      So fun and worthwhile.
Our guide Evan was so considerate, knowledgeable, kind and safe. He taught us so much about the local plants and geology of the rock formations. We really enjoyed his tour and his guidance. Thank you so much.

Beautiful views, great guide, great service
The tour was wonderful. We got picked up from our hotel and drove to our location for our hike. Everything went smoothly and the service was top notch. Our guide Iven was awesome and taught us alot along the way. They also give you walking sticks and water if needed. Beautiful views and beautiful monastery we got to see. Highly recommend a guided tour. Much easier to get there and back.

      MUST DO in Greece
Absolutely amazing visit and I recommend Katherina as a guide as she has huge knowledges of the sites and monasteries and personnal interesting anecdotes that makes the trip even more interesting. She is so dedicated that she was working during easter day when we went (which is a big family celebration not to be missed in Greece). We are very grateful for her to have given us so much of her time and helped us learn so much about the site history :) I will definitely recommend to anyone going to Greece to visit this place (a Unesco site btw), it is a MUST-DO in Greece.

      Majestic!
Wow!!!! This tour and Meteora was amazing! If you have an entire day to spend on this, you must do it! Our tour guide Kate was great!!! So knowledgeable and funny and personable! The monasteries were out of this world! We were 3 architects and 1 college students - and we were awed by the beauty and amazing feat of these buildings built atop these rocks in such a majestic setting!

Long but worthwhile day trip to Meteora
I had always wanted to go to Meteora from a long time ago, finally did it this time! Would have preferred to stay overnight and return early morning back to Athens the next day but there was no such option (unless you wanted to wait till 6pm) so had to take the day trip return option (approx 8am to 10.30pm) . Also the train was not working due to floods so no choice but to go by coach both ways. Even though the journey to get there was long, there was a half an hour break in between to have a snack, coffee, bathroom break and stretch legs, etc. Short but sufficient. Coach is clean and comfortable. You will get to see quite a bit of the landscape of Greece on the way there. Time passes quickly if you have friends to chat to or have a book. Some brough their own tablet for entertainment. Suggest you take the $10 prepaid lunch option if available, it just saves time and gives you more time to eat. Food is homely and there are sufficient choices. Tour in Meteora itself was great, guides friendly and knowledgeable. The monasteries, views and villages are a delight and well worth the journey. Lots of photo opportunities! .

Clouds or sun, this tour will deliver
This was a fantastic tour. Our guide, Katerina, brought the area to life for me. As a local, she had stories about each of the stops that gave them such flavor. You can’t get that from anywhere else. Our driver was amazing in that I never got carsick on those twisty roads, and I always do. It was a cold cloudy day so we didn’t get to see a sunset. But the whole tour was so much more than that so it didn’t matter. I can’t recommend this tour enough.

      Loved Our Tour Guide!!
The only downside to this tour was the bus ride compared to the usual Train ride. Our tour guide Maria was hands down the best guide we he during our entire Athens stay. She was Extremely informative, but also brought humor to our journey. The other 11 people in our tour group also commented how much they loved the tour when we had lunch together. Would HIGHLY recommend requesting her as your guide. I’m sure the other guides are great too. But would 10/10 recommend

Best of both world; guide and beingon our own
My friend said this is the best thing we have done in Greece, and we have done some great things. There was a bit of a mix up with the meeting location. I notified the company that where we were staying was difficult to find, so we could meet out front. Plus they moved the meeting time up by fifteen minutes. However they suggested at a hotel about fifteen minutes away by foot. We were late and missed the shuttle. No problem, Visit Meteroa called me and they routed the shuttle right back to us. The shuttle was very comfortable and our driver, Costas, was a wonder driver instilling confidence is us. He gets around in those tiny streets, around bends, maneuvering around other buses and shuttles was an exercise in driving skills that have been honed over the years. Our guide, Kate, was very informative, responded to our questions, was easy to understand. I really appreciated how she would tell us what we were going ot see, what to look for, then allowed us to go at our pace, and spread out. It was the best of both worlds, having a guide and being on one's own. I definitely would recommend Visit Meteora. I only wish the sunset tour was not booked up, as I really wanted to try that one out.

      Long day but worth it
Long journey not really suitable for children but worth it. Took along time getting on the coach as names weren’t in any order on list. We stopped off at a restaurant where you could buy snacks or a meal very organised but the food was lukewarm which seemed to be the normal in Athens. Plenty of toilets. We had to change to smaller buses at the start of the monasteries tour. Then we had another food stop. We went inside 2 monasteries (although it did say 3). one had quite a lot of steps. The views are stunning. It is an amazing place. The guide was good. The cave dwelling was also good. It was pretty busy with quite a few tours. There was a bit of confusion getting back on the larger coach as our original one wasn’t there. We were told to go on one bus which was very full and wouldn’t have been able to sit together (which I wouldn’t have been happy about) but then got told to get off that bus and go on one which had more room.

Morning forest hike with the Great Meteoron monastery visit
The tour was just amazing. We were picked up right from out accommodation and took on a beautiful morning forest hike, visiting some sights otherwise not reachable. At the end of the tour we visited the Monastery of the Great Meteoron and took a relaxing walk downhill to the village. Evan was extremely informative and entertaining. Our warmest recommendation!

      Great experience touring monasteries
Visit Meteora tour was a great experience! The guide Apostolis and driver George did a great job taking us around and explaining each site. They made the trip very interesting, finding the best places for views and pictures and the 5 hours in Meteora flew by! I would definitely do it again with family and friends.

We did the Sunset tour and the half day hiking tour the next day. Both were excellently led and organised. The guides were great and we couldn't fault them for anything. The sunset tour was much better and more comprehensive than we expected. We were really lucky as well because rain was forecast for our stay but the microclimate in the area meant that it only sprinkled a bit. Before the sunset tour it was cloudy but the skies changed before sunset so we did get a sunset view which was great.
All of my communication before and during our trip with the Visit Meteora staff was also great. They were organised and helpful. I felt confident I had made the right choice booking with them and we had a great time. It was the highlight of our trip to Greece.

Visit Meteora is the absolute BEST tour company to use when visiting the Monasteries near Kalabaka Greece! My friend and I were booked to do the overnight trip departing Athens on the train. Our train was cancelled while we were standing on the platform because of the record rainfall that the area was receiving. George from Visit Meteora personally arranged to have Evan, one of his drivers pick us up in Athens and drive us to Kalabaka. Unfortunately about 1/2 way there the highway was closed due to flooding. George had been in constant contact with Evan. He arranged for us to have very nice lodgings and the next morning we headed out again. Evan was able to get us there with great knowledge of the roads and countryside. We arrived in time to have the sunset tour with Toli. Again,
first rate and very informative! The next day we had an amazing hiking tour with Chris. Just fabulous! We were supposed to return by bus because the trains were still not operational. We had to be back in Athens that night. However, the Highway back to Athens was still closed. George arranged to drive us to Thessaloniki, 3 hours away and then flew with us to Athens. He had another great driver, Janis, meet us at the airport and take us to our hotel. We could not have asked for better care! He truly cares about his clients and has quality people working for him. Meteora and the monasteries are breathtaking and not to be missed! A one day trip from Athens is not adequate. Spend a minimum of 1 night! And, choose Visit Meteora as your tour company! Then sit back, relax and let them show you the stunning Meteora they call home!

We had an amazing time in Kalambaka. We went on the Sunset Tour and the 1/2 day hiking tour. Both were a lot of fun. The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. The Sunset Tour was a great way to start things off and provided an overview of the area. But the hiking tour was the real highlight. It was entry level/intermediate in difficulty. It provided that perfect balance of information, amazing sights, and just being outdoors. Visit Meteora made the whole excursion very easy. They booked round trip train tickets from Athens, the hotel, transfers and the tours. It was all very seamless and easy. We upgraded to 1st class train tickets and a 4 star hotel. We all arranged upfront to stay a 3rd night in Kalambaka. This enabled us to do a second day of hiking on our own…which was a lot of fun and very easy to navigate. The accommodations were all great. I would highly recommend this tour company and the Sunset and Hiking Tours.

We did the 4 day, 3 night train tour from Athens to Meteora, the Sunset Tour, Mount Saint Scramble and 2 other hikes just this past week. We travel extensively and have to say that they were the best tour company we have every dealt with. Everything was flawless and VIP the entire way. Guides went above and beyond, all loved what they did and showed us an unbelievable 4 days. Logistics were completely smooth and beyond organized. You guys are the best; thanks for treating us like royalty!

What a great three days!! Door to door service! We were lucky enough to stay the the Plakias Boutique Hotel in Kastraki where everyone was SO hospitable and helpful. The tours are informative and fun! On the three day tour, all your organized activities are done by lunch time the second day so we weren't sure what to do with ourselves for another full day. One of our hosts, Apostolis, showed us how to get to a private pool and also how to hike to the two monasteries we could not get to on our tours so we filled up our time well! Meteora is beautiful and a very worthwhile stop on your Greek Vacation. If you are tight on time, you can do the 1 night tour and get a good overview of the sights.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our Rail Tour from Athens to Meteora. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your three-day trip and the hospitality at Plakias Boutique Hotel in Kastraki. Apostolis is indeed a gem, always going the extra mile to ensure our guests have a fantastic experience. We appreciate your feedback about the activities finishing early on the second day. We'll certainly take this into consideration for future tours to offer a more packed itinerary or provide additional suggestions for leisure time. That being said, it's great to hear you made the most of your time by exploring more of the monasteries! Thank you for recommending Meteora as a worthwhile stop in Greece. And yes, for those short on time, the 1-night tour provides a comprehensive glimpse into this majestic place. We hope to welcome you again on another one of our tours in the future. Safe travels!

Organisation, Hotel and guide were reliable and top quality. Landscape unbelievable, monasteries very Interesting.Just St. Stephans nunnery was overcrowded. I wouldn't do the Sunset tour AND Morning tour again - to much redundance. Hiking tour is the far better choice. But be sure to have the possibly for a shower after the walk

I was very pleased with the 3-day/2-night Meteora tour. The mini-buses are good quality, the drivers are good, pickups were always on time, water is provided, and the two guides were superlative. On the Sunset Tour, Dimitri (Jim) provided four hours of commentary about the history and geology of the area, construction of the monasteries and Greek culture - an experienced and personable guide. On the Hiking Tour, Vangelis (Evan) guided our group of 12 expertly and amiably, 4.5 hours of walking, explaining history and geography, pointing out plants, trees and wildlife, attentive to our needs, and providing energy bars at breaktime. Mythos Guest House was a good choice for my two-night stay. I was very impressed by both of the guides, and I highly recommend Visit Meteora, which does well organizing all the details.

My wife and I did the 4 day / 3 night Meteora Delphi Tour with our two daughters who are 12 & 9 years old. This tour was fantastic from start to finish. Kostas and his team run a professional service.

    1. Booking online was easy. We exchanged many emails and it was never a problem, always a terrific helpful tone with good information.

    2. It’s worth paying extra for the first class train tickets, makes the journey more comfortable and less crowded.

    3. The vehicle transfers are in Mercedes mini vans and Mercedes taxi’s, its luxury.

    4. The tour guides were extremely knowledgeable. The information is relevant and informative. If you like history or just learning how cultures worked in the times Before Christ (BC), the tour guides will share perspectives that will amaze you. This was a highlight.

    5. There is plenty of opportunity to take photo’s and enjoy Meteora. The bus will stop at several locations that provide the opportunity for breath taking photographs.

    6. Hotels chosen by the tour company were both good. Clean, tidy, air conditioned with a good continental breakfast in the morning. We were given rooms with one double and two single beds. This was arranged without having to ask. Courtesy shown by those making the bookings. Staff at the hotel very hospitable.

    Tips;
    * Book a tour guide in Delphi. We booked and paid extra and it proved to be a good decision. Without a guide, it’s hard to know what your looking at and the significance.

    * The bus trip from Delphi to Athens can take up to 3 hours so allow enough time if your transferring to another location.

    * The bus will drop off at that Liosion Bus Station in Athens. Pre-book a taxi with Athens Taxi Service to your next location. Money well spent, professional drivers who wait for you and very courteous. Flat fee transfers. This has nothing to do with the Visit Meteora tour and is an additional fee.

I thoroughly recommend Visit Meteora Travel Agency.
