About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- nicklorenz130 contributionsMagical trip with intimate groupAntanas was a fantastic driver and guide on today’s South Coast tour! Would highly recommend booking this magical day trip from Reykjavik, as it was our favorite one out of several. The sights are amazing.Written 13 December 2024
- patriciadV7308NX0 contributionsFantastic Private Golden Circle Tour and Airport Transfers! From our pickup at the airport during a nasty storm to our drop off back to the airport, our driver and guide Anton made our week long visit easy, stressless and fun. Anton was always punctual, polite and very informative with lots of interesting facts and stories to share. As a team Vida (who does the bookings) and Anton provided us with a personal and local perspective of the beautiful country of Iceland. Our family took the private Golden Circle day tour and we were able to customize the day with our own itinerary including the geothermal rye bread making- could not have been a better experience. Anton made the whole experience amazing and the communication and instructions from the company were always clear and concise. I would definitely recommend this company for your Iceland tours and airport transfers and look forward to using BTI again when I return.Written 23 November 2024
- xoDV0 contributionsJust perfect!Vida and her team are fantastic! We used Back To Iceland Travel for our airport transfers traveling from Reykjavik to Akureyri. The communication leading up to the trip was quick and responsive and the pick ups were seamless. They offered suggestions as we had 6hr layovers each way; took us to breakfast, around town and to the Blue Lagoon. The bus was clean, new and comfortable. I highly recommend!Written 17 November 2024
- Giorgio D0 contributionsA beautiful and unforgettable sightThe driver, I can tell a lot about him, as he told us a lot about Iceland. Friendly and warm attitude towards passengers. recommend 100%Written 30 October 2024
- Jenksni580 contributionsWonderful day!Booked our tour with South Coast Summer Day Tours, because I wanted a small group, turned out to just being the two of us. Company messaged me to see if a small vehicle would be ok, I said fine with us. Antone our driver picked us up at the hotel at 8 right on time. He was very nice, asked if we needed to be back at a certain time for dinner reservations, which I thought was very considerate. He was very informative, and funny, we had a great day. Being just the two of us, it was perfect, and catered to our needs.A stop for coffee, bathroom break if needed, and lunch in Vik which was excellent. I had looked at a lot of tour companies, and I’m very happy I chose South Coast Summer Day Tours! Thank you Antone for a great day! Oh right he even gave us ponchos to wear to go behind waterfall!, much needed! We loved our trip to Iceland! And you were a part of it!Written 15 October 2024
- Mary A0 contributionsAwesome airport transfer service! We wholeheartedly recommend Back to Iceland’s airport transfer service. The instructions were clear and our driver was easy to spot when we arrived at the airport. We had a delightful drive to our hotel in Reykjavik filled with many interesting facts on the sites we drove by. Our driver picked us up to take us back to the airport after three packed full days and was happy to hear about the time we spent in Iceland. Well done!Written 12 October 2024
- Navigate539816656580 contributionsAirport transportWe used Back To Iceland for transport from our hotel to the airport. They were very helpful. I had hurt myself and wanted to change my pickup time. They were extremely responsive with my request. Picked us up on time, got us to the airport and told me where to find a wheelchair and a quick lesson on navigating the airport. Would definitely use them again.Written 6 October 2024
- P5980UBluciem0 contributionsExcellent tour, amazing nature! This was an excellent tour that me and my family really enjoyed. Special thank you to our guide who was not only very knowledgeable and taught us LOTS about Iceland, but he was also incredibly flexible with us with the time we spent at each spot, since there was no one else on the tour. We really appreciated him!! (I'm so sorry I don't remember his name but he was from Lithuania if that helps). We got safely and comfortably to each of the tour's destinations. The locations were actually not too crowded at all so we felt like we could really enjoy the beautiful nature and views. Every landscape and viewpoint we went to was so beautiful, we will remember our Iceland trip for a long time and a large part of this is thanks to Back to Iceland! :-)Written 29 September 2024
- KBeth000 contributionsGreat day seeing so much of the South CoastThis is such a great route, which we felt encapsulated the best of a lot of other tours we saw that hit some highlights along the South Coast of Iceland. Anton was a great driver and entertained us the entire drive. Highly recommend.Written 11 September 2024
- KBeth000 contributionsGreat day in West IcelandWonderful day out with Anton. This side of Iceland is massively underrated and we had such a nice day out seeing absolutely beautiful waterfalls, fjords and then relaxing at the Krauma Spa which was super nice. It's also much less crowded at least when we were there than the Sky Lagoon I'm sure because of its distance from Reykjavik. In general, would recommend this itinerary for anyone looking to go outside the "typical" tourist destinations and tours offered by so many other companies, this route was exactly as described, unique and would highly recommend.Written 11 September 2024
- eddiey4040 contributionsBack to Iceland Travel - the bestAmazing waterfalls and mountain sceneries, Geysir , views were stunning Great photography All these experiences cannot be done without the Back to Iceland travel and our guide Anton Very reliable , informative and helpfulWritten 7 September 2024

- dailypigeon0 contributionsQuick, efficient, and informativeWe needed an early shuttle to the Keflavik airport, and decided to use Back to Iceland for the simplicity and because we had the family and a family’s worth of baggage. The service has plenty of pick-up spots around Reykjavík, so we walked less than five minutes to the meeting place. The driver was there waiting for us, and our ride was smooth and efficient. We also got to hear some history about the places we passed along the way, and had a nice chat about tourism patterns in Iceland these days. All in all, we highly recommend!Written 22 August 2024
- billfQ5822PC0 contributionsGreat tour that I would do again! The South Coast tour with took with Back to Iceland is one I would do again. Anton was a great tour guide, providing us with information about Iceland and stories that made the day educational and fun! Four waterfalls, Black Sand Beach and a Glacier top the list of sites you will see. We had time to explore and enjoy the scenery at each stop. Anton gave us recommendations on what exactly to see at each stop gave us background on what we would be seeing. Recommend you wear comfortable sturdy shoes as you'll be doing some walking. You'll have the chance to go behind a waterfall for an interesting perspective. You'll likely find rainbows around the falls if there is sun. I would recommend this tour with this tour company to friends and family!Written 21 August 2024
- LadyAlyssia0 contributionsA good transfer companyUsed this transfer company to take us from the airport to our hotel in Reykjavik. Our drive was prompt and friendly. I would recommend this company if someone was looking for a transfer.Written 20 August 2024

We LOVED our tour! Anton was amazing. He was funny, kind, very knowledgeable and really cared for our well being on the tour.
The bus was very comfortable, had WiFi and USB outlets. I am really glad I chose this company because I don’t think the big tour busses are able to give you the same personalized experience that this company can give you.
We saw the main sights, ate some great food, had amazing ice cream on a farm and were able to feed the Icelandic Horses.
Everything was perfect from start to finish.
On the way home we ended up in a blizzard like snow storm and I was worried about the drive home, but Anton is a very experienced driver and managed perfectly through the storm making us feel safe at all times.
I would choose this company 100% again and can only recommend them. Trust me, it’s worth the money.

We used BTI for this and also for airport transfers. It's mostly a two-person operation, an immigrant couple from Lithuania who have made Iceland their new home.
First, the communication was excellent. We had multiple mini-dramas that changed plans, and I always received reply emails very promptly. They were extremely flexible.
We really enjoyed the mix of stops on the Golden Circle itinerary. Unlike most, we started with a 1PM departure time from Reykjavik (in Summer). By the time we arrived at Thingvellir it was almost empty. Very different experience than during peak day. It's worth the short walk up to the waterfall.
The crater at Kerith was nice to walk around. Nothing too challenging.
The tomato spot is obvs a bit of a tourist trap, but still it's impressive to see the massive tomato growing operation in Iceland and the soup was good. Make sure you get some of the bread.
For the transfers it was great. Especially going to the airport with a stopover at Blue Lagoon. She dropped us off and then waited hours for us, staying in the parking lot. So as soon as we were ready to leave for the airport, she was there immediately.

Having used back to Iceland previously with excellent service I was looking forward to taking my sister on the tour in December. Unfortunately COVID-19 meant our holiday was cancelled. I was so impressed that upon notifying we could not travel, I was immediately given a full refund immediately.
Sometimes it’s poor time that shows greatest commitment to customer experience and this was definitely the case!
Thank YOU and I hope you prosper despite the pandemic and I look forward to visiting later...

Anton, our guide and owner of the company, was very flexible and patient in accommodating changes in our schedule. On the day, he was ready and waiting for us with his spotlessly clean and comfortable van. His narration throughout the day was extremely informative as well as humorous, adding a great dimension of enjoyment to our experience of the spectacular sites that we visited. Also impressive was Anton's skill in timing our stops so as to avoid running into any large tour groups, greatly adding to the quality of the experience. Lastly, we very much enjoyed the Sky Lagoon at the end of the day--thanks to Anton for recommending it.
Thanks to Back to Iceland for a wonderful day!

We made our plans without a lot of lead time and found out that the weekend we had in Iceland was busy - hotels were booked up and tours were as well. I had a card for Back to Iceland from a trip my kids had taken 5 years before. I checked their availability online and they were also booked. I emailed to ask if they could recommend another tour company and they replied that they were able to accommodate us for the day we needed. I was thrilled and looked forward to our day of touring.
Anton was at our hotel promptly at 8 am and we started out on the incredible tour of the Golden Circle. His knowledge of the area and the secret spots to stop at was amazing - I learned a lot and enjoyed his sense of humor. We saw some amazing places and were able to spend as much time as we needed at each location. By the time we returned to the hotel, I was exhausted - we'd been to volcanoes, geysers, hot springs, greenhouses, waterfalls, and all the beauty along the way.
I appreciated Back to Iceland for their flexibility, their promptness, their knowledge, and their enthusiasm for the work they do. I'd happily return and do another tour with them!

We booked two private tours with Back to Iceland Travel - the Golden Circle and the South Coast. We had an amazing time and highly recommend them for great service, and reasonable prices.
Anton is a very nice man with a wealth of knowledge about Iceland and a fun sense of humor who informed us and kept us entertained throughout the trips. The mini bus was a modern Mercedes which was very quiet and comfortable, including reclining seats, big windows, charging ports and wifi.
Both tours included stops for snacks and bathroom breaks while keeping the pace to see the many sights along the way. Both tours were amazing full day experiences with the South Coast being a bit longer.
We will certainly use Back to Iceland Tours again and highly recommend them.

Loved our day on the Golden Circle tour with Siggi. We were in a mini bus with just 10 of us. What a awe inspiring day, Iceland is beautiful and we enjoyed the history and stories along the way. We were never rushed, had plenty of time to explore, even when it snowed on us, we had a wonderful day - highly recommend going with this company, a small company is such a nicer experience than a big bus full of people.
They warn you that after seeing Iceland that you catch the disease and you will want to come back to Iceland - it is so true - we are ready to go Back to Iceland!

Great Tour, you are in good hands with Anton. We had a fun day, there were just six of us on the mini bus so we had plenty of time at each stop. Anton went out of his way to ensure that we saw everything we wanted to see and some extra stops as well. It was very relaxed and comfortable. The scenery was spectacular and Anton gave us just so much information to interest and entertain us. It was an unhurried day and I felt that Anton would accommodate any age group. Highly recommend.

This tour was amazing! The minibus was very comfortable and provided power to mobile devices as well as WIFI (extremely helpful when you forget to bring an adapter for your devices like I did). Our tour guide had extensive knowledge of Iceland and shared both facts and stories that made for a fun and educational day. We stopped at 7 stops where we had adequate time to explore and just take in all the sights. The food we were able to purchase on our journey was excellent. Highly recommend the Cinnamon Bun at the first stop (don't eat breakfast before you go) and the Lamb Soup at the Bistro in Gullfoss was outstanding (really recommend you try the local foods).
When we get back to Iceland, we will be booking with Back to Iceland again and will definitely recommend to friends!

Having booked this small group minibus tour ahead of our cruise, we were surprised to find out a couple of days before arrival that we were the only people booked on that particular trip. When we arrived we spotted Anton (our driver / guide) with my name on a piece of paper and he confirmed it was just us and we would be in a car with him. How cool. The real joy of having this private tour was that at every stop we could spend as much time as we wanted - Antanas (Anton) just told us to come back to the car when we were ready to leave each location.
The tour itself was really cool...starting off with a drive through old lava fields and a short stop at a shopping area at Hveragerði where the American and European tectonic plates meet. We took photos where I was in Europe and my wife was in America! We next drove to the Kerið Volcanic Crater where we had some time to explore and take photos. Up next was a visit to the Friðheimar Green House, where we sampled some fresh tomato soup and freshly baked bread. They even had tomato beer and tomato ice cream but we skipped that!
Next up was the immense Gullfoss Waterfall (which we visited before Geysir as the hot spring area looked very busy). After the waterfall we headed back to Geysir to see the hot water eruptions (roughly one every 4 minutes but some bursts were more powerful than others). Next was a stop at the popular Esftidalur II Farm where we saw ice cream being made (and sampled some) and we saw some Icelandic Horses and petted one. Our final stop was the Þingvellir National Park although we asked Anton to swing past the massive cathedral in Reyljavik centre before dropping us back to the cruise port. We were amazed when Anton stopped on a roundabout near the cathedral to rescue a stranded cat, moving the kitty to the pavement and then getting back in the car and carrying on the trip!
It was an amazing day, with a superb guide and the flexibility to take the whole day at our own pace. Huge thanks to Anton and to Back to Iceland Travel for going ahead with our tour despite it being just the two of us. Such a special memory.

We departed Reykjavik around 8:30 and returned at 18:30/19:00. At the beginning of the day, the bus driver asked us whether anyone needed to be back by a fixed time which was nice.

I notice you need change for restrooms.
Firstly, is there not a free toilet at each stop?
Secondly, exactly what coins do you need for 'pay' restrooms in Reykjavic?
Written 24 July 2019
There is a pay restroom at one of the stops that I used. There is also a free restroom at this stop, but the line was HUGE. I chose to pay and get right in rather than wait and waste the valuable minutes I had at the waterfall. It wasn’t much - equaled about a dollar. I paid in krona, but my hubby used credit.

We will arrive on June 06, 2019 at 1:00 p.m by ship Celebrity Reflection. I would like to booking The Golden Circle Day Trip (two people) in this date. Is it possible departure when the ship are arriving? The next day the ship departure at 3:00 pm is it possible to do The Blue Lagoon Excursion or another excursion? Thank you.
Written 19 May 2019
The Golden Circle Day Trip is a whole day activity. I am not so sure how it would fit into your schedule if you are arriving at 1pm that day. Call or email the excursion company. They will be more than happy to make your schedule work. The Blue Lagoon is 15 min the and from the airport. If you are staying in Reykjavik for a full day then you can definitely do the Lagoon. Hi is it possible to schedule the golden circle tour with pickup and drop off to the airport and no hotel stay in the package?
I have an 18 hour layover and would like to see the golden circle but do not want accommodation.

How to reserve Golden Circle Day Trip by Minibus for 30.4?
Written 22 April 2018
Hello,
I've read your additional information and have a query regarding Bookings on the Golden Circle Day Trip by Minibus from Reykjavik.
The 2 people per booking information.....does this mean that solo travellers are unable to book this tour? Or does it mean that you need to have a minimum of 2 people on the tour before the tour will go ahead?
Thank you

Hi, they won't run the tour with just one person. As far as I remember it wasn't possible to even book it online as a solo traveller. When I initially tried to book it online it didn't go through and I think it was because I was the first person and a solo traveller. I emailed the owner of the tour company directly (his name was Antanas - I tried to put his email address here but it wouldn't accept it) and asked about it. He said he'd let me know if he got more people and was running the tour. It got quite close to my going so I ended up booking with another company to start with, then Antanas contacted me to say he was running it and because I wanted a Golden Circle Tour with the Kerid crater I cancelled what I'd booked and then booked with Back to Iceland. I'm glad I did although the other company was good (I did the South Coast tour with them). I'd email directly and say you want to go with them and see what they say. I loved Iceland. You'll have a great time.
