About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- TheTraveller19630 contributionsRush rush rush.Just don’t do it. We left early from Chania, two modes of transport to get us to Rethymno for the ferry. Queues at the port to get tickets. We weren’t sat together on the boat, even though we booked our tickets together. Lovely boat though, with a great snack bar on our level. Good choice of refreshments. Once we docked, we were picked up by a coach and an English speaking guide. We went to Oia first. Parked just outside the main area, and wandered into town. I believe we had 1.5hrs at this stop, which was no time at all. Oia was absolutely rammed . Not pleasant at all. I’ve previously spent a week on Santorini staying in Pyrgos. That was much better. Had a coffee, looked in one or two shops as that’s all we had time for. Then we headed back to the bus. Then we went to Fira. Our guide recommended somewhere for lunch. As time was of the essence again, we just went where he recommended. It was average fayre at best. The guide ate there, so maybe he got a freebie for taking us day trippers there. Fira is lovely, but again, too rushed. Then it was off back to the ferry terminal for our trip back to Rethymno. The ferry took an hour longer getting back. By the time we got back to our hotel it was around 9pm. Made it a very long day. Everything was just so rushed. I wouldn’t do it again.Written 19 January 2025

- keithc9500 contributionsBewareWe booked this trip from Stalis. So wish we hadn't. Like our last report on the trips from Stalis we had 4 hours on the coach picking up other hotel guests and getting to the destination. We were not given information to say that you had to get off the boat at the beach into the water (sea) from a gang plank. Taking off your shoes (we had gone in decent footwear) and holding them in your one hand and possessions in the other then negotiating a steep gangplank is not the ideal thing when you are pensioners. We both had to be helped into the sea. The beach was covered in stones and rough under the feet. Then we got to the sandy bit and it was red hot. The only thing was to put your wet feet into your decent shoes to stop the pain of heat and shingle. The day already totally ruined by this time we found we had to cross the river to get to the sight seeing. Once again shoes off and gingerly walking on shingle carrying your belongings in your hands. A very unstable crossing. Please do not think this is a waste of money on this trip but it is not for pensioners without forewarning of obstacles and what is needed. If we had been told the first thing we would have taken is either flip flops/crocs/old shoes and of course a towel for drying your feet THREE times. Off the boat/on the boat/across the river. Then we were taken to Rethymno. However another great disappointment. When we arrived there was so little time and we never got to see the town. We had a bite to eat and had to rush it without finishing properly because we were out of time. There was no time left for anything. Then for some a very embarrassing ride home. Another long journey back with no toilet on the bus and no stop and a lady and a gentleman had to stop for the toilet on the side of the road with the rep holding a towel around the lady. It was awful for them and the people on the coach. To us a very poor value for money trip and just wish we had been given proper information before we booked. We do not complain lightly and with me doing 200 reviews on trip adviser it is the worst report I have ever had to write..If you are old/impaired/unsteady on your feet/then I do not recommend this trip. - W2328BDstevenb0 contributionsSantorini- Save your money! The first thing to say is, I wouldn't do this again. Or visit Santorini in high season again. I booked the day trip to Santorini from Rethymno in Crete with visitcrete.com. The first issue was the seating on the ferry. The seats are in two's and you are allocated seat numbers on your tickets. We are a family of four, two adults and two kids, and yet we are seated 1,2,1. The ferry sailing time is approx 2hrs 40 mins. There is a decent cafe on board but I would recommend bringing your own entertainment of some kind. Once at Santorini, you all board coaches, the number of the coach you board, again, pre allocated on your ticket. There were at least 25 coaches waiting. They all set off as they fill up, all heading for the same place, Oia. Once at Oia, they all park up just below the village. Everyone in those 25+ coaches disembarks and follows a pathway up to the village like a trail of ants. The village is packed! Nearly every street is shoulder to shoulder, not helped by the contents of the three cruise ships in the bay. We only had about 1 hour and 30 minutes in Oia and were always aware that we had to be back at the coach for the designated time. We found ourselves trying to find the best places to take photographs amongst everyone else. There was no time to look around the little streets or enjoy the location. We found a place for a quick drink overlooking the caldera. One black coffee, one iced tea, two soft drinks and two ice creams, 50 GBP. Everything seemed to be twice the price of similar items on Crete. Of course, there was one family late back, delaying our departure by 15 mins and hence reducing our time in the next village, Fira. Again, in Fira, the coaches park just outside the village and everyone follows the person in front to the town. This village is a little larger so not quite so crowded. Only 1 hour and 45 minutes here before getting back on the coach for the ride back to the ferry port. The whole visit feels very rushed and not enjoyable. A total of 5 hours 20 mins on the ferry and 3 hours and 15 minutes on Santorini ( not including transfer time and waiting for latecomers to return ), at a cost of over 600GBP for the four of us. OK, so I can say I've been to Santorini, but it wasn't how I imagined it would be. I won't be returning.Written 18 September 2024
- C9215IKsarahm0 contributionsSamaria Gorge Sept 9The bus ride was comfortable, easy, and felt safe. Thomas was an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. There was slight confusion about where to pick us up in the morning, but surprisingly the company called me, waited, and help facilitate a different pick up. We still arrived early before the crowds!Written 16 September 2024

Far too expensive for what you get to see. You are rushed through Oia and Fira and most of the time is spent on the transfer there. Very disorganized. You are supposed to be at the pick-up point 10 minutes beforehand, but the bus is 20 minutes late. You are then dropped off at the port and are not given any information about what happens next, only when you get in the wrong line are you sent to the next one.

My wife and I visited Santorini for a week in Oct ‘16 and recently (Oct’23) did the day trip with friends who had not been to the island.
Whilst the boat and coaches are quite well organised and comfortable, it is a long day, 14 hours from hotel pick up to drop off and out of those you will be either sitting in the boat or a coach for about 10 hours; the remaining 4 hours will either be given to ‘sightseeing’ herded around by an uninterested ‘guide’ or eating in a mediocre restaurant they recommend and probably get commission from.
Oia and Fira are unfortunately the two most commercialised (and expensive) towns on Santorini and you will very likely be visiting them together with literally thousands of other day trippers from boat excursions and cruise liners.
At the time of our visit to Oia, the coach park must have had 30+ coaches in it, it’s alleyways we’re teaming with day trippers and you had to queue, 10 deep, to take photos of the views. The experience was manic, unpleasant and not the way to enjoy what Santorini has to offer.
We overheard a fellow day tripper on the boat back to Rethymno saying ‘ well that has made up my mind, I shall certainly not bother visiting Santorini again’, what a sorry impression to leave.
Santorini is a totally unique, stunning and interesting place to visit and offers so much more than a quick, crowded glimpse of Oia and Fira can offer.
My advise would be, if you can, don’t bother with a day trip, your hard earned cash would be much better spent visiting Santorini for a few days at your leisure and experiencing Oia and Fira when all the day trippers have left.
