- DarylH7340 contributionsGreat day tripWas a great trip. Was a long ride there and back on the bus, but can’t be avoided. Eleni was a GREAT tour guide, very knowledgeable, fun, and interesting. Weather was good. And Meteora and the monasteries were amazing. A once in a lifetime experience.Written 24 December 2024

- Jet108237565050 contributionsMagnificent trip to MeteoraA trip to Meteora is definitely a must if you are in Greece! The trip from Thessaloniki may have taken 3.5 hours there and 3.5 hours back, but what was hidden at the finish line was breathtaking! Meteora exceeded my expectations from the photos, as this magical place is even more fascinating in person. The experience you take away from this place is indescribable and I definitely recommend everyone to take this trip with Ammon Express. Our very nice and sympathetic guide Eleni told us the history not only about Meteora, but also about Thessaloniki and all the important places we passed along the way. She was willing to give advice, take pictures and was a very pleasant guide. The bus driver, Ilias, was a real pro, taking us safely up the serpentines and then driving us back to Thessaloniki in peace. I will take away an experience of a lifetime from this trip and would definitely recommend it to others!Written 14 November 2024

- karenernst0 contributionsBest guide in Greece! The guide, Margarita, is truly a gem! I took several trips with her because she was so fantastic!!! I still think back to her kindness, knowledge, enthusiasm and passion for this trip! I even took it twice with her to see almost all the monasteries. She went out of her way to really go above and beyond to make my stay amazing! It was be of the most memorable times of my non-stop Greece adventure that a month later I am finally coming back to write about how wonderful my time was! 💕🙏💕Thank you again for everything!!!Written 7 November 2024

- ShacharLosh0 contributionsGreat day trip to MeteoraHighly recommend Ammon Express' full day trip to Meteora. Even though we had to make a last minute change, Evdoxiadis Themis changed our tour via whatsapp. Our guide Eleny was knowledgeable and interesting. Our driver Thomas did a great job. It was a comfortable bus ride and a beautiful and fascinating trip.Written 30 October 2024
- RetSmog0 contributionsExcellent introduction to local tastes and markets.Constantine (Megas) was an excellent guide. Gave some interesting information and shared the tastes of her home town. Don't eat too much in the morning before you take this tour, there's plenty to eat on this tour. This is a nice relaxed stroll around the markets so most people would manage it easily. Amazing that there are so many markets so close together. Well worth the time spent.Written 30 October 2024
- RetSmog0 contributionsNot to be missedSuperb exhibition at the Royal Tomb. All in all a busy day with 2 museums plus the Royal Tomb, and the option to walk 15mins uphill to the site of the Royal Palace. Experienced and knowledgeable guide leads you thru Hellenic history and sets you up for the site visits.Written 29 October 2024
- columela0 contributionsLooking close at historyThis tour has been probably the highlight of my trip to Thessaloniki this year. The tour allows you to visit the ruins of Pella and Aigai, plus the archeological museums and the Royal tombs of Macedon. It takes around 8 hours. Our guide for the day, Mr Lazarus, was very approachable, had a sense of humor and gave us quite detailed explanations to help us place the findings in the right historical context. The time allowed to see the ruins and museums was adequate for us. I would have liked 10 minutes more in Pella but it was enough to see most of the place. Even if you are not keen on ruins the royal tombs of Macedon are breathtaking. Only comparable to Tutankhamen tomb in Egypt IMO. We had lunch in a nice, simple taverna which was inexpensive and willing to serve quickly. I learnt a lot, and it was a great companion to the visit to the archeological Museum in Thessaloniki .Written 27 October 2024
- columela0 contributionsGreat day out if you are in ThessalonikiA great opportunity to visit a magical place without the hassle of driving. The guide was very informative and friendly. A long trip by road but it was quite bearable . My fovourite was the panoramic stop. The whole tour semis well organised and punctual.Written 25 October 2024
- W6958XMmichelleh0 contributionsPellas & VerginaWe really enjoyed our day out to Pellas & Vergina. The guide was really knowledgeable, the museums and sites very impressive and a comfortable and easy journey. We would have liked about 45 minutes more in Vergina for a late lunch, as we didn't have enough time to eat as there was so much to see! I will definitely be back to try some other tours, as the staff are friendly and passionate about their country, and the tours well organised. Great day out.Written 24 October 2024
- Elvisburton20220 contributionsWell worth a visit, views are stunningIf you are visiting Thessaloniki for a few days, this trip is worth going on. It’s quite a long way but a comfort stop is included halfway and enough time to get a drink and snacks. The guide was excellent giving lots of info about the history of Thessaloniki in general and about the monasteries. Visits inside 2 monasteries was enough and cheap to get into. The views were amazing both from the coach and the monasteries. A stop was included for photos with the mountains and monasteries as backdrops. Lunch was at a local restaurant which was nice but quite pricey. Overall, the trip was good value and really enjoyable.Written 20 October 2024

Enjoyed this trip and both locations were worth exploring.
When we arrived at Pozar thermal baths it was a fair bit cooler than in the city so consider packing an extra layer if it's outside of peak summer (we visited early October). There are three pools you can use, each costing €3, though I can't see you'd necessarily want to use more than one (there are two hot pools next to the river and a third proper swimming pool that's heated by the same water. We just used one of the pools by the river which was very relaxing).
It was a bit busy when we arrived (on a Sunday) so there was a queue for tickets and the pools were quite full. We therefore decided to follow the path away from the pools into the woods beyond where there are some lovely views of the river and its falls, without the crowds. Well worth doing this for some peace and quiet in the gorgeous natural surroundings and there are some very 'grammable photo opportunities!
Within the two hours here there's easily enough time to follow the path to the quieter parts whilst also getting some time in one of the hot pools. As others have said the changing facilities and toilets here are a bit basic and in poor condition but they just about do a job.
The second part of the tour taking in Edessa was really nice and we took the decision to grab takeaway food (gyros, naturally) instead of sitting down for lunch so we'd have more time to explore which I'd definitely recommend. Otherwise we'd not have had time to fully enjoy the epic waterfall and surroundings below.
The city itself is really pretty with water everywhere and the grand waterfall is the pièce de résistance that you can enjoy from multiple angles, including walking right behind it. There's also a small cave you can pay €1 to enter though there's not a lot in there and it doesn't go anywhere so it provides about 2 minutes of entertainment which I'd probably recommend avoiding unless you REALLY love caves.
We finished our time in Edessa with a beer sat at the bar next to the top of the waterfall, enjoying the view. We had just enough time to grab some food in the town centre, explore the waterfall from top to bottom, see the little tiny cave and then finish with a drink before heading back. Obviously if you have a sit down meal you'll have less exploring time but not everyone will want to do all the steps up and down for the waterfall, and they do get quite slippery down at the bottom.
Our guide, Nico, was a friendly and personable chap and the coach was comfortable enough, with adjustable air conditioning. The journey to the baths took two and a half hours, then after two hours there it was about 45 minutes to Edessa, where we got another two hours before heading back with a final two hour journey. Given the amount of traveling I'd definitely recommend bringing some entertainment with you for the journey, although the scenery is very pleasant, and you can see mount Olympus in the distance for most of it.
All in all a very enjoyable day out with some spectacular scenery.

Great trip, would definitely recommend. Margarita was a lovely tour guide, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
After meeting at 8am we went to the Pozar hot springs first, arriving about 10am. There are two natural spring pools there and a man-made swimming pool. One of the natural pools was being repaired when we were there, but the one that was available to use was great. The pools cost 3 euro each per person to go in so I’d recommend taking change with you. They do have a card machine but it’s a bit slow so you’ll be able to get into the pools quicker if you have change. I’d also recommend taking your own towel (costs 1.50 euro to hire otherwise). They have good changing facilities and toilets there so you can either go in your swimwear or in normal clothes and get changed. We went in swimwear and then got changed after as you don’t go in the water for the rest of the day after that point. There are also a few cafés, restaurants and tourist shops at Pozar. We had two hours there so it was plenty of time to enjoy the pools, get changed and have a look around.
At 12 we then left Pozar and went to Edessa, arriving about 1pm. We had 2 hours in total there. We stopped at the waterfalls and Margarita showed us around and very kindly took some photos of us. The waterfalls were stunning! There is also a small waterfall cave you can look in (1 euro entry). We then had some time to have lunch at a restaurant Margarita recommended. I was glad we followed her recommendation, very nice authentic food, slightly pricey but it was actually quite a fancy restaurant and had incredible views so well worth it. I shared a selection of 4 starters with my partner and had a couple of drinks instead of having mains and our bill came to about 30 euro. After lunch we had some free time so took Margarita’s recommendation to walk around Varosi (about 5-10 mins walk from the waterfalls). I would highly recommend exploring there. We then met back at the bus at 3pm and made our way back to Thessaloniki, arriving at 4.30pm.
The bus we were on was a very comfortable large coach, fully air conditioned.

I had seen 2 reviews that complained that it was just "lukewarm." So I was worried in spite of most reviews being very positive. Especially when March isn't a hot month.
I was pleasently surprised my wife chose the midsized natural pool which i also wanted. I didn't have a thermometer, but the water felt close to body temp and the air bound streams falling into the pool felt even warmer. We were probably in the pool close to an hour. If you go on weekends when there are lots of people you may be limited to 20-30 minutes.
Make sure you carefully go down the underwater steps. You may think you've reached the last step, until you after over a meter find one more!
In case you wonder "is the stream beside the pool is warm?"; it's not.
The guide was good. But if you sit in the back of the minibus it will not be easy to hear.
The recommended restaurant at the waterfall was very nice and not high priced.
We were very pleased with everything (and the weather was good too)

Thank you for sharing your detailed experience! It's great to hear that you and your wife had such a pleasant time, especially given your initial concerns about the temperature. I'm glad to know the midsized natural pool was warm and inviting, and that you enjoyed a relaxing hour in the water. Your tip about the underwater steps is very helpful for future visitors.
It's also good to hear positive feedback about the guide, though it's a shame that those in the back of the minibus might have trouble hearing. The recommendation for the restaurant is much appreciated as well, as it's always nice to find good quality dining options that aren't too pricey.
Overall, it sounds like you had a wonderful experience, and your insights will surely help others planning their visit. Thank you again for sharing!

The tour was ok, nothing exceptional, nothing really bad either. The tour guide is friendly, but not very knowledgeable. Too high the price for the quality you get (tour guide + private bus, all other costs are extra to you...yes, also the entrance to the thermal baths).
Why I'm writing this bad review is rather the fact that I took this tour and not the Mount Olympus tour I was booked on. The evening before my tour I received a phone call from Ammon Express stating the Mt Olympus tour couldn't go due to snowfall and the road being closed off. Strange, since the day before my hostel called them to ask if it would be possible to do the walk in Enipeas canyon, since that's why I wanted to book. No problem at all apparently, so I was pretty surprised to know they let me book it, to then cancel it a day later? Rather than cancelling, they want to put me on another tour: Meteora (already going independently) or Pozar thermal baths. I thought, why not the last one, I know it has been hard on most companies during the COVID pandemic and I could use some relaxation. I took the tour today and got chatting with a lovely German couple who, guess what, took the Mount Olympus tour (yes, the one I had booked and couldn't go on due to it being cancelled) in a small group. So small it could be taken in a normal car, which makes me assume is the reason I needed to change my trip, in order to not have to book a bigger vehicle and lose out on money. Working myself in tourism, this is in my opinion what has happened. I have blatantly been lied to by Ammon Express, which pisses me off incredibly. Was the Pozar tour ok? The baths where fine and relaxing, but I would never have picked this tour myself. In stead of giving me the option to choose, they've decided for me. I will not recommend this company and suggest you to think twice if you'd want to book with them.

Thank you for taking the time to write this detailed review.
We informed you that we had to reschedule your reservation due to bad weather conditions.
There was snow on Mt. Olympus and we could only sent a car for this tour.
Other people rescheduled or got a refund as well, for this reason.
Our priority was the safety of our costumers.
You agreed in changing your reservation, we offered to give you a refund.
We are sorry you feel this way about this situation.
We hope to see you again in the future with a tour to Mt. Olympus.

Although it was raining, we really enjoyed the trip to the Pozar Thermal baths and then Edessa waterfall. The bus driver Dimitrios did an amazing job driving in the wet conditions and we felt very safe. Eleni our tour guide was wonderful - very organised and caring with a lot of knowledge of the areas we visited. We loved bathing in the thermal baths. The water was warm and relaxing. There were change rooms and lockers nearby. The Edessa waterfall was amazing. You can get close up and even behind the waterfall. Lots of opportunities for great photos. Would highly recommend this tour. Booking with Ammon Express was easy to do online.

We're glad you enjoyed the warm and relaxing thermal baths with convenient facilities nearby, and that the Edessa Waterfall provided amazing photo opportunities, including getting close and behind the waterfall.

There was heavy rain the night before & consistent rain the day of the trip which completely ruined the experience. Quite honestly, it should of been canceled. Only the big pool was open & we couldn't even get a peek at the other thermal springs. My clothes & shoes got soaked and we spent the entire afternoon sitting in some restaurant. There was no interest in going to the waterfall so essentially, I paid 55Euro for a swim... Most expensive swim of my life! Not the guides fault (Elise)... She also thought the tour should of been canceled.

Thank you to Eleni who was a great tour guide. :)
The only issue was the place itself which had nothing to do with the guided tour as the coach and information was very pleasant.
The thermal baths have very poor facilities (bad toilets, broken lockers and changing rooms) and you need to pay for each pool. Very inefficient beurocracy and ticket systems, but nevertheless I'm glad I went and it was a really nice trip! Just bring your own towels and don't bring valuables

Dear Sofia,
Thank you very much for your 5 star review.
We are glad that you enjoyed your day trip to Pozar and Edessa.
As for Eleni, she is indeed a very good guide.
We hope to see you again in the future.

Complete waste of a day. It’s absolutely tiny. What you see in the photo with the love sign, that’s it. Nothing else.
It’s about the size of a double decker bus in total. Our local swimming pool is three times the size, it’s packed, pointless and just soooo not worth the 100km trek to see it.
The private pools are pretty disappointing too. We tried number 8. It’s just a latge hot tub area with warm water, nothing to see.
Honestly, so under whelming. I took the “ I love P” sign selfie and was like, right, that’s done! Let’s go.
Limited lockers, over crowded, small, and just kinda pony. Give it a swerve my friends.

Very clean coach with AC, and the journey was smooth with the tour guide providing information about various places as we made our way to the Pozar thermal baths and the Edessa waterfall. The pools at the thermal baths were stunning, but it's worth noting that there was an entrance fee for each pool. Changing rooms with hairdryers were available, which was convenient. The site itself was beautiful, and we truly enjoyed our visit. The waterfall in Edessa was a breathtaking sight, and the views there were lovely. We had a delightful lunch at a charming restaurant right next to the waterfall. Overall, no complaints - I highly recommend this tour!

Pozar waters is a phenomenon... Great family experience...get the 3 euro entrance and spend all day in the pools naturally heated. Next to you the pool might be freezing etc... Spent the day with family.

Hi!
I am going to stay in Thessaloniki from Saturday to Monday next week!
Do you pick us up at our stay or hotel for the tour? If so at what time do you drive from Thessaloniki? I want to plan so i need to know exactly.I don't find this information anywhere. I only find that it says 4.30 in the evening?

Hi ,
is there a bus { public transport ) to Pozar from Thessaloniki and if yes where does the bus start from in Thessaloniki ? How much is the ticket price ? Does the bus pass through Aridea ? Are there thermal baths in Aridea or they are only in Pozar ?

Hello is this place worth visiting end of December or will it be too cold?
Written 18 September 2019
Water at thermal baths would be warm but I believe the temperature outside the water would be cold. It is still worth a visit since locals swim all year round at the thermal baths. And scenery is beautiful
