Overview

Escape the crowds and explore Iceland’s secluded southern shore on this 10-hour tour from Reykjavik. In a small group limited to 15, you’ll marvel at natural wonders including the Sólheimajökull Glacier, with its turquoise streams, the obsidian sands of Reynisfjara Beach, and the historic town of Vik. See, too, the Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls and enjoy the convenience of round-trip transport from your Reykjavik hotel. Bringing along your own boxed lunch is recommended.

What to Expect

Commence your tour with hotel pickup in Reykjavik at 7am, when you’ll board a climate-controlled vehicle destined for Iceland’s south shore. Following a scenic 2-hour journey over Hellisheiði lava plateau, you’ll arrive at the mighty Sólheimajökull Glacier: replete with ice caves, crevasses, and turquoise streams.

Then, absorb the obsidian sands of Reynisfjara Beach, flanked by hundreds of black basalt columns reminiscent of Ireland’s Giant’s Causeway.

From here, you’ll proceed to Vik — Iceland’s southernmost town — where you’ll visit Iceland’s only war memorial, the Víkurprjón wool factory, and Vik’s gorgeous red-roofed church.

On the way back to Reykjavik, you’ll stop at the majestic Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls before hotel drop-off at around 5pm.

There is a good food stop on this particular trip when you get to Vik (and we stopped at a petrol station for the toilets and snacks) but the food in Iceland is expensive. I’d recommend bringing a packed lunch and it’s quite... More
