About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- M3452EHmaryi0 contributionsI highly recommend this tour! What a wonderful day experiencing some of Danish history with Sillus! This was my first trip to Denmark and I came away from the tour feeling that I knew something about the country and it's history! It was a busy but extremely fun day.Written 9 November 2024
- A K0 contributionsHighly recommend this tour!!Kronberg Castle, Frederiksborg Castle, Roskilde & Viking Museum Tour with guide Dea. I would not hesitate recommending this tour to anybody. It was a great way to spend a day outside of Copenhagen. The tour group was small (max 16 people) - this allowed for flexibility if needed, you weren’t waiting on a huge group to congregate and the experience was more personal. Our guide, Dea was all things you want and need in a tour guide; organized, knowledgeable, personable and reliable. She deserves thanks as she made the tour a five star! The sites themselves were all noteworthy. While we could have spent more time exploring a couple of the stops as they were interesting and physically vast we knew upfront the tour was a ‘taste’ and this is what we were signing up for. With more time in Denmark I would certainly revisit a couple of the sites. I highly recommend this tour!!!!Written 14 October 2024
- H511AAbenr0 contributionsBrilliant tour of CopenhagenExcellent tour, would highly recommend! Very informative about Copenhagen, in particular its history, and I felt as though we covered lots without it feeling rushed. Our guide Jens was fascinating to listen to - his knowledge was incredibly deep and you didn’t feel like you were listening to someone reading from a script, which made this an enjoyable experience as well as an informative one.Written 10 September 2024
- barbaragX7374RX0 contributionsEnlightening walking tourThe guide was very knowledgeable about Danish history and culture and about the landmark’s we visited. He also spoke about how the city has transformed since its founding. I enjoyed the small size of the group and how the guide engaged us in conversation about what we encountered. Highly recommend as a way to see historically relevant sites and learn about the city.Written 4 September 2024
- 652phoebeb0 contributionsIf you’re new to Copenhagen, this tour is a must!I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for an introduction into all things Copenhagen. Our tour guide, Jens, had a wealth of knowledge - both on copenhagen and general world history and his stories and facts really brought Copenhagen and the sights to life! The tour covered most of the main sights and any questions we had, Jens was able to answer and more!Written 26 August 2024
- susanrD7041KU0 contributionsPhenomenal TourOur tour was phenomenal ! We were expecting a small group but it ended up being just 2 of us. Our guide was born and raised in Copenhagen and knew the entire history. We learned about all the Christian and Frederick kings, toured the city highlights, saw the changing of the guards (in the perfect location) and fell in love with this city. We will be back.Written 20 August 2024
- Toni W0 contributionsExcellent introduction to CPH and area. The pickup was a nice feature. Thomas, you asked if our hotel had AC - we do not think itThe tour with Thomas through Viator in a comfortable van was an excellent experience. We toured around CPH, Roskilde, ( Cathedral and Viking Museum), Fredericksburg Castle, and the Kronberg Castle. Thomas pointed out so many interesting tidbits, history and much about the Danish culture. He answered all of our questions in English and was very polite.Written 7 August 2024
- Z5483HYjayc0 contributionsPerfect experienceThe best guided tour I have ever been on. The guide was pleasant, knowledgeable, efficient, and professional. It was a pleasure to be around him. Copenhagen is a wonderful city that deserves more time than I had but this tour got the most out of a few hours. I wish I could come back to see more :)Written 29 July 2024
- F3276GIjuans0 contributionsPerfect introduction to CopenhagenThis tour was the perfect introduction to the city. There were only two other people in the group and I definitely prefer that to being in a large group. The guide told us interesting facts but did not overload us with information. We were quite surprised to discover that one of the main buildings had recently burned down. We made it to the royal palace just in time for the changing of the guards so timing wise, it could not have been better.Written 17 July 2024
- S4075RDraphaelt0 contributionsTwo hours very well spentThank you so much for the wonderful tour. The guide was entertaining, fun, and a great host. He showed us parts of the city that we wouldn't have found on our own and shared stories about the Jewish history of Copenhagen that were completely new to us. The history of Copenhagen is even more fascinating than we had realized.Written 15 June 2024
- T2639DHjimh0 contributionsGreat introduction to CopenhagenOne of the best tourist guides we have ever met. Copenhagen has a fascinating history that we would never have learned without it being explained to us. He did that well, kept a good pace, and spoke English perfectly. It was useful that he also pointed out things to do after the walk. Highly recommended as an introduction to Copenhagen.Written 7 June 2024
- elysium280 contributionsGreat experience with Hamlet Tours in CopenhagenTook a tour of castles and palaces with Ross as our guide. Pickup and drop off at the hotel. Ross was very knowledgeable and we visited some astonishing sites (Roskilde Cathedral, Viking Ship Museum, Frederiksborg Palace and Kronborg Castle). Wonderful experience and highly recommended.Written 26 February 2024
- Robbie C0 contributionsGreat tour!We did a day tour with Silas! It was a great tour, he was funny and engaging. Everything was on time and the drives were all less than 1 hour. It felt like a nice mix of guided tour and self touring. Would recommend for sure!Written 30 January 2024
- nicolewP1164RR0 contributionsGreat day!Great day spent with our awesome tour guide, Sillas. He was super fun with lots of knowledge about the stops. The tour was well managed and we did not feel rushed. The recommendation for the lunch place was excellent. We would absolutely recommend this tour to everyone. Excellent guide but not enough time at Viking Ship Museum
Thomas, our guide, was very professional and knowledgeable. We would have rated it a five instead of a four if we had not felt rushed through the attraction, we were most interested in, which was the Viking ship Museum. When we arrived, the museum staff was announcing closure in 25 minutes. we basically raced through and did not get a chance to watch the film, read any of the exhibits, or see the demonstrations. This was very disappointing.
In contrast, there was an over two hours. Stop at the Fredericksburg Castle to allow for a sit down restaurant lunch. There isn’t very much to see in the castle as the castle tour is not guided so it is a lot of paintings on the wall and furniture, etc.
We recommend that visitors be given time to get lunch quickly on their own or bring a picnic lunch, and cut down the time at this castle.

My teenage son and I were lucky enough to take the Grand Day Trip tour with Dea on 8th July 2024. Pick up was really easy and the minibus was very comfortable and modern. This was fantastic way to see so many beautiful and historic places that were outside the city itself. Dea is a great driver and also a fabulous guide and we enjoyed Roskilde Viking Ship museum and cathedral, Frederiksborg Castle and Kronborg. We stopped for lunch at a really nice cafe as well. I felt this trip was great value for money and was an excellent way to see more of Denmark outside of Copenhagen city. Thanks to Dea and Hamlet Tours for a memorable day out.

From start to finish, our trip was an great experience. Our guide, Benji, was so nice and his storytelling was excellent. He had an abundance of knowledge about each of our stops from the Roskilde Cathedral to Fredricksborg and Kronborg that painted a perfect picture as we meandered through each place. I believe they max the groups at 15, but ours was a bit smaller and the intimate group made the trip all the better. 10/10 would recommend this day tour to anyone visiting Copenhagen and looking for a laid back and insightful tour.

On April 26, 2024, my wife and son planned a full day tour with Hamlet Tours, to visit castles and the Viking ship museum. The cost was nearly $500.00 but we felt it would be worth it, since this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit Denmark for a short time. We made reservations, got repeated updates about the tour and directions as to where to meet the tour van, at a street location in Copenhagen. Following breakfast we arrived at the tour pick-up spot and awaited arrival of the van. When the van arrived, there were only two seats available for the three of us. The van driver, initially uncooperative, believed we were in error. Eventually he realized we were not the issue, that it was a company foul up. He was then helpful enough to call the company and try to convince them that we indeed had three reservations for the tour. Sadly, the company provided no assistance whatsoever. After delaying all the passengers on the van awaiting their tour, we were told that we could not go. We asked if the company would make arrangements to honor our reservations and provide alternate transportation to the sites, or provide a larger van. All efforts to secure our tour met with negativity. Subsequently, embarrassed, and rather humiliated in front of other passengers, we were unceremoniously left on the unfamiliar sidewalks of Copenhagen in rainy weather to fend for ourselves. So much for our once in a lifetime trip. Apologies eventually followed, falling on our deaf ears. Beware of this company, and plan carefully. They are a big waste of time and money and unreliable.

A full day exploring four amazing sites around the Copenhagen area. Chris was an excellent guide, blending historical commentary with humor throughout the tour. The planning team was dynamic as well; due to the church service being in session on a Sunday morning they reversed the order of our trip to ensure we were able to see the inside of the church in the afternoon. The time we had at each site did seem a little rushed at times but understand it was necessary to stay on schedule to see all four sites in a single day. This actually worked out well as we were able to pick our favorite spot and return the next day on our own for a more relaxed and slow-paced visit. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to get your 10k steps in; was also important to take a light jacket or hoodie (in May) as it was warm in sun but cool in shade and when wind picked up. Well-priced for the experience and service we received - included admission to all sites.

We had an amazing time with Sillas on this tour and we highly recommend it. I wish we could have stayed a bit longer at a couple of the sites, but we were on a tight schedule and there was lots to see. Sillas made the tour entertaining and informative, with lots of insight on each location as well as the history of Denmark and the Danish people. We really loved Kronborg Castle, and the dungeon is a must do, but what stood out to us was the love that Sillas had for Sweden and the people of Sweden. Sillas spoke very fondly of the people of Sweden, which was great because it was next on our tour of Scandinavia. This is a great tour with lots to see and do, and was well worth it all the way around.

Took the Grand Day Trip Around Copenhagen tour with Sillas as our tour guide. Sillas picked my wife and I up promptly at our hotel as scheduled. Tour bus was clean and comfortable. Sillas’ narration during the tour was informative and engaging, with some comic relief along the way. Each stop was interesting and worth visiting. It was a day well spent touring just outside of Copenhagen, getting to view interesting sites just outside of the city limits. At the conclusion of the tour, Sillas dropped each member of the tour in front their respective hotel. No need for any additional walking. I highly recommend Hamlet Tours.

Perfect tour for seeing multiple places in one day! Just keep in mind that the pace is a bit quicker for time reasons, as the stops are located a distance from each other. Our guide, Thomas, did a wonderful job of helping us get the most out of every stop. He is very knowledgeable and clearly loves history and storytelling! We would highly recommend requesting him for your tour if possible. The mini-bus we travelled in was also very comfortable and there was water provided. We had an amazing time!

Andrew was so enthusiastic about the tour and Danish history that it was impossible not to have a good time. This tour allowed us to accomplish the "Zealand Blitz" as recommended by Rick Steves without the stress of trying to time our day with public transportation. As a bonus, Andrew gave excellent, well-organized presentations between sites that really brought Danish history into the context of these famous locations. Andrew also gave a memorable guided tour of Roskilde with lots of hidden gems. What is more, Andrew, I will never forget your review of Shakespeare's famous plot! It made Kronborg Castle a delight. What a day and what a great value!

Although my wife can walk short distances, I often push her in a wheelchair when there are any distances or prolonged walking. Can this van carry a fold up wheelchair? Is this tour suitable for me to push her in a wheelchair during the tours?

Im so sorry your question has escaped my attention.
Not sure if its still relevant yet the answer is (There are two or three different operators. The booking we did did not clarify the spot to board from its a circular route, by the time we found it was 11 am. better to approach a tourist information center for precise details.

We(there will be 4 adults) are arriving at the cruise port. Can we be picked up there with our luggage? By the time we get to our hotel at the airport, which is where we would like to be dropped off, it would be too late.

Would you be able to recommend a nice, inexpensive hotel near the meeting place? Are there restrooms on this tour? Do we need to bring local currency for things like tips? What is the weather like in September?
Written 13 June 2022
The bus can pick you up at any hotel in the downtown area, but hotels tend to be expensive in that area. I’d recommend you go to their first meeting place, Tivoli Gardens bus park, via subway. I stayed in a B and B.
Restrooms are available at each stop. Tipping is not necessary anywhere and the weather in Sept should be mild and perfect for sightseeing.
Enjoy your trip!

I would recommend opting for the hotel pick up which you can arrange prior to the tour. I chose a nearby “landmark” hotel as I was a solo traveler staying in a hostel for my trip.
