Overview
Sip on Santorini wine during this 4.5-hour, small-group tour of the island and two or three of its wine estates (depending on selected option). As you explore, learn about wine production in the area, and hear about the local varietals such as assyrtiko. Explore a vineyard with a guide and walk around wine cellars. If you want to make the tour extra-special, upgrade to enjoy an evening excursion. The option includes a visit to a hilltop winery, local tapas, and sunset views to complement your wine. Numbers are limited to eight people.
What to Expect
Both the day and sunset tour include hotel pickup and drop-off. The wineries you visit are dependent on the tour you choose.

Day Tour: (April 1 – November 15)Meet your guide and relax on the journey to the island’s wine estates. Admire the countryside as you go, and chat with your guide about winemaking in Santorini and the area’s unique viticulture.

With its volcanic aspa soil, Santorini is able to produce wine that is rich in minerals with light-flavored notes. The island’s grapes are grown in baskets that are set close to the soil — an act that helps moisture from rain to be retained.

Tour the cellars of each wine estate, and follow the production process through from harvesting the grapes through to maturing the wine. Walk with your guide around one of the estate’s volcanic vineyards, and sip on up to 12 different varietals of the island wine, including local vinsanto and assyrtiko. Nibbles such as olives, bread and cheese are also included.

Sunset Tour: (May 15 – September 30)Enjoy the tour as described above, but arrive at your last wine estate, the renowned Venetsanos Winery in time to watch the sun set. Make your way to the open terrace for an alfresco wine tasting and a plate of tapas with views of the Santorini caldera set against the Aegean Sea before you return to your hotel.

Great tour

Anthony was so informative and knew so much about the wine industry. From the beginning of time of wine to the most modern. Loved that for each wine, there was a food paired. And it was absolutely delicious. Great tour!

Great way to taste local wines and see the sunset

I liked this tour because there are only 8 people. Larger groups at wine tastings are not fun. We went to 3 wineries, which were all very good. Our guide did a food pairing at the first winery which I really enjoyed. We also had...More
