini meals and drinks over 3-4 hours with a 3-course lunch at the end, combined with a walking tour across the city where the guide would provide very interesting information about the history behind Malta's most unique food and drink items. Highly recommended!

What a lovely tour! Our guide was Ernesto and the tour was extremely informative without being rushed or stressful! We found some lovely restaurants and cafes and were treated to much more food than expected (tip: don’t make our mistake by eating breakfast - you get so much food on the tour). The horse specialty at the end was fabulous and we loved the tuna sandwich at Grano cafe - very much recommend this place!

Paid ÂŁ39.95 for an adult to try out some local meals ( which I was familiar with already) and have some insight of the local street food and culture.
Our guide was very informative. I did appreciate the history and urban legends while walking around Valletta.
For the food we received I think it is overpriced.
Now before you continue reading my review you must understand that I appreciate the southern european straightforward way of talking. What I don’t appreciate is body shaming!
At a point of the tour we arrive to a hook where the story goes that english sailors used to pass through to spend time. Maybe malnourished sailors. At this point the guide asks if anyone wants to try. No one interested as we are all adults and clearly none of us would fit through. Than the guide begins one by one analyzing who would fit through and who wouldn’t pulling faces and making comments.
I did not ask for this and really do not appreciate it. Left after this.
I know it’s a different culture but we are not friendly like that to be measuring each others body up!
Lady please have a good look in the mirror and have a word with yourself. Working with tourists from all over the world you should understand the cultural differences and try and respect them.

We will first answer your comment that the tour was overpriced. How can you judge if you left a long way before the tour was finished? You just sampled around 20% of the food, this leaves you in no position to give an honest review re value because you did not experience it. If you read the reviews of clients who stay on to the end, as it is generally the case, the quality and amount of food on this tour is excellent value for money. We did speak to the guide in question on this tour, she thanks you for your positive comments on her. She was saddened that you did not understand her humour and took it as an offence. When you left the tour early, you told her that it was because it was too much walking for your young son. It’s a pity that you did not tell her the real reason, she would have duly apologized for the misunderstanding and would have turned the joke on her. She does not need to have a look in the mirror, she knows that there is no chance in the world that she could ever wriggle her way through the hook. Best regards City Walking Tours Malta Team

I had never done a walking your before, so chose this one because I thought if nothing else, I'd get fed.

Well, I have to say, the tour was absolutely fantastic. Mirabel was our guide and she had so much knowledge about how the city became what it is today. We were given a pack and ear phone, so you could heat all the information our guide had to offer without missing anything.

The food was a selection of traditional Maltese cuisines spread throughout the tour. I really enjoyed all of them.

Overall, I think this tour was great value for money and a perfect way to learn about Valletta and the wider island. I would recommend it to anyone visiting Valletta.

The guide dealt perfectly with the rain and blustery conditions, and so the poor weather did not impact at all on the quality of the tour. She presented a thorough and in-depth explanation of the cultural aspects ,of the city of Valletta, the people, its history and of course the amazing street food, of which there was more than enough to eat and drink. In addition many of the facts were illustrated by means of pictures, often showing the old and the new. The guide , Marisa, had a bubbly personality, and made sure that every person in the group had their needs met.
We thoroughly recommend this tour, at any time of the year. Remember it does rain in Malta in the Winter and other times, so do check the weather forecast and bring along some waterproofs if necessary.

We did this tour with Ernest as our guide a day ago. The tour, the food tastings and Ernest’s passion and knowledge for his city and its food was outstanding. We learnt a lot about the history of Valletta in a fun way and her food story. At the same time there were sufficient stops to rest up, eat each tasting and introduce oneself to other tourists. Would definitely recommend it.

A heads up - there are lots of tastings so suggest you only eat a light breakfast, make sure you have water, a sun hat and sunscreen in warm weather wear sturdy, closed in shoes as there are sections with steep stairs. Above all be on time.

We loved it and Ernest really made it special.

Marisa was an amazing guide. She told us so much about the history of Malta and always connected it to the great food we tasted on the tour. The restaurants she chose were very authentic and the food just delicious.

This was a fantastic tour that not only provided some great food tasting but also a significant amount of historical background.

The food items were plentiful and were more than we have had on other food tours. We definitely did not need any lunch afterwards!

Great combination of smaller tastes both savoury and sweet, drinks, sandwiches and even a meal at the end in a restaurant.

Our guide was amazing - very knowledgeable and explained a lot of history and cultural aspects about the island and Valletta in an understandable way.

Highly recommend this tour - be sure to do it at the beginning of your stay as it is a perfect orientation to the city. And there were restaurant recommendations shared as well.

This tour served up a generous slice of Maltese and culinary history while introducing dishes and eating spots we might otherwise have passed by.

Earnest, our guide, had a wealth of knowledge of Valletta and wider Maltese history and culture. The tour naturally involves a fair bit of walking, but with generous rest stops on the way - and the chance to meet other visitors from around the world.

We have done a number of similar food tours in other cities and this was one of the best value in terms of the amount and variety of dishes you get to try (on ours we enjoyed a savoury morning pastry, Maltese coffee and biscuits, Kinnie, tuna roll, then a mini three course lunch!) So come hungry!
