- 207ernier0 contributionsSnow fun, reindeer feeding, husky rideWe had a fantastic time with lunch. The kid's enjoyed most of the activities. Staff was friendly and easy communicate. Husky ride was amazing even a little bit short but great experience for us. I would recommend this company 👍Written 20 March 2025
- 831magnusj0 contributionsEpic adventure in Lapland! The husky safari was the highlight. We made sure to choose an ethical provider, and Apukka’s no-cull policy and well-cared-for huskies made all the difference. Overall, an epic adventure in Lapland!Written 12 March 2025
- Mila R0 contributionsAn amazing experience in Lapland! One of the main reasons we chose Apukka was their commitment to ethical husky safaris. Not all places treat their huskies well, and ensuring high welfare standards was really important to us. We carefully researched and were happy to find that Apukka has a strict no-cull policy, meaning retired dogs are loved and cared for, not discarded. Seeing the huskies in person confirmed everything—the dogs looked healthy, happy, and incredibly well cared for. They were so sweet and cuddly, clearly adored the staff, and when it was time to run, they were bursting with excitement! It was an amazing experience knowing we were supporting a place that genuinely puts their animals first. Beyond ethical considerations, Apukka’s husky adventure was also super well-organized. From a clear meet-up spot and a great introduction, to the sheer fun of the ride itself, everything was seamless. To top it all off, we ended the experience gathered around a fire in a traditional Kota, enjoying a warm drink—a perfect way to soak in the magic of the day.Written 12 March 2025
- NausicaaNL0 contributionsNot for the dare-devils, but nice with childrenWe stayed at the Apukka resort itself, and for us this was a nice way to quickly get introduces to a variety of snow-fun. Yes, it is expensive, and I would not travel all the way to the resort just for this. It mainly caters to children, for adults this is only interesting if you have never been to the snow before. In our group there were children aged 4-8 who enjoyed it very much, and as parents you could also try out stuff without having to worry about the kids. Trying cross country skiing and snowshoeing without having to do a full two hour tour is nice enough with smaller children. The interaction with the huskies and reindeer was more than on our dedicated 'reindeer farm visit', so that was a good bonus. Emilia was our primary guide, and she was very very nice. However, all the other ones were also quick to help out and seemed to enjoy giving out information on Lappish life. The lunch was the lunch buffet in the restaurant, which is not super special, but absolutely a solid meal. My only negative was the fact that we spend quite a lot of money on this activity 'with lunch' and then got charged almost 5 euro for a single glass of apple juice. That was a bit of a let down.Written 21 February 2025
- Madshe0 contributionsAbsolutely awesome experience. What an absolutely amazing experience. We were collected from Rovaneimi city by the bus and arrived about 15 mins later. Very smooth. We were kitted out in their appropriate clothing which was extra warm and ideal. Boots, gloves, socks and full body outfit. Then a balaclava and a helmet. Our guide was Sergio and he was really friendly and helpful. The introduction was clear and he always checked everyone understood. The snow mobiles were out of thos world awrsone! We went across a frozen lake then into a woodland with a little stop for photos and some playing in the snow. There were several quick stops so you could swap with your passenger so they could ride too. The whole Apukka resort is lovely and we stayed after for some sledging and hot chocolate. My 18 and 22 year old said they would rate thos as a 9 5 out of 10. The only reason not 10 is because their legs got cold when sitting at the back of the snowmobiles - but that's their fault for not wearing more!Written 19 February 2025
- Clutt0 contributionsAVOID - Very Disappointing & Overpriced.Very Disappointing & Overpriced - AVOID. Snow shoes and skis on flat ground are boring. Tobogganing was closed and there was only 1 snowmobile at a time. The huskies and reindeers were nice as was the lunch. Our kids had so much more snow and fun sledding for FREE at Angry Birds Park and NaavaCafe in Rovaniemi city centre. We would avoid this tour and look at other ones instead, the resort itself looked impressive. It feels like we were fooled paying so much for so little. It was the only let down of our otherwise amazing trip to Lapland.Written 17 February 2025
- lisabS7684EA0 contributionsAmazing husky safariAn amazing husky experience!! The dogs are well taken care of and very cuddly. The sleigh ride had the perfect length and we both got the opportunity to steer. We got a lot of insights into the huskies and were even able to cuddle some puppies. Also the allround package was super with pick-up, winter clothing and drop-off - highly recommended!Written 3 February 2025
- 421verenah0 contributionsSnowshoeingWe had an amazing tour with Atle. In the forest we got a lot of information about fauna and a lot more. He showed us making fire without matches. It was a great expirience walking also of a frozen lake and we luckyly had stratosphere clouds too and amazing sunrise. Thanks a lot.Written 23 January 2025
- monkeyfeet1550 contributionsRovaniemi SnowtrainSnowtrain safari in the Lappish forest near the Apukka resort is another good winter adventure to try. The excursion includes, guide, winter clothing, snow train ride, hot drink with BBQ sausages. The snow train consists of large cabins with small heaters being pulled by a Snowcat machine that seats about 10 people in each cabin. Couple of things to bear in mind, listening to the Apukka Adventure people who hand out the winter clothing kit, they know what they're talking about to keep warm. You might be lucky and see the Auroras, but no guarantee. The BBQ takes place in a tent/teepee with an open fire, you will also smell like a BBQ at the end of the evening, but worth it!Written 16 January 2025
- benjo20180 contributionsBrilliant snowmobiling tourWhat a brilliant tour with Aime and Allu! They were such attentive guides and they showed us the stunning Finnish forests on snowmobiles. The tour felt really safe, and the kids loved playing in the snow and trying out the mini snowmobiles at the end. Highly recommended.Written 8 January 2025
- PatriceC2490 contributionsGreedy and uncaringHow can one be so greedy ? Prices for excursions at Apukka are among the highest in the whole of Lapland. We had booked and paid for 2500 euros of excursions alone but when our 4 years old son stubbornly refused to go back in the extreme cold of the night (which all the employees are trained to call "exceptional" at all times even though they are the norm in this particularly cold part of Lapland), the Apukka management was even more stubborn at refusing any exchange for the following day. All the while being very nice and smiling of course because they are good businessmen. Do not go to Apukka resort for your excursions, there is plenty of cheaper and more customer friendly competitors in Rovaniemi and there is availability even in the peak days of Christmas.Written 30 December 2024
- DariaDina0 contributionsMisleading rules and empty promisesMy 4 years old son got a split lip and was covered in blood, so my hubby and I asked Apukka adventures representative to rebook our “Horse sleigh ride under the night sky” or offer us any other activity another day because our baby simply could not attend 3h ride with -15C temperature. As a result, we had to wait an hour in the Apukka adventures office for an answer and then we were sent home only to get quite a rude email the main idea of which was that Apukka adventures manager did not consider our injured child was a valid reason for an activity exchange! This is simply socking! We did not even ask for a refund! We asked to exchange an activity in good faith. Moreover, we booked 5 excursions this year and 4 other excursions in 2018. Apparently, over 5000€ spent on Apukka adventures excursions was not enough to offer us a better attitude. Moreover, Apukka adventures employees were almost always stressed and inattentive. There were a way too many customers everywhere (changing rooms, toilets etc). Considering several excursions cost over 1000€ per family (which is a monthly salary of over 70% of Spaniards), it’s completely unacceptable! I suggest you never use Apukka adventures services because the only thing they do well — is sucking your money giving very little or nothing in return.Written 22 December 2024
- singamama0 contributionsGreat experience for the kidsTook the kids. It was quite an experience! Their first time in a sauna and for sure first time in a frozen lake. It wasn't quite the calm, relaxing sauna experience Finns generally have tho I'm sure. Ours involved a lot of shrieking and running about. The water is WAY WAY cold. It makes you so happy to step into the sauna. Steps to the water were incredibly slippery, so be careful!Written 9 December 2024
- ChristinaElviraDahl0 contributionsAmazing experienceI had the most amazing husky ride at Apukka. I joined as a single and ended up going by myself when the other single in 5e geoup backed out. It was thrilling going through all the curves in the forest, learning to use the break and moving with the sled. The guides were clear in their instructions, four different guides offered to take photos of me, so I got at lot of good pictures with me home. The lenght of the trip was fitting - not those short ones, I saw elsewhere, where you only get started and then it is over. Really good service with the schuttle bus from the city center as well (but remember that the bus waits for noone). I recommend this trip to anyone wishing to go sleding with huskies. It was fantastic!Written 21 November 2024

This was a great experience in the Finland forest with about 11 Reindeer pulling 11 sleighs. The experience includes, sleigh ride, guide, hot drink and BBQ sausages on an open fire, and essential winter clothing. The guides are knowledgable and ensure you have fun and stay warm. We were so lucky, the Aurora lights turned up for a photo opportunity. Couple of things to bear in mind, its cold, take note of the advice from the Apukka Adventure Clothing people when they issue you with the kit, they know what they're talking about! The sleigh is not comfortable, you sit on a Reindeer hide on a wooden sleigh, so if you suffer with back problems, this will be uncomfortable. The ride is 30-40 minutes each way. The tent/teepee that you have the BBQ in has an open fire in the middle, you will come out smelling like a BBQ as well, but its worth it.

Fairytale landscape. The sweetest reindeer make the experience unique. Reindeer sleigh ride in Finnish nature. First, a guide explains reindeer and herding life and offers you a hot tea and excellent Lapland biscuits. Activities to try.

We were advised to meet at Santa Claus village bus stop which we presumed was the bus stop in the village. We waited for 40 mins. We contacted company who advised the bus stop was the wrong one and we should have been waiting on main road.
Another family also was waiting with us had the same problem. No offer for another time was given without an extra $640 .. we lost $640 Australian dollars on this all because instruction is not clear, many staff where we are staying say this is a common presumption with this company.

We loved the reindeer sleigh ride. The duration wasn't too short either, it was a real experience. The ride went through the forest and over a frozen lake...beautiful!
Afterwards you can eat very well in the restaurant (lunch buffet, highly recommended).

We were in Rovaniemi and chose the reindeer sleigh. In the morning we were greeted very nicely and brought to the bus by a guide, who was very nice. He came up to you and immediately started talking to you. after that we changed our clothes (we got a snow suit, shoes and gloves) and then we started. we drove with the reindeer through the dreamlike landscape. afterwards a guide named Aleksi told us everything about the reindeer. he was also very friendly and he told the stories funny. you could ask him everything about Finland or the reindeer and u know that he really likes to work with the animals. We were picked up again by the shuttle bus. I would recommend it to anyone it was a wonderful experience and definitely worth the money!

It was a terrible experience. The reindeers we're very distresses and agitated. The Reindeers jolted off together out of control. They turned one of the sledges which was carrying people. The sledge broke. One of the staff members fell. The animals trampled over each other and became entangled.
Clearly the animals we're not prepared or ready to be doing this type of work and it's extremely dangerous for tourists, staff and animals.
4 of us were very distressed and left. Then others followed after another attempt at swapping out some of the animals.
Concerned for animal welfare.

Dear friend,
Thank you for the feedback, it is highly appreciated!
Unfortunately the day of your excursion, the weather conditions were challenging, which caused some distress on our reindeer. As the reindeer are semi-domisticated animals, they actively monitor their surroundings for possible predators. On this day in question, there was a strong wind which caused noises that made the reindeer behave nervously. We understand that it was unpleasant for you.
We are sorry that this tour did not fulfill the expectations.
Hopefully we will see you on one of our adventures again soon!
Wishing you a beautiful spring time!

Excellent journey with our local guide Johani (not sure about the writing, sorry for this !)
The ride was very pleasant, discussion with him and his lovely wife as well and everything was magical.
However despite the recommendation, a couple of tourist in our group didn't respect anything. Noise, music in the sliders, talking over the guide during the explanation. It was really unrespectful and made me crazy at the end ... So please, new rich and rednecks, skip your turn and leave your seat to others. You have nothing to do here.

This was the only best thing at Apukka Resort. The reindeer journey is the longest and quiet relaxing. I did it during the night as well as during the day - both were memorable. Usually reindeer rides happens inside a pre defined path if you do reindeer ride booking and either by yourself or a person incharge. This was a different experience l. The distance is longer and more open than any other reindeer rides in Rovanemi.

This was a nice, calm and slow pace sleigh ride with reindeers. We had a small group. Our guide was great, she knew a lot about reindeers and Lapland nature.
In the middle point we stayed in a tent with a fireplace, drinking hot berry juice and grilling sausages. It was a really nice experience.

friendly staff, excellent organization and once in a lifetime experience. the whole tour is inside the appuka resort, so safe and also good for every age and condition. off course weather is the most challanging thing to consider. may to reconsider a bit the snacks and food . not my taste and more options should be given .
