Quick spur of the moment trip - well worth it.
Thoroughly enjoyed the trip, the guide was pleasant and helpful. Make sure you take water as there is a lot of walking and it can be very hot. Option to swim and thoroughly enjoyed the trip, would recommend.

      Safety concerns, avoid
A friend of mine drowned on this. Due to the lack of safety provisions and total negligence of the boat crew, he drowned in front of his family.

      Awesome value!
This looked like a nice short trip... It was sensational. 15 mins to the island - nice and quick and safe. Then a great walk up the sides of the volcano. It's not a bubbling mass of lava, but there are gas clouds occasionally. The views are magnificent, and excluding the first 300-ish metres it's pretty easy. Once you've had a look it was off to the thermal pools for a swim. Again, this was nice and refreshing. Then about 20 mins back to the old port. Easy! Very relaxing easy to spend a few hours.

      Be prepared
This was a larger group tour which is meant for a either more physically active person or the young. It was great for me and my husband we are 33 & 36. The tour guide was fun and informative he let you know 100% in advance what your getting yourself into. We stopped by The hot springs which you do have to swim to they gave us pool noodles and since the water is so dense with salt you are very boyant. It is more like a mineral cool bath the springs are not hot. Which also was fine for us. The boat left on time and was pretty full. It had a bar on top with reasonably prices items. (I'm from CA, USA so everything is reasonably priced). I would recommend the tour to someone you wanted to see the volcano and is moderately in shape. Bring water we brought 2 1 liter bottles which was just enough.

      Take the 3 hr cruise!!
The 3 hr is Great! This trip was NOT crowded. No lines at the cable car at 9:30 to go down. Time for a coffee while waiting to board boat. Went to Volcano, with time to hike (or not!) Then to Hot Springs. You could jump off boat or climb down a ladder (or not swim). Then back to port. Great to experience Santorini from the water view without being a whole day ordeal! Back in time for a shower and Siesta before dinner!

My husband died due to no help from the crew
Our famiy of 4 came to Santorini to celebrate our older daughter's college graduation. On the 2nd day arriving this island, we signed up for this tour. During the hot springs swimming, my husband was having trouble in the water and swam really fast and not moving forward. I quickly came to the female crew and asked for help. She did not offer any help. Instead, she asked me: "what is he doing?" I said: "he is in trouble because he is swimming fast on the same spot and not moving forward." She then blamed him not taking the noodle into the water and still did nothing. Then I saw my husband struggled to do whatever he could to swim to a nearby rock. However, I think either he lost the stength or the rock is too slippery to hold on; he soon collapsed. Then I heard a passenger swimmer yelled for help from other swimmers to try to rescue my husband. But it was too late. I then heard: "he is not breathing" from the shore. My heart sank. My brain went blank.... The rest is as the other reviewers said.......

You’re at your own RISK when taking this trip
Terrible and no training staff on site doing nothing to help a drowning guy. So sad and traumatized for the family to watch their loved one die.

      Excellent tour!
Excellent tour! This was our highlight in Santorini. They have a lower covered deck and an upper uncovered deck. We skipped the volcano hike but did dive in for the warm springs. The water is quite cold, but warms up a little in the springs. There are washrooms (which were very clean) that can be used to change into/out of your swimsuit (bring a dark towel and the sulfur does stain white towels). The food was very good, and the sunset was excellent. After the sunset, Caesar taught us the traditional Zorba Greek dance and everyone had loads of fun. What a memorable experience! It was our last day in Santorini and a great way to wrap up an amazing trip!

Negligence, unsafe- do not take this trip
The worst experience of my life. A man on board died on our trip. Something happened in the water, and he was found unconscious. It was the efforts of the other passengers to save him, who attempted CPR. The ship crew did nothing; when the “medic” named himself, he said “what do you want me to do” to which we replied, go to the man who needs help - he said “I can’t leave my ship” The other passengers took charge, trying to save the life of Carl while his two daughters and wife had to watch. He unfortunately did not make it. Had there been medical equipment or anyone with medical training, perhaps this man would not have died. Perhaps that wife and two daughters wouldn’t have watched him die The crew never said a word, never addressed it - we all got off the boat at shore with not a word. This was negligence, horrific. Do not take this trip, should an emergency take place, you will not be safe

      No safety or emergency protocol
This started off as a great tour. The hike up to the volcano was lead by a very knowledgeable guide who was very nice. Great views and cool to see the smoke coming from the volcano. Our next stop was the hot springs, a very pretty spot. We enjoyed our swim there. Sadly, just as our time there was complete, another guest had a medical event and other guests shouted for help. Other guests performed CPR, my son in law and son swam to main boat for help and screamed for a life raft which they swam to the location. No one from the shop was willing to help. It took 45 minutes for a medical boat to arrive. Unfortunately the man passed away but it was extremely sad for all the guests to not only witness but to try and rescue this poor man with no safety equipment being on board or offered. Other tours usually have a staff in a zodiac monitoring guests while in the water and some protocol for emergencies. We all felt so bad for his family who watched this and guests who stepped up to help. We know bad things can happen but it was the lack of emergency procedures and equipment and a lack of assistance from any staff that made it so much worse.

Great trip to see the volcano on the boat. The boat wasn’t crowded and the guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Santorini. The hot springs wasn’t much though

Book elsewhere - lack of care and safety
I strongly DO NOT recommend and advise against booking with this company. They do not have the safety and well being of customers in mind and it is completely ridiculous. In the hot springs a man had an incident in the water (we don’t know exactly what happened) and people called for help. There were several trip-goers nearby who immediately jumped into help and began doing CPR. However, the crew from the company did absolutely nothing, were completely passive and complacent. They had no safety/emergency protocol and also showed a complete lack of care for the man or the other people who were trying to help the man. It was as though they threw their hands up and said they couldn’t do anything. It was only because a few of us yelled at the workers to do so something that they finally put a stretcher in the water for the man. Very sadly, the man passed away. It was very upsetting to see the workers of the company not take charge in the situation to help the man or the trip-goers involved. If your family or loved ones ever needed help I would absolutely NOT trust this company to look out for you. Do not book with them.

      Great afternoon!
Plenty of time to hike the volcano, which was incredible! Also lots of time to swim at the hot springs. They were cold at first, but when you reach the hot springs, they were actually warm! It was a great afternoon! Crew was great and we had a lot of fun. Tip- you have to get down to the Old Fira Port. So be prepared to wait in long lines for the cable cars or to walk A TON of stairs.

Warning the boat is not suitable for people with motion sickness. I went at the start of June and the waters were rough and the boat rocked a lot. The boat was also a bit overcrowded and it was hard to find a seat. The crew were lovely though and offered a helping hand whenever necessary. There's a small bar in the boat which offers snacks and drinks for a reasonable price. I remember a 500ml bottle of water being 50c.

The scenery at the volcano was quite nice however to get to the volcano it does require a 30 - 40 minute hike uphill, so if you're not into hiking I wouldn't recommend.

We only stopped at the hot spring for 30 minutes and it's only really suitable if you're a really good swimmer since you will have to swim about 15 metres to get to it and the waters were really deep.

Thirassia was a lovely little island and they stop for 2 hours so you can get a nice little lunch there at the port by the sea. However, to get to the little village on top of the cliff it requires you to climb up 500 steps. There's not much to do on the island, the village is all residential and there's only one little souvenir shop at the port.

We got the pickup service and I do highly recommend it if you arent driving a car of your own. The bus was late but other than that both pickup and drop off went quite smoothly.

In all, it was an ok experience. If you're into hiking and swimming I would recommend this tour, however it isn't for me and I wouldn't do it again.

Beautiful boats, interesting excursions at the volcano, knowledgeable multilingual guide, pleasant swimming, nice lunch at Thirassia. Weather was very windy, so it was not hot during the volcano hike. Also due the the windy weather we had to change our swimming stop from hot springs to calm bay with sunken ship and it was better as the water was crystal clear and I could see the ship and fishes during swimming! I think it is much better than sulphured dirty waters at the hot springs site. At Thirassia I’d recommend to have a lunch at Tonia tavern. There is no any beaches with any service but there is place where you can swim and see some fish and sea urchin! Or alternatively you can go up to the Thirassia town, but there is not so much time and it is better to spend it for lunch and enjoy the beautiful harbour! Recommend this tour to everyone who likes sea, boats, volcanos, hiking, islands and mesmerising view of water flow from the boats deck!

The afternoon / sunset tour with Caldera Boats was exactly what we were looking for. The two-master Princess is a comfortable boat, you sit on wooden benches that run along the railing or even on tables. A drink or snack can be ordered from a small galley at any time. Our tour guide Konstatinos did a really great job. He was attentive and friendly to his guests, which was also true for all the staff on the boat.Konstantinos was constantly giving interesting details about what we saw and was always happy to answer any question. The tour leads to the volcano Néa Kaméni with ascent on foot to the crater (good shoes, no flip-flops!), to a swim at a warm sulfur spring near the small chapel of Agios Nikolaos, and visits the island of Thirassia, where you can jump again into the water, this time in the azure blue sea. With a offered snack and a glas of vine we chugged towards Oja, where we experienced from the boat a unique sunset. This excursion is good value for monney!

Me and my wife enjoyed pretty much the experience, we went to the volcano peek Wich has amazing views of the islands, the hot thermal springs that are very pleasurable to stay, and the thirassia port that has an astonishing view for lunch.

Tip: strongly recommend taking the cable car to get to the old port and back to Fira (costs 6 euro per person, per trip). On our way down we opted on going by foot trough the long stairs (20-30min) but that is ok, the biggest problem was the HUGE stink of donkey feces and urine trough the way down, almost like a mine field game where you need to watch carefully your steps.

This is a great day out (10.30am to 4.30pm), with a little cruise along the coastline from Oia back to Fira. TIP - if you buy a mobile/digital ticket, you still need a hard-copy to hand to the ship's staff when you board (for safety). Hence, when you get to the old Port (aim to be there by 10am), queue in the office to get a hard-copy before joining the main queue. It's also better to buy tickets from the travel company (Santos Travel), as we paid Euro 30 per ticket, which is really good value.

This was a great excursion! We went the last week of October and the water was still plenty comfortable (chilly at first but quickly got used to it). Some reviews recommended water shoes, but we went without them. There are a lot of rocks as the water gets shallow but they were smooth (we swam on our stomachs and felt with our hands after hitting our feet/legs on rocks). I’d recommend wearing your swim suit under your clothes as there’s only 4 bathrooms on board. Be prepared to get off the ship and start moving as soon as the tour guide is ready to go. They give you just enough time to follow along and see everything before it’s time to get back on board. We had just reached the hot springs before the ship called us back; so while there’s enough time to do everything, make good use of your time. We decided to take the hike up to the small town on the island. It only took us about 15 minutes, but it was pretty strenuous. The view is pretty but there’s only a couple of houses to see and 2 restaurants. We ate at the one called “Different”, and the view was great. We ordered a Greek salad, tomato cakes, and a kabob. The salad and tomato cakes came quickly and were great (until we found a hair cooked into the tomato cake) but the kabob never came. No one came back to the table so we had to flag a staff member down right before we had to leave to try and pay and make sure we weren’t charged. We also noticed some other tables asking for missing meat dishes as well. If we did this tour again, we’d just enjoy the 2 hours down below. If you do decide to hike up and eat, I’d recommend ordering something that requires little cooking time. Overall, this tour was great! We really enjoyed it and it was a great value for all that you get to see/do. The company was very friendly/professional as well.

This was a great experience and really enjoyed the various stops that we made! It was 3 different stops, all were so interesting and unique. Our tour guide, Spyros really gave us a lot of detailed information on each of the locations and knew a lot about the history of the Calderas. There was a lady who forgot water on the hike and he gave his water bottle to her, another example of the kindness of the Greek people. In retrospect, I wish we had only done this one instead of also doing the Catamaran cruise because you basically got the same experience for a lot less money for the 1/2 Caldera cruise. The Catamaran does provide a barbecue meal with drinks but I don’t know if that was worth the extra $100 price difference per person. With this one, you wouldn’t get to go to Amoudi Bay to see the sunset in Oia which is easy enough to do on your own and you could also do at your own pace.

I booked this trip through GetYourGuide. The boat took you for a hike up the volcano, a swim in the hot springs, and a visit to Thirasia. To enter the hike costs about €5. The hike up the volcano isn’t that easy. It takes about half an hour to climb up, if you’re going at a consistent pace. You are only guided up 10-15 minutes of the hike and then left on your own to explore. The gravel is quite slippery coming up and down. I think the company should do a better job about warning people about the hike because there were several people that paid to get in (you pay almost immediately as soon as you get off the boat) and couldn’t walk up for more than a few minutes. Then, we were taken to the hot springs. We had the option of taking a ladder or jumping into the water. It wasn’t mentioned until we got to the hot springs that it will be a little bit of a swim from the cold waters to the hot springs. You are given the option of pool noodles but if you aren’t a somewhat confident swimmer, I think it will be tough. Then we went to Thirasia where we were told that we could explore the bay of the island and swim or we can explore the island and the few restaurants it had open but had to make a 30 min climb up stairs. The climb was awful. I had to stop at every turn of the stairs to take a breath. I think the trip was a good experience for the price but definitely avoid if you are looking to relax or have any mobility issues whatsoever!!

The Caldera half day tour was truly an amazing and breathtaking adventure! The boat ride was great and the tour guide Gabriel was wonderful. He had a vibrant and upbeat personality with lots of good information about the islands. We visited Nea Kameni, Thirassia along with the hot springs. Lots of walking and wonderful views! The hot springs were more luke warm then hot but still a very good experience. Due to the orange brown tint in the water at the hot springs, I would NOT recommend bringing a light colored towel. There is a bar onboard to buy snacks and drinks - we’ll stocked. They play music and share details on the views as you make your way back to the port.

I liked it despite it was so crowded on Caldera, because so many ships and people were there.I did not like swiming in hot springs, because of lots of people there and also it was not so hot,but if you have no other option (to take private tour for example) then I recommend the tour. Our guide was very good and to see that volcano that is still active (you can see smoke and smell it) is really experience. You need to take good shoes for walking there (my sandals are ruined:)What I also liked that we saw nice Oia and Fira from the boat. The last stop in Thirassia is only for business to have lunch only nothing special there.
